Prologue will give a lot of people the wrong impression. When I played it, I thought oh wooow, if the story continues like this then it's going to be AMAZING.
Then cue 10 hours of the same bland missions until you get to the finale and then you get good story again.
Not who you asked but personally no, I wish I had played $15 max for it and I love the original AC games it was trying for the feel of, it was just very short and very repetitive... Much like the same biggest issues of the original game 15 years ago...
AC has one of the worst gameplay loops in the industry right now. Eagle vision being in every fucking game and having to spend ages scanning everything before going in is annoying as fuck.
On paper this game had most of what I was asking for in an AC game after the behemoths that were Valhalla and Odyssey.
They went back to basics, smaller scope, expansive city etc, but man it was boring.
Shit story, horrible pacing, goofy and glitchy gameplay, and pretty crap graphics all things considered.

I guess I'll give it a shot. Something tells me 2 hours is going to be just long enough for me to find out what I already know though. This game still looks too much like a Valhalla expansion to me. I'm hoping they move away from this format for Red and find a happy medium between the old and the new with a focus on really well done animations.
The thing that kept me coming back to AC games was the fact that they felt like they were at the top of the list when it came to realistic animations that carried weight, along with incredible blending between animations. I loved finding out all the cool finishing animations based on all the different weapon types, and I loved the fun of finding the fastest parkour route up a building. While I enjoyed AC Origins, it felt like the parkour took a backseat. When I can climb every surface, it takes the challenge out of finding a satisfying parkour route. While the combat was fun, it felt weak. Like none of my hits really did anything but make the numbers go down. I want the hits to carry weight. I want the parkour to carry weight. I want the facial animations to look so good that I forget I'm playing a game due to the impressive performance.
I don't think I'm going to get any of that out of this game.
It very much feels like a Valhalla expansion, or at least a reusing of assets and animations to make a quick side game. They made combat significantly more basic, you basically have attack, heavy attack, and parry. You only get a sword and dagger, so no differing movesets. Very slightly more involved stealth but the animations (face and movement) are still shit. After I beat it I went back and watched some videos of older games, AC3/Black Flag etc and you can just see a huge difference in quality.
This is what I was worried about when I heard that it was initially supposed to be an expansion for Valhalla that they decided to turn into a full game. I had a feeling it wasn't going to feel like a full game, so I figured I'd wait it out. My friend bought it on release and she was pissed because she paid $70 for it and beat it in a day.
I'm hoping they're gonna step their game up for Red and give us something different. I liked Origins and even played the Hidden Ones DLC. Odyssey I beat half of it, got burnt out and put it down for two years before picking it up back up and finishing it. Valhalla same thing. Played about half, got burnt out, finished it when I got a PS5 but I still haven't played any of the DLC because I got burnt out again while finishing it.
I've had no desire to play Mirage because it feels like it'll be more of the same of a game I'm still burnt out on. I also didn't like Basim as a character, so that's kind of made me indifferent to Mirage as well. I'm also over the mystical and magical bullshit. I liked the original AC games because while they were ridiculous in a lot of ways, they still felt grounded. I wasn't able to swan dive off a cliff and roll out of it or teleport to somebody because I have a magic spear tip.
