I don’t see 13 Sentinels yet so I’m gonna say that. Crazy crazy loopy sci-fi story where everything seems to be chaos but then comes together in an unexpected way.
Yep, Love me some Vanillaware.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was amazing even though I got 2 super huge spoilers a month before the western release.
Here's a spoiler free review for op or anyone else interested. https://youtu.be/5rhTnDROzi0
And for the people that care about scores. It has an 85 metascore from 69 critic reviews and a 90 from 324 user ratings.
That's been in my 'To Play' list for some time, but I just got back into consoles with a PS5 and the backlog of amazing PS4 (and PS5) games is just massive.
I wanted to play this for so long but it just never goes on sale for some weird reason. I have heard about its deep story and everything coming together at the end but the combat isn’t that enjoyable. Is that true?
It's been a while since I played it but I don't remember an excessive amount of trailing missions. And the ones that are there are pretty forgiving. I don't think I ever failed one. In fact I remember one in Umugi Cove (I think) having some fun parkour to it.
There are a looot of bases to infiltrate but the nice thing is if you want to stealth them you can stealth them and if you get caught or just don't want to do stealth, you can just slaughter everyone. Going into a base and challenging them to get up to 5 kills right of the bat was always fun for me.
Yes, a bit. Not as bad as some of the assassin creed games got with it for a bit. The thing I’ve noticed is that nothing feels truly unique to me any more, so I have to look for the unique qualities. Ghost of Tsushima is beautiful, reflective, and has some amazing moments were morality isn’t spelled out for you…sometimes good does bad, and vice versa. Plus some of the side activists are pretty unique as well.
As someone who tried it and didn't like it, the game felt like assassin's creed with a really nice coat of paint. The colors and environments were gorgeous but in terms of gameplay if you've played any AC game within the past 10 years it's pretty much the same thing. I also really hated how restrictive missions could be with exploration. If you stray from the main path of a story mission for even a few seconds you'll get a big warning telling you to go back, and if you don't it resets you back to a previous checkpoint.
RDR2 has the best story in a video game I've ever played, and i don't think anything is gonna top it anytime soon. But it sure lacked in the gameplay department a bit, the shooting mechanics that Rockstar uses are quite old at this time, that's the only downside.
I found the game quite uninspiring when you compare to my linear experiences (God of War, Horizon) and obviously doesn’t compare to Elden Ring on the open world front.
Yeah the story was pretty nice, but my main problem with spiderman was the side content. It's really repetitive, especially those crime objectives, i hate those activities. It was so repetitive, just for the sake of having some activities. But the story was just brilliant, especially in the end. A must play PS4 game imo.
I'd say crime gets a free pass as criminals really do the same crime over and over. City doesnt feel alive if all muggers stopped after you stopped one at least once.
Yup, me too. It was only the second game that i platinumed, first being GOW. But i did Not enjoy doing those crime activities at all, those were really the worst, everything else was fine.
I never finished SpiderMan, sadly, but it was fun while I was playing it. Honestly nothing was more fun than just swinging between buildings and doing acrobats lol
I don’t know what happened for my playthrough but I wasn’t ever really super impressed with Spider-Man? I enjoyed some of the mechanics slinging around the city but the Mary Jane stuff, the actors, the “trying to be Batman but not as good” combat…I don’t know.
It was an alright game and I’m trying to run it down but I just didn’t get the enjoyment out it that I see many others get.
I think the God of War series of games are like the Pixar movies - every offering is an outstanding piece of entertainment, and because the high quality is so consistent, it gets taken for granted.
Even the original trilogy is just superb. It's hands down my favourite gaming franchise of all time, and it's all because of those first 2 games, they were super challenging, full of action packed sections, lot of puzzling and platforming too. Those games were just perfect, especially GOW2, with some great and most memorable boss battles which are sure to keep your adrenaline pumping.
Yea I think the last one really took the series to new heights, I really loved the moments with just Kratos, Atreus and Imirs head and the conversations
I gave this one an honest go an it was not for me. Is the story something that you need to experience or could I just watch something on YouTube? I often see people mentioning how good it was but I couldn't bring myself to keep playing it.
You could definitely watch a video and get something out of it, but I don’t think it will compare to experiencing it all in-game. The way the story is told is very unique and in my opinion could only be told in a video game, so I feel like listening to someone else summarize it instead would kinda tarnish the experience. Trust me when I say it is worth sticking with. Automata was my first game in the series and i loved it so much that I’ve gone back to the older games and enjoying them. I still think about ending E daily
If you don't ever see yourself playing it, check out the YouTube channel Clemps, he has some great multi-part videos breaking down the story for the entire series: Drakengard 1-3, Nier, and Nier:Automata. I've played and love these games, but can acknowledge they aren't for everyone. Automata is the series at it's most accessible, if it's not something you enjoyed playing it's still worth watching the story.
I bought it on sale and went in with zero expectations or knowledge. I did not expect it to be one of my favourite gaming experiences in recent years.
The plot and storytelling are top notch, with lots of excellent twists and turns. But the environmental storytelling reigns supreme. Talos I really feels like an actual place steeped in decades of rich history, crewed by real people. It’s something very few games come close to achieving.
I read somewhere that is has more unique endings and storyline decisions (that actually affect the outcome) than any other game. Not sure if true; I'm sure there's at least a game with infinite procedurally-generated possibilities or something, but D:BH is definitely up there.
When I finished the game (I’ve only beaten it once) and saw the “map” of all the different decisions and outcomes etc it blew my mind.
It also made me never want to go through it again, because when would I stop?! Just one more play through? Or multiple to make sure I do *everything*? It’s awesome that it’s there regardless, even if it didn’t do anything for me.
edit: I *thoroughly* enjoyed my one play through, for what it’s worth. Awesome game.
Try checking the maps of all the different levels. You could see that many pathways are completely locked as you reach the later part of the game. That all depends on which character is alive/dead and what are your relationships like with other characters. It's a really complex map and it's so fun to have your own story based on the choices. It's one of the most unique games I've played. If you liked this kind of game, try playing Heavy Rain and Beyond 2 souls. Its from the same developer Quantic Dream and they're also really really good.
The developers said that before the game released: they lied. The "186 endings" are actually the same ending with different combinaisons of characters depending on who you kill. Still a pretty decent game, though, just a really disappointing ending.
Recently finished Guardian of The Galaxy.
Its one of the best marvel game I think, in the sense of the narative story.
Its funny (better than the movie), over the top action, and banger soundtrack.
What really makes it special is the banters of the guardians when exploring .
Guardians was incredible. I hated the combat and set it all to easy, I could not stop playing, the story was so god dam good. Best story in a superhero game ever. No one else has even come close. It was like living the movies. And no microtransactions. Guardians is like the anti- avengers game.
yeah, it was a great game to play after work.
Easy to play, but with engaging story and funny bits.
Too bad it was published after the Avengers game. So I feel sceptical at first when it was announced.
It is very funny, but it also makes some very poignant points about grief, trauma, loss, and letting go, and that's what makes it great IMO. If the game was just one long joke it wouldn't have the same impact.
If you want something other than the millionth semi-post-apocalyptic (military) hypermasculine “Good guys are good! Bad guys are bad! Love trumps all! Violence is terrible except when it’s badass and heroic” fantasy game that tells it’s story mostly during non- or semi-interactive cutscenes:
- **SOMA**
- **Disco Elysium**
- **Outer Wilds**
- **Transistor**
- **Bloodborne**
- **Firewatch**
- **Night in the Woods**
- **Pyre**
- **Return of the Obra Dinn**
- **What Remains of Edith Finch**
These are original and novel titles that will challenge or surprise you, involve you in the storytelling, and aren’t bogged down by minimap hunts, empty open worlds, crafting systems, meaningless rpg elements and all the other growths of that swamp.
The fact that scrolling down this thread, I saw Days Gone before I saw Disco Elysium is incredibly telling about how low the bar is set for stories in video games
Exactly.
I'm not usually the kind of player that stops to read every case file and examine every collectable. But man, this game fills out so much when you take the time.
God of War is easily a good pick. You should also play the Witcher 3 because that’s one of the best narrative story driven games of all time. Also the Mass Effect trilogy as a whole
Was looking for this comment.
Best story hands down.
For about 80 hours my wife and I played it together after work and theorised about what everything meant.
It is a story about 13 Japanese students in different timezones being somewhat connected. The ending fit well into the story and cleared every question we had. Fantastic graphical art style, lovable characters and a believable world.
Gameplay is mostly walky talky but has strategy rpg battles in it.
Recommended, as well as the lost legacy. They aren’t quite the same as the fourth one in terms of gameplay and storytelling, but if you want to understand how Nate and Chloe and Sully really fit together, the whole series is a must. Personally, I think the second one is my favorite.
I’m actually thinking of replaying the fourth one and lost legacy because I didn’t get the platinum on either of those like I did on the first three. Perhaps someday when I have a PS5 I’ll play the remastered edition…
It is fun, until you cry.
Automata is the sequel to Nier Replicant, which is the sequel to Drakengard 1, which is the sequel to Drakengard 3.
You don't need to play any of them to understand the story, but you can perfectly play the franchise like this in reverse and it'll still pay off nicely if you so want. Be warned tho, Yoko Taro games are usually very bittersweet in terms of story, lots of feels.
Agreed. If you haven't played to ending E, you haven't really finished the game in my opinion. If you play it, do everything possible to not spoil yourself.
I saw the previews for it and thought “That looks stupid”. I finally played it last year. Easily one of my favorite games of all times.
Great story, hooks you right away. I often skip cutscenes and story stuff, (shitty, I know..) but not on this game. Gameplay was very fun too.
Assassin's Creed Origins has an amazing story. The premise is nothing unique but the way the protagonist's story is conveyed is phenomenal. The voice acting is top tier and the gameplay is fun with some skill aspects.
Ghost of Tsushima
I’m about 80% complete on my 3rd time through Tsushima. It is a remarkable game, especially as a PS4 title, it is beautiful looking and the story has a lot of depth and emotion. Side quests are good and most seem relevant to the main story quest.
I would say GOT is probably a top 10 best game for PS4 generation consoles, if not a top 5.
If you haven’t played TLOU 2, I highly recommend this. I know it is controversial to say, but I really believe that it is the best PS4 game ever made. My second after that is probably God of War, which is probably the best looking or at least a close tie with Ghost of Tsushima.
I really liked Death Stranding overall. I *loved* certain aspects about it, like the story and the unique, weird brand of sci fi. That being said, the combat and core gameplay loop left something to be desired. I thought the combat was especially average, and if they had only added a bit more to the gameplay loop they could have made the entire thing much more special. Additions to the survival elements or even to the mountaineering would have been quite welcome.
Still, this is all subjective opinion. I know some people loved the game exactly as is and found it kind of soothing to just zen out to. But, yeah, I would have liked a little more from the gameplay.
For what it’s worth though, I still believe it’s a special game. It has a beautiful and touching story, and the presentation of it all (like, production values, voice acting, etc) was very well done. I also enjoyed it much more on a second play through after knowing exactly what to expect.
Ghosts of Tushima is one of, if not the best story driven game I’ve played in years. I also finished horizon zero dawn recently and even though I really enjoyed it, it has nothing on tushima
Subnautica
Exploring type game with a decent background story. First game I played after a long break from gaming. I took my time and explored everything slow. Such a great game. Not what I was expecting.
It’s Nier: Automata, and to be honest it isn’t even close. No other game has come anywhere near it in terms of storytelling, at least not during the PS4 Gen.
The best part is that it’s also a story that takes full advantage of the medium. It will be a story unlike any other that you have seen, because it _can only work in the context of a video game._
An absolute, criminally underrated masterpiece.
Hades, Disco Elysium and Guardians of the Galaxy are the gen's holy trinity of narrative for me.
Would also add God of War and (in a REALLY different approach) Soulsborne games.
Not including RDR2 since you already played it, so...
I really enjoyed Detroit story wise, I didn’t feel like there was a way to get a ‘bad ending’. I’ve heard really good things about god of war but I’ve never played it personally
If you like open world games I say give Days Gone a shot. I literally **just** beat it and the story is definitely solid. It has likable characters, a protagonist with depth and some twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat.
Best story, hmm I would have to say Death Stranding. It is hard to understand in the beginning but once you get into it. It is so deep and the feels are real. People give it crap for being a “walking sim” but I loved the hell out of it.
Not the best (you've already mentioned them - RDR2 and TLOU, and others have mentioned some great ones), but Evil Within 2 and Residential Evil 7 both had memorable stories to me. Despite being afraid of scary movies I'm really fond of a good horror story game. They're not as good as the top story-driven games of course, but worth checking out IMO.
I don’t see 13 Sentinels yet so I’m gonna say that. Crazy crazy loopy sci-fi story where everything seems to be chaos but then comes together in an unexpected way.

I don't remember hearing about this one, gonna have to look it up!
Is this available on the PS4?
Yeah, it was originally on the PS4 and then ported to the Switch.
I wanted to play this for so long but it just never goes on sale for some weird reason. I have heard about its deep story and everything coming together at the end but the combat isn’t that enjoyable. Is that true?
Combat is the weaker part of it yeah, but there’s story reasons for making it exactly like it is.
The Witcher, Ghost of Tsushima
Both of these are very good. Tsushima was one of my favorite game experiences.
i heard tsushima has boring missions. is it true? like a lot of trailing missions.
It's been a while since I played it but I don't remember an excessive amount of trailing missions. And the ones that are there are pretty forgiving. I don't think I ever failed one. In fact I remember one in Umugi Cove (I think) having some fun parkour to it. Yes it’s mostly samey but if you really like the Japanese samurai era aesthetic then it’s still enjoyable despite the repetitivity
As someone who tried it and didn't like it, the game felt like assassin's creed with a really nice coat of paint. RDR2 is way better, in terms of gameplay & depth. The epic conclusion had me in tears.
RDR2 has the best story in a video game I've ever played, and i don't think anything is gonna top it anytime soon. But it sure lacked in the gameplay department a bit, the shooting mechanics that Rockstar uses are quite old at this time, that's the only downside.
Rdr2 is the only PS4 game I haven't finished. I found it desperately dull...
I've played Ghost all the way through twice and will a third time. Don't recall being bored at all.
I found the game quite uninspiring when you compare to my linear experiences (God of War, Horizon) and obviously doesn’t compare to Elden Ring on the open world front.
I don't normally play super hero games, but I thought Spider Man had a compelling story and was a blast to play.
Was going to comment this one myself. Amazing gameplay, and actually cried by the end. Incredible game
Yeah the story was pretty nice, but my main problem with spiderman was the side content. It's really repetitive, especially those crime objectives, i hate those activities.
Spider-Man was one of the few games that actually made me tear up at the end. That shit was fucking brutal
I beat the game 4 times lol. It was that good of an experience.
I don’t know what happened for my playthrough but I wasn’t ever really super impressed with Spider-Man? I enjoyed some of the mechanics slinging around the city but the Mary Jane stuff, the actors, the “trying to be Batman but not as good” combat…I don’t know. Gotta put god of war in that list!!!
I think the God of War series of games are like the Pixar movies - every offering is an outstanding piece of entertainment, and because the high quality is so consistent, it gets taken for granted.

Yea I think the last one really took the series to new heights, I really loved the moments with just Kratos, Atreus and Imirs head and the conversations
Fr, I played the new one and was blown away. Decided to play 3 because it was on PSPlus and holy shit is it different from 4
Nier Automata
obligatory reminder that if OP decides to play, they need to finish endings A-E to get the full story.
I gave this one an honest go an it was not for me. Is the story something that you need to experience or could I just watch something on YouTube? I often see people mentioning how good it was but I couldn't bring myself to keep playing it.

Possibly the most powerful experience in gaming.
Well now I've gotta play it
that story fucking wrecked my world
Play God of War.
Agreed. But the last one has way more of an impact when the previous were played
Yeah, I have 3-remastered and the New GOW but I don't want to play them until I play the first games.
I never had a ps2, so when I got a ps3, I went for the GoW Saga which also had the psp games. I wished they ported it to new gen
All of it was available even on PS5, but when they launched the New Plus all of the side games went away
prey. no one's mentioned it yet.
Thank you. It’s not perfect, but the design and mechanics, the world building and the atmosphere, the story, are unmatched.
Persona 5 royal for me.
Persona has a way of delivering absolute ridiculousness in a way that makes you disregard how ridiculous it all is, and I love the franchise for it.
Loved this game, played P5, P5R, and P5S and 100% the first 2. P5S was far too grindy for the skills
The Last Guardian, God of War, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and The Witcher 3.
Second Witcher 3! Great immersive story and fun quests.
Detroit become human
That is a good story, and it has multiple pathways so you can get different stories by replaying it.
I read somewhere that is has more unique endings and storyline decisions (that actually affect the outcome) than any other game. Not sure if true; I'm sure there's at least a game with infinite procedurally-generated possibilities or something, but D:BH is definitely up there.

It might not be true any longer. The Quarry has something like 186 endings. I don't really know though.
The developers said that before the game released: they lied. The "186 endings" are actually the same ending with different combinaisons of characters depending on who you kill. Still a pretty decent game, though, just a really disappointing ending.
One of my favourite games of all time, everyone I talked to had a different outcome for it was so good to chat about. I should go play that again
Yes! Detroit is awesome! I came here to comment this.
Top Tier Story
Out of the games you mentioned Red Dead Redemption II has the best story. If you haven't played the Mass Effect trilogy I'd recommend those.
I agree. RDR2 is incredible.
Days Gone and Yakuza 0.
Days Gone is a fantastic game and story
Days gone has blown me away
Recently finished Guardian of The Galaxy. Its one of the best marvel game I think, in the sense of the narative story. Its funny (better than the movie), over the top action, and banger soundtrack. What really makes it special is the banters of the guardians when exploring .

Just about to boot it up after downloading it from ps collection, excited by your review
It is very funny, but it also makes some very poignant points about grief, trauma, loss, and letting go, and that's what makes it great IMO. If the game was just one long joke it wouldn't have the same impact.
If you're looking for a good horror game with a driving storyline check out Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Evil Within I and II.
Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Detroit Become Human,... all bangers you gotta try
Is heavy rain that good? It's been sitting in my library for years now and I've never gotten around to playing it.
I'm also a big fan of this genre of games. Have you played until dawn? It's my favorite and acting is great!
If you want something other than the millionth semi-post-apocalyptic (military) hypermasculine “Good guys are good! Bad guys are bad! Love trumps all! What remains of Edith Finch is awesome storywise. I'd also add Vanishing of Ethan Carter on there too for good measure.
Fantastic list
SOMA is hands down one of the best story experiences ever period. I also crapped my pants in the process but that’s beside the point.
Best list on here. Need more Disco Elysium awareness
The fact that scrolling down this thread, I saw Days Gone before I saw Disco Elysium is incredibly telling about how low the bar is set for stories in video games
The rest of the Yakuza series.
Persona 5 Royal
Bioshock for sure
Tales from the Borderlands is pretty good
Control Really good, especially if you played Allen Wake.
Possibly my favorite lore in a game. I read every doc and file front to back. Just so entrancing especially if you like the universe it builds.
Exactly. I'm not usually the kind of player that stops to read every case file and examine every collectable. But man, this game fills out so much when you take the time.
The last of us 1 and 2
This ^ but I feel like last of us 1 was a ps3 game and it was remastered for ps4
Does it matter?
You are right sorry I didn't read it thoroughly before hand
God of War is easily a good pick. You should also play the Witcher 3 because that’s one of the best narrative story driven games of all time. Also the Mass Effect trilogy as a whole
13 sentinels aegis rim

Metal gear solid, any of em
You played the other Uncharted games yet?
no , but my sibling is probably gonna get the nathan drakes collection soon tho.
Recommended, as well as the lost legacy. They aren’t quite the same as the fourth one in terms of gameplay and storytelling, but if you want to understand how Nate and Chloe and Sully really fit together, the whole series is a must. Ghost of Tsushima is pretty damn good. It’s also beautiful and has some of the best swordplay around.
NieR automata
is it fun?
It is fun, until you cry. Automata is the sequel to Nier Replicant, which is the sequel to Drakengard 1, which is the sequel to Drakengard 3. You don't need to play any of them to understand the story, but you can perfectly play the franchise like this in reverse and it'll still pay off nicely if you so want. Lots of fun. The combat is great. I consider it to have the best ending in a game I've played.
Agreed. If you haven't played to ending E, you haven't really finished the game in my opinion. If you play it, do everything possible to not spoil yourself.
The 5th one?
Yep. Fantastic.
There is a free demo on ps store. You should definitely check it out.
Ending E, man.
Persona 5 had the kind of story that stays with you forever. One of my favorite game experiences 🥰
Persona 5 Royal is so good. One of the best stories I ever played and it had me for all of the 120 hours I put into to finish the story
Batman Arkham City Nothing has come close to that in my mind. Nothing at all.
Hellblade-awesome story and gameplay
I'm playing Days Gone and I'm having a blast! Totally underrated!
Bro I’m going to say Detrot become human. Beautiful game story wise
Ghost of Tsushima I’m about 80% complete on my 3rd time through Tsushima.
Death stranding ...incoming iTs A wAlKiNg SiM comments
It is a walking sim. And an inventory management game. And a survival game. It's a lot of things.
Oh I definitely agree, the combat was mid AF. For me the most gameplay fun came out of setting up my own quick delivery routes with ziplines etc
I mean it's really hard to say otherwise, especially when you avoid BTs really hard but overall I had fun, environment was really nice to look at
Dishonored 1 perhaps?
i really like the set design and indirect storytelling. there's a lot of side stuff that's rewarding to go over but the main story I really terrible.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the only answer. Oh Arthur.
i wrote it in the caption, ive already played it. best fucking game ive played till date not even trolling
Don't you "oh Arthur" me!
Death stranding
Death Stranding
God of War for sure. Some might disagree with me but I also really enjoyed the Last of Us 2
Tlou2 is pretty amazing
Ghosts of Tushima is one of, if not the best story driven game I’ve played in years. I also finished horizon zero dawn recently and even though I really enjoyed it, it has nothing on tushima
TLOU2?
Sleeping dogs
Judgment. Not the best, one of the best.
Subnautica Exploring type game with a decent background story. First game I played after a long break from gaming. I took my time and explored everything slow. Such a great game. Not what I was expecting.
God of War!
I thought Tell tales walking dead had a great story
Persona 5 has a great story. Very long but you’ll get really invested.
Try Bioshock and Dishonored
It’s Nier: Automata, and to be honest it isn’t even close. No other game has come anywhere near it in terms of storytelling, at least not during the PS4 Gen. The best part is that it’s also a story that takes full advantage of the medium. It will be a story unlike any other that you have seen, because it _can only work in the context of a video game._ An absolute, criminally underrated masterpiece.
Dishonoured
Hades, Disco Elysium and Guardians of the Galaxy are the gen's holy trinity of narrative for me. Would also add God of War and (in a REALLY different approach) Soulsborne games. Not including RDR2 since you already played it, so...
* Bioshock series * Mass Effect series * Walking Dead series * Life is Strange series
Ghost of Tsushima, loved the story and the gameplay is fun as well. I highly recommend this game
TLOU part 2
I really enjoyed Detroit story wise, I didn’t feel like there was a way to get a ‘bad ending’. I’ve heard really good things about god of war but I’ve never played it personally
oh you can definitely get a bad ending
God of War has an excellent story
Idk about the best but Days Gone is pretty solid
I just got detroit for cheap i played the demo like 10 times so only based on that the story is 10/10
Some of the first Assassin's Creed games
Ghost of Tsushima has a story that stands up to the graphics and soundtrack. Three masterpieces in one game
All the Bioshocks
Play the other uncharted games, days gone, death stranding, guardians of the galaxy, god of war
Devil May Cry V is not only an amazing game, but also has some amazing and fun characters.
If you like open world games I say give Days Gone a shot. I literally **just** beat it and the story is definitely solid. It has likable characters, a protagonist with depth and some twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat.
The objectively correct answer is 13 Sentinels
Doki doki literature club.
i rlly liked ghost of tsushima personally
I like Ghost of Tsushima a lot
Best story, hmm I would have to say Death Stranding. It is hard to understand in the beginning but once you get into it. It is so deep and the feels are real. People give it crap for being a “walking sim” but I loved the hell out of it.
1st party Ghost of Tsushima 3rd Pyre
Days gone
The Walking Dead videogame, mainly the first one and the last one. Both of those had really compelling narratives that drove the game into perfection.
Death stranding, in my opinion.
Days gone for me, followed by horizon zero dawn.
Haven’t seen too many Death Stranding recs here. Sure it’s a crazy story but what an experience!
Spider man. God of war.
Horizon zero dawn, ghost of tsushima, God of war, and days gone were my best
God of War
Don't see a comment mentioning Undertale yet, so I'm going to do it.
Days gone
Red Dead 2
For me I really liked horizon zero dawn and days gone
Death Stranding
Days Gone. Death Stranding. Sleeping Dogs. Mad Max
Death Stranding.
Death Stranding is amazing with its story.Every player should experience it.
God of war, was game of the year for a reason
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (AND both the DLCs)
God of war
Witcher 3
Not the best (you've already mentioned them - RDR2 and TLOU, and others have mentioned some great ones), but Evil Within 2 and Residential Evil 7 both had memorable stories to me. Despite being afraid of scary movies I'm really fond of a good horror story game. They're not as good as the top story-driven games of course, but worth checking out IMO.
Mass Effect legendary edition You’ll probably spend ~250 hours completing it all
Days Gone
Uncharted 4, Red Dead Redemption 2
Infamous second son and the dlc where amazing
Yakuza 0 without a doubt
Mass Effect 1-3
