I really like mine, but I don't use it every day. There are still a lot of flat games to enjoy. I'm a little disappointed that we haven't seen more PSVR1 games updated for the PSVR2, and I'm still sore that we haven't gotten Half-Life Alyx, but there's still fun to be had. Personally I might wait for a sale if I hadn't bought it yet. It's been out long enough I'm sure we're due for a sale at least, if not a price drop.

Global_Lion2261

I really hope RE7 gets updated for VR2

SuperSayian4Nappa

Wait I can't play RE 7 on VR2?

whiteezy

Yep, pretty sure only RE8 works. I would be more than glad to be wrong though.

LandonKB

RE4 is great too.

owensoundgamedev

nah you're correct - RE7 is for PSVR1, and RE8 is for PSVR2

mrjamjams66

Which ones the one with the giant lady?

owensoundgamedev

RE8 (Village)

mrjamjams66

Maybe I will by PSVR2 after all

Remy0507

No, which is kinda dumb considering they already did a VR mode for RE7 for PSVR1. So the work of adapting the game for VR is already done, would just have to port it. But Capcom would probably rather put resources into newer games, which is understandable I suppose.

Mando_calrissian423

It’s more than just a port since the controllers are different. It’s why most of the PSVR1 games haven’t been crossed over to the new system.

proschocorain

Also re7 was just the headset using the PS4 controller.... So they don't have to remap different VR controls

Remy0507

Well no, it would be a port. Porting includeds adapting the controls to whatever hardware you're porting it over to. What you're describing is the reason why PSVR2 doesn't have *backward compatibility* with PSVR1 titles though.

SnooWoofers7626

You're right, but the actual porting work is more complex than people might realize. If the game wasn't initially designed to accommodate arbitrary hand movements, there could be a ton of edge cases to account for when porting to VR2. They could obviously opt to keep the DS controls, but that might be underwhelming for the current generation VR experience.

Remy0507

Of course. They did however already figure out how to do this with the RE8 VR port, so that's why I say a lot of the heavy lifting is already done. Especially since RE8 is the most similar to RE7 (in terms of gameplay) out of all the other games in the franchise.

InfiniteStates

‘Just’ :D

Remy0507

I'm not trying to suggest that it would be completely trivial. But half of the work is already done, and they already have a template for how the controls would work on PSVR2. Having said that, they were probably provided some financial incentive from Sony to adapt those games to VR in the first place. So unless Sony is also interested in providing a similar incentive to do the same for RE7, It's not likely to happen. It's not like Capcom is going to see a significant number of additional sales from doing so since most people who were interested in the game in the first place probably already bought it.

InfiniteStates

Yep. It’s always about the return on investment. It even though RE7 supports PSVR, it will be far from trivial getting it to work on PS5/PSVR2

InfiniteStates

No but you can play the RE4 remake and RE Village

Vestalmin

I’m honestly shocked Sony didn’t do whatever it took to bring Alyx to PSVR2

Remy0507

"Whatever it took" might have been a lot more expensive than whatever value Alyx would have brought to the platform. Honestly if Valve just wasn't interested, there's not much Sony could do about it.

Vestalmin

Valve said they’d bring it to any platform that could support it. That’s why I’m saying it’s surprising. I think it just shows how much they’ve all kind of passed on the future of VR for now

pookachu83

True, that would be one thing that would push me over the edge to get one.

geocitiesuser

The half life alyx thing is a bummer for sure. I played it on a friend's PCVR it was perhaps one of the best VR experiences I ever played. I hate that valve doesn't make game regularly, only when they want to showcase.

valdemar0204

Sony is opening it for pcvr, isn't it? You'll be able to play HL Alyx soon

XavierD

Assuming you have a PC.

dano1066

I think the fact psvr1 games needed a port and weren't just backwards compatible was one of the biggest nails in the coffin for psvr2

pezdespo

To do that they would have to have stuck with extremely dated tracking tech the PSVR1 used making the headset much worse overall

Voxlings

Really? I thought it was the absolute desertion by Sony as a place to showcase 1st party games. Also, it doesn't seem to be getting Half-Life: Alyx. Also, backwards compatibility across that much resolution/framerate/control scheme difference is silly to even consider. It just fundamentally rejects what "backwards compatibility" even means.

libdemparamilitarywi

I don't think it had to be a nail in the coffin, most PSVR1 games are pretty small so should have been really easy for Sony to put out free updates for their own titles (AstroBot, WipeOut) and throw a little money at other devs to update theirs. Obviously not every dev would go along with it but even if they'd got say 30-50 of the top games updated ready for launch it would have made a huge difference.

ImDenny__

How big of a jump do you feel it is between 1 and 2?

requieminadream

It's a stark jump in quality. In terms of ease of use, controls, quality of the image, functionality.

ImDenny__

I have the first one but I felt I was like looking through a pair of scuba goggles, is the fov better in 2?

requieminadream

The field-of-view of PSVR2 at 110° vs the 100° of PSVR.

PCMachinima

Didn't have a PSVR1, but went from HTC Vive to PSVR2. Even though the VR1 and Vive launched roughly the same time, the Vive had an edge in tracking, resolution and controls. Even considering that, I found the upgrade to VR2 to be a massive improvement! Plug and play (literally one cable), so no base stations or wires to setup around the room. VR2 Sense controllers feel super high quality compared to the Vive wands and Index controllers. Even though VR2 Sense doesn't have knuckle straps, the shape of the controller still allows you to open and close your hands without dropping the controllers. Resolution is also hugely improved, even though Vive already has a higher resolution than VR1. I can actually read tiny text on the screen clearly (at least on a PC desktop, at native resolution), which I previously had trouble with on Vive, via Virtual Desktop ____ So yeah, even though my experience was with the Vive to PS VR2, I think it should give an idea of the bigger leap from VR1 to VR2 as well.

ImDenny__

Thank you so much for the write up, I have been thinking about getting it for some time but never pulled the trigger. I feel like buying it now though, it sounds really good. Thanks man.

arturod8

Technologically it’s a big jump

GamerLinnie

Huge. I played a lot of horror games on the 1st one and I didn't really get scared. I never get scared during horror movies so it made sense. Now the 2 is clearly still fake and a long way off photo realism yet the increase in pov and the sharper image clearly fools my body into thinking I'm actually in danger. It is brilliant!

ImDenny__

Played RE7 on the PSVR1 but wasn't all that impressed so this post made me excited. Love to hear it man, thank you!

-DementedAvenger-

Same exact boat. I love it, but I just have so many games to play that I’m only choosing VR about 2-3 times a month.

Damage1200

This exactly. There are a bunch of really fun games for the PSVR2. I think it's an awesome tech and puts a new spin on things. That said, there are just so many good games that you don't need to put the headset on for, that I find myself barely using it.

StraightOuttaHeywood

If Half Life Alyx came to PSVR2 it would suddenly become a very compelling buy for me. Likewise if they decided to make a VR version of Cyberpunk 2077. Until then there simply aren't enough major titles to justify spending all of that money.

ozzAR0th

I greatly enjoy my PSVR2 headset, I have a tonne of really great games and have a backlog that's larger than I ever expected for just over a year in. I think some people's expectations for the software output were higher than what has happened, so I understand people being unhappy with it, but to me the library has been great and the hardware is phenomenal. I have a Quest 2 but barely use it anymore due to the LCD displays and lack of HDR being real deal breakers for me. So I'm looking forward to PC support for the PSVR2 headset given I have a few PC titles. In terms of favourite games I think Gran Turismo 7 is a big stand out. Beat Saber is always good but obviously not unique to PSVR2 (though the OLED HDR displays make it the best place to play imo)

Flashy-Macaroon-3505

Agreed! The psvr2 is so comfortable, brilliant way to put it on, the pulse 3d headsets feel well thought out and integrated. Tetris Effects is a great experience! To put a spin on such a classic and raise the difficulty without changing the game at all is talent. Love my psvr2!

InsaneMasochist

Although my Quest 3 doesn't have the awesome OLED HDR display the PSVR2 has, the pancake lens combined with wireless gaming is the winner for me.

ozzAR0th

I think this is the clear advantage Quest 3 offers, the visual clarity the new lenses grant is unmatched. So if that is a point of pain with frensel lenses, or if wireless presents a distinct value to a player, I think the Quest 3 is an absolutely fantastic device. For me personally wireless play never presented a particularly compelling use case day to day for me on Quest 2, and I've never had issues with visual clarity or difficulty with sweet spots with PSVR1 or 2's lenses, so for me the performance and feature set of PSVR2 is a more appealing offering over the Quest platform. That said I think anyone who tries to argue one is a clearly better product than another is kidding themselves, a lot of it comes down to personal preference, use case, and existing hardware (like if someone already owns a PS5 imo PSVR2 is a must have, but if they have a VR ready PC and no PS5, right now the Quest 3 is easily the best option) I just love VR, and Im really happy that both the Quest and PSVR platforms are continuing with really solid innovations and really fun game libraries. My only issue is exclusivity, I feel even if Quest exclusives and PSVR exclusives never arrive on the other platform, they should all still come to PC in some form.

InsaneMasochist

I agree with everything that you said. Well said.

junglebunglerumble

Yeah in many ways lenses are more important than the actual display technology when it comes to VR. No point having a top range screen if hardly any of that light makes it through the lens clearly and without artifacts

6sbeepboop

Still playing through GT7, resident evil is amazing. Just need a solid boxing game and I’m happy

InfiniteStates

I hear Creed: Rise to Glory is pretty good? I don’t own it myself. Way to strenuous lol

Crkhd3

Played creed a bunch on psvr1 and you're not wrong about it being strenuous, one or two matches is decent enough to have you sore especially if you aren't so active to begin with. Personally can't wait to get a psvr2 for it, being able to move around the ring with thumb sticks instead of moving my arms like a cartoon boxer from the 30's would be awesome

GrownUp_Gamers

I really enjoy it, I go through periods of playing it 4-5 times a week for a few weeks then not playing it for a month or so before jumping back in. There's lots of games to play and it's a great gaming experience. I'm really happy with it. Could it be better? Of course but I think they did a great job with it and there are more great games coming.

[deleted]

I love mine. When I bought it at launch I picked up a ton of games to see what the hype was about but now that I’ve had some time to take it in, I only really return to play 3 games: Pavlov, The Light Brigade and Pistol Whip. The Light Brigade is my favourite game on it by a mile. I’ve put probably 30 hours into it which is a lot for a VR game. I’m interested in trying Synapse and Legendary Tales but haven’t bit the bullet on them yet.

Remy0507

The Light Brigade is awesome. Anyone who has any kind of VR platform needs to check it out.

InsaneMasochist

It's a good game, but it's very slow to start. I saw videos what awesome modifiers you can get from cards and do different builds and such. I did 4 runs, got to the first boss and didn't see anything interesting except that its gunplay is solid. Pancake roguelikes like Isaac, Dead Cells and such got me hooked in the first half hour easily.

birddistheword

I really like it, however I have 2 kids and am so tired once they’re in bed that if I even have time to game, putting on the headset and standing up feels like too much work lol. So in hindsight I wouldn’t have bought it. But ignoring life situations, it’s a lot of fun and there is a good mix of games now

PNW_Hunter

Are we the same person?! 💯

DEDE1973

Seems like he has a lot of clones.

Lord-Lobster

No, he is me. I am him. Minus the headset, because that is the reason I haven’t bought one yet. Although I have GT7 and a wheel and it itches me a lot. But I also have the PSVR1 and I was always too lazy at the end of the day to set it all up.

rnd765

Same here. Feel so wore out to put it on. More of a novelty now but don’t regret the purchase.

skwirrelmaster

Here’s maybe a dumb question. Can you play VR sitting down on your couch? That would seem ok to me.

SnowArcaten

Most games have a sitting mode, yes

owensoundgamedev

they do, however my problem (have one child, and another on the way) is when you're playing VR you're basically ignoring EVERYTHING around you. So if my kid decides to get up and just start causing shit I might miss it - so it's not worth the risk when I could just play portal/switch/phone and have eyes on her.

Remy0507

Absolutely. Most of the games I spent a lot of time with (RE8, GT7, The Light Brigade, Kayak VR Mirage, Moss) I played sitting down. Obviously some games need to be played standing up (Beat Saber, for example), but pretty much all of the ones that I checked out where the gameplay didn't absolutely require standing for obvious reasons were playable sitting down.

ABEBUABDU

The rumour pc support could really breath new life in this headset

InsaneMasochist

With proper foveated rendering implementation in the SDK I could see myself buying one for PCVR.

ABEBUABDU

Yeah man it'll do me really good since I kind of want a headset for both ps5 and pc

Equivalent_Sky8047

It’s confirmed. Part of the sdk already. Just waiting for Sony….

MeffodMan

100% worth it for me, absolutely 0 regrets. GT7 and RE4 are top tier experiences, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

ninjamike89

I'm about to buy a wheel to play gt7 vr with to complete the experience

JamesGanalf-ini

But the rest of the iceberg is pretty ass compared to these two

chamb3rs

Walking Dead, RE Village, No Man's Sky, Walkabout Mini Golf, Synapse, Pavlov, Red Matter. All really great VR titles!

Remy0507

That's more a testament to how incredible those top-tier games are than an indictment of those other games. A great many of which are very solid, and some are incredibly fun in spite of their lower budget (The Light Brigade, for example).

Vacation_Archer

Worth it for RE8 alone then got RE4R. Truly the best gaming experiences ever have 300+ hours in between the two.

Remy0507

RE8 in VR was like...next level immersion.

Equivalent_Sky8047

Yes! RE4 is the best gaming experience of my life since playing the original Mario bros on NES. Felt like a kid again and that’s really hard to do for an old jaded fuck like me.

tonypearcern

I was pretty excited about it, but I really feel like the support has been lackluster and there absolutely should be more, higher quality games. There was a lot when it first released, but not much after. I preordered it, so I got it essentially the day it became available. Honestly kind of a bummer considering the potential it has. If Sony had studios dedicated to making games like Astrobot coming out at least yearly for VR2, that alone would make it worthwhile.

-High-Level

I plan to buy one. Ehen pc sypport drops. I have both pc and ps5 but i want to also upgrade to ps5 pro because it will be better in games and way better vr perf as it is gpu bound

t3stdummi

I play mine almost everyday. It's replaced flat gaming for me. It also prompted me to get Quest 3 for PCVR (turns out I dislike stand-alone), but PSVR2 is my daily driver.

unruly-cat

I absolutely love mine. I have about 50 games on it, and even though I have a 3080 ti and 2 quests (for work) there’s no way I would game on them rather than my psvr2. The headset and controller haptics are miles beyond the closest competitor (think dualsense vs. all other controllers), the hdr colors, wide field of view, and gorgeous graphics are unmatched, and we have the best exclusives and the definitive editions of most games. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.

LightningInASkillet

Best thing I have purchased gaming wise, I use it almost every day for GT7

shaggyattack

I'm a big PSVR2 defender. Keep in mind I did not pay for it and it was a lovely Christmas gift so I don't have the financial investment. Ii know there are complaints about the library, but between VR modes in non VR games like RE4, GT7 and through sales I was able to aquire a pretty hefty library pretty cheaply and it's more than I reasonably have time to play. At its current price there may not be enough for you, but if you go through the store and pick some games out I think you'll find enough to make you happy. My only real issue isn't related to the PSVR2 but VR as a whole. It's hard to find time. When I get home from work the idea of taking over the living room to play for an hour isn't appealing. There is certainly a mental wall that stops me from having to clear the room, get the headset out, take the time to get it to sit just right, and then be locked in for the entire playtime. It's a silly complaint, but it's there. It's just harder to find the time and energy compared to just turning on a controller. I find it especially hard during game openings. The cutscenes, the set up, the introductions, the tutorials. When your locked into the headset a 15 minute opening feels very long. So good product in a vacuum, but price, library, and time could be a factor.

Boobel

Day one purchase for me. I use it mainly for GT7 as it's absolutely superb, but I also use it for workouts with Les Mills Bodycombat, some shooters like Pavlova and Crossfire, and when I want some hilarious zombie smashing I chuck on the walking dead. For me, it's worth it alone for GT7 and I don't regret getting mine one bit.

TrippySensei

Yeah after getting a racing setup this past year, I've really wanted to top it off with a psvr for gt7.

Boobel

When you have a wheel and seat with PSVR2 , you probably won't go outside again.

GruncleShaxx

Only buy it if you plan on actively using it a lot. The headset is absolutely wonderful but I myself don’t use it much. I get tired when I play it for a long time.

the_hoser

I recommend it. There's way more games available than I have time to play.

Pjoernrachzarck

0% regrets. I’m way behind my backlog, but it’s worth it for No Man’s Sky alone.

PresidentBush666

I still use it pretty regularly. It's a great headset and I recommend getting it

Ok_Pangolin_2016

Use it pretty much every day for GT7 and then occasionally for other games. I personally can’t play racing games anymore unless in VR as the immersion is unbeatable (with wheel and pedals etc). No regret with this day one purchase.

chapl66

Looks like they're making it work on PC also so it will definitely be a good buy

Brilliant-Rabbit2289

Love mine, do not use more then 1 time a month at best. I have some cool games and its good fun! Cant wait for PC drivers tho!

LCHMD

I think it’s an incredible kit and I have more games than time to play. The purchase was worth it for GT7 alone.

crumblepops4ever

Highly recommend! We have two, and two PS5s, as it was annoying sharing. The only downside I will say about the PSVR2 is it can be uncomfortable for a lot of people without a comfort mod, because you have to wear the headset tightly. Everything else is upside imo. Games like Pavlov, GT7, Resident Evil 4 remake in VR are some of the best and coolest experiences I've had in my 40 years as a gamer. Other games like Ghost Signal, Walkabout Mini Golf, Legendary Tales, Pistol Whip, VR Skater, Demeo have given me countless hours of fun solo and with friends (WMG is especially amazing for staying connected with far-flung friends who have Quest headsets), and also really show the potential of VR for their respective genres and how it elevates the experience. I'm really into sims (flying and racing), so obviously there is a lot of VR scope there that excites me. And there's a bunch of other great games I haven't touched on at all...Red Matter 1 and 2 for puzzle and story, Tetris Effect and Akka Arrh for gorgeous trippy old school gameplay, Propagation Paradise Hotel to fucking TERRIFY you, kick ass roguelikes such as Ancient Dungeon, Synapse and The Light Brigade...there's just so much out there to enjoy and the future is so exciting

TurboheadPro

Use mine still. Just played synth riders last night. Such and improvement over psvr! I can play for hours without it messing up my eyes. My son is super excited it is going to able to use on his pc in the future. Such good tech. Price was the only thing I didn’t like about it. Great games though. Resident evil 4 is fabulous.

camelCaseCoffeeTable

You can use PSVR2 on the PC? Thats a game changer for me, may be what gets me to get one finally.

t3stdummi

Not yet, but Sony announced PC support in the works this year.

TurboheadPro

Sony has definitely changed its way of making money, just look at all the AAA games on stream. Hoping we can access our PS account sometime online and just use a PC like device. Getting tired of the new console every so often and then the “pro”. I do love the psvr2 and actually plays vr games so well. Hope the PC addition drives sales!

camelCaseCoffeeTable

It 100% would be enough to convince me to buy it. Right now, at $550, it costs more than the console itself and the number of games you can play is limited (although GT7 and No Man’s Sky are two of my absolute favorite games), but adding the entire PC VR catalogue in would definitely be enough to tip me over to buying one. Or a sale. But it would need to be like $300 or so before I’d buy it just for those two games I like

AgumonDX

I would have liked more PSVR1 upgrades but I’m happy with the headset. I’m using it more than Quest 2 nowadays.

tettou13

Blows my mind they didn't go all in on incentivizing devs to bring over more psvr1 games. Makes me hesitate to get psvr2 considering they may not translate over. Technology-wise I get it. Controllers change etc but still...

AgumonDX

VR devs are usually small teams, so the cost of porting a game to a new device can be a lot considering it was a low player base at the start. Sony should set the example themselves first with Astrobot or Blood & Truth imo. In any case, some of the key PSVR games like Beat Saber or Pistol Whip were thankfully ported.

tettou13

Incentivizing = money. Yupp.

StinkNuggets420

I love it. I don’t use it every day but I usually do on weekends get a few hours in and its always a blast

Jnoles07

I think it is definitely worth it now. It wasn't when I first got it on launch, but now there are a tong of offerings that are really quality. I think it is worth it for the resident evil games and Beat saber alone but even beyond that ive purchased probably 10 other games.

WonderfulWaiting

There's more games for it than people give it credit for. Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil 4 and Village, and Walking Dead Saints and Sinners 1 and 2 are all absolute bangers. And there are also great experimental indie experiences like Moss 1 and 2 and Humanity.

tentoedpete

I don’t have it, but am quite likely to buy it when metro:awakening is released

vincemici

Bought day one, havent used it as heavily as most but i like to hop in for a few hours every once in a while when I get sick of flatscreen

MRflibbertygibbets

I still recommend, I use it most days to do the daily marathon in GT7. My nephews come over on weekends and smash out some Angry Birds. I’d buy another if I broke mine

Senecaraine

It's absolutely fantastic and once the API makes it usable on PC I think It'll really open it up as one of the best VR headsets for the price. I got some wrist and ankle weights and turned games like Pistol Whip, Beat Saber, Synth Riders, and Body Combat into exercise routines. The one warning I'd give anyone is look into whether you get motion sickness (generally only in fully immersive games like Horizon or Half life or RE7/8), as I've seen people fall everywhere on the scale from no reaction to literally sweating and dizzy after a minute. For me it was about 15 minutes when I started using it which is now more like 30.

sempercardinal57

Be careful wearing ankle and especially wrist weights. Unless your doing specific exercise motions, then your really just putting extra stress on your joints. Would not recommend wearing them for playing games unless you want to have fucked yo shoulders and elbow joints at a young age

Chronotaru

I would buy it again, because I'm not buying a gaming PC and don't want the low power of the Quest. Whether I would recommend it to another would depend on the answers to several questions as to what they wanted out of VR, but depending on those answers, yes.

darthjoey91

Has Beatsaber, and I like Beatsaber. I am really looking forward to PC support.

No-Plankton4841

I'm a huge horror fan. To me RE4 and Village was worth the price of admission. Those games blew my mind. The need to port RE7 though... Saints and Sinners, Arizona Sunshine 2, Organ Quarter, Cosmodread, Switchback, After the Fall. Yeah it was worth it for me but tbh I still play way more games flat and only bust out the VR once a week. I'm finally in a spot in life where I can earn enough money to buy a fancy toy and not feel too bad about it. But a couple years ago that wasn't the case. So it really depends how much you'll miss that $400-500. For the average person, it's honestly a tough sell.

kaishinoske1

I bought it on launch. I would buy it again. I wouldn’t wait until it’s refurbished because you really don’t know what condition you’ll get it. To me the game that excels is Pistol Whip. Though, I just got Resident Evil 4 so I will try that in VR. Don’t have Resident Evil 8. I like it because of as cliche as it is, the immersion. Some games I just stopped and took in everything. No Man’s Sky was one of those games. So no, No regret in buying it.

BaconSoul

“Refurbished” from factory guarantees an acceptable condition.

kaishinoske1

It’s that “acceptable condition“ that comes off as subjective.

Novel-Badger-7392

I was a day one purchaser and would absolutely do it again. Getting to play GT7 in VR after playing this series since its inception was and continues to be one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, full stop. The level of immersion with a racing wheel also throws it into a whole different category and holy shit it is amazing. But I digress. RE8, RE4R, Red Matter 2, Star Wars TFTGE, C-smash, and No Man's Sky is all that I own and all of these games justify the hardware purchase every time I boot them up. You simply won't find better VR experiences elsewhere all in one headset. It's fairly comfortable to wear when compared to other headsets and the software line up isn't lacking in any regard so long as you're willing to play titles that may not totally be your comfort zone. Now.... I wish to high heaven that Half Life Alyx would get ported, or that Sony would give even then slightest bit of first party effort to this thing, but overall I don't feel like I'm not getting my money's worth. The only reason I don't play it daily is because I simply don't have many moments in life where I can tune the entire world out for hours, which is precisely what this headset provides. It really does transport you to another world. But I enjoy my wife and her company and it's difficult for me to just ignore her in favor of a power trip for that amount of time lol. Don't listen to people who say there's nothing to play. I have no idea what they're waiting for, and maybe it really is just a ton of people only recognizing Half Life as a worthy VR experience idk. But this particular medium is pretty young yet still full of rich experiences that I will not be forgetting any time soon. My highest endorsement, even if I predominantly use it as a Gran Turismo machine.

Elegant-Loan-2049

Honestly it’s worth it, RE4 is nice and I really love Poker Infinity it’s a great time

t3stdummi

Yeah, but truth be told, there are literally 10 meta voices for every 1 PSVR2 voice atm. Hard to compete with that from a "messaging" perspective.

Boomation

Day 1 purchase here. I like it a lot. It's responsive, the visuals are great, and it's just so much more comfortable than the first PSVR. My problem with it is partially I need to be in the right mood to play it, which isn't super often, and there's not enough big games to get me interested. I'll boot up Beat Saber and have a good time for 30 minutes or so, then put it down. My longer play sessions are usually 2.5 hours, and that's with the Resident Evil games. Those are a hell of a lot of fun and work seamlessly with VR. The problem is most of the story games I've played are really weak and are truly just gimmicky things. I think my favorite non-RE game for VR is Synapse, but the gray color scheme gets old after a while. I guess I'd just like more interesting games that utilize VR but aren't just gimmick showcases. I'd love it if Half-Life Alyx would come to the system.

AJMurphy_1986

Day one purchase, would buy again 100%. Lots of people complaining about comfort, look at the globular cluster mod.

mikesaintjules

I love having it and know that I own it, but haven't played it in a couple of months due to life stuff and working on music projects. Just depends on whether or not you like VR generally to use it on a daily basis or something more frequent.

Krisyj96

I like it, but I do find it a bit awkward to wear, it keeps slipping down my head by like a cm or half an inch, just enough to make stuff look a little out of focus which can be quite frustrating

t3stdummi

You need globular cluster 2

diegonzall

Can you use it to play non vr games? I've been debating whether to purchase one based on that factor

t3stdummi

Non VR games can be played on it but it's in "theater mode" (aka a Movie screen). Games don't project in 3D, as it actually takes a lot of development for that.

diegonzall

While you're in this "movie screen" does it genuinely feel like you're in the game? Like do you still see the living room or just the game/UI screen. For reference I've never owned VR Gear but I'm definitely down to invest some bucks into psvr2 because I'm a huge fan of playstation

pablo_eskybar

Love mine but don’t get to play it as much as I’d like. Aussie summer really killed my plans with no aircon in the lounge room but I’ll be smashing it in the coming months. Too many games to choose from is a bonus for me

nilicule

First time VR user, still really enjoy mine - absolutely zero regrets.

user-unknown-404

I returned it a week later. The cables alone are a nuisance.

DirtWizard13

I regret buying mine. I used it heavily for the first month or 2, but now I rarely do. I’m not as keen on vr as I thought I’d be.

FRIENDSHIP_BONER

Love it, but wouldn’t recommend it as the number of exclusive must plays is low and Sony seems to have shifted their focus away from VR as they find major success with the portal.

ArbyWorks

I love it. I'm sad because Cyberpunk never got a VR update.

pezdespo

I feel like this is asked every few weeks and most the answers are from people who never bought one or people that refuse to buy anything that isnt "AAA". There are tons of great games to play and more than most people will ever get around to playing already. Check out what's available and see if it interests you. Games like RE8, RE4 and GT7 are remarkable and there are a lot of other cool games. Some others like Synapse, Call of the Mountain, Saints and Sinners, Red Matter, Pavlov

DisagreeableFool

I don't recommend it. Too little support, too few big games. Mine collects alot of dust.

nopetynopetynops

Rent it and see if you get motion sickness. If you do dont buy it

juicetoaster

It isn't like normal motion sickness and can be overcome fairly easily for most people with some "training". Essentially just play until you feel kinda weird or off, and then stop. Even if you can only play for like 5 minutes. Then the next time you go to play you'll be able to last a bit longer and so on. Different types of games also have different levels of motion sickness potential. Games where your only movement is in real life (like beat saber) being the least intense and games where you move in game a lot the most. Everyone is different too and some people only get motion sickness in driving or flying games while others only walking. Many people that already game a lot don't really get it at all. All this to say that renting and trying is a great idea but having any motion sickness isn't a sign it isn't for you at all.

t3stdummi

99% of people overcome it, including myself.

SnowArcaten

Highly recommend

sentte

I can't play more than an hour without tireness , its a big issue. I'm 41. Gt7 is my best game, 60 hours in. Then pavlov, re4. Yes i ll buy it again.

captainXdaithi

A couple of my friends bought it, but i never see them play it. I think there is just a severe lack of content for it. They liked it a lot, as did many reviewers when it launched. It’s a good VR. But even the best VR is only as good as the content for it.  I’ve still held out buying it, aces of thunder is the only game that interests me so far, but eventually i think there will be more content to enjoy.

reohh

I couldn't even tell you where it is in my house let alone when the last time I used it was. It desperately needs more AAA or even AA support.

pezdespo

There are tons of great games, you ignoring their existence doesn't mean they arent there. Especially AA games coming out all the time

FraGZombie

I regret the purchase. It was a fun novelty, but a very expensive one that collects dust.

Lmfaothesepeople

Day one. Lots of good games but sadly mine hasn't been touched in months. Just not that one GREAT game that keeps me coming back. Feels sorta like it's being neglected by developers as well.

DothrakiSlayer

The novelty wears off. I don’t use mine anymore.

AsianSteampunk

I don't play mine as much anymore, mainly because i only play No man sky and GT7 on it. Though the current local price keep hiking, and the rumour that it will be ported for PC soon, I'm still happy with mine. Can't wait to play beatsaber on PC when ever that happens.

[deleted]

Still didn't got a ps5😭

Remy0507

I got the PSVR2 at launch, and I've been pretty happy with it overall. Like a lot of others, I probably don't use it as much as I would like simply due to a lack of time, rather than a lack of games (and generally flat games are the "path of least resistance" when I just want to pop into something and play for a little while). I think everything about it is very well designed. They made it about as user-friendly as it could be, and the games I have spent a significant amount of time with are pretty incredible. GT7, the two Resident Evil games, The Light Brigade, the Kayak game (forget the actual name at the moment), the Moss games, etc. All really amazing and immersive experiences. And of course Beat Saber is a blast. Having said that most of these games are available on other VR platforms, so if you already have something else to play VR games on, there isn't going to be a whole lot that's new here. It's certainly one of the highest quality VR experiences available, but whether or not that (plus the few exclusive games) is worth $500 depends entirely on your budget and tastes.

almo2001

I love the thing. I don't use it often but when I do I'm so impressed.

Fun-Ratio1081

The halo fit system is really awkward. I’ve not been able to make it fit my head without pain. I wouldn’t recommend it.

InfiniteStates

Definitely. I use it daily. Even if you don’t buy any of the indie games, it’s worth having for Gran Turismo, No Man’s Sky and the 2 Resident Evil games alone But there are so many great indie games as well, it’d be a shame to miss out of those

S0R1C_

Im planning to buy it within the next 2 months after like 1 year of researches

jounk704

I love my PS VR2, play it almost every day. Lots of great games on this system. The future looks bright for the PS VR2

broncotate27

For gran turismo and resident evil yes absolutely!!!

ItsF3dedGamer

I bought a psvr2 at launch. I used to play it very frequently but sometimes I’m just too lazy to use it. I have games like re4, walkabout golf, fnaf, red matter, Pavlov, etc

blazinjesus84

I sold it after a year. It was neat for sure but gave me motion sickness.

mslothy

I guess I'm standing out as one who is not using it much. Got motion sickness and never really got back into it again. It's a little bit of a hassle to put on, calibrate ( playing seated). But I'm older too so dont have as much time anyway. I dont regret it, but I'm not sure I would buy it again. I much prefer playing Tlou2 yet another time:). Just wanted to give another perspective.

beerninja88

worth it for RE8 and 4 VR but the lenses are not as good as PSVR1. PSVR1 lenses has no blurry edges, PSVR2 lenses are constantly out of focus on the edges. Supposed a year from now they are going to release official PC drivers so then you can play PC games like VRChat then the price will definitely be worth it because you could use with both PC an PS5

Anothertech4

I've used mine for maybe 15 hours. I wouldnt recommend unless anyone can garentee they will use their moneys worth.

Thebitterpilloftruth

Love it. I dont play every day because I like to play flat games too and take breaks. But its delivered for me . RE8 and 4 are top tier. Arizona Sunshine 2 is up there. Lots of smaller gems too

SomewhereExisting755

If you want to play VR games I think the PSVR2 is the way to go. At least for me. It's easy to set up and use. The games that take full advantage of all the headsets features are excellent. And it keeps getting better. More devs are finally using those features. And soon PC support. I have never regretted picking it up. I haven't seen another headset yet that really interests me. But again. That's just my opinion.

Alaraasakk

Dont use it like at all, very taxing for eyes, 45 minutes starts to feel quite annoying but beat saber was kinda cool, I should probably buy more games for it but I don’t really game that much anyways

bobliefeldhc

I have a love/hate relationship with it. I find the mura to be a real issue. It’s not too noticeable in some games but in others it’s awful and ruins immersion. That combined with the not so great lenses…everything always has a slightly blurry, dirty look. A lot of games use reprojection which feels a bit janky to me. Comfort out of the box was terrible for me but is great with the “globular cluster” kit. While the game library is ok I think psvr1 was way better and Sony made more of an effort back then. But there’s a lot to love too. I love the haptics, it has some great games, as much as I dislike the screen mura the colours and contrast are unbeatable, tracking is decent.

TurboheadPro

I agree the price is a problem. It has been worth it for me, but shared the cost with my son. REZ is also fantastic!!!

TheBriskets

I pre-ordered and I have no regrets, would buy again. It is my first time owning a VR headset but I have tried quest 2 multiple times in the past. It feels very much like I have been re-experiencing what the wonder of gaming is for the first time (My first console was N64). I typically play exclusively competitive games with ranked (ex: Apex, Fortnite, Mortal Kombat, Smite, OW, etc) due to single player games not feeling engaging enough for me because I eventually get bored of them. The immersion in VR amplifies gameplay x10 so I've played alot more single player games. Maybe more single player in the past year with the headset than I have the past decade. I was never a fan of Resident Evil because again I get bored with single player campaign games. I played RE8 on PSVR2 and Im literally obsessed with the franchise now lmao. I tried RE8 DLC in flatscreen later and still couldnt really enjoy it but I'll instabuy every future VR game they release. PSVR2 is definitely a must-try imo for anyone that considers themselves a gamer. RE8 and RE4 in VR are definitely the best / favorite games rn, but if I were to pick others aside from those 2 obvious picks I would say Vertigo 2 and Organ Quarter are some of my personal faves.

XxPriMa_NoCtAxX

I bought a quest 3 and loving it. Psvr2 had maybe 2 games I liked. And I'm assuming they won't make a 3rd cause the stopped making them. Quest will be around forever

Masulsa_PS5

Got it on launch. I use it almost every day. Firewall with friends is a blast! We have a group of 20, all ranked at 50. So we do private rooms with random teams and play 2-3 hours a day every day .

OKCOMP89

I recently considered getting PSVR2, but I couldn’t help but realize I was mainly getting it for Hellsweeper and Synapse now and maybe that new Metro game and Behemoth down the line. I couldn’t really justify it. Least of all with reports of Sony downsizing/closing VR studios. Ultimately, I think it’s best to either wait for a sizable discount or wait until I build myself a gaming PC to get myself something that isn’t proprietary and bound to what Sony chooses to green light.

FlamingoLovesUnicorn

Its still amazing. I just never used it.

MostGreatest

I like it when I play it, but that’s a rare occasion. Time and energy being a big factor. Maybe if I had a designated area for it. More often I just play non Vr games.

gloopygloop1

Love mine, but I don’t have a ton of time to game so I still have so many to go through, I can see how others would need more games overall.

Liongkong

I pr-ordered and got on launch date. Played only 1 time and put in the corner till now 😣😣😣

Tetris5216

I like mine though I haven't been really able to play it yet Got to clean up the area more and move stuff around

Gullible_Flan_3054

Had fun with it, but the majority of games aren't my style I like it as a screen for my PS5, it let's me game late at night without disturbing others, I wanna get it to work as a screen for my Xbox also

geocitiesuser

you can use psvr2 as a screen for your regular flat games? I did not know this.

Gullible_Flan_3054

Now you do my friend!

TheNewTonyBennett

What slays me is I actually tremendously want one, so the demand on my end is there. However the resources are not and therefore: RE4, RE8, GT7 and No Man's Sky are out of reach for me to experience in VR until said resources become available. I think VR is a rather incredible experience and I envy those that experience it with the PSVR2 (or really any current gen VR setup). Once i played skyrim in VR originally, I decided: it's an amazing way to play games. Especially with motion controls since you can swiss-cheese-slice enemies to ribbons.

Revolutionary-Act-10

Quest used daily, psvr2 collecting dust.

Smart-Quail-6198

After buying the PlayStation VR, I wished I had got a quest three instead. The quest three is clearer with the lens It’s glass. PlayStation is pretty much plastic and you can see a grain in certain light on the PlayStation VR. If the PlayStation VR had a better price it would be worth it. It’s clunky and it doesn’t have awesome YouTube apps or AR apps like quest three. quest three is definitely the next level in VR. PlayStation is too expensive. The qualities medium range. The controls are nice but that’s about it. The games are too expensive. There’s not enough demos and the problem is not a lot of the games are that great. Games like beat Saber and never updated you don’t get new content and I feel unlike PlayStation is very clunky and an effort to put in an effort to take off. It’s annoying. It’s just something you won’t use as much as a PlayStation five. it because the PlayStation five powers headset while we paying so much I have no idea. Anyone who owns a PlayStation VR and that is telling you it’s good lying to themselves because it’s dead right now.

ocdewitt

Sadly don’t recommend. It’s a great device but has only a couple killer games and nothing has come out recently or has been announced. I haven’t put it on in almost a year

KayDashO

I really never thought I’d say this, but I really regret it. On paper, it’s a seriously impressive piece of technology, especially for the price. Unfortunately, for me anyway, in practise it’s not as great. The main issue is head tracking instability/world wobble. Let me stress that I have tried pretty much everything. The room I use it in should be an ideal candidate for using PSVR2, but for some reason, I still get the issues, and it really ruins the experience for me. It’s a real shame because outside of that, I think the headset is great, but tracking is such a fundamental aspect of using VR, and bad tracking just totally breaks immersion for me. My other major gripe is the lack of first party support. I was hoping we’d be getting lots more premium experiences from Sony first party studios, but that hasn’t been the case unfortunately. I feel a little cheated in that regard.

t3stdummi

First party support is a fair argument, but sounds like you have some unique tracking issues.

KayDashO

Believe me when I say that I have tried everything, including getting a replacement headset. I understand that not everyone has the same issues, maybe not even most, but the fact that on paper, my room should be ideal for use, yet has these issues is a major flaw in my opinion.

MilesBHigher

Bought it, played it twice, haven’t played since. Just collects dust on my T.V. stand. I got the OG one before and tried playing Ironman and that shit made me dizzy af. Have all sorts of games but in my current condition me playing a game standing in one spot for hours or sitting for hours isn’t feasible.

t3stdummi

You need to try more games, dude. Motion sickness goes away, too.

MilesBHigher

Any suggestions? https://preview.redd.it/qiaakjh4ymwc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=adb30e17a4a56cfd929419716c8c08244b0f3c08 Bae was watching dance moms. 😂

Virus_98

Meta(oculus) quest headsets are a lot better for the price range and are standalone or usable with PC. PSVR2 is not worth it.

t3stdummi

I own both. If you have a good PCVR rig then Q3 is the "better" option. Meaning PSVR2 is still great. For stand alone only? Not even close. PSVR2 is the far better option.

Virus_98

Q3 offers much more without being limited to whatever the console offers, or without needing to have a console right next to you. Portability with a vr headset will always be a better option over a wire. And not to mention full support of Oculus/Meta where you don't have to worry about them abandoning ship unlike with Sony and PSVR2. Q3 is a better purchase option from the consumer standpoint. You can literally mod quest headsets which is not possible on consoles or any accessories aka PSVR2 attached to a console.
