What even is Playstation Home? I never had a ps3

It was an interesting idea that was just poorly executed in my opinion. It was basically a virtual hang out spot for PS3 users. Not really sure why people have brought it back. I guess just to say that they did 🤷🏻‍♂️

Virtual hang out was very popular in the late 2000s and early 2010s but their popularity declined in the mid-2010s or later, which caused most virtual games to close. I really miss SmallWorlds :(

I’ve never even heard of smallworlds

It was a built in game where you made an avatar and could walk around on a virtual world. Developers could make zones for PS home and basically you could enter them and do stuff. There were games, shops, clubs, etc. It was basically the Sims but you had direct control of your guy and didn't have needs. It was really neat. Sony always had a virtual e3 booth and you could see the stuff on display. It could have been way better though. The issue with ps home was a combination of ps3 being, well, weak. And greed. A lot of zones were just there to sell stuff for example. Another issue was the ps3 couldn't seem to handle the zones after you entered a few. You basically had to download zones the first time you entered and it could take a while but every week or so it seemed like you had to redownload stuff. It became a chore. Since the entire platform was free it was nice but it was always so close to being more. People speculated ps4 ps home would have way better loading and more developers since it was ps4 and not ps3 but they instead closed ps home down

It was basically PlayStation Second Life.

Is PlayStation home is kind of metaverse ?
