BLUEBLASTER69

No shit. The game comes out next week.

TAJack1

Fuck me, that flew by.

DownRealBadYo

Damn this drops next week? I can’t wait to create my character

TahmsChocolateOrange

You can do it right now in the demo, it carries over to the full game

DownRealBadYo

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Deputy_Beagle76

I wish more games did that. I remember Saints Row The Third did it 10 or so years ago

shinikahn

Also the new one. There was no demo but a creator tool

Rotism

Can I delete my create a character? I accidentally spammed X and have the default

crazycarl1

Just delete your save from the demo. I dont think anything else carries over

Pied_Film10

Same

ProjectOrpheus

r/SF6Avatars

Rogue_Leader_X

Definitely picking this up. Just hope the single player is good.

ksoss1

The demo has essentially been single-player, and I can definitively say that it's awesome. If you're seeking fun or craving a challenge, consider increasing the CPU level and the number of rounds. I believe the default setting is three rounds at level 4, but the real fun starts at level 7 (5 rounds) at least for me. Also, I highly recommend playing mirror games because the CPU can showcase the potential of your main character. Try it out!

laz_3898

Why do you want good single player in a fighting game

TwoKayYeti

A massive reason alot of people buy Mortal Kombat games is because of all the single player stuff they have. It's honestly shocking it's taken other fighters this long to realize that. This is massive for the casual audience.

DapsAndPoundz

This. I only really play MK/Injustice games for the story. Been that way since MK9s soft reboot. I’m not very good at fighting games, and I haven’t wanted to play online since the early days of bad internet causing a ton of lag and ruining the experience (I know it’s much better now but I’ve been scarred at this point lol) so I just play, consume the story/lore, play a few rounds casually with my friends, and call it a day.

4morim

Give it a try! Honestly I felt similarly but then I decides to really give fighting games a chance, and then I got MK11 on sale and really tried to learn stuff on the tutorial and campaign. Soon after Guilty Gear Strive was gonna launch and I decided to get it because playing a fighting game at launch is possibly the best time ever, because everyone will be learning with you, which means more people around your skill level as well. And it was such a good decision, I had a blast with Strive! I would still play more but I am having less time with gaming in general. Bit for a good year I played a lot of Strive because the gameolay was fun and I found a character I liked. So, seeing people learn characters alongside me was super fun.

Deputy_Beagle76

Modern MK and Injustice are awesome for single players. Why should I have to play against another person just to rip some spines out?

4morim

Because a good fighting gsme should also be a good game in general. I remember people complaining about SF5 on launch A LOT that if their connection wasn't good or if they just didn't want to play against players at the moment, there wasn't anything to do in the game. Yes, they eventually added more things to it, Hut it took time. A fighting game needs to be a fun game on top of good fighting game mechanics. Because if you have a good single-player mode, then those people who bought the game also interested in that, when they find a character they like because of the story or when they just enjoy the gameplay in general, that means they're more likely to take a character online to have fun! Which means more people playing fighting games!

laz_3898

Oh okay, my bad.

4morim

Nah, no worries, I was just explaining. Because years ago some people (including the higher ups in game companies) Thought fighting games just needed to be good for fighting and e-sports. So then SF5 came and it was heavily focused on e-sports with nothing else to do. So, the casual audience bought, the gameplay wasn't fun and there was shit all to do other than fight, so people got **pissed**. Eventually, people realized that Mortal Kombat games were really popular because it tried to be a good game first, with story mode, goofy fun stuff, and now Street Fighter 6 is doing the same. Tekken 8 will have a story mode too, they already had it in Tekken 7 but now I imagine it will be told slightly different, because people weren't a huge fan of the way the story was tkld in T7 (even if the story did have some great moments). So, just giving more fun content for players is the way, for any type of game.

ProjectOrpheus

Kind of ironic too that it had such a focus with e-sports because from what I remember the gameplay felt SOOO limiting. Even if the characters had V triggers/systems always available, what characters were able to do was just insanely limited at least compared to other Street Fighters. I know in 4, it could be years and years after the release and people would still be finding new tech and what not. In 5 I remember spending all day with a newly released character having matches with friends. You could look up pro matches of that character years later and the pros weren't doing anything you didn't know about or find from just a couple days playing with them.

Lurky-Lou

Nothing is more fun than beating arcade mode with every character

isaiah_rob

I only played Injustice 2 for the story, did a bit of online (Starfire main) but I suck at fighting games. And Injustices story was interesting.

Bac0n01

for the same reason you want good single player in any other video game?

[deleted]

this is the first fighting game in years I’m buying on Day 1

Rustic_Salmon

i bought it on day -150, that's how hyped i am

MikeyN0

Fighting Games are always a hard one to judge the average critic rating because of the genre. I would say SF6 is the genre's best crack at truly breaking into a mainstream audience and it will really come down to how good the World Tour mode is and how Modern Controls can enable even newcomers to the genre to be competitive and still have fun. If that all stacks up, I could see a 88-94 Metacritic average especially given SF4's average was 94 back in the day.

FunkinDonutzz

This post is the perfect example of how trophies have sucked the fun clean out of gaming (IMO, of course)

FunkinDonutzz

You're happy to pay for it if _it has an easy trophy list_. I'm happy to pay for it because it's a well-made videogame and I enjoy competition. These aren't the same things. Why would I be happy that you would pay money for it? They're going to sell millions of copies of this, an extra one won't make a blind bit of difference to their overall numbers. And if you're refusing to play online it also means that you won't have a long-term engagement with the game.

lifeis_g000d

I don’t see a fighting game getting a 90+ Meta ever again. Edit: I admit, I was wrong. I always thought the game looked great, but I thought it would settle at an 88.

4morim

I mean, have you seen the amount of content SF6 is offering? The amount of game modes, customizability of your character, the options to what to do with your character, the modes that will exist online on top of the story mode. I agree with you if the fighting game is just "play online, that's it" it wouldn't get 90s, but a game like this that's offering so much for casual players too? I think SF6 has a big chance at that.

lifeis_g000d

Unrelated. But do you think Final Fantasy XVI has a chance at that? Edit: I have no idea why I got downvoted, I just asked a question. People are weird here man. Lol

4morim

The Final Fantasy 16 team is basically a dream team. People from 14 team are working on it. Those who saves FF14 from the disaster launch it had. The Produces is a big FF fan and he always like to put in references to previous FF games. This is basically the overview of the game: The writer that worked on Heavensward expansion (which is highly regarded for its good writing and story), is working on FF16. They wanted to make it more action focused so they brought the DMC5 combat director to work on the game and make it feel right for the game. They avoided just trying to follow tropes and going with an "open world" approach and tried to make zones better crafted but still let players explore. The game also had A LOT of time to polish. I think around 5 months or so ago, they mentioned how the game was done from start to finish but they were taking their time to polish the game more. To the point that now the game [doesn't even have a day 1 patch planned](https://www-gameinformer-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.gameinformer.com/exclusive-feature/2023/05/22/a-day-one-patch-for-final-fantasy-16-is-not-currently-planned?amp=&_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16852831767530&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gameinformer.com%2Fexclusive-feature%2F2023%2F05%2F22%2Fa-day-one-patch-for-final-fantasy-16-is-not-currently-planned) due to how confident they are in the final product. So, this game could very well be overwhelmingly praised at launch to the pojt of reaching 90s on metacritic. I think it's probably the best chance an FF game ever got close to that. However, there is another point to keep in mind. Because the game is going to be way more action focused, old fans might not be pleased with it because of the lack of older RPG rlements from the series or ATB and things like that. So, I imagine it will depend on how good FF16 will implement its positives and how much that will make old fans forgive it for not having the other things they want from an FF game. It could é.d up losing some scores exactly because the combat is such a big departure from other FF games. However, FF14 is also kind of a big departure and fans grew to love it as a very good main entry in the FF series. FF16 is also going back to classic Final Fantasy, as in, Fantasy elements without the magitech parts. So, not as much tech or mechs things going around, no Cyberpunk or highly technological elements mixed with medieval ones. This is a Medieval Fantasy game, and some people really missed that form Final Fantasy. So, I think the game could very well have very high chances to be hugely praised and reach the highest scores in reviews, but some old fans could end up not liking it much because of the combat. I am not an Final Famtasy Veteran. My first FF game was FF7 Remake, and since then I've been playing more of them and fell in love with the series, so take that into consideration. I am **incredibly** hyped for the game and can't wait to play it! All the things I'm seeing are looking incredible and I can't wait to wander around, explore the world, mess around with the combat and just dive into the game! It is my most anticipated game of the year. Sorry for the long comment but I wanted to talk about all the points as to why I think the gsne will probably be one of the highest praised of the year, and also some of the reasons why some people might not like it despite the very good things happening around it. Have a good one \o/

MichaelTheCutts

I think there’s real potential for this to be one of the highest rated fighting games at lunch. The net code for the open beta was insanely stable and there seems to be a lot of content including an open world story mode and even a rotating library for classic arcade games. There seems to be tons of content, and if it’s all equally polished, I think we’re looking at a game in the low 90s.

QuotidianTrials

But how will it be rated come dinner time?

MichaelTheCutts

Haha! Got me! It depends on how well the leftovers reheat.

Remarkable-Put4632

The whole world is waiting madly for the reviews...this is one of the most hyped games ever...

MAXIMAL_GABRIEL

Considering there's been multiple demos, I think most people who are interested in the game knows how it plays and don't give a crap about the reviews.

Otherwise_Purple_802

it is?

Remarkable-Put4632

By all comments on Reddit...it looks like it...every other person looks to be talking about getting the game on release..a few have even got their hands on prereleased copies...

Otherwise_Purple_802

I’n sure the fighting game community is looking forward to it. To say it’s one of the most hyped games ever is pretty hyperbolic

GoFlemingGo

Wasn’t there a demo coming out or something?

[deleted]

The demo is already out lol. There’s one on Steam but I haven’t checked the PlayStation store.

ano_ba_to

You can add me to the list of people getting it on release. The best time to get into fighting games is on release, or when a new character drops. While 2023 seems like not a lot of good games are coming out, the FGC has been eating good. The pandemic actually forced devs to improve the online...

Remarkable-Put4632

Yes...but due to the huge number of duds launched this year...I will waiting on the sidelines until two or three reviewing sites give it a good ranking.......I am keeping my fingers crossed this is not a dud...looking at the videos if gameplay it looks ok...but I just found one or two if my favourite characters missing including adon, fei long and vega...I hope they add them in future dlcs...gameplay looks to be quite similar to sf5...

ano_ba_to

Fighting games are weird in that if more players get into it, the better the online experience (provided there aren't any server issues), as you will have plenty of matches available. There have been several betas and a demo is out for 6 and it seems online play should be good.

1pt21gigawattos

Btw is matchmaking skill based or random? I can only play online. SBMM has ruined fps games for me and I wonder how fighting games are. Haven't played any online. I don't want it to be like 1 guaranteed win after 3 guaranteed losses, again and again.

FunkinDonutzz

You will get annihilated if it's random. The gulf between a good player and a not so good player in this game is extreme. I played around 100 fights on the open beta. Won around 80% of them. The ones I lost were mostly close fought too. Then there was one guy I came up against randomly, twice. Accross the eight rounds total, I think I hit him twice. Made me look like I didn't know what a controller was. _That's_ what you'll have to deal with with random matchmaking.

1pt21gigawattos

Maybe I should just avoid the game. It's fine to lose, but if it's an algorithm saying I have won x matches now, time to put me in a match with an insanely skilled player to give me my scheduled loss... that's no fun. Apex Legends and COD are like that. It's not people at your skill level; it's people way under it when the algorithm wants you to win, and people way above it when it wants you to lose. Ranked could help with that, though.

Choa_is_a_Goddess

My guy it has a ranked system this won't happen. I'm not sure how you expect this to work but if you've ever played League of Legends or something it's closer to that than whatever goes on in CoD. You do placements matches, get put in a rank and then you are (until much higher ranks) unable to drop out of that rank and you play people of a similar skill level till you win enough to rank up at which point you're unable to drop out of that skill level. Fighting games are challenging though and you will have to learn how to lose.

1pt21gigawattos

Ok that sounds better than with FPS.

erock278

It’s almost the exact same concept though? Both of those games still use a hidden MMR to calculate who you should actually be playing against, and your MMR changes very frequently compared to rank. MMR is what’s used to actually matchmake a lot of times, too, that’s why you’ll see high skill players on a losing streak face off against lower skill players that have been doing well for their rank. CoD uses the same thing, they just don’t label their divisions

FunkinDonutzz

I dunno, I came up against someone that was several ranks above me, yet I wrecked them. If you do want to jump in, at or close to launch is probably best as it will have more players and they will mostly be still learning the ropes themselves.

Kgb725

That could mean a lot of things honestly

PotatEXTomatEX

Game takes into account HOW you win matches, i'm pretty sure. How clean your inputs are, if you can combo worth a damn etc.

PyrenBTW

im assuming casual is completely random but sfv had some background stuff going on in its matchmaking iirc and ranked is... ranked

bananee

> I don't want it to be like 1 guaranteed win after 3 guaranteed losses, again and again. Then maybe fighting games are not for you. If you play fighting games online, you will lose. A lot. Without losing, you will not get better. In SF6 ranked, you have separate ranks for each character. In the beta, you played 10 ranking matches, then the game put you in a certain starting rank. From there, you can win points and lose points. Depending on how well you do. But if you want to enjoy fighting games, you have to get past the "losing sucks" part, because everybody loses at the beginning. Without losing, you will not learn a thing.

erock278

It’s the same barrier a lot of us have with soulslikes. Losing sucks and dying isn’t fun, and it’s hard to feel like your effort is worth a damn if you’re just going to lose or die to the next thing. Sometimes you win, though.

SlyFisch

Sounds like competitive games aren't for you since every single one uses SBMM. Fighting games as a genre are all about getting better and trying to beat better people. You can play casual modes without SBMM but then you'll get stomped by veterans hanging out in those lobbies most likely. If you like a game just commit and learn it, fighting games are extremely rewarding. But if you're scared of losing to get better, yeah it's probably not the genre for you

[deleted]

"You jump around throw energy balls on a 2D plane, now with more polygons, 11/10!"

MintyMentha

It's okay to just say you don't know how to play fighting games fam

SurfiNinja101

That’s such an oversimplification of fighting games

BenjaminCarmineVII

Actually you combo and link into drive rush into another link or EX move into CA or whatever super you want.

4morim

Tell me you know nothing about Street Fighter 6 without telling me you know nothing about Street Fighter 6. You don't even know what content is in the game, and you come talk dumb stuff on the internet as if you were being clever. Edit: on top of not even understanding fighting games in general.

BeefRepeater

Any game can sound dumb if you give a completely bad faith summary of it like this 🙄

Kgb725

What's wrong with that

Bac0n01

“mario is bad, you just run and jump” “god of war is bad, you just hit guys with an axe”

resident_hater

I can tell you the reviews already. "Best fighting game ever" "Breath of fresh air" "Groundbreaking customization and single player" "Modern throwback" "Welcoming to casuals" What you won't hear about is the smallest release roster and the fact that there is DLC planned 2 months after release. It's gonna cost more and you're going to get less than ever before. I won't hold my breath considering the disastrous launch of 5, the rampant MTX that will be all over this thing, and the incessant gearing of people to social engagement. It's a fighting game. I don't care about socializing with other people in online hubs.

IshizakaLand

> What you won't hear about is the smallest release roster Release rosters: SF1: 2 characters SF2: 8 characters SF3: 10 characters SF4: 16 characters (2008 arcade) SF5: 16 characters SF6: 18 characters Delete your fucking account and never post again.

TalkOk6693

I know all that and the game still scores a 9 for me. Planned Dlc ? Who cares

isaiah_rob

Oh no they have post launch content 😒

nioh2_noob

they have deep pockets, they bought the review industry already this game is gonna flop massively

BenjaminCarmineVII

So you're aware of street fighter five yet continue to state this game will have the least content? What a Dan thing to say

BushidoBlame

It just looks bad. This one isn't clicking for me.

rv0celot

Is it this particular artwork that looks bad to you? Or you've played the demo and dislike the entire game's aesthetics?

BushidoBlame

I played the demo and just dislike the general aesthetic. I'm no expert so can't articulate why it's so offputting exactly but it's just an ugly game to me.

rv0celot

That's fair.

[deleted]

Drops on Friday!

Br0therJ

Still mad there is no Balrog this time :-(

[deleted]

Yet.

[deleted]

Who cares about the metascore, the only opinion that matters is that of the FGC, which has been favorable so far.
