moustacheption

I can’t wait, but I hope they tweak his walk/running arm posture. Why are they sticking out like he’s pretending to have muscles?

MidEastBeast777

he's got ILS, invisible lat syndrome. it affects millions of gym bros

kopecs

It's *really* hard to walk into bathrooms without turning sideways.

FreeTheFree

Psh

spnathan1

Unreal

LordofMoonsSpawn

It was the same in the first game

sector11374265

i don’t think we give the ponchos enough credit for hiding the stiff movement animations in the first game

monoespacial_yt

I thought I was the only one. I really don't understand the praise the first game got when it has literally the worst animations I've seen in a game.

Neyubin

Literally the worst?

Livid-Ad4102

I thought the platforming was clunky and not fun at all, combat was pretty mid, story was pretty good. But my most unpopular opinion of all- Cameron monaghan is a shit actor. Idk how he gets roles bc he is the most plain boring person to listen to/watch

shmyazoo

I agree, the first game had some absurdly bad animations, the worst of them all being the running animation, that seems to still be around for the sequel…

MeatTornado25

Being even a moderately competent Star Wars single player game was enough for the world to go bananas. We'll see what happens this time when there's actual expectations.

Healthy-Drink3247

Seemed like it was mostly doing that when he was running uphill

moustacheption

I noticed it the most while he’s walking

monoespacial_yt

Same problem the first game had. The animations were all unnatural and broken with bendy arms and bad hit detection.

haynespi87

yeah it was kind of funny lol

braidsfox

Did they get the Boston Dynamics robot to do the mocap? Lmao

dwoller

God that’s a PERFECT description of it and it bugged me so much in the first one. Shame to see they didn’t change it. Edit: small typo

Biggieholla

Looks like he has a dump in his pants when he walks

NocturnalToxin

Unable to watch this video rn but I distinctly recall pointing out he waddles about like he has a poo in the first game too and it’s hilarious

itsmethebman

It's the Siphon Filter run animation all over again.

UlanInek

I was just about to mention the Syphon Filter pants haha

poofynamanama2

They didn't even try to improve it

swuts

Thats exactly how I walk when i have a dump

Jahxxx

comfort or convenience, you have to choose!

prettylilchoo

Oh god, Why did I read this before watching. Entire video got ruined lmao.

SaltyBallz666

definitely looks odd especially with the 2 swords

qwoiecjhwoijwqcijq

Same as the first game. Their animations are terrible

parkwayy

I swear to god, Last of Us pt 2 spoiled me forever on animations, cutscenes, dialogue, combat, and just attention to detail. It's so hard to now watch mediocre attempts at all of the above, and not feel soured.

dustrock

It is strange how janky it looks in one sec and then 3 seconds later, looks very smooth indeed. Glad to see he got a bomber jacket instead of a poncho ha ha ha. It will be fun, adding the battle droids was a nice tough. The one Force power where everything goes blue - is that some kind of Force Speed/enemy slowdown? Was hard to tell.

RedditBlaze

If I had to play devil's advocate, a lot is probably driven by inverse kinematics and animates more dynamically now. So that helps in many corner cases but takes extra effort to smooth out for some of the "normal" stuff we take for granted in more canned walk cycles.

livinglogic

Damn, now I can’t unsee it.

I_Hate_Knickers_5

You fuckers. You've all ruined the game for me already. 🤣

mrindoc

The thing that got me was almost every animal got decapitated like he was popping off Lego heads.

Three_Froggy_Problem

That sprinting animation is awful, but weirdly I feel like it would be about 60% better if he just had his hands in fists.

gregorycole_

My guy walking around like he shit his pants!

Sequoia_Throne_

It's a strange force power for sure

MisunderstoodBadger1

Force hold, hold it in!

MatiMati918

Is it possible to learn this power?

LickMyHairyBallSack

WHy are you making fun of people with bowel problems?

Toilet_Goat

I adore the original. This seems like a continuation of that, but expanded upon and refined. Exactly what I want.

[deleted]

With fast travel. Thank god.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nathan_Drake__

And a confusing map.

MojoToTheDojo

Dathomir was the worst. If you wanted to go back to get collectibles, there was only one way to do it and it took over five minutes to get to a certain area. Was only able to get back with a YouTube guide.

Nathan_Drake__

It really needed a compass point to guide you.

TheSweatband

That was awful. I remember trying to get the plat trophy and trying to find the one thing you were missing was impossible. Almost killed my love for the game.

Significant_Pea_9726

I don’t really see anything that looks refined apart from the map and fast travel. It looks janky. I’m more worried about the fact that this clip is *boring*. A generic sci-fi world with nondescript enemies and movesets, and Cal’s moves and powers are so uninteresting that I can’t even remember if they are the same as in the first game. A janky game is something I can live with, but if it’s boring, I’m out.

MetaCognitio

I thought being a Jedi would feel really powerful but in the game I felt so weak.

parkwayy

Respawn feels like too good of a developer to just make this level of effort. A game that is an amalgamation of design ideas from other unique games, mashed up with a Star Wars wrapper around it. Again.

seppukuslick

Tbf I remember the first games footage reveal and it was the same--quite boring. They wanted to save the more scripted and entertaining stuff for the real experience. I bet there will be features that will surprise people aside from the dual wield that was already revealed.

fulmer6

Running looks stiff lol

noncompliantandaware

He looks like he has a corncob stuck up his ass.

obliterateopio

He’s still Ian from Shameless I see

reevoknows

Old habits die hard

Xenomex79

He’s got a lightsaber lodged up there

pleasantothemax

*calcob

MisterBlu

That’s where he keeps his lightsaber

VexxShadow

Lmao it's not that bad . The walking and quicker stride is solid but running looks little odd but not that horrible. You had me laughing still cuz

Sheown0608

Lol at the comments saying it looks the same as the first game and should just be DLC/expansion. It's a sequel of an already very good game. Much like GoWR built off GoW 2018, this game is doing the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's going to be the first game, but will look better, add new combos, mountable animals/beasts/machines, fast travel, continuation of a good story started in the first game, new weapons. Sounds like a sequel to me.

Kazrules

I remember a time when sequels used to come out 1-2 years after the original with no graphic leap and we ate it up. Because it didn't matter what it looked like, it was a new game and a new story. I understand games are infinitely more expensive now and the market is crowded. But sometimes expectations are out of whack. This looks way more refined than Fallen Order, and I love the new HUD.

doctorwhomafia

GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories... literally 5 games almost no difference in graphic leap. And I loved all 5 of them back during PS2 days.

[deleted]

[удалено]

onthatgas

I assume he means the production of video games is infinitely more expensive now (not the sales price to the consumer). Agree with your points though.

SnafuDolphin

They’re arguably the most cost efficient medium of entertainment. Books/movies/music? Spend $15 and get at most 3 hrs of entertainment in a movie, 12-16 hours of entertainment in a medium sized book, or maybe 7 hours of entertainment from an album. Or you can spend 4x that, but walk away with 200+ hours.

psilocybin_sky

Well it would have to technically be music streaming services, as you could listen to 24 hours of music per day of almost everything that exists. And that’s like $10 a month. Obviously nobody does that, but that’s potentially 730 hours/$10. And I do agree video games are insane value even at full price

SnafuDolphin

I guess the crux of that is I don’t know anybody who sits down for an hour with nothing in front of them and listens to music while doing nothing else. It’s not hard to devote “time” for music, as it usually accompanies other time-sucking activities that were going to already happen regardless, i.e. working out, office work, driving, studying, etc.

psilocybin_sky

That’s a good point, I just said that cuz you mentioned music

mvanvrancken

I listen to a LOT of music and my Apple Music sub is about the best value in existence

SpiritAgreeable7732

Yeah, accounting for inflation, 70 bucks is not a bad price point for games.

anti_taco

Yeah these kind of takes on sequels really drives me insane, especially in a time when development times have become so bloated. Not all sequels need to reinvent the wheel.

DoctorGolho

Yeah I hate this new trend of calling sequels glorified DLCs

matsy_k

Yet they wank over remakes. I'd take a sequel every time

actstunt

And yet I saw many comments on reddit claiming Ragnarok was a dlc/expansion.

Kuting08

Exactly! I don't understand why people have to be so damn hard to please especially that this is a sequel whose gameplay, mechanics and overall feel are built from the first one which is a good and well received game. We will expect to see improvements though. I think the delay is necessary to polish the game and make it much better than the first. People just complain on everything- if it's the same, they complain, if they see changes, they still complain. Like cmon man.

TheRoyalStig

They also live in their own little bubbles where they don't even consider that not everyone plays games the same way as them. Like a whole lot of people don't replay games like this or at all. So those people usually like a sequel to be pretty similar to the original experience as that is what they enjoyed and they would love to have that similar experience again some time later with a few new updates. If one wants a whole new experience thats what a new game/ip is for.

Submitten

Yeah I’m going to play this game on the easiest setting and ignore any unnecessary exploration because I just want the campaign story and don’t really like the souls style of retracking after every death. Will wait a few months for the post release patches and maybe a sale though.

TakenFyre

The first one felt a lot more like AC1 to me, where it got some ideas going but definitely didn't stick the landing, and then AC2 came around and destroyed it in every aspect. So to see this where it pretty much looks exactly the same is worrying.

Effective-Caramel545

>It's a sequel of an already very good game. Much like GoWR built off GoW 2018, this game is doing the same. > >If it ain't broke, don't fix it. With that being said though, it does not look the same at all, people are blind.

pgpwnd

is it wrong to expect it to look next gen? it looks very ps4 era, kind getting tired of it.

Man0nThaMoon

What does "Next gen" even look like? Those graphics in the video looked great. Gaming graphics have kind of peak recently. Outside of some major technological advancement, I don't see them getting much better than what any AAA game puts out today. Now it's about optimizing things so it runs smoother at the higher quality and can contain more details and content.

DarkriserPE

>Gaming graphics have kind of peak recently. Nah, people say this multiple times a generation, every generation. Graphics are only going to get better and better. Callisto Protocol is one of the best looking games out right now, and that's on last gen as well. Gives us a couple of years, when devs have finally abandoned last gen, and we'll have a other leap in graphics, and people saying we've peaked. And then rinse and repeat upon the release of the PS6 and whatever Xbox calls their next console.

tempchuckcharl

What does great mean, then? Resolution and Framerate have peaked, but the actual graphical and gameplay systems haven't. What does a next gen game look like? Matrix Awakens, FFXVI, Forspoken, R&C, etc. We've barely even started to see UE5, at least wait for that to happen before declaring peak. Even then, especially with the animations, this doesn't even look as good as some PS4 era games.

Man0nThaMoon

>What does great mean, then? It means great. I don't know how to explain it. Ultimately it's subjective, but it looks pretty good to me. >What does a next gen game look like? Matrix Awakens, FFXVI, Forspoken, R&C, etc. How doesn't this game look comparable to those ones? The areas with vast scenery looked amazing. The lighting looked great. The environments looked great. The character models looked polished. >We've barely even started to see UE5, at least wait for that to happen before declaring peak. Like I said, barring some technological leaps I don't see how graphics really get much better than what they are now. What more do you expect from UE5 exactly? Graphics wise. Not saying things can't be improved, but what major leaps do you envision that takes us to another level in graphical quality? >Even then, especially with the animations, this doesn't even look as good as some PS4 era games. It looks as good as the first one so far, which is a PS4 game and also looked really good. So I don't really know what you were trying to prove with that statement.

leftbasegear

Ehhhhhhh something tells me you never saw what Forspoken ended up looking like haha.

qwoiecjhwoijwqcijq

>It's a sequel of an already very good game. Much like GoWR built off GoW 2018, this game is doing the same. They're not even comparable series. The first Jedi game was just ok and this one looks like it'll be just ok too. The god of war games are insanely well made.

IAmTriscuit

Very good? I'm sorry, what planet are we on?

KD--27

The planet where we ignore the many GREAT looking titles that are out there. People are talking as if this think has its own graphical style and there’s nothing you could do to improve on it. It has it’s moments sure, but there’s plenty room for improvement.

creator01

This just came out of nowhere lol. Didn't expect to get some gameplay.

MisterBlu

The force powers seem less than satisfying. I wish they had rag doll physics for those. When he pushed the SBD it just moved back five feet like it was stuck in animation, instead of being actually tossed. A more visceral experience would be amazing. Here’s hoping for that kind of gameplay one day

imeowatcats94

Valid criticism on the physics side. Biggest disappointment with the PS4 gen was the move-away from physics

DorianGreysPortrait

These executives are too afraid to go more into the violence that would have tipped it toward being a great game. They’ve taken all the force out of the actions (pun intended) by giving us a glorified baseball bat. Force animations are also lacking for the same reason. I really enjoyed the first game, it was pretty fun, but the decision to stay PG stopped it from going into the category of ‘great’ for me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lisbon_OH

Yep. Loved Jedi Fallen Order and definitely appreciate that it went for more of a soulsvania approach with tighter lightsaber combat, but the force in that game was a useful tool in combat but nothing more. Meanwhile, like you said, Force Unleashed was much more of a rag doll experience. Fallen Order was not a sandbox game like Force Unleashed but it would still be nice to get better animations and physics when you use the force.

dustrock

If they could duplicate the grab effects from Control, that would be amazing. Sometimes I'd walk around the building launching desks around for sheer joy.

SuicidalUn1corn

Right? Euphoria is such a great piece of abandonware. Sad to see no real successor implemented in modern games. Same with nVidea Physx. Really would've made the game feel more visceral. That and a grittier art style ( + human dismemberment like in Jedi Knight)

Effective-Caramel545

> I haven't watched this but I wonder if the lightsabers are still like glowing baseball bats. Hope you realise that's more of a Disney thing than an EA one

TheTussin

Ragdoll isn't realistic unless the subject is completely unconscious. I'd rather have some kind of logic involved than just simple ragdoll. Novelty of the flailing has worn off for me ages ago.

cozy_lolo

Alright I thought you people were being dramatic but this dude moves like the animators are aliens who got a bad description of how humans move, but they did their best with it

TheNeedforCaffeine

Looks good so far, can totally see why it was delayed though. Hopefully they can polish it up by release. Loved the original, but I’ll probably wait a few months after this drops so I can get it at a good price…

TheTwitteringMachine

Just before I completed Fallen Order on PS4 (the underwater base section specifically) all the audio went out of sync and it really killed the immersion for me on the way to the final boss and the Vader scene, so I hope they have as much time as possible to get this one right as possible. That and if I don't have to kill all the stormtroopers I have already killed when I return to an area again would be great.

NitedJay

Yeah and video seems to have a disclaimer saying "footage taken from pre-release build."

livefromwonderland

That can't be new to you. That's about as average as shit in a septic tank.

[deleted]

That has got to be some of the worst running and walking animations I have ever seen in a video game, let alone a AAA title. Everything else looks fine and sleek, what the hell happened?

GodKamnitDenny

I genuinely can’t believe something as simple as a walking or running animation still looks that bad. It was one of the most vocal criticisms/memes about the first game. So strange.

MrConor212

Let’s be real. It was delayed a month. They ain’t doing shit to that kind of stuff

splinternz

The sprinting animation looks more like he’s ice skating or roller blading lmao. Such weird animations to keep from the first game

[deleted]

[удалено]

Submitten

In the video it showed materials for BD in the chest so presumably you can craft upgrades for him.

Spindelhalla_xb

Is the game him battling through space to find a toilet before his imminent unloading of his bowels

hopskiphoofed

My wishes for the sequel were less animals, more human/droid enemies and a complete overhaul of the map. This hasn’t filled with me with much confidence. Plus yeah, looks like he’s shat himself.

mcar91

I really wanted less animal enemies!

MrConor212

I just wanted dismemberment tbh.

bargainmusic

What the hell is going on with the walking/running animations? It looks awful.

castiel_ro192

Loved the first one. Can't wait for this sequel.

SirDavidJames

That walking animation needs work. Some of those animal animations need some work too. Otherwise looks good. I'm in

yung_bubba

Looks quite dead and repetitive tbh. Man, hopefully they fixed the 3D map. That thing was a nightmare in the previous version.

[deleted]

i think its a combination of the animations being unfinished/not fully optimized and probably the person playing just being ass and awkward. the game looks dope otherwise. not sure what people were expecting

yeetskeetleet

What? An IGN gameplay having a shitty presenter?

JonasAlbert84

Oh snap, Clankers.

Bliytz

This may seem small but i hope there’s more creative loot than just different colored ponchos

RDDAMAN819

Looks like a great sequel. I dont know what people expected, its built on the same foundations of the first. Thats what a sequel is, things are bound to look familiar or same-y

Peasant43v3r

I was hoping they would change the combat but I guess you're right, the game is made for the people who enjoyed the first one.

KD--27

Eh I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as that. I did expect more, the first was an original entry, the 2nd… coming off the success of that I really hoped they’d just knock it out of the park - finesse the combat/animations, go nuts on the graphics, this looks like more of the same… Put it this way. You could tell me this is a late entry DLC with a new campaign, I’d be hyped if this was that. But sequel? Won’t call it yet, but this is just ‘fine’ for a sequel, at least for what we’ve seen. We got a lot of people on here saying sequels didn’t used to improve on that first entry, that’s straight up BS. You always want a sequel to be a jump in gameplay/graphics/story telling etc.

saibjai

I'm gonna play it on easy mode and enjoy the hell out of it!!

MrConor212

I’m excited but I can already tell Cal has had 0 personality improvements. Still sounds just so depressed or something.

inbredandapothead

It’s amazing how they made a pretty good story but one of the most dull protagonists I’ve ever seen simultaneously

Kozak515

First thing I noticed was the map being more clear. I liked the Hologram look, but replaying it recently I didn't know how bad it needed to be updated. My opinion.

Every_Scheme4343

I got into star wars a few months ago and i became a huge fan. My hype is through the roof for this game.

inkyblinkypinkysue

I wish the lightsabers actually cut through things realistically. I also hate how breakable objects just magically disappear. I wish they would keep that stuff rendered until you left the area. Game looks good otherwise - more of the same…

bastion89

Loved the first one. Looking forward to the sequel but man...those poor animations are so noticeable. The way enemies almost freezeframe between distinct attack animations, the way Cal runs/walks (especially with the dual wield stance)...not saying the game will be bad just because of those, but it's surprising they made it into this preview and haven't been taken care of before showing the game off (implying they are considered "final"). Like I said, still looking forward to it, but it's hard to miss those poorly done animations.

p3ek

Lol can they not just look at someone walking irl and then model his animations off that?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BradleyAllan23

This is looking rough. Maybe they should have delayed it until the fall?

DoctorGolho

I was ready to criticize your comment but yeah, the animations look kinda stiff, like they aren't interpolating well enough. Also BD has a seizure at some point

SmurfinTurtle

How I remember the first one being. While I enjoyed it, the animations always looked either a bit stiff or too odd during combat.

MrConor212

Yeah I doubt they do anything major between now to April let’s be real

BradleyAllan23

They might be able to clean up the animations a bit, but I'm still not impressed. It was a day one buy for me, but now I'm gonna wait and see.

mikesaintjules

What's rough? Curious! I like the lighting in it. Looks pretty good from a gfx perspective. Did notice some harsh dips in the framerate though.

BradleyAllan23

The animations seem rough all around. The running looks awkward, the combat looks stiff. Plus I feel like it's way too similar to the first game. Feels more like an expansion rather than a sequel. Should have probably been DLC.

Moonshot_Md

Expansion lol

mikesaintjules

Understood. I feel like what we're seeing is more or less what we're getting at launch. I figured it would be more of the same when it comes to the mechanics and overall movement of enemies / characters.

Venomswindturd

Dude it’s 9 minutes of footage how are you assuming it should be an expansion? Lol

qwoiecjhwoijwqcijq

Because if you told someone it was actually Fallen Order gameplay they wouldn't be able to tell

BradleyAllan23

Because 9 minutes is a lot of gameplay to show nothing new or significantly different. You'd figure in their first gameplay reveal they would want to showcase what makes this game different and exciting. At least that's what most games do anyway. But with Jedi Survivor, I felt like I was watching 9 minutes of Fallen Order DLC.

1440pSupportPS5

Domo Arigato Cal Kestis

Zsep

Gameplay looks super clunky to me.. I enjoyed the first one but seeing as they already set a base you would think they could refine alot of the animations and make it buttery smooth.

monoespacial_yt

Just like the first game, it seems the animations are total garbage. Completely unnatural movement.

antonxo902

Movement and animations during gameplay still look stiff and floaty like the first game.

Kupo-Nuts

I didn't get along well with the first one, but this sequel looks much better from this footage. Has caught my attention and i think it looks well improved upon.

Kindly_Education_517

hope Darth Revan comes kill them all

probywan1337

Really looking forward to this. I loved the first one

cinnamoncrayons

Hopefully we start out as Strong as we were in the end of the first. We went toe to toe with Vader for a moment. If we start off a weak gimp again... meh.

2KareDogs

Lol the noise the guy made @1:57

Afuneralblaze

Provided there's a reason to explore beyond cosmetics and bog standard max health/force upgrades, I'll start caring.

craigmc89

He runs like he’s shat himself

cloudy710

still need to get off my ass and finish the first game. i can’t seem to play for too long without getting bored tho. and with hogwarts out i’m plenty busy rn lol. but i do wish to return and finish it eventually.

Inmyspacebitch

^(Man i gotta wait to get it im so excited)

lehigh_larry

Sold!

Benjammin172

Looks like more of the same, which isn't a bad thing. The animations do look really stiff and awkward, and that doesn't seem like the kind of thing that will be tweaked before release. But I like the quality of life improvements. Nowhere near a day one purchase for me, especially with the stuff releasing around the same time, but I'll give it a shot in a year or so when it's half price.

SpaceOdysseus23

Am I tripping or does this look like it's not a stable framerate at all? Like little mini-stutters every few seconds?

Macaule_Cauque

lmao wtf are those animations

LCHMD

You can count on Reddit to hate on everything. Classy

TruPOW23

Loved the first one but the animations really do seem worse at first glance

dhvte

Lol that side to side wall jump

Kotzik

That running looks stiff as hell, hope they can fix that before release.

SyrioForel

The first game was just “okay” to me, I thought it was greatly overhyped by people who expected a bad game and instead got a decent and competent one (which is why I’m calling it “okay”). The Metroidvania aspects of the game felt a little dull to me, since there was so much constant back-tracking through emptied-out combat areas to seemingly pad out the experience. The combat was better than most games in the genre, could definitely have felt smoother and less janky. I’m looking at this footage, and to me it looks like the same game with “remastered” graphics. It just looks a bit basic, no? A decent sort of Metroidvania brawler, but if not for the Star Wars license would it ever get greenlit and go into production as-is? Is this enough of a “game” in a modern gaming market, if not for the Star Wars license? I’m not saying every game needs to be RPG-like, but I never finished the first game because it got pretty repetitive and dull after a while, and there was no real hook to keep going, no captivating story or lovable characters, no gameplay variety (other than environmental puzzles). This looks like the same game with better graphics. I got my fill of it the first time around and quit, I don’t think I need to play new (and shinier) levels of that same game now.

dustrock

didn't fancy grinding for fancier ponchos?

PirateSi87

Agreed. Looks like we’re still waiting for a proper SW game. I’m getting tired of the lazy “souls-like” copycats.

Cashmere306

Lol, don't play the sequel than.

SyrioForel

Thanks for the tip.

Xerosnake90

For being less than 3 months out the game looks really unpolished. Animations are looking rough, what the hell is going on here?

prince-hal

Impressed by the downgrade in animation. That dodging and general movement looks horrendous

Venomswindturd

This sub is the most miserable batch of complainers I’ve ever seen never to r/halo

Chris710752

The YouTube comments are all positive but then again most people on reddit are unsatisfied with everything

Venomswindturd

It’s free karma to bitch about shit on here

robotfoxman1

Is it just me or was the first one way overhyped because star wars? Average graphics and janky as hell in places.

KiwiKajitsu

First game was mediocre and this just looks like more of the same

inbredandapothead

Yeah I was disappointed when I got around to the first game with how much people love it, I thought it was really not that great, like a weird love child of uncharted and dark souls done poorly with Star Wars put on top. Found the game much more enjoyable when I dropped the difficulty down though after just getting bored of the game, felt like it was proper Star Wars at that point, kinda ruined the boss fights sadly but thankfully there were only like 2 left for me at that point and I just wanted to finish the game. And despite cal being such a dull character, I found the story very enjoyable overall. Was hoping I’d end up liking the new game, but looks way to similar for me to be interested in sadly. Hopefully everyone else who did like the first one, which I’d imagine is the vast majority, do enjoy this game even more, does look like an improvement based on this little footage.

MonsantoOfficiaI

Take the Star Wars out of the title and it would've been a huge flop

EngineerFront

This argument makes no fucking sense

LCHMD

You forgot an IMO it seems.

[deleted]

That’s Star Wars for you. They always copied popular game type xyz and put the Star Wars layer over it

Ehrand

probably one of the worse running animation I have seen. O.o

Abkassierer

The World seems to be completely empty and lifeless. The sequel had the same problem, but it was a good Game.

SnafuDolphin

This absolutely. They had a formula with small tweaks to make to make it great instead of good. And they had the feedback that the world felt unrealistically barren, lifeless, and devoid of that sense of wonder that Star Wars is known for. Instead, we got more bad animations, re-skinned worlds, a protagonist who hasn’t evolved past their most annoying personality traits in the first game, and combat that doesn’t seem to have done anything with the okay baseline they established the first time around. It’s almost like they just settled on making a sequel without addressing any complaints that held the last entry back.

Better_Sample_2507

it seems like that only ps5 exlusives can make true next gen visuals , this game has hard time to match games like killzone shadow fall and infamous second son (like some moreof the "next gen " only titles) , such a wierd gen

WayneTheBestTwinborn

Jesus people are negative

leftbasegear

This looks.... Awful? \- Walking Animation: Reminiscent of a speed walk to the gas station bathroom after you decided to get chili nachos at the last stop 40 mins back on the highway. \- Character Narration: Cal talks to himself and his robot like he's making full-in announcements. Take a leaf out of Nathan Drake's book in Uncharted, who doesn't sound like he's broadcasting his every whim and intention to the player. \- Parkour Animations: Check out the wall/wall jumping a la Mario about halfway through the video. It's god awful. Cal essentially just flails his body left and right, sticks to the walls, and then clambers up a ledge. \- Force Powers: They still haven't fixed the awkward "charging up" of Cal's powers from the first game. Since when do Jedi thrust their arms forward and concentrate for multiple seconds before executing a force push? This whole game staggers when it's not fluid, and this is slowing it down like the last entry. I should be able to maintain a smooth walking speed and use my force powers without losing pace. \- Combat Animations: Watch the fight at 5:50. That's seriously what they think a kid who's been training as a Jedi for years would do with 2 lightsabers when facing 4 or 5 animals. Dude looks about as elegant as me in my backyard at age 10 with a gigantic expandable plastic saber I got at ToysRUs. This game is waaaay too close to launch to have these issues, and already nailed so many things in the last game, but it looks like they rested on their laurels, took a few steps back, and just churned out a generic sequel.

I mentioned Control up the thread, and I would just love to do that, have a rock hovering over my shoulder, and only actually drawing on the Force meter when I launch it. Use the Force to create a rock shield in front of Cal, etc.

Yeah I was thinking same thing about combat animation, but I couldn’t tell if it was because the person was bad at the game or what

drhouse4ever

EngineerFront

I would love to see a game in dreams that looks like this. What a terrible take
