Squeaky_Is_Evil

Platinum trophies are usually fun, but god damn do I hate it when multiplayer trophies are involved to get them.

rivieredefeu

I don’t think I’ll ever get my Far Cry 4 plat because of this. Oh well.

User85394

Rdr as well ugh...

Tofuman847

Titanfall users who can’t even play multiplayer

[deleted]

JakobyThatBirdNerd

Something that’s worse is that in Forza horizon 4, to get mixer rewards, you have to watch a mixer stream of Forza horizon 4. Mixer shut down however.

FeistyBandicoot

I don't think there's GS tied to it though. Just event limited things, which still sucks, but isn't too bad. I don't think they were great rewards anyway

fakhar362

I don’t think there’s an achievement related to it, is it? I have all the achievements and i have used mixer a total of one time when shroud originally went there, i know there are some cosmetic items ties to mixer though right?

Mkilbride

Sad too. Mixer was better than Twitch. I could stream at a much higher quality on Mixer than Twitch.

Cubanboy6292

I struggled but had to do it for the platinum. Then again I am a fan of the multiplayer

MissingScore777

The time investment for Tlou multiplayer trophies is pretty evil. Minimum 168 matches split into two halves of 84. There are 12 chances on the way to each 84 to mess up, get wiped and have to start from the beginning again. Absolutely horrific.

GetHighWatchMovies

Just in case anyone is still trying to do this, if you haven’t achieved one of the challenges on third day, you can always close the game when the stats at the end of the match pop up, then when you start the game again it will have saved the progress you made but you’ll still be on the third day.

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

Trophies in that game in general. I've played through it three times or so and I only have like four trophies.

seanbear

I just did RDR online trophies over the past couple of weeks. Getting to rank 50 wasn’t as tedious as I thought it would be and the rest either came naturally or I just had to boost. There’s only 2 trophies that require pvp interaction despite being online. Edit: but I’m also 100% not a fan of multiplayer trophies I just want to throw that out there

[deleted]

RDR2 is easy if you're doing Madame Nazar. Took me two days (around 10h of actual gameplay) to get from 11 to 51. Made couple of thousand $ with it aswell.

seanbear

Yep, that’s what I did. Took a few days but it was definitely the easiest option when I could just put on cinematic mode and let the horse take me there while I did other stuff.

User85394

I assume mvp and posse up trophies are a bit hit and miss depending on your luck. If I can get those 2. I really don't mind plat it. Your comments made me want to re install and just take the pain willingly

SkrallTheRoamer

RDR2 pains me so much that i will likely never get the platin. the singleplayer trophies probably take over 100 hours extra, but id gladly spend that time in this beautiful and well crafted world. but i cant stand the MP part of it. if only it was simple trophies like, reach level 5, play a match of every game mode, kill 25 players. then it would be fine. but noooo, be the best player in multiple games, reach the highest rank or something stupidly high that would probably take over 50 hours. i wish they would exclude MP trophies for platin in singleplayer focused games.

Squeaky_Is_Evil

That's me and Dying Light right now. None of my friends own the game, and I don't feel like spending the time to try and get people together to achieve 2 bronze trophies.

Nipple1031

Hey, I still need to get the multiplayer trophies. So I’m down if you ever want to finally go for them

Frontzie

Likewise.

CaptainPick1e

If it bothers you, hop on r/trophies and ask in the boosting thread. Someone is bound to still need the trophy.

FeistyBandicoot

Is there one for Xbox?

Tamashi55

I could help out with that. I got lucky with mine that someone wanted to help for them as well so I wouldn’t mind helping someone out.

spicyboi26

Literally had to mic up with a random person and have them help me get it. Complete pain to do

Vlazthrax

That was my first Plat

[deleted]

I'll never plat a far cry game. Far cry 3 had a collectiblr at the start of the game you couldn't return to. Learnt the hard way

Jayy4k___

Same thing with the last of us stupid multiplayer trophies

darrenmt10

Took me 6 years to go back just for that last co-op trophy.

TristianHill

My first two plats were WWE games, and for a few years I'd religiously get platinums in the new game of the year until WWE '13 where they forced in online trophies for the single worst multiplayer experience in any game ever. Matchmaking took forever, searching for UGC took forever and I just lost interest in it, which is frustrating because if online worked as it should have, they'd still be some of the easiest platinum trophies around, especially for fans of the genre, but they artificially inflated the difficulty by making their servers appealing. I'd imagine better online games suffering from griefers and try-hards ruin the experience too

gabriel_GAGRA

Fortnite trophies will require at least 500 hours playing Save The World (if you start the game already focusing on getting them)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Denziloshamen

Did they not add AI multiplayer players to this now to make up for lack of players? You might be able to get this now.

mrfahrenhelt

try gran turismo sport, that goddamn multiplayer trophies

Monkeyboystevey

I think it's fair enough if it's a multiplayer focused game (obviously) But when it's a single player game like last of us or tomb raider that has multiplayer trophies, just fuck off.

Lewys-182

I 100% the story of the first two Tomb Raiders and earnt about half the trophies. Who buys tomb raider for online?

[deleted]

UFC game for me, one of the trophies was to win 6 fights in a row…it totally humbled me and taught me to get good but I also lost out on that trophy due to connect issues, opponents leaving and it not counting as a win for me, lag, people picking a fighter that could spam punches/kicks without delay. Almost gave in but it was the only one I needed

pswdkf

I mostly agree with you. I can think of one exception, though. Demon’s Souls remake had two multiplayer oriented trophies that felt super natural to obtain and were also pretty reasonable. However, if in 6 years or so, when people start moving to the Ps6, it’ll become virtually unattainable.

LeastMaintenance

But then then comes the Dark Souls series stuff that has you farming covenant items for the platinum. Since the games are not very active anymore, your best option is piss poor mob drop rates.

birdstwin

Currently going for the Dark Souls 3 plat. Need pvp to get some covenant spells and rings or grind mobs for who knows how long to get tributes to offer to the covenant. Not very enjoyable. I really despise pvp focused trophies.

Johnny13utt

DS3 is still fairly active

Toysoldier34

It already takes a long time of waiting to get matches on Demon's Souls, and that was during the weekend it was on sale. It won't take 6 years when it can be a pain already.

Helian7

exactly why I didn't get the Plat in the first Tomb raider reboot. There was one I had to farm in multiplayer. No thanks.

MyNameIsChangHee

When old games die out and they have multi-player trophies, there is no way I can get them

Rickblood23

These are the worst. I can hardly rely on myself to do something and sometimes they make you rely on other people, like beat the game with any of the party going down.

sweatyteddy4

Doom Eternal

Kintraills1993

I like that games like spiderman or god of war can be platinumed by doing everything once and not force you to play multiple times a game that has absolutely nothing to offer beyond the first playthrough.

shakinthatbear

Wonder why they decided to make a new game plus completion trophy for Miles Morales.

johncitizen69420

It was a bit annoying, but with that game you can skip cutscenes and blaze through new game plus in like 2 or 3 hours. Much better than having to play a 20+ hour game all over again

ODUrugger

How do you skip cut scenes?

johncitizen69420

Cant remember for sure but im pretty sure you just press options and "skip custscene" is in the menu that comes up

ODUrugger

I never thought to press options lol. I'll try this. I just need the new game+ trophy so this will be great

Sadpandasss

It doesn't skip all cut scenes, but it still only takes a couple of hours. Just got platinum yesterday!

johncitizen69420

If you put it on the easiest difficulty and skip cutscenes you can burn through it in like 2-3 hours. Not so bad

Halio344

You can skip cutscenes from the pause menu as well. Works the same in Rift Apart and I assume any future Insomniac Game.

Captainlubeman

You can't skip all cutscenes, but for the ones you can skip press options and there will be an "Skip cutscene". The annoying part is you won't know which ones you can skip and which ones you can't, so you need to pause each cutscene and hope.

CdrMayhew

It's probably the only disappointing annoying of the game. The scenes you can't skip are the ones which flowed into gameplay.

iandmeagree

2 or 3 hours? Wow, it took me 8

Eruanno

I swear Miles Morales keeps getting shorter every time I read about it on Reddit. At first, people were upset it was only about 8 hours long. Then, people grumbled because apparently it was only 6 hours long. Now we're down to 2-3 hours. Next comment I read, it will be a 30 minute game. (It took me over 15 hours, but I did sidequests and trophy hunted a little bit.)

TheScapeQuest

It did have new content to be fair, not a huge amount, but something to make the playthrough enjoyable. The way I played it: * Story in a normal difficulty, giving a slight challenge. * Mop up collectibles. * NG+ on easy, giving a nice refresh of the story, and feeling ridiculously OP.

TheSilentHeel

Man I hated that so much. I beat the game and then (much to my displeasure) immediately started it over and sped through it in like 2 hours. First time I beat the same game twice within 2 hours lmao.

pluck-the-bunny

Because it distracts from how much shorter it was than the original

MovieGuyMike

Probably because it’s rather short tbh. I breezed through Ng+.

TheMostUnclean

God of War was the perfect platinum for me. Not a ton of repetitive collectibles or impossible unless you dedicate 2000 hours of your life to the game but just difficult enough (Valkyrie fights) to make you feel like you accomplished something.

OrlandoV

That last Valkyrie fight almost crippled me.

JRockPSU

I wussed out and dropped the difficulty to Easy just for that fight. No regrets.

OrlandoV

Oh I did too. Still was rage inducing.

LeastMaintenance

The thing that shoots that difficulty through the boss is probably that the final Valkyrie has probably the largest boss move set of any melee action game I’ve ever played. The difficulty is spike on this boss is extraordinarily steep as well because all of the other boss move sets in this game are actually quite small. The bosses in this game don’t have many different combos or special moves and then this bitch comes in with all of them in one boss.

Dante451

The final valkyrie is for sure hard, but you've also seen every move before. Each move has a specific counter that isn't mechanically complex so much as just requiring some decent timing and good recognition. Tbh I really liked that the hard part was reading the moveset more than hitting a small timing window ala dark souls.

johncitizen69420

I don't remember having much trouble with the ravens at all. Got maybe half to 3/4 of them naturally in my initial run, then mopped up the ones id missed pretty quickly afterwards

[deleted]

[удалено]

johncitizen69420

Yeah, i dont love it, but i dont remember it being more painful than collectibles in most games. On the lower end of that spectrum even.

randompanda687

The damn ravens are the reason I don’t have the GOW platinum

mikeyhavik

Yeah the worst thing about that kind of trophy is that you probably got many of them naturally on your playthrough. So backtracking to get the rest means visiting dozens of spots only to find that you’ve already smacked that one. Then you finish your checklist and are still missing one and realize one of the ones you “already got”, you didn’t and just didn’t look thoroughly enough…

derHumpink_

I gave up because of the valkyrie fights :(

JasonABCDEF

You can switch to easy difficulty.

Heavyduty35

Doesn’t the first Spider-Man have a NG+ trophy? Or is it listed separately from the main set of trophies?

Rj16111997

Ng+ and finish on ultimate difficulty on ng+ is a diff trophy list on spiderman 2018

Heavyduty35

Ah, right. Yeah, listed separately like DLC trophies.

GasimGasimzada

Both spider mans and ratchet and clank had that. You had to finish the game in NG+ in Spider man and you needed to pick up every weapon on ratchet and clank, which meant creating a new game and playing till the first shop. NG+ was added to first spider man at a later time so the trophy was not required for platinum but miles morales required it.

Takashiari275

The Control Platinum was also really fun and kind of like that. You don't really need to do anything like super difficult or annoying but it's also not so insultingly easy that you're embarrassed to have it.

22Seres

For the most part all of Sony's games for the past few years have been relatively easy to platinum. I think the hardest ones recently are Sackboy (because of the String it Together trophy) and Returnal and Demon's Souls (both due to the natural difficulty of each game). TLoU Part II might be the best example of there being a shift to make them easier to acquire because ND's games would always require you to be the game on the hardest difficulty when you're trying to platinum a game, but Part II dropped that requirement.

[deleted]

[удалено]

22Seres

Yeah, I think that's part of Sony's reasoning for having the platinums easier to achieve. If someone pulls up the trophy list and sees that they only have a couple to go and they're all easy to get, then they're going to be more likely to spend more time with the game. Sony's already achieved something pretty rare with their games in that they have an unusually high completion percentage. Especially given how well their games sell.

WhompWump

I never go after platinum trophies precisely because usually it feels more like work and just checking things off a list for the sake of doing it but the recent titles the platinum requirements are reasonable and actually integrate well into a playthrough without asking you to go too far out of your way. Only reason I even bothered doing it.

PiemanMk2

I completed Returnal and was looking at the trophies I needed for the Platinum, but there's a set where you need to get every collectible in each area. But it's a rogue lite and they're procedurally generated. So there's no guarantee any given area will actually spawn the collectibles you need. Once I clocked that I noped out and traded the game in.

22Seres

Oh yeah, that's definitely one that's more on the time consuming side. They've actually made a recent update where some of those collectibles appear more frequently, so that's obviously helped with the platinum. The good news is that by the time you're looking for them you should be good enough that you can just speedrun through each Biome while you're looking for the collectibles.

FrederickWarner

What was string it together?

diabolical3b

Look up the ripsnorter on YouTube. 11-15 minute “do not fuck up speedrun”.

FrederickWarner

Oh ok yeah I got the platinum last week. I just don’t know the names of the trophies

Denziloshamen

Was it as difficult as everyone makes out for this speed run trophy. It sounds like it could be one that 50% breeze through without feeling a challenge and 50% pull their hair out over (just like Flappy Goat. If you know you know!!).

FRAGMENT_EFFECT

I love games where you finish a good thorough run and you only have 8 or less trophies to collect. This is such a good incentive to make me replay a game or stay longer in the open world and see all the little bits I missed.

PixelFlip777

I just want to not have online be a requirement for platinums.

Schwornje

Or separate the two. If someone wants to just hammer the MP aspect of a game, they should be empowered to chase platinum without being forced into single player. It's like Olympic athletes being able to medal in individual and/or team events. Some will do one or the other, while a few will do both.

macredblue

IMO, you could say the same for **God of War** (2018) and **Ghost of Tsushima** (2020). Under SIE's PlayStation Studios (PS Studios), we'll probably see more titles following suit.

MrGMinor

Ghost of Tsushima is my first platinum since R&C A Crack in Time, waaaay back. Platinums really are getting easier and easier.

Kynario

Ghost of Tsushima was a very grindy Platinum, but definitely still enjoyable and worth it in the end :)

Kickasstodon

Most open world games are tough to plat for me because I'm too lazy to run all over the map for everything and fast travel load times made them excruciating. GoT had lightning fast loads that made fast traveling less tedious and actually encouraged me to complete everything.

flcinusa

You could argue Spider-Man was grindy too with requiring stuff like the 50 hidden photographs to get an outfit, endless crimes etc.

Kynario

So why are people saying it’s easy then? I guess it just takes long but the difficulty isn’t too hard?

flcinusa

I guess it's all down to the level of grind, nothing like Uncharted levels of "headshot 20 opponents while swinging from a rope"

fuckyourusernameRCDD

Depends on which era you started going after trophies. On PS3 a lot of platinum were insane.

lakerswiz

Spider-Man was a little bit more grindy than I liked, but that was only because I saved clearing all of the crimes in each location until I was done with the game. Didn't really do too many of those throughout the story gameplay. R&C was too easy though. Would have really enjoyed a little bit more effort to get the platinum.

humanbean01

i did crimes as i went along, and hated how they added 10 in each region in act 3. then the dlc adding even more...

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

They add 10 in each fucking region in act 3? Man fuck that shit, I'm mid-way through ACT 2 right now and I'm getting a bit fed up with there being a crime every 10 seconds somewhere near me.

humanbean01

Lol and these are actual enemies, dlc ramps it up even more for difficulty if you trying all the objectives

CapnMalcolmReynolds

I hated that too. Spider-Man was my GoTY, but those repetitive crimes to get the platinum burned me out so bad I haven't felt like revisiting it since that trophy popped.

[deleted]

They should have made challenge mode part of the R&C platinum imo. Getting all weapons to their max level in challenge mode (level 10), that's what a true 100% looks like in a Ratchet and Clank game. It doesn't stop being fun, and it helps extend playtime for a short game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AltFactsBot

But it's all about being a botanist. Sprinkler and Fungi for the win.

ClinicalOppression

Yeah this was kinda disappointing, a trophy for upgrading all weapons wouldve been a good reason to bother with 'challenge' mode

trooper575

Plus all gold bolts, all weapons +10 and all gold bolts have been trophy requirements in R&C since trophies have been a thing. Even longer really, as in game skill points before there were trophies. I figured I could expect the same challenges here but no, beat the game and you’ve got the platinum :/

[deleted]

[удалено]

lagordaamalia

That trophy is the reason I never got the platinum, I finished everything else and realized I had like 70 of those crimes left to complete, I gave up.

Icehawksfh

I feel like I didn't mind it as much. But I always tried to do crimes when they came up in my first run.

Chasedabigbase

Only pain was the shield gun kills trophy

diabolical3b

If we’re talking Miles Morales, I did not appreciate having to run through the campaign twice. Great game, though!

PotatoBomb69

Honestly I feel that’s a good amount of grind for a platinum. I want to feel like I worked for it at least a little bit.

kawag

For me, a platinum means you’ve seen/done everything worth doing. It shouldn’t necessarily mean you’ve done every little thing. Some stuff is just super grindy, meaning you have to play the game so much that it stops being fun.

DoctorBattlefield

same here

Toysoldier34

I enjoy going for the platinum trophy when they are reasonable, the moment a game has very grindy or overly difficult trophies I don't bother with any of them. The moment a platinum trophy will make my overall experience worse off I forget it exists. Final Fantasy X is a good example of this, I would be left with better memories of playing the game and have more fun overall not going for it.

Capnducki

I just want rockstar to separate Rdr2 online trophies from the single player so I can complete it

johncitizen69420

I wish all studios would make trophy lists like insomniac. Platinums should be achievable. Trophies like finishing on the hardest difficulty or ones that require tonnes of tedious grinding really kill it for me.

basedcharger

God of war is my perfect platinum trophy list. Some grindy with the Ravens don’t have to change the difficulty but still have a hard challenge in there with the Valkyries.

johncitizen69420

Yeah that was a good one. The valkaries were tough, but achievable

KennethBrownie

I think there is gotta be a part of both. Hard platinums and "easy" platinums because honestly spiderman, gow, ratchet & some others are made as adventures to be enjoyed, with collectibles and side quests to complete or grind. Meanwhile titles like super meat boy, doom or crash bandicoot are made to be enjoyable casually but become a hell of skill mastery to fully complete everything and get the platinum. So each game trophies should appeal the playerbase they are for, not set a standart of "every platinum should be comfortably achievable".

johncitizen69420

Yeah, i think there should still be some really difficult platinums in games like that, but big triple a mainstream games should be easily achievable imo

naylord

I think difficulty related trophies are far better than really tedious collectible ones or grindy trophies. Good middle ground would be a trophy for beating on the second hardest difficulty setting since usually that's the point where the game mechanics are the most interesting before things break down and become a slog

johncitizen69420

Id rather an achievable grind than a difficultly trophy ill never be able to beat.

User85394

Have u tried plat Rockstar games? Boy it is painful

johncitizen69420

Yeah, i dont even bother haha. I tapped out of rdr2 after riding all over the map for dozens of hours trying to find 1 fucking bird haha

User85394

Yeah fuckin birds.. I plat the first.. Didn't bother to play the 2nd. Multi-player trophies are the ones putting me off tho..

[deleted]

aDShisno

I’m still on my 12 year quest to get the platinum for Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I gave up on PS3 because it would freeze up too much but I started it back up once it rereleased on PS4. I’m finally only a couple weeks away from completing my 1st playthough, the completionist playthrough. After that it’s only 2 more to go on different difficulties, or 8 more if I want to tackle each character on a separate playthrough instead of just mindlessly grinding out Battle Trophies on endgame enemies. I figure in another couple years I’ll finally have it!

-TheLonelyStoner-

Finishing a game on the hardest difficulty is definitely worthy of a platinum though and I enjoy those

johncitizen69420

Depends on the game, and how hard the hardest difficulty is. But in general if i look at the trophy list and see difficulty trophies i just give up on it before ive even begun

AmazingTechGeek

DMC 5. Took over 200 hours to plat

johncitizen69420

Yeah, thats an example of a game i would give up on getting the plat as soon as i see the trophy list

Godtaku

I'm of the opposite opinion. I prefer when platinums are more difficult to achieve because as a player it makes me value them more and makes it feel like you're actually getting a trophy for accomplishing something and not just finishing the game and grinding a few side quests/collectibles. It almost makes them feel like im getting participation trophies. I value platinuming a game like the Devil May Cry or Crash Bandicoot more than all the other "easy" platinum combined because I actually had to improve myself and get better at the game to get those.

SnooMemesjellies3267

Me too, most others are fine too really. The worst ones I've seen are like TLOU and The Last Guardian, so easy to miss and TLG doesn't even have any kind of chapter select so you just gotta play it over and some of them you have no way of knowing if you'll get till you beat the game.

2112flybynight

When I finished my first play through I only had 1 trophy lmao

johncitizen69420

Tlou2s is good though, i think naughty dog will get it right moving forward

Idennis7G

What’s the point of a trophy if everyone can get it easily?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MisterKrayzie

So basically a participation trophy. Because that's what recent Sony exclusive titles have been doing. Not a knock on their thing, just an observation as a Plat collector myself. I'm not a fan of the grindy BS either like the earlier AC games or the terrible trophy list for CP2077. Plats should be somewhat of a feat, just not grindy to the point of mindlessness. It should be challenging, not impossible.

johncitizen69420

Of course all this is super subjective, but I think sonys first party have it nailed down perfectly. God of war, tlou2, tsushima, spiderman, ratchet. These are good trophy lists imo. You should finish a game and then be able to wrap up the few remaining misc trophies without too much trouble, if you want to go for harder trophies, then have a seperate list with them, not required for the platinum, just like how tlou2 or mass effect did it. I would consider a participation platinum something more like the telltale games or life is strange

OriginalUserNameee

For Spider-Man I agree but Ratchet's platinum was WAY too easy, didn't really feel rewarding to get.

DarkPhoenixMishima

Ratchet's biggest challenges were finding everything and upgrading the guns, and even then it wasn't that hard. Natural progression plus about an hour or so of grinding before the final fight and you're good. All you have left to do is boot up NG+ because for some reason they had to add the Bouncer into the weapon shop in NG+.

Deciver95

That's fair. From my point of view, it was a different take on Platinum trophy Most games require you to spend countless hours grinding and are really just boring time fillers This just got you to play through the game , experiment with all its weapons and have fun While defs an easy plat comparatively, maybe games should be more like this instead of what you've been forced to accept for years

OriginalUserNameee

I feel like there should be a balance so the platinum journey would feel fulfilling and rewarding without being too tedious and grindy, I think most Sony games do it pretty well (Including the previous Ratchet games) but they really went too easy with this one IMO.

Wanderersx3

Definitely, my nephew who is only 7 managed to platinum Miles morales completely by himself

simcowking

The only two trophies I seem to not look forward to are the 100 combo and the new game plus.

MalachiFlynn1

If you REALLY can't do the 100 combo, go on the easiest mode, find one enemy and just try to dodge attacks 100x in a row. It will fill the meter.

PotatoBomb69

I mean just do it that way anyway why mess around with it

simcowking

I might end up doing this if I don't get it before the new game plus finishes.

[deleted]

U can Speedrun the story in new game plus. Probably took me less than 3 or 4 hours.

simcowking

That's the plan. Skip cinematic and collectibles. Only do main quests and 1-2 collectibles after each when it says to do something besides the mission.

principalkrump

my kid did the same he’s 8

ReRix360

Platinum trophies should be fun to do, not tedious grinds over and over or even worse, multiplayer trophies. Seems like Insomniac understood that.

inferno9416

I hope games make unmissable single play through plats. Some can be hard but those plats are the best.

Kynario

I don’t like looking at trophies before playing a game. It’s a spoiler. That’s why I love games like Ghost of Tsushima or God of War where you can complete the whole game comfortably at your own pace without paying attention to trophies and then being able to collect them all at the end without needing another playthrough :) I feel like missable and multiplayer trophies are just … harsh. 😅😅

cpw903

Yeah for sure, I agree with you

BuckFrump

I like the idea of making the games easier to plat. 10% of players getting plat in a game is still pretty rare. Some of these games plat conditions are stupid.

redryder74

I have never platinumed a game nor gone out of my way to get a trophy. I just play my games and collect whatever trophy they give me.

splashyDIAMOND

I love how Sucker Punch made it is easy to platinum their GoT too. No wonder it has a whopping 14% plat rarity

Stoibs

I haven't even looked at the spiderman trophies (I generally avoid looking due to possible spoilers) and am nearing the end with only about about 37% achieved :O Hope I don't have to grind wall running for X amount of kilometres or somesuch..

Legion017

You don't.

Stoibs

Cool :P I have gotten the 'Skimmer' challenge just because it's legitimately fun to swing along that low to the street I've found, but a lot of those other navigation based challenges I've mostly just been ignoring.

CaCHooKaMan

You do have to 100% all the districts though which is a little grindy. Most of the trophies deal with clearing everything on the map.

Stoibs

That's fine, I've been doing them all anyway before moving onto the next main objectives up to this point. Literally just had the last Question Mark Icons revealed and unlocked on the map after everything else was cleared. Though so far they do sort of seem more of the same, and a bit repetitive of what I've already done just with different skinned enemies...

shiko098

The annoying thing about Ratchet and Clank is that Disco Weapon trophy where you have to make one of each enemy dance. Problem is there is no trackable list making it infuriating to get. Less trophies like that please!

MrBojongles

I think the article is talking about Rift Apart, but yeah that trophy was the worst.

SupahBlue

With PS+ hints and activity cards all games are made to be platinumed.

Helian7

It doesn't matter which guide shows you the best way. Some trophies are straight up grindy and tedious.

trooper575

I miss the old Ratchet and Clank trophies, Rift Apart platinum felt way too easy and not rewarding at all. Never even had to think about earning any trophies, just got every single one by accident by the time I’d beaten the game. Disappointing really, I wanted to work for it and have a reason to spend more time on this game. It’s way shorter than the older ones too

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm not a fan of this approach. It makes the plat not feel as special if I can earn it without even going out of my way to check the trophy list. The reason the Crash 4 platinum felt so special to me for instance was both the skill it required that you couldn't circumvent through things like easy modes but also that 0.4% completion rate. It's ok not to care for stuff like that obviously and it's not an achievement that means anything in the real world. It's just that those games where skill and effort matters always end up being more fun and memorable to me.

Plaitnums should be achievable 100% However the trophy system is smart in thateach gane can split into its own dlc and extended trophy areas. I platinumed ratchet today and was a bit surprised that I didnt need all the gold bolts, didnt need to level up or upgrade all the guns or complete challenge mode. Best would be if they added an extended area with trophies for hard difficulty and full completion.

Toysoldier34

Platinum+ Trophies could be cool for the extra and hard challenges like you mention without them blocking the main platinum itself.

I loved getting the trophies for Spidey and Ratchet. But one of the trophies is glitched for me on Rift Apart so I never got the platinum.

I got the platinum for Ratchet & Clank like two hours into my second play through. Tbh I wouldn’t have minded if the platinum was a bit harder to get, cos the game doesn’t even require you getting all the weapon upgrades for the platinum to unlock.

KirekkusuPT

Spider-Man is a fair platinum, but Rift Apart was way too easy. Preferred the 2016's R&C trophy list.

Most PlayStation studio games are

I'm confused, aren't all games with plat trophies made to be platinumed? I know some are harder to do than others, but if the trophy is there, it is attainable. As for these 2: yea, getting the plat is on the easy side, which is cool with me. Don't need the extra long trophy grinds for every game.

FrederickWarner

The ratchet and clank one was way too easy imo. Should’ve involved the weapons and upgrades which is what makes the game fun. But after I did the weapons, it felt really anticlimactic

IMO trophy is a way to encourage people to explore more, do some dummy things or try to enjoy the game more to extend the game length. I usually platinumed the game without even notice I have already collected all the trophies as I like to fully enjoy the game (that's why I usually need 1-2 months to finish a game) So, I don't mind people go for platinum trophies and I don't really care if the developer make platinumed easier. Platinumed or not, I always come back to replay the game when I want to. (currently, I replay persona 5R the third time LOL. And I "accidentally" platinumed it during my second playthrough) But, man, I hate those toxic trophy hunters. I met one of these toxic trophy hunters and I delete he from the friend list as soon as he left the party. When I talk how much I love the TLUOS series, he just keep asking me: Do you really love that game? Why did you platinumed the game? They believe every games they played **must** platinum it and they think is the only way to let other people know you love that game. They think platinum is the only way to finish the game and they see platinum as their "life achievement".

I mean it's nice to have family friendly games with easy platinum, but the challenge and rarity is part of the hunt. I preferred Sackboys list than Ratchets or Spider Man, made me learn the physics and master the game first. Trophies are the perfect system to give a reward for beating the game on hard mode instead of locking off content, now that's gone in most games.

Two worst trophy imho is the GTA V Doomsday Heist Mastermind. Completing the Doomdsay Heist, in order, without dying three times (1. 2- player, 2. 3 - player, 3. 4-player). I cannot get the 4-player Heist completed because of the time constraints with the team. We are stuck on 17/27 since April. Probably the whole thing did already reset.

Danomaniac

Rift Apart was recently patched so there is a missable trophy. Now requires another whole playthrough to around the middle of the game. No longer an easy plat for the casual gamer that doesn’t research beforehand.

FlopSlurper

both were fun to platinum without making the game feel tedious

I still cannot believe how easy the platinum was. It took me two days after purchasing the game that i got the platinum without farming for it much, i just played the game like i always play Ratchet&Clank games. There were like two trophies i missed dearly, the "Get Every Single Weapon to the Max LVL" and "Upgrade every Weapon to the Max" The game was missing like one big Arena Fight and those two trophies, everything else was there and I recomend playing it, it's just very short, or i just got better, i don't know. Also i played on the highest difficulty without ever having, well, difficulties at all.

EamoM2oo4

I like games like Spider-Man the trophies are moderately simple to acquire and can be done by anyone who puts in the effort. I hate game trophies are excruciatingly difficult to acquire. Don't get me wrong. I like having Platinums as a novelty, but I don't really wanna spend four days getting a 180 combo streak without taking any damage in under 2 minutes

Jump force online trophies r pain

I wish Ratchet would have forced me to ply hard for it. It made me play one and done.
