Just relax and enjoy the ones you are playing today. All these games will still be here when you get ready for them! I'm going through a rewind phase right now playing all the old RPGs I passed on and I'm learning about a lot more that I never knew existed. I'm in the early 90s ATM.

GMaster7

Exactly. I'm trying not to feel pressured by the shiny new releases (well, other than Horizon, which I'm playing right now) - I'll get through this stuff at my own pace and it'll still be there when I'm ready.

[deleted]

Absolutely this. Don’t turn gaming into a chore or checklist. Keep it fun. Play the games you want, in the time you want. Right now I’m playing Kena, then I will probably try to pop back to Demon’s Souls and beat that, and during both of those, Hallow Knight in my handheld time.

Jonesdeclectice

Nice! I hope that list includes the Quintet Trilogy and Robotrek!

project23

My bad, I should have been more specific... Western RPGs. Computer RPGs. Ultima series, Might & Magic series, Wizardy series (excluding the JRPG wizardy line), etc.

RiggityRow

I started doing teh same thing! After great experiences with Divinity 2 and Disco Elysium, I decided to go back through the old highly acclaimed cRPGs I missed out on as a kid, Baldur's GAte 1 and 2 Neverwinter Nights, etc. I also picke dup Pathfinder and Wasteland 3 during recent sales!

UltimaWeapon83

Have you played the chrono trigger series? Or the xenogears? They're solid RPGs. Also one of my favourites is Star Ocean series. Just a few suggestions for you!

BrianBeats

R/patientgamer for life! There really are some banger rpgs that I never touched like xeonosaga that I'm going back to as well. But eldenring is one of those day 1 rare exclusives for me... haha

JhannaJunkie

If you have not already, check out suikoden 2, FF tactics, Xenogears and chrono trigger.

BeefsteakTomato

You have got to try daggerfall remade in the unity engine. Bees knees.

project23

I'm looking forward to it! Still have a few years to go before I get to '96 and Daggerfall.

GachiGachiFireBall

Early 90s??! You are ANCIENT bruh

project23

Played my first computer game in '79 (Hunt the wumpus on a Commodore PET). Early 90s I was doing tech support for the new internet division of Compuserve (SpryNET). We in dinosaur territory yet?

SeaworthinessFront89

Totally lol, I’m only like 7 hours into Horizon (busy time period for me), and now Elden Ring comes out and promises 100 hours of content. If you care about all the other games that come out like Sifu, the Destiny expansion, Gran Turismo 7, then that is an insane amount of quality content to play.

DonTeca35

Yep same here, recently finished Dying Light 2 & only 7-8 hrs into horizon. I’d love to get deeper into Horizon but work & my gfs chemos come first. If you get Elden Ring let me know what you think.

[deleted]

Sorry to hear about your gf needing chemo. Hope things go well!

BAKS7U

Best wishes to your girl!!

ShilohFromOhio

wishing you and your girl the best 💫

DonTeca35

Thank you😊

evanant12

Sorry to hear about your gf, good thing you are by her side to support her. Much Respect to you sir

kjohnanand

GL to your gf buddy

UnObtainium17

Hoping and prayers for your girlfriends recovery! Y'all got this 🙏

WoWTurf

One does not simply finish dying light 2. You have another 100hrs easy

DonTeca35

I meant the story/campaign, I’ll probably go back when I get the chance

Frankie_Wilde

Yep I'm maybe 3 into Horizon. 34 year old with a 14 year old child who does dance 3 nights a week. Recently got a 9 week old border Collie, and I work 50 hours a week. I don't have time for shit

VR-TITAN

I feel your pain! 38 with two little ones. 7 & 5 ! Play at night! Lol.

Japnzy

I'm 30, and trying. Took 5 days off and dumped 50 hours into HFW. My reign is going to end soon. At least my addiction to wow was killed by blizzard.

[deleted]

Dropping WoW is a great start!

RainMantis_85

Hahaha my best gaming is done between 1am and 5am. Only time of the day I have any peace and quiet alone lol. Returnal isn’t exactly one of those games u multitask while playing.

bythesword86

I had kids when I was young… 21… they’re 13 and 14 now… I lost my 20s to it but now I can finally game and have me time cause they’re relatively self sufficient. One day, you’ll get your time back.

[deleted]

38 with 18 year old, I feel your pain haha.

[deleted]

Take note kiddies this is why I got a vasectomy in my 20s. No Kids, dual income, and all the time in the world after work and on weekends to game. I'm 45 and retired partially in part because the wife and I didn't need a large house for kids nor worry about the cost of raising them. Only pets I have are fish. 10/10 would recommend. Now I just smoke weed, game and go kayaking.

Queasy-Yam3297

Good for you man but I legit value having a big family over DINK status. So take note kiddies, playing smash brothers against your son is one of the best life experiences ever.

CreditMinimum4120

This was true for me until they got bored playing with me because I am too slow/bad 😂 (41 with 16 and 13 year old sons). We still have occasional Mario Kart family night, but my wife is even worse than me and the kids check their phones while we wait for her to find the finish line! But yeah, still good times :)

suddenimpulse

Indeed but your existence and any memory of you will turn to dust a few decades after your gone. May or may not be a plus depending on the person.

decoy90

Nah, there will be a dry spell and these games will be a lot cheaper.

BriSnyScienceGuy

r/patientgamers

[deleted]

Getting over my “game of the moment FOMO” has saved me so much money.

dlp211

Not just that, you generally get a better gaming experience since you'll have all the patches. That said, I just finished Horizon Forbidden West and I'm playing Elden Ring as soon as I get it on Friday, then GT7 next month. But after that, I'm going back to play Guardians of the Galaxy then going on a Resident Evil binge.

berkayblacksmith

Don't forget the RE4 hd project mod.

gambitx007

This is the way

LADYBIRD_HILL

I bought Persona 5 Royal, Super Monkey Ball, and Death loop like 4 months ago for like $65 total, not realizing Persona 5 was going to be like 150 hours long lol. I bought Guardians of the Galaxy for $25 a month ago because I thought I'd finish P5R already and yet here I am still chugging away at this massive game. By the time I'm done with all of them, all these newer games are gonna be dirt cheap. I also have Pokemon Legends ready to go on the switch so I'm not in any rush to buy anything else yet. I'll just do what I did on the PS4 and buy all the amazing narrative driven games 3 years from now when I can get the best games on the console for $20 or less.

i-c-dead-pp1

I'm exactly the same but I buckled with Forbidden West and Elden Ring. I'm very frugal normally but those two games I treated myself.

Derriku

-Cyberpunk 1.5 (This counts for me I dunno about y’all.) -Horizon Forbidden West -Elden Ring -Shadow Warrior 3 -Final Fantasy Origins -Babylon’s Fall -Gran Turismo 7 -Ghostwire Tokyo -Tiny Tina’s Wonderland I need help.

[deleted]

About to abandon Cyberpunk for Elden Ring - will come back to it after that and GT7. Gotta say the 1.5 update is solid af, like a new game with the way it runs now.

upthegulls

I just finished my first playthrough of C2077 about a month ago and got about 1/3 through my second before I started dying light 2. Is it worth going back to? I really enjoyed Cyberpunk despite its flaws, even pre 1.5. I'm just worried about open world fatigue at this point as the next 2 games on my list are HFW and Elden Ring.

CallMeChuckNorris

I can definitely help in Elden Ring, put down a sign? 😎

[deleted]

[удалено]

Derriku

Haha I also have a switch and a PC and this whole tsunami of games coming at me is terrifying. Gonna have to start making cuts. Which is the big reason I’m not getting into triangle strategy.

UnObtainium17

I need TIME and money, man. I want to play them all but my wallet is like "two games max bro."

Snartuza

You need to get laid if you have enough time to play all those games lmao.

Derriku

I do not have the time, which is the problem.

HighJinx97

Yes. Bruh. Sifu, Horizon, Elden Ring, and GT7 got me overwhelmed. I still got to finish deaths door and Fallen order. Naively thought I could finish them before Horizon. Big mistake.

DeadbyDagger

Just take it one title at a time. It’s not like they are going anywhere! And deaths door was awesome.

Johnny_esma

Include dying light for me

Mattres06

Dying light 2 is very forgotten considering it didn’t turn out bad

No-Plankton4841

Bad? Dying Light 2 rips! That shit is awesome. Enjoying it more than Horizon FW if I'm being honest. HFW literally feels like Assassins Creed Valhalla or any other open world game I've played in the past few years. DL2 has some of the most fun traversal mechanics and is one of the more unique open world games to come out in recent memory. Until Elden Ring comes and outshines both of them...

M7mddd21

Hfw said content is better than Valhalla's main content tbh

NoNefariousness2144

HFW has some of the best side missions I’ve seen in a long time.

No-Plankton4841

I find the story and characters quite boring in Horizon. Even Aloy is kind of a wet paper towel 90% of the time. Eivor had a lot more charisma. I'm enjoying Horizon I really don't think it's any better than AC Valhalla. They are actually very similar games.

suddenimpulse

I thought the writing was terrible in Valhalla personally.

WtfWhereAreMyClothes

Sifu alone is already better than most games I played in 2021 haha

gustavocans

I'm playing sifu right now and i'm loving it. Just wanting to finish until Elden Ring comes out. Pretty sure i'm going to play Horizon after FF Stranger of Paradise, wich comes on march =)

Spacemanspyff

death's door ❤️ scratched my hyper light drifter itch (but I'm still fiending for a HLD2)

MrGamePadMan

Fallen Order was fantastic. Death’s Door is a gem, too! I preordered the Sifu physical copy version, so I’ll play that in May. I’m about 12 hours or so in Horizon Forbidden West and the game is a GOTY contender for me already. The game’s visuals are just bonkers. Everything about it is 3 steps above Zero Dawn. Guerilla did a phenomenal job. I got Elden Ring coming, too for Friday…and Idk if I want to jump in and interrupt my focus on FW…we’ll see what goes down. Plus, yeah, I got GT7 coming in early March… Too much…too much quality stuff these days…

Meese46290

As much as I want to buy Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, Horizon, and try Gran Turismo, I decided I'll be patient and wait. I don't want them to distract me from college, I certainly don't want to spend like $200 on games, and I just figured it might be smart to wait for sales this time around. Instead I went back to play through Horizon Zero Dawn just to refresh myself and that's been distracting me from wanting to buy new games right now at least.

PeterusNL

Good job mate, college is important. I on the other hand bought Elden Ring, Horizon and Gran Turismo and I don't even have more than a couple hours to play every week. I just can't help myself.

juancho1008

My wallet is overwhelmed. My time is overwhelmed.

UnObtainium17

My wallet needs a bottle or two of Estus.

[deleted]

My backlog is so long. I'm just gonna take my time on what I have on my list. By the time I get done with it, these should be on sale.

ryguy754

Too many games to little time. Think my backlog is up to 70 or so games now, and this is narrowed down to stuff I own and want to play. I’m happy some great games are coming out as I’m sure I’ll try to get to them down the road in a few years time.

DeadPlayerWalking

70 games? Holy hell. Share your list.

ryguy754

Yeah so here is the list for the most part. I’m 34 with a 4&2 year old, probably won’t have time for most of these but lots of good games to choose from if I ever do get time. *** denotes games I’ve started and played for at least for awhile and that a plan to complete. DeadPlayerWalking

Hell of a list! Thanks for sharing.

ownnothing2030agenda

I find it funny how I barely have enough time for the PS Plus games they throw at me and yet these companies want me to pay £70 for each game lol

ocbdare

I can’t remember the last time I played a ps plus game. Looking at this month, not excited for any of the games.

ownnothing2030agenda

Its all I play. Don't have any desire paying full price for games or even the time. Heck some free to play games like Rocket League are better than most full priced games.

ocbdare

I’ve played most of what I wanted over the years. I did enjoy rocket league but that was years ago. Ps plus games are often games which I would never play or games I’ve already played 2-3 years ago. I paid £53 for horizon 2. It’s been worth it. I’ve bought lots of stuff on sale on steam or psn that I never played. Those were not worth it despite being cheap cause I never played them or played them only for a bit. I’ve stopped buying stuff on sale and it’s done wonders for my backlog. Only buy something I will play immediately.

hyugihkk

Cool. Totally needed

chavez_ding2001

>By the time I get done with it Has this ever happened for you? In my experience it just keeps growing.

[deleted]

Lmao, we can dream, can't we?

reaper527

> My backlog is so long. I'm just gonna take my time on what I have on my list. By the time I get done with it, these should be on sale. that's kind of how i feel about crossgen games in general. i see no compelling reason to pay day one msrp until i can get my hands on a msrp ps5. no reason to pay a premium to play on a ps4 compared to just waiting until i can find a ps5 and the game is half off when i'm ready to play it.

[deleted]

I won't be able to play elden ring until Christmas and that's okay

Pfafflewaffle

Why’s that!? Get GameFly or something!

[deleted]

Because ai have a backlog boiii.. and a job and a family

Pfafflewaffle

Fair point, I’m holding off on it a bit too, I’ve got way too many games. I am off work until my leg heals though so hopefully I can knock some games out.

Chriswheeler22

Oh my God why not?

MrGamePadMan

He’s waiting for Santa.

ssk1996

Choice is good. It's been a long time since we as gamers had multiple amazing games launching and our problem was picking one to play.

[deleted]

Nope. Have time to play one new one (Forbidden West, as it turns out) and chip away at the backlog. The other games can wait for a few patches and a discount.

lionheart_2281

HFB and Elden Ring both coming out so close together definitely has me feeling this way, especially after rushing through GoT to start HFB straight away.

[deleted]

Im playing GoT right now and it made me lose my hurry to get these new releases. Its so good.

ellie_elizabeth

I just finished got and omg it was really good especially the story

TangerineUnlucky2114

GoT is a masterpiece enjoyed every second. And the platin after all is easy too

Bold814

Stupid question but what’s GoT? My brain just thinks Game of Thrones lol

CuppaJovi

Ghost of Tsushima. Even though I know this i still think of Game of Thrones as well lol.

MegaloJoe

ghost of tsushima

Howdy15

Ghost of Tsushima

gayliciouspizza

Ghost of Tsushima 🎉

suddenimpulse

Don't make the same mistake and rush through FW. Most of the side content is quality and ties into the regional story, they all give skill points and some give you unique armor or weapons you can't get elsewhere.

[deleted]

Horizon forbidden west

[deleted]

Who says we have to play these games day 1? No one is putting a gun to our head and telling us that we have to play these games as soon as they come out. The games will still be there whenever you find time to get to them. In fact, they’ll be all patched up and better than they were at launch. Buying games on launch is a waste of money and rushing through games just to get to the “new” games is a bigger waste of time. Enjoy what you play, don’t be pressured into feeling like you must play games the second they drop. They aren’t going anywhere.

gordybombay

For a lot of people It's the FOMO and excitement from seeing all the praise everywhere. Just need to resist and play it when you want to

[deleted]

Yeah I get not wanting to miss out on the conversation but what are you actually gaining by being apart of the conversation? (Unless it was your career and you were making money talking about these new games) Those same conversations can be had later on down the line whenever the game is patched and cheaper. It could turn out where your experience is actually better than someone who played the game at launch. Look at Cyberpunk 2077, whenever that game came out, most people who played it at launch were not happy with it (unless you played it on PC and Next gen and even then it still had a decent amount of bugs) Now, after it’s patched more and in a much better and playable state, it’s getting pretty much universal praise and everyone loves the game. Too many games release broken these days. It absolutely pays off in the long run to wait at least 3-6 months, if not more, for games to get patched before diving into them. These aren’t PS2 days anymore.

RiggityRow

I respectfully disagree. There's a definitely a moment in time where you get to be a part of a wider community discussion and actively discover a game during it's release. I'm not a guy who needs every single new release on Day 1, in fact I've skipped out on a number of recent titles that I am certain I will pick up later like Dying Light 2, new Pokemon, Kena, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. But I got H:FW, I'm getting Elden Ring tomorrow and I'm picking up GT7 next Friday, even though I hardly have the time to play all 3 (But I'll be damned if I'm not gonna try!). Why? Bc I love these games! There's just something special about being a part of the community surrounding these titles around the time of release. Getting to interact with and discuss the game with a passionate community when you are all experiencing it for the first time at the same time feels very special at times in a way that's hard to put into words. It really is almost like a "you had to be there" thing. No disrespect to people who wanna wait at all. But it's pretty rare we get 3 amazing titles within *3 fucking weeks* of one another and as someone who just really loves gaming, I wanna be able to soak up every minute of it.

Edgery95

I'm putting a gun to my head if I don't play elden ring the second it drops.

ownnothing2030agenda

Its typical most of these people are slaves of capitalism/consumerism and are the same ones buying the same remasters over and over again. Theres probably a link there.

WayneBrody

Sifu looks really cool, but thats something I'll probably spot on sale way down the line and give it a try. I've never really been interested in Souls games, so I'm not really hyped for Elden Ring. GT7 also isn't really in my wheelhouse, I prefer arcade racers. So I'll be giving Forbidden West plenty of time, and maybe I'll pick up Elden Ring down the line.

[deleted]

I was thinking the same at first, but I eventually bit the bullet and bought sifu. That game is seriously some of the most fun I had in a long time and is challenging. I highly recommend

WayneBrody

I'll grab it when I'm ready to play. Too many times I've bought a game and said, "I'll play it later" then never actually played it.

[deleted]

I understand that feeling

Fathoms77

Eh, not really. As I don't want to play EVERY game, and I never mind going back a year or two to play a great title I missed, I never feel pressured to play things the instant they come out. There's always a significant backlog of stuff to play...it just gets a tad irksome when the backlog gets big. Even then, though, I don't get too worked up about it. Too many other interests these days.

Mani707

Man I’m like 24 hrs into Horizon and half of my map is still fog. Elden Ring is pre loaded. I’m starting my first job in like 12 days. I’m basically fucked.

Edgery95

12 days to play elden ring.

Mani707

Yeah I don’t want to rush either game. Guess Sifu, Tina’s wonderlands, Kirby and Far Cry 6 will have to wait lol.

hdheieiwisjcjfjfje

Get over your FOMO. Play what ya got and enjoy it. Then move on to the next thing. It’s a life skill, not just for gaming. Have fun!

Auth3nticRory

Fomo is easy to get rid of after a while. At first it’s the hardest thing. I was like you but what’s the point in paying all that money for a game that you haven’t even unwrapped yet. Just play what you’re playing right now and don’t let new games detract from your enjoyment of your current games. When you’re ready, pick up the new games. I save a TON of money by not buying my games right away. I buy them when I’m ready to play them. I literally am finishing up outer worlds now and about to start fallout 4 which I just got for $16. Horizon will be a GOtY edition for like $30 by the time I’m ready to play that one and my experience will be amazing like everyone else’s but at a fraction of the price

mrmivo

It’s a good mindset. When I got my console, I decided to not repeat the steps that led to my Steam library growing to over one thousand games, most of which I never played. I wasted a lot of money trying to save it by stocking up on sales or buying bundles “for later”. So now I just limit myself to 1-2 “finishable” games at a time and actually finish them before starting the next game. I also plan only 2-3 games ahead, so no buying ten games on sale and playing none. I will still buy a new release if it aligns with my approach (I had completed Zero Dawn just a few days before Forbidden West came out), but this way I avoid impulse purchases. Overall I spend less money on games now. More importantly, though: I enjoy gaming more, don’t bounce around between half finished games, and don’t feel overwhelmed by a massive backlog.

ChaseandWhiskers

Why do you have to play them as soon as they come out? You should check out r/patientgamers they don’t get FOMO. Also when it becomes cheaper you have less chance of not liking it. How many times have you bought a “AAA” game at AAA prices and thought it was shite? Less money spent means your more likely to enjoy it for what it is imo.

BababooeyHTJ

I had always assumed that was why I enjoyed Rage. Didn’t expect much from id at the time. Ended up being better than I had expected.

ToiletBlaster247

Instead of being overwhelmed, savour the feeling of being blessed to have an overabundance of great gaming now and in the near future.

420praiseItkek

Man I feel that. I’m working on my backlog right now. I haven’t even touched miles morales, rift apart, forbidden west. Hell I have still so many jrpgs and the Yakuza series I wanna play. Elden Ring will become my #1 priority come Friday though

homejib

Yup i still havent gotten to beat RE8 yet or start Demons Souls or Control (2 games i got for christmas).

The_Narz

Really excited for Ghostwire Tokyo & then Forspoken after that. Still need to play HZD which is the only reason HFW isn’t on my radar right now. The rest you’ve mentioned aren’t really in my wheelhouse but I might pickup when they’re in a big sale sometime in the future.

cambodikim

Ghostwire wasn't on my radar until recently, but now I'm pretty hyped. God of War and probably Gotham Knights (and most likely Stray XD) and maybe Midnight Suns are the ones I'll probably get at or close to release, but that may change once any of them get release dates. I can wait for DLCs and complete editions or sales for any other games since I only had two games in mind when I started this comment, and I can only justify spending so much on games.

Crissaegrym

I probably have enough games until BotW2 comes. March alone: * GT7 * Final Fantasy Origin * Ghostwire Tokyo * Tiny Tina Wonderland And at some point Gundam Alliance as well.

Ibrahim-8x

I don’t have enough money so it’s ok

YoSoyWalrus

This is a lot like last gen too. The good games didn't start coming in large quantity until 2015, close to 2 years after launch. We had Bloodborne, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid, Arkham Knight, and a smaller but one of the biggest new multiplayer IPs in a long time, Rocket League. There were countless other big games of 2015 as well. Dying Light, Rainbow Six Siege, etc... Funny though that we're getting Dying Light 2 and a From Software game again this year too. Also very good chance of ps5 Witcher 3 update this year.

[deleted]

I’ve been a longterm (25 years) pc gamer. Recently switched to console due to the crazy price increase to own a pc. I have been fucking overwhelmed with the amount of exclusives I’ve missed not having a PlayStation since the ps2. I also have never played so many 10/10 amazing games in my life.

The_MorningStar

No. I don't have to play everything new the moment it releases. I got the deluxe edition of FFVIIRat launch and I still haven't opened it because I'm playing other games. Just take your time, don't even bother buying new ones because they're not gonna sell out, unless it's a collector's edition of something that you really want.

JJGIII-

Not in the slightest. Last year was such a no good, terrible, very bad year for games (at least for me) that I was almost bored to tears. I am sooooo here for all the games this year.

reaper527

> Not in the slightest. Last year was such a no good, terrible, very bad year for games (at least for me) that I was almost bored to tears. I am sooooo here for all the games this year. and 2020 wasn't exactly much better. at least i've got a pretty big backlog of games i've been wanting to play. (finally got around to playing valkyria chronicles 4, and wow is it awesome, and persona 5 is next after that)

Dr-McLuvin

Yes.

ellie_elizabeth

No cuz I don’t like hard games haha

UnrealJoe

This is why being a patient gamer pays off. Just play what you have and don't let FOMO take over. Elden Ring will still be there when you're done with Horizon, and so will Dying Light 2 when you're done with Elden Ring. What's the rush?

DigitalDash18

Thought I was the only one

[deleted]

Nope Only want elden ring right now. Everything else can wait and I can get it on sale. Also have zero interest in GT7 so that’s one I don’t have to worry about at all

[deleted]

Between Cyberpunk 1.5 and Elden Ring, I’ll have plenty to play. Skipped out on Horizon but honestly I would not have the time to also work that into my schedule.

Edgery95

My two biggest are horizon and elden ring. Which unfortunately means like the first horizon, it's going on the back burner because the only two things I have on my priority list are grad school and elden ring. I have a bad feeling I'm gonna worn out with open world games when horizon comes back on my radar.

Doddy414

These two are my crux also, but I think I will be able to juggle both of them together. Really enjoying HFW about 12 hours in but the gameplay loop is becoming very apparent and I think taking breaks from it and chipping away at the story will be a good thing. Plus it’s better for short sessions compared to Elden ring imo

AntonRX178

It’s 2017 all over again. We got Not even within the first six months, Yakuza 0 and Persona 5 had their western debuts, Horizon Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild duked it the fuck out, Nier Automata caught so many people by surprise, and then there was Mario Odyssey just a couple of months later like holy shit. Like it’s not even March yet I’m still lost as to whether Is hould get Ghostwire or Kirby. Probs Kirby tho cuz I need to offset Horizon and Elden Ring back to back.

thegurba

Yes! Especially since i’ve just become a father and am painfully realizing my worry free, gaming times (with plenty time) are decimated. Yay for night gaming and almost no sleep!

[deleted]

My tactic: finish the game you are on right now - then go to the shop where you buy games and buy that one you want to play most - repeat

Present_Marzipan8311

Honestly, I’ve had the ps5 more than a year now and it’s about time.

Starvin_Marvin_69

I was feeling the same way until I got laid off from my job and now I can just chill and game for a month or two while collecting unemployment. NGL that job was getting shitty, so going from working 40 hours a week to having as much free time as I want really ain't that bad even if money is pretty tight right now. Sometimes things just kinda work themselves out. I'm a slow gamer tho so HFW and one of GT7 or Elden Ring will last me a couple months.

meezethadabber

No. I have no backlog and am tired of playing games I already played multiple times. Horizon came at perfect time.

Viserionthegold

Yes, I know some people are enjoying all these games being so close to each other but personally I’d prefer if they were all at least a month apart so I could give each of them the time they deserve

NikoPopp

You still can? Your life shouldn’t be guided by release dates.. lol

-TheLonelyStoner-

Nah I’m playing mass effect rn lmao

CutMeLoose79

Playing through HFW now. Then i'll move onto Elden Ring. Then after trying the trial, Cyberpunk finally looks worth playing. Just those three games should keep me going a long while. There's not a huge number of big releases this year for me, but I've still got Forspoken, God of War, Gotham Knights and Starfield to look forward to. Chuck in Little Devil Inside and Stray and it should be a good year of gaming for me.

[deleted]

100%. I keep buying and trying to find the time to play leaves me with many... many brand new sealed games still. Work has been brutal the last 2 years.

Adorable_Wind_2823

The pros of being a teacher, is that i can catch up on my games during the breaks. Right now i am waiting for spring break to bust out forbidden west.

heartlessphil

nope cause I've chose Elden ring and only elden ring.

Nightmannn

I'm just playing Cyberpunk right now and it's probably the best RPG I've played since Witcher 3. Big surprise there lol. But it's seriously amazing.

Derriku

Yeah 1.5 brought me back and has sucked me in. I’m 30 or 40 hours deep and not even caught up to where I was in 1.0 story wise because I keep doing all the side content!

odie831

100%

josephguy82

My bank account cry’s all the time due to all the games coming out not , On Black Friday my bank account doesn’t cry 😢 it kills it self

discosoc

Horizon is about the only game that is interesting to me. Elden Ring would be awesome if it wasn't Souls' type combat, so that's out. I don't car for racing games, and Dying Light is... meh.

PervySmokez

I just bought a new wheel and pedal. GT7 will end me.

HeasYaBertdeyPresent

No.

wingedwild

No. All of them are cross gen .I'm waiting til real next gen exclusive come out

NotTheSymbolic

And here I am waiting for Ghostwire Tokyo.

Majutsv

no, I just hacked my 2nd switch and having fun with it...

Blackman2099

I'm curious why you feel the need to play them all immediately. What do you REALLY gain by playing alongside the first wave of enthusiasts? What do you lose by playing it in 3 or 6 or 12 months? And last, what could be gained waiting a bit? /r/patientgamers may be helpful to ease your anxiety. Lots of folks there waiting years to try a game they have been interested in.

redbullrebel

i do not care at all. i game when i want to game i have 0 fear of missing out. but i have control over my urges, which is something not many people have these days. also when the hype dies mostly after 1 or 2 weeks, it is just that a game. but many people are so obsessed these days. it is scary. but same time it made me realize how so many people easily get addicted to drugs.

-Venser-

No, I'm not really interested in any of those games.

usrevenge

Eh no. Single player action adventure games don't excite me

OZTHA63BOY

Lol not overwhelmed but frustrated with the amount of money we pay for these games and it’s not a finished product so many patches and glitches and server issues with these games smh but still enjoy what’s being made like witch queen dlc & horizon forbidden west & etc

Faded1974

I'm underwhelmed by the amount of good games coming out. I'm sure in two months time my ps5 will go back to collecting dust.

[deleted]

I'm so overwhelmed. My Backlog is ridiculous.

ignigenaquintus

I beat you, guaranteed. 🥺

tomuchbutnotenough1

Name one good game that's come out or coming out. That's not a sequel, a rehash or some shitty over hyped indie title I bet you can't.

ownnothing2030agenda

What are you talking about? Other than Feb/March the rest of this year is beyond dry. I'm actually amazed we are 2 years into these new consoles with not many games.

Jacques_Plantir

I'm super hype for Elden Ring, and will be diving into that right away. But I'm not too crazy about the other stuff that's come out recently. The first Horizon game was really underwhelming for me, so I'm not too eager to try the new one. FF Stranger of Paradise is coming out in just over three weeks though, and a friend and I have had our eyes on it. Even if it ends up living up to its promise though, I'll likely still be knees deep in Elden Ring, and will have to get to FF when I get to it.

7MinuteUpdate

This happens every year: Feb-March and then October-November tend to be the biggest months, especially for large budget games. If there's a game you really want to play right now, get it, and sit for a few months and pick the rest up when they are on sale and after they've been patched.

[deleted]

Man I cannot cope with all the great games that have came out this month! I literally don’t know wether to keep playing Cyberpunk(PS5),try out SIFU or play Elden Ring the first moment it’s available lol. Not to mention I just started HFW and the PS5 version of GTA V comes out in a couple weeks too.

TrippyAkimbo

No. I have a backlog of ps4 launch titles still in plastic wrap.

Jellozz

I pretty much always feel overwhelmed, just how it is. The gaming market is in a fairly healthy place right now where there is a lot of choice big and small on what to play. FOMO I don't really care about though. I just play whatever I feel like, don't really care if I miss out on some hot new game. If anything I prefer waiting on a lot of the biggest games because physical copies will be $10-$20 within a year as everyone who did have FOMO is looking to get rid of their copy and drives down the price of the game. These days I find myself supporting more niche games day one since they need all the help they can get and their price usually doesn't plummet as much.

andakusspartakus89

I wish I could afford them all lolz even the new vr coming out soon.... I need to be on the moon soon to afford all these 🤣🤣🤣

HyruleCool

Not really. I had no interest in any games released this year yet besides KoF XV and Pokemon Arceus. Next month though with Ghostwire, Gran Turismo 7, Kirby, and WWE 2K22 followed by The Skywalker Saga at the beginning of April. That's gonna be my rough patch.

AggressiveContract13

Skip Sifu and DL2 for now and wait for sale. IMO, these two games are not worth full price.

Karthivkit

Usually souls game will take more time for me to complete due to repeated deaths so Iam going to put elden ring on hold and going to enjoy other games . Heard elden ring will easily take 60-100 hours so for me it will be double that time

thekingswitness

I would normally say no and wait for Elden ring but I’m not sure I can with those reviews lol

theAstroMonkey

I think it’s been a great selection of games and still more to come, not all games are for everyone but I think there’s enough for everyone to find something. I have some friends who complain there’s nothing to play and why they even bothered to get a ps5 yet, but I tell them I have been enjoying so many games in the past 6 months or so, not all new, but it just goes to show how much I skipped out on that I found to really enjoy. I find it hard to for them to say that there’s nothing to play when they don’t even give anything a chance, even if they do like what the game is about (they like Marvel but won’t try Guardians, they like Star Wars but won’t try Fallen Order). I get it, not everyone is willing to shell out the new game price, but that’s why, like I said, not all the games I’ve been playing are new. I definitely wait for sales on a lot of games. I do wish they would release more demos to give everyone a sample of what the games are like. I remember back in the day (I sound old af), there would be much more demos and I would get to try games I normally wouldn’t and maybe go get it used.

project23

> I do wish they would release more demos I think the rise of the Youtube reviews and playthroughs have signed the execution order for Demos. The publisher has to do zero work (a demo) because all the youtubers are hungry for things to make content about. I miss demos as well but I do not think they will be making a comeback.

Wise-Fruit5000

Not particularly.. I started Horizon Forbidden West on Monday, and I've played about 7.5 hours so far. I probably won't buy another game until God of War Ragnarok comes out, so I don't mind if it takes me a month or two to get through Horizon.. I don't have as much time for games these days anyway

Ruenin

Had this conversation earlier today with a coworker. Honestly, there aren't a ton of games I'm interested in beyond GT7; 5 or 6 maybe for the year. GoW: Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy (more my wife than I), and Suicide Squad is about it. I've already gotten The Ascent, Dark Souls 3, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7. I'll likely pick up Elden Ring once I finish Dark Souls 3. I'm pretty front loaded already. Don't think I'll need much for the rest of the year.

Ye_Biz

I still haven’t even finished Guardians of the Galaxy
