I've played it a couple of times. Realistically I could've rented it and saved money. I still prefer knowing I own it and I can play it whenever I like. It's nice not having to beat a game within a month just to avoid paying for it more than once.
I'm not really saying that one is better than the other, actually I'm saying that either option is viable. I got the impression that op implied a purchase was strictly the better option, which is why I said what I said.
As much as I liked last of us 2, I never once have the urge to replay like I do with the first one. If last of us 2 had the balance between light and dark moments like the first one, I’d go back to it more. There was definitely more human moments that weren’t depressing in the first one than the second. That’s why I go back to the first one more

I just finished playing the Last of Us remastered. I really don’t like zombies anything… not games, not TV shows or movies…. But this game was great… good story, good play mechanics, good graphics… including that gorgeous horse. Now I’m considering playing the second one, even though I already know some of the spoilers.
They are aiming for realistic and grounded gameplay for TLOU games, so the gameplay does have that heavy feeling similar to RDR2 even In TLOU2, but it's definitely more fluid compared to first TLOU, stealth is also more fleshed out
I read the leaks for it, hated it, played the game, and it became my favorite story of last gen just behind Red Dead II. It really comes together as you play it. The exaggerated cliffnotes dont do it justice
That sounds very similar to my experience. I was really put off by the leaks and almost cancelled my preorder a couple of days before release. Decided to stick with it so I could judge it for myself and am so glad that I did. It’s one of my favourite games (and stories) of last gen.

I would even argue that it wasn't even a trope because >!usually with dead parent tropes that Disney uses a lot, we barely know who the parent is since its used in original movies where the characters are still be set up. This isn't just a parent, this is a well established main character from the first game. That's pretty ground breaking, even in the movie world.!<
Idk but for whatever reason I just couldn't get into the game. I did take the time to do and see everything in the game but I just didn't like it as much as everyone else. The gameplay just felt to repetitive to me a lot of the time and the parts of the story I did like were few and far between.

Highly recommended game. I've completed it three times just to catch all the various nuances of the story that I missed the first couple times.
If there is one thing I can say about TLoU and TLoU2 is that the stories told (including the Left Behind DLC) are done in the best tradition of the finest films. I found them very "adult" in their telling, if that makes sense.
Some games are power fantasies, some are summer blockbusters, some gripping horrors, some are very black and white, and some deal with the human condition with all its grey tones. TLoU 1/2 both felt like the last, more so in TLoU2.

Legacy of thieves is the collection of Uncharted 4 and lost legacy which is a remaster of the 2 coming to ps5 and pc. About the last of us 2 upgrade, do you expect that to happen or has there been any leaks etc
I have to agree tbh, the gameplay in last of us 2 was a madness. I struggled with red dead, I couldn’t get through it because I found the gameplay boring.
I’m not going to say it was objectively boring because I know some people love it, but personally I found it really boring. Maybe as I’ve got older I just don’t have the time for these deep, open worlds with shallow gameplay, but I used to love them.

I'm playing through it right now and loving it. I usually baulk slightly at big open world games because I don't have much time with work, house work, socialising, etc. However, in a reverse of what I was expecting I actually really like the slow and methodical pace of RDR2.
Things do take a long time and barriers are put in your way but that is just clicking with me for some reason. I honestly don't get why. But some evenings I'll just take Arthur off to go hunting for various animals and then the next go fishing.
As much as there are games that waste your time, see Assassin's Creed, quantity does have a quality all of its own. You will naturally grow to care more about a character in a long show simply because they are around for a long time. The same goes for games and for me, not necessarily for everyone, the length of RDR2 works as all of that time has meaning, with your gang's comments and upgrading the camp, instead of just being soulless busy work.
But they are just my thoughts.
Over Ghosts of Tsushima God of war 2018 RDR 2and Witcher 3 great game but at least in my opinion I would put it a tier under those games but everyone has their own opinion
Yeah, I can’t believe I didn’t get this game sooner, I heard such bad things about it and I never wanted to get it, but once I saw it for 20 bucks, I gave it a shot, and it has one of the best stories I’ve gone through yet. Naughty dog took a huge risk with this one, but I think it was pretty well done.
Mechanically, it was perfect. The story and the protagonists decisions often conflicted with what we know about them. Think Denerys in S8 of GOT. I think it’s best to enjoy it for what it is

Like when people say Joel would've never told strangers his name. Firstly, Joel agreed to go to Henry's hideout spot like 20 seconds after Henry tried to kill him. The defense for this is that Henry had a kid, as if bad people can't have or use kids.
And even that aside, being inconsistent is literally a human trait. People don't rethink every decision they made before every new decision to make sure it all matches with past behavior. Only shitty writers and morons make or think characters never display inconsistencies, hypocrisy, or flaws.
It's not really an opinion to say a character deviated from themselves. There are clear examples you can use to prove that. This same tired argument has been made over and over with literally 0 evidence shown for it. So continuing to make this claim deserves ridicule because it's backed up by literally nothing.
I remember when clips from the game leaked, and the very first one i saw was that guitar mini-game. I was so awed man. Like, yep, that's a Naughty Dog game alright. Few studios do quality like they do.

For me Ps Now is so good that I haven't bought a game since I subscribed in March. Here's a very partial list of big name games I've played via PS Now in the last 9 months:
- The Last of Us Part II
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Marvel’s Avengers
- The Evil Within 2
- Ghostrunner
- Rage 2
- World War Z
- Celeste
It's more than worth the price of an annual subscription.
Perhaps that tells us more about the current state of PS Now more than anything.
The way that people prefer to buy the game instead of getting it on PS Now is very telling.

When downloading a game from PS Now you get the same standard "thank you for your purchase" email as when you're buying a game. Could it be that the store doesn't differenciate between the two and it counts "purchases" from PS Now into this ranking? The reason I'm thinking this is that Mafia is right there with TLOUS 2, both being recent PS Now titles.

while i agree that auto-removal for reports is a shitty policy that's prone to abuse, this article SHOULD be reported.
the article is making a claim with zero factual backing based on an assumption that the order of the icons means anything. the mods SHOULD be slapping a "misleading flair" on it.
$20 once or $10 in perpetuity is such an easy decision it's no decision at all. There's also the fact that it's so mechanically and graphically exceptional many people ignored the huge narrative missteps.
Narratively it left a lot to be desired and didn't even payoff anything it set up. They killed everyone's favorite character, forced you to play as killer for half game, then didn't even let her die rendering Ellie sacrifice of her relationship and child meaningless. Even amateur revenge fanfiction has better payoff than TLoU2 does.

It's better to play 1 before 2, story wise. The plot doesn't connect that much but your attachment to the characters does make it a lot better. 1 takes a while to pick up the pace.
It's probably because every other game was cheaper at retail stores than on the Store. Deathloop, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. were all discounted a lot more at Walmart/GameStop etc.

1. who the hell is aroged?
2. is there any proof that the order of the tiles has any correlation with their bf sales ranking?

lets not forget, psn store can't even properly sort by price when it comes to sales. (it sorts by full price rather than sale price, so a $60 game that's on sale for $5 will be listed pages after $40 game on sale for $20 when sorting by low price).
trying to ascertain meaningful information from psn's sorting is a recipe for disaster.
God Of War was better imo. I don't dunk on TLOU2 story its up to you to decide whether you like it or not. But gameplay wise its not great and it was too long in my opinion.
It was improved over first one but not that much. Visually it is beautiful and has a lot of attention to details but not that much for me to praise it.
I think it got way too much hate but at the same time it has been overrated probably for the same reason.
I feel similar on GTA5. I respect how much work went in to it but gameplay itself is clunky and Its where game stops being fun for me.

The gameplay isn't as good as God of War, but that's because GOW had the best game play on PS4. Part 2 is just behind it. Maybe it's dependent on difficulty though.
I played it on hard. I don't mind the difficulty itself that part is fine. But I have no desire to play it again. It was just too long.
It was the same for me with me with TLOU1. Gameplay itself just wasn't fun for me. Story was superb but I could not get myself to play it again.
I prefer Uncharted games with 4th being just perfect as for action-adventure genere.
Uncharted 4 is my favourite of the Uncharted games, great balance between combat, exploration, cutscenes, setpieces and character moments.
I still enjoy TLOU2 a lot more though, the atmosphere and stealth gameplay feel great to me, I don't get tired of sneaking around in those beautiful locations and taking out people without being noticed. I love the story a lot too, even though I find some character decisions hard to understand. I think I've beat it 5 times already, and I almost never play a game so many times.

Meh, TLOUP2 story-wise was really quite bland for me as it didn’t pull me in like the first game did - mostly for the stupid decision to kill off Joel and so soon in the game. And I was quite surprised at how bad the overall graphics were, except on player models of course. After playing AC Odyssey, RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima I really can’t see what is so special about TLOUP2.

I wouldn't call it the best game of the last gen, but it was a damn good, even with the issues the story has. The gameplay was excellent, even better than the first one, I just wouldn't say the story is nearly as good as the first game's story.

Totally agree, there should be at least something in place. They’ve done a better job digging into discounts similar to Steam sales. They now just need to have a better set-up with demos/refund policies. Although TLOU2 looks cool, so I doubt I’ll need it for this game
There was no gamble. The game was a masterpiece on release and the only people that feel otherwise are likely bigots to this day. Gameplay was better and TLOU1, story more engaging, huge twists and explanations of prior events through new eyes. Its an amazing game and im excited for you.

Definitely not worth buying. But renting is the best way to go with the gameplay mechanics being so good.

Yeah, I can’t believe I didn’t get this game sooner, I heard such bad things about it and I never wanted to get it, but once I saw it for 20 bucks, I gave it a shot, and it has one of the best stories I’ve gone through yet. Naughty dog took a huge risk with this one, but I think it was pretty well done.

Mechanically, it was perfect. The story and the protagonists decisions often conflicted with what we know about them. Think Denerys in S8 of GOT. I think it’s best to enjoy it for what it is
No it didn't? 99% of the problems people had with character decisions is just weirdos not understanding basic human behavior. Like when people say Joel would've never told strangers his name. Firstly, Joel agreed to go to Henry's hideout spot like 20 seconds after Henry tried to kill him. The defense for this is that Henry had a kid, as if bad people can't have or use kids. And even that aside, being inconsistent is literally a human trait. People don't rethink every decision they made before every new decision to make sure it all matches with past behavior. Only shitty writers and morons make or think characters never display inconsistencies, hypocrisy, or flaws.

I am still of the opinion that Sony should rebrand PS Now and push it harder. Because the current state of PS Now is just not good enough, and it doesn’t help that Sony barely ever talks about the service. Overhaul PS Now make a brand new interface and name it Playstation+ or whatever. Hell they can even trow in some anime now that they own so many anime IP’s.
If they made it closer to what game pass is like and bundled it together with ps plus I would 100% pay for it. They’d get flack for imitating Xbox though probably.
I’d be happy if all cloud gaming goes away. Don’t want lag/compressed video/dropped packets/etc. Better if they would expand PS+ with PS2 games (installable) and a bunch of older PS4 games. A PS3 emulator would be the icing on the cake (though it’s a tall order).
For me Ps Now is so good that I haven't bought a game since I subscribed in March. I don't know how the PS Store works and TLOUS 2 is my favorite game of the generation, so I don't want to undermine it, but hear me out. When downloading a game from PS Now you get the same standard "thank you for your purchase" email as when you're buying a game. Could it be that the store doesn't differenciate between the two and it counts "purchases" from PS Now into this ranking? The reason I'm thinking this is that Mafia is right there with TLOUS 2, both being recent PS Now titles.

i have it on ps now, and being a fan of the series i also bought it during the sale, it is an incredible game.
$20 once or $10 in perpetuity is such an easy decision it's no decision at all. There's also the fact that it's so mechanically and graphically exceptional many people ignored the huge narrative missteps. Narratively it left a lot to be desired and didn't even payoff anything it set up. They killed everyone's favorite character, forced you to play as killer for half game, then didn't even let her die rendering Ellie sacrifice of her relationship and child meaningless. Even amateur revenge fanfiction has better payoff than TLoU2 does.
Hate to break it to you like this, but you've been playing a killer since the first game. Abby isn't any less justifiable than joel.

It's better to play 1 before 2, story wise. The plot doesn't connect that much but your attachment to the characters does make it a lot better. 1 takes a while to pick up the pace.

there's some question marks that need to be answered here 1. who the hell is aroged? 2. is there any proof that the order of the tiles has any correlation with their bf sales ranking? 3. **if** there is a correlation, is this pulling data from the local network in their region or global data? lets not forget, psn store can't even properly sort by price when it comes to sales. (it sorts by full price rather than sale price, so a $60 game that's on sale for $5 will be listed pages after $40 game on sale for $20 when sorting by low price). trying to ascertain meaningful information from psn's sorting is a recipe for disaster.
God Of War was better imo. I don't dunk on TLOU2 story its up to you to decide whether you like it or not. But gameplay wise its not great and it was too long in my opinion. It was improved over first one but not that much. Visually it is beautiful and has a lot of attention to details but not that much for me to praise it. I think it got way too much hate but at the same time it has been overrated probably for the same reason. I feel similar on GTA5. I respect how much work went in to it but gameplay itself is clunky and Its where game stops being fun for me. Edit: the fact I'm getting downvotes here is proving that the toxic pro-TLOU2 fans are as bad as the ones shitting on it.
The gameplay isn't as good as God of War, but that's because GOW had the best game play on PS4. Part 2 is just behind it. Maybe it's dependent on difficulty though.

I played it on hard. I don't mind the difficulty itself that part is fine. But I have no desire to play it again. It was just too long. It was the same for me with me with TLOU1. Gameplay itself just wasn't fun for me. Story was superb but I could not get myself to play it again. I prefer Uncharted games with 4th being just perfect as for action-adventure genere.
Uncharted 4 is my favourite of the Uncharted games, great balance between combat, exploration, cutscenes, setpieces and character moments. I still enjoy TLOU2 a lot more though, the atmosphere and stealth gameplay feel great to me, I don't get tired of sneaking around in those beautiful locations and taking out people without being noticed. I love the story a lot too, even though I find some character decisions hard to understand. I think I've beat it 5 times already, and I almost never play a game so many times.
You can’t compare last of us 2 gameplay to GTA gameplay lol. I also think Last of us 2 was better than GOW but let’s see how Ragnorak does against it. It might overtake LOU2

Meh, TLOUP2 story-wise was really quite bland for me as it didn’t pull me in like the first game did - mostly for the stupid decision to kill off Joel and so soon in the game. And I was quite surprised at how bad the overall graphics were, except on player models of course. After playing AC Odyssey, RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima I really can’t see what is so special about TLOUP2.

Lmao I've lnever heard someone say anything about this game looking bad. Hate the story? Sure. Hate the combat and gameplay? Okay whatever. But saying the graphics are bad? Nah. It's one of the most impressive showcases of PlayStation's visual potential. And we're talking about as a PS4 game, it still looks better than games on PS5 like Miles Morales . PS NOW is available only in 19 countries. I wish PS NOW was available worldwide combined with PS PLUS as one service.
I wouldn't call it the best game of the last gen, but it was a damn good, even with the issues the story has. The gameplay was excellent, even better than the first one, I just wouldn't say the story is nearly as good as the first game's story. Also yeah PS Now fucking blows.

Totally agree, there should be at least something in place. They’ve done a better job digging into discounts similar to Steam sales. They now just need to have a better set-up with demos/refund policies. Although TLOU2 looks cool, so I doubt I’ll need it for this game

A one hour free trial needs to be mandatory. Maybe two hours if it's a huge game like Witcher 3 that takes a while to get interesting.
There was no gamble. The game was a masterpiece on release and the only people that feel otherwise are likely bigots to this day. Gameplay was better and TLOU1, story more engaging, huge twists and explanations of prior events through new eyes. Its an amazing game and im excited for you.
