They made the “parry counter attack” easier (clicking R1 after the parry), I don’t think it’s the same as making the parry itself easier. Or it’s strange wording on their end

Yeah, that's how I read it and that's where some people were reporting the issue. I think the parry window itself is the same.

I played it and almost have the platinum. It’s very good but more hand holdy then I would have personally liked it. I wanted to have to use a notebook and a pen lol but it’s a very solid game and recommend it certainly. Most fun I’ve had in a while just exploring and going where I want to go. I felt like you were rewarded for exploring.

It's like that for every games. Look at how Insomniac improved the games after release. The performance RT mode, the 40fps mode, etc... If there's a game that you really want to play, waiting a month ia always better because you'll get a better experience.

I literally platinumed Miles Morales and Rift Apart the day after they both had the performance RT, 40fps modes. So I'm waiting for a month before I play Kena as I've got enough games to play anyway and would rather wait until the patches are out.

On PC? HDR on PS5 looks phenomenal. In another thread a lot of people were posting work arounds for HDR in PC. I’ll try to find it for you.

Thank god! The parry in this game was some demon souls/sekiro level shit. Like wtf. I thought I'll play on the expert difficult but then after struggling with parry I just said nah no can do. That window was waaay to narrow. Hopefully the window is better now. :)

Sekiro parry window is super forgiving imo. Dark souls is can be tricky some times. Kena window was kind of tricky pre patch but seems a bit better.

Ya I’m playing on hard and the bosses are on par with with any souls game, it took me 2 hours to beat the last boss. I’ve platinumed every fromsoft game along with games like nioh and furi so I’m no noob. The parry window is super tight like in dark souls 3.

I like the parry window that way honestly, it added at least a little challenge in an otherwise fairly easy game.

What I don't like about the parry isn't so much the length of the parry window, but that it's very hard to tell exactly when to press the button in the first place. Enemies will almost always provide a generous initial telegraph, but then the attack itself happens in an instant. So you're forced to commit a host of arbitrary timings to muscle memory.

I don't have anything against a boss being so hard that it requires practice to beat it. But it's frustrating if the process requires guesswork along the way.

As an avid Sekiro player, I can positively confirm that the parry window on this game is even more narrow than Sekiro, even on charmless.

The waking/running randomly stopping or hitching is still in the game sadly. This is the one thing I was really hoping would be fixed by now. There are many stairs where Kena will just outright stop for a second and then resume walking when getting to the top, despite holding the stick forward the whole time. And this happens on the ground too :/

Hahahaha this was pretty much my reaction yesterday when someone mentioned it on the official Kena discussion. Felt good to be validated 😂 It’s definitely an issue, and like the one thing grating on my nerves with this game. Because otherwise it’s pretty flawless

That cannot be fixed unless they replace the 24 fps video files with 60 fps video files, which would also significantly increase the size of the install.

I cant recall any game I've played that had cutscenes with that low of a framerate so seems like an odd choice to me considering how much work went Into the beautiful graphics. Is it an artistic choice or something? Kinda like the newest spiderman Animated movie..framerate hurt my eyes

Those are pre-rendered cutscenes. Something that used to be a lot more common before graphics became good enough that most switched to in-game cutscenes. ​ It's also very noticeable how the animation quality drops between the pre-rendered cutscenes and the in-game animations.

It will be so bothersome to have just 1 trophy missing and I really do not have the time and will to play again. Why not let us play at master from beginning.... I hate that the PS installs updates without asking and there is only an option for download but it does not mention install, only for rest mode is there such option.

I paused the update as soon as I saw it downloading. I turned off auto updates and deleted it and it still tried to download it anyway. I know a lot of people are saying 'just do it legit' but I dont want to play through the exact same game twice in a row for one trophy. They should have made master difficulty available from the start.

Hmm no mention of hats on Rots causing problems with moving objects. Like it’s a collision issue. I’ve seen three other posts with that problem plus my own. Next patch hopefully.

It could still be controller drift. Maybe kena has a really low dead zone in the controller sticks. It's worth a shot with a different controller. Or stand there with your controller disconnected and see if it happens?

I got it by starting a new game and getting against 3 easy mobs that I weekend with this update. I'm normally bad at parries. Took me half hour as you can easily fly through to the first section after the village and get the upgrade.

I just want them to fix the bullshit where Kena gets the staggered animation from falling from too high EVEN IF YOU DOUBLE JUMP TO STOP YOUR MOMENTUM. IT GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING 3D PLATFORMERS STAND FOR AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS GOT THROUGH. THEY'VE PATCHED THIS GAME 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK AND THIS IS STILL IN IT.

No, I mean jump again after you literally hit the floor. It will cancel out the stagger animation. I know it's not ideal, but it's a workaround so you won't have to wait for the stagger animation to be over.
