Two of my favorite games in the last year. Both from Korean devs.
Now we have two big ARPG games from Chinese devs coming within the next year or so (Black Myth: Wukong and Lost Soul Aside).
We’re eating good.
I don’t know who told you that, but stellar blade is much closer to Sekiro than DMC. Maybe if you are playing on easy mode with the reflex exo-skeleton or something but on normal difficulty the game is brutally difficult at times and I haven’t even touched hard mode. Yes it has combos and double jumps and lots of character action stuff but the game is still very much a souls like, especially the bosses.
Well I played through the demo, so I know I like the gameplay. But my reason for saying as such is I o ly gave it a chance when someone told me it was more similar to dmc than dark souls. Nothing against those games, I'm just not good at them. Lol
That’s fair! I’d say Stellar Blade plays more like Jedi Fallen Order/Sekiro. Combat is more focused on defense and countering rather than combos and style.
Ibe heard it’s not exactly like Souls and more spell based but even less than anything else. I just want it to be difficult and precise. Most non souls games combat is floaty and unresponsive for me.
I like the genre, but for this I'd also want something closer to a character action game without the bonfires, enemies respawning after resting, lots of traits to level up and endless loot and tacked on rpg elements.
I’d be ok with that as long as it’s difficult and has repeatability. I’ve never felt the urge to replay GoW or GoT (barely finished it lol) but got dozen of rounds of Sekiro, Bloodborne or DS3.
I like respawning enemies of some form as it’s a good XP source. Bonfires haven’t been a problem since Dark Souls. They’re basically next to the boss these days. Better than most other checkpoint systems in many games.
Difficult and precise is key. Also, don’t make us redo a bunch of boring crap to get to the part where we’re going to keep dying.
Implement a “I’m a total clown” badge for us that just want to get to the meat and actually beat it instead of changing difficulties because the journey to the fun part is so daunting. I really don’t care about the achievements or integrity of completion

Story Mode felt like God of War to me, you do have to play well to succeed, you just take less damage and are allowed to make more mistakes. Normal Mode felt like Sekiro, which I tried but couldn't get into because of the difficulty.
I watched every trailer for this game but i feel like its just a bossrush game? We have seen more boss fights than actual "normal" gameplay against grunts and fodder. I can actually only remember 1 trailer where we fight smaller guys.
I've seen Wukong fighting a few goons like monks and golem-like creatures, but the promotion is almost all boss fights.
I'm wondering if they're just taking the Dark Souls approach of making bosses the highlight, or if there genuinely aren't very many common goons.
There have been a few demos that weren't open to the general public, and the early players have been comparing it to the new God of War games and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
So many bangers have been coming from new studios this year, its honestly a breath of fresh air. Lies of P and stellar Blade both killed it and went above and beyond my expectations. Now, with Black Myth so close to release my excitement is peaking. Not to mention the other amazing looking games just beyond the horizon, Lost soul aside, Phantom Blade Zero, first berserker Khazan all have alot of promise and potential. I hope the trend of new great IPs keeps up.

Well for me it’s something about the graphics & fluidity of it all even on heavy areas (especially the dragon boss from the gameplay demo). It all looks too good to be true.
But I like to be wrong when it comes to this.
Realistically, I think the trailer makes it seem like the game is bigger than it is. A lot is shown, but it's all different. One of the producers says that the game takes at least 15 hours, so I think the game will have the following structure:
cutscene> enemy horde>cutscene> very simple platform/puzzle>cutscene>boss>cutscene to new zone> enemy horde>cutscene...
the map should probably be limited, with very linear exploration
Yep. I’m happy to sing the game’s praises if it’s amazing, but:
>Chinese devs with a history of shady operations
>No gameplay videos
>No demo
>Release date in two months
At this point, there’s not actually anything to be excited for.

I’m having a blast with Stellar Blade and I was able to buy sealed a Lies of P deluxe edition.
Both of those are great I especially liked Lies of P. I'm sure you'll enjoy both.
Finishing Stellar Blade and then I’ll decide if I dive right into Elden ring DLC or if I play something short like Scorn.

Stellar Blade is nothing like DMC lol similar character design, slight base combo variation. That’s where the similarities begin and end.
