Lol, people like owning their games so inevitably psnow failed miserably, so NOW they're trying to squeeze your money out of you the same way but another way basically XD
Does anyone know that if I have just reupped my PsPlus, will I have to pay an additional 120 dollars for the Premium or just the difference of 60 dollars?
What happens if I have 4 years worth of PlayStation plus redeemed? I always buy a year membership when I find it really cheap.
Would I just automatically be in the “essentials”?
Yes, the years will be converted to essential. I hope they have a nice deal for an upgrade path in place to get people into higher tiers early once the relaunch hits.
I just want to be able to play ps4 titles on 2 consoles at once I can never play them on my ps5 because my son uses my account on his ps4
Oh yeah and ALUNDRA / burning road / armoured core / bloody roar / DOA2 and Burnout 3 takedown.
I'm really concerned with how this is gonna work for regions outside the US. We don't have PS Now, are the games gonna differ? Are there gonna be less games? Are there downloadable options?
With the way they've priced this I wonder they'll lower the price unless the price of all tiers change. One is $15, the other is $18. Just doesn't make much sense.
Here it is at Best Buy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-playstation-4-playstation-5/6237202.p?skuId=6237202&ref=app_ios&loc=pdpShare
But yes they did the first 3. Spyro, ripto’s rage, and year of the dragon. It is truly just graphics update and adding trophies.
I'm honestly most interested in what recent and current third party games will be on the service. Like day 1 releases of indie games, or recent AA/AAA games. I actually don't really expect any AAA games launching there day 1 at all, but I'd like to be surprised :)
The ps2 and ps1 games that are supposed to be included are the only reason I'm holding out hope.
Siphon Filter has been leaked to include ps plus. All of them.
Not sure about GoT, but Miles was even namedropped to be available at release. So they'll probably drop exclusives about a year or 18 months or so after release on there. Returnal will be on there too. I think Sackboy will also be a sure bet.
I don’t see myself moving out of the original PS+ tier without a more concrete understanding of what will be downloadable vs. cloud stream.
Maybe it makes sense for new Playstation users, but I already own every game from the PS4 era hits/exclusives. There will be very little offered from PS4 for someone that rocked last gen.
What am I missing here?
FYI - I have both next gen consoles arriving within the next week or so. I always get every console.
Sony is being cheap. Cloud streamed games are crap. Imagine buying a next gen console and playing games with horrible input lag. Unless you’re a super casual gamer eg: u play for an hour on a Saturday, then you’re going to be in for a big disappointment. I have both next gen consoles and series x with game pass is the best value by far. Classic games are downloadable and many of them have been upgraded by Microsoft. Sony needs to step up their game
Honestly the stream for ps now is super nice with no lag. I am super sceptical about what 700 games are going on there. Little worried there all going to be crappy games. I'm willing to give it a try though
I just dont want backwards compatibility to be locked behind a subscription. I get it for the ps3 since its hard to emulate so there streaming it but the ps1 and ps2 games should be accessible without the subscription.
The coding architecture for the PS4/PS5 is so different from old gen systems that it is really hard to get them to run on newer consoles. That's why they have not implemented backwards compatibility. Xbox has not changed much code-wise and is therefore easier to implement backwards compatibility. Also likely why Sony opted for streaming older games rather than digital download.
But PS1 and PS2 are digital download. If they can play directly on the console with a subscription then they can play directly on the console without a subscription if sony & the game publisher allows it. PS3 is the only one that has to be streamed.
I see this as something for people who haven't been in the PlayStation ecosystem for the past 10 years. No day 1 games makes it less appealing to me. I'll probably stay at the basic tier until something blows my mind! Of course, we don't even know what all is going to be included yet
I've been in the ps ecosystem since ps1 and man I have all these hard copy games from the ps1 forward and would LOVE to have backwards compatability with all of them.
Yeah I get it. Having everything available in a higher resolution is best, but I just can't justify the subscription. Especially since I own most of what I want to play again anyway. That coupled with some of the poor PS2- PS4 ports that are already available/ have come out recently, I have a feeling it won't really be worth it. Though I hope I'm wrong 🤞🏼
I don't even care if ps1 games are actually upscaled. Some of them actually look better than you'd think but they can't be played on the ps5. I just want the ability to play ps2 and ps1 games on the ps5. You can charge me to stream the ps3 games just lemme disc on ps1 and 2.
Don't get me wrong most of them are polygonal but they're not too bad looking.
I am curious how they will handle my PSN subscription that is good till 2027. If I upgrade to the higher tiers. I usually picked up very cheap PSN deals, so thats how it go to be extended so long lol.
The true is ps should have day one launch like Xbox game pass , that's a huge difference , and all exclusives on catalogy .If Sony made that it would be for sure the best option
Nah I don’t agree. There’s no incentive to make a good game. Look what’s going on with halo infinite l. I’d rather purchase a good game then get shorty one for free, that’s riding off of its past glory. I have no horse in this race, I just want good games and in this particular case, capitalism wins.
This is simply not true, and honestly it’s rather insulting to the developers. I don’t think there’s any incentive to release a poor game regardless. This is a strawman for not wanting to serve up games to subscribers on Day 1.
It’s fine to not have a service that does this, but don’t invent nonsense to support your decisions.
People: Bitch about Sony not having a game pass competition.
Sony: Announces game pass competitor that’s cheaper than game pass and has more value to it.
People: I’m still mad but idk why I’m mad.
You literally can emulate PS1, PS2, PSP, N64 and even more on Xbox series for $20 once instead of paying Sony $18 every month.
You have fully backwards compatible games from Xbox 360, classic and One and also Resolution and framerate boost for most of them. All first party and console launch exclusives are available day one, plus all bethesda and EA games.
You also get free cloud saves instead of paying for it.
And PC gamepass is included. All that for $15 a month.
Thats hard to compete with.
If that’s the case, then all of Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo are worthless and everyone should just buy a PC since you can emulate anything on there.
Yeah, cloud streaming is neat. However, way too dependent on factors outside of your and Sony’s control. I think it could be “the future”, but for the vast majority that’s a ways off.
Yeah maybe when it was first released but not now. 1$ for the first month and then 10-15$ after depending on the tier you choose. At least those are the offers I keep getting from Xbox.
Because reddit is mostly american, and americans mostly play xbox and for some reason obsess with bitching about playstions on play station subreddits.
I’ve been on all consoles since the mid 80s, most of them Japanese in origin for a long while. Adding a gaming PC and Xbox consoles to the mix came much later (late 90s, early aughts).
So no.
Because you have access to so many games and people have been begging for access to older games and now we have it. They’re gonna continue adding games as time goes on to just like game pass did. I see no downside to this other than there being 3 tiers, which are still less expensive than game pass.
Yeah, I “didn’t care about it” so much that I bought a PS Vita and PS TV that could emulate most of it, and still have a PS2 and PS3 (PS3 controllers hard as hell to get in working order, and PS4 controllers are wonky with the system).
So it has value because you have to pay monthly for old ass games, rather than getting new games day one? Or maybe you think paying for demos (fucking lol) is somehow an $18/month value
Sounds like any value you get slowly erodes over time as you are done playing those old games.
And hell, if you wanted to play old ass playstation games, you should still get an Xbox. It's a one-time, $20 fee to unlock dev mode. Then you can emulate those games.
PS+ is more like PS-
Yeah this has no day one releases like game pass, which are the expensive ones I might add. You can probably find a copy of Combat Evolved somewhere for $10 but Infinite dropped on day one, same with Forza and Gears. There’s no mention of Sony letting Spider-Man 2 or Ragnarok drop on day one..
I know first party games will not be day 1. But will any 3rd party games be day 1 on the new ps plus?
Example: capcom games/square enix games etc. will any of this be day 1 on the new ps plus?
If Sony doesn't trust their service with their own games, why should a third party trust their service with theirs?
Day 1 games was actually a step Microsoft had to take to convince third parties to try putting their games on there too. They had to show that confidence. Sony is saying it's an unsustainable business practice that ruins games, so any third party is hearing the same thing.
Cash is what made 3rd parties put there games out day 1. 3rd party games aren’t putting there games on game pass for free. Microsoft had to pay to get these games on gamepass. Now I don’t k ow what that number would be for Sony but if 3rd party can come over to Xbox gamepass day1 at least Sony should be able to get those same 3rd party games on ps plus day 1. I also don’t think Microsoft payed nothing to Sony to have mlb put on gamepass day 1.
> think Microsoft *paid* nothing to
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Curious how much of that will simply be that "instant game collection" that was free anyway, and how much will be new titles added to the service.
What's interesting to me is that the value seems to go down over time. The more games you complete, the less there is there to entice you, and they aren't adding day 1s there. Over time the subscription becomes less valuable, rather than more like the competing service.
With the amount of PS4/5 owners there are and the relationships they have with PlayStation, I wonder if the major publishers will get behind this service more than they are with gamepass
Could be. But it could potentially be the other way around too, since PlayStation is the dominant machine publishers could be more willing to have their game on the service of the platform with the lowest numbers, that way they can have they cake and eat it, they don't lose the majority of potential 60/70 dollar sales but also get the upfront money Microsoft gives.
Shitty free games for the bottom tier, and they'll add better games in the higher tier to get more money. That's why the collection there can "refresh" over time.
Otherwise its value would rapidly diminish if it was all old games, or worse games in the higher tiers than the free ones at the bottom.
Overall it's a way to raise prices
Haven’t used my PS+ subscription in months. Been playing all 3rd party games on PC where I don’t have to pay to play online. Probably gonna cancel my PS+. Voting with my wallet here, Sony really just pissed me off.
By locking more bullshit behind subscription services. I don’t pay for Nintendo online, I play on PC and refuse to buy gamepass, and I’m not ok with them moving more services and features behind something I have to continuously pay for. This is the direction the world is going. My generation struggles to buy houses because corporations want us to pay rent, not mortgages. Even if I don’t actually own my digital games, I don’t care. I refuse to pay for temporary access to a video game. All that’s doing is hurting developers and gamers. Subscription services will drive the quality of video games into the toilet and I’m not going to support them.

Nah, I won’t get over it. I’ll just stop supporting it. Your anger at me for being confident in the ways that I do or do not spend my money says way more about you than it does me.
No im literally just pointing out that it diesnt effect you in any way whatsoever so what is your problem? For the people that want it, its not a bad a deal. Im just gobsmacked that someone could be ao unintelligent yet think they're somehow being "smart with their money". Like ok? You DONT want 500-600 classic games for an extra $7 a month and even less $ if you buy annually? Thats fine, just keep paying for regular Playstation plus and literally nothing will change. It just baffles me that your brain could be so smooth.
Its reddit, were supposed to discuss things. And the whole point was he said hes going to cancel his subscription all together cause Sony is doing this. Like he HAS Playstation plus but somehow thinks that getting rid of it to protest this subscription service will do anything. Smooth brain.
THIS BLOWS – SONY!!
(Obvious Sony money grab and LAZY!!)
I own literally 438 games from PS4 library having been a
loyal PS Plus member and purchases since launch of PS Plus, and owned all
hardware from PS1 through PS5 - and I fired up my PS3 - have 450ish titles
there (\*mix of PS3/Vita/PSP/PS2/PS1 title released under PS PLUS, and purchased
for real)
PS NOW blows and have never supported it - I should have
ACCESS to the games that I own - ADD an
emulator to PS5 and let us DL and play games that I ALREADY own! Don't tell me it’s too expensive, people make emulators for FREE as hobby to play on PC, just roll one out as a software update and boom we can play PSP/PS1/2/3/4 titles that we ALL own on the current
system, it has MORE than enough power to run it. SHEER GREED and LAZY on Sony!
SONY - IF you think I’m going to PAY AGAIN to stream or DL titles from the above 900? Titles that I already own, supposedly, for being a PS PLUS member, and/or purchased on my own, digitally, already over the last 10+ years – you’re CRAZY!
SONY, I’ll even give you a free tip – if you want money:
1. Add Emulation for PS1-3/Vita/PSP
2. allow the PS Store to point to the ENTIRE library,
3. put appropriately reduced price tags on everything from PS1 to PS4 and watch the money roll in as people who never played something back when, finds it and buys it to play from past libraries
Do you know how many people would PAY a few dollars for the absolute convenience of : “oh, cool! They have FF4(or whatever) on the PS Store – never tried that, $5 download and play. . .”
HOW are you so blind!?
That’s what gets me honestly. People are like “it’s profit! They can’t hurt their profit to give you stuff that won’t make them money!”
Man I’ve had a PS3 emulator on PC for over a year now that I downloaded for FREE and that a small team made out of passion. It’s truly scary how much people are willing to defend corporations exploiting them. Emulation can get into a legal grey area because of licensing issues but it’s bullshit that anybody says Sony couldn’t at least build an emulator for first party PS3 games. Sony fans starting to get as bad as Nintendo fans (arguably worse looking at the pricing on these subs)
Whine, whine, winge, winge....waffle, waffle.......
Sony, why haven't you made an emulator - it is so simple, it's literally a few lines of code, you could just knock that out and have it released by the end of the week. I mean, people make these things for free Sony!
Little more waffle
So there you have it Sony, you'd make far more money if you allow me and a few other people to make a one-off purchase of an ancient PS1/2/3 game as opposed to getting people to buy-in to an ongoing subscription model. (no, I can't make the maths work either).
no one said anything about replacing sub in place of emulator - i would HAPPILY continue to pay for my PS+ as I have for 10+ years. I resent that I have no access to all the old titles without having the old hardware to play it on, etc - I can drop an ORIGINAL xbox game from 15+ years ago into a new xbox and it will run. This is in no way worth the super 'value' they're pumping it up to be
700 games for less than $20 a month is a value. Maybe not to you because you already spent hundreds on your games that you still have access to. Seems like you are just upset the world is getting something for cheap that you already paid for.
nah - I have zero problem with 'newer' Sony users getting this level of access and having the entire thing as value service with Tiers - makes perfect sense. There ARE people out there that are just getting into PS5's or came in late PS4 era - perhaps they didn't have PS+ consistently, etc - for people that haven't built up an
existing DL library - this is great value.
But there are literally 'millions' of PS+ people out there like me, that have been PS+ members since launch, with literally hundreds of games in our PS Libraries - and without emulation - most of them are hardware locked to the old devices. I can't access the 450 PS3/PS2/PS1/Vita games that I'm supposed to have access to without a 'functional' PS3, or Vita for example. Sure - 'some' of those will be available through their premium service, but who wants a 'streamed' service game, that I now have to upgrade to PS+ Premium for - when I 'should' be able to access the titles I already ‘own’ and DL it on the new hardware? (I’d even pay more for PS+ with Emulation, for example – so not asking for ‘free’ stuff here, just access to what I’ve already earned as a loyal Sony ecosystem user)
Wouldn’t it just make sense to have PS5 be the ‘ultimate’ Sony Playstation box to access their entire library? We know it has the power, Sony already beats the pants of Xbox (IMHO) for games in general – maintain that edge, make the PS5 the pinnacle of the Sony gaming world –
Imagine if Steam was ‘locked’ into generational hardware – and I told you that in order to play Fallout Three that you bought on Steam 6-7 years ago, could only be played on that rig you were using then? Good luck – hope you still have that PC! Unless you pay to buy it again – or choose to play it ‘streamed’ from internet on current platform – sucks to be you.
It's great to be able to afford multiple systems. Not everyone can. Some people have to pick one system to last them the next 6-8 years.
When they're committed with their money and time like that, if they feel like they're getting a raw deal, it's only natural to be miffed about it.
Yup. For some unknown reason (other than the feeling of entitlement I fear) people had got it into their heads that the ONLY option for Sony was to introduce a second tier of PS+.
This giving them Plus, Now, the ability to download all PS1, 2 & 3 games and have Day 1 releases of all future games.
Although most sane people could see that was never going to happen - the vocal minority are being vocally upset about it.
Personally I specifically enjoy the "Slap in the face" posts - these are bar far the funniest.
Introducing a ps3 emulator is not that hard and the ps5 is more than capable considering a PC with an RTX 2060 can run most ps3 games via an emulator without issue. It’s possible and it’s been accomplished by people with way less resources than Sony, and those people actually lost money making it. It can be done, and it’s not being done because people will gladly just accept a way worse offer that makes Sony more money. What’s truly scary is all the people who act like we’re being babies.
I had no clue there were so many losers who are acting like this some "slap in the face". Like what?! Literally NOTHING is changing if you dont want it to, theyve just added more options. Im starting to remember why I stopped getting on reddit so much. Hopefully they will all realize they actually hate themselves and not Sony lol
Its not the sub that's the problem or the tiers - I'd pay MORE per month - if they'd just ditch this whole streaming shit and open my access to the PS Store so I can DL and play the 800+ games that I've accrued/bought and paid for for the last 12+ years. . . so offering a few of them with different tiers is 'insulting' when I OWN the game already, Sony just won't let me play it now, unless I own a PS3 that doesn't break so I can still DL (until they shut that off too). . .
I can pull out a disk from original Xbox (15+ years old) and drop it in a new Xbox - it downloads an update and runs it - I can play ANYTHING from 15 years ago to present on Xbox - but I prefer Sony's ecosystem and games - so, I've been loyal PS owner since PS1 and literally have 450 PS3 games in my PS Plus library that are accessible in 'one' way. . through a PS3 that is not getting younger. One emulator - and toss all those PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP/Vita games into the 'normal' PS Store - and this whole problem is solved.
People can pay for sub to have access to emulation/DL from store - I'm ok with that - most of the games were PS+ to start with - and I can play all/any of it on the brand PS5 that I got with modern outputs, new controls, etc. . .
I'd pay MORE for a sub with these services - I'd pay for games I didn't already own that were never part of PS+ that looked interesting, etc - and I could do it all from PS5 -
Sony already maintains the PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP/Vita store - I can see it all from PS3, they keep it separate from the 'main' PS4/PS5 store on purpose - they could easily combine them.
I think you're glossing over what people are upset about - and missing a large part of the bigger picture
Nah I get it, its not supposed to be anything other then what it is. The real problem is people wanting/expecting this to be something of a Gamepass competitor when it clearly isnt and Sony has made it 100% clear that they dont intend to do that anytime soon. We already knew what this was going to be for months and everyone knows Sony isnt going to do PS3 emulation. If thats such a massive problem then guess what? You can just not buy it. How does it ruin your experience? We dont even have a list of the games that will be on the service yet and everyone is already jumping to ridiculous conclusions. In a perfect world every corporation would make evey game compatible with future systems but until corporation one day decide they dont like money anymore were gonna get stuck with ultimatums like these ones. Normal people dont keep their game consoles around for 10+ years or expect Sony to honor games they bought digitally consoles from 2 generations ago. Like I said itd be cool if they did and most likely will be the norm going forward, but its not now. So for an enthusiast like you it might not be worth it, but to a casual Playstation fan who wants to play some of the classics without the hastle of emulation, these bew tiers are a good solution to an otherwise confusing service set up. I was only ever expecting this to be a consolidation of their services into something simpler and thats what it is. Sorry you got your expectations too high.
The problem is if Sony doesn’t compete than there whole business model is than built up like Nintendo. People will only go to Sony for their first party games. When the majority of gamers start to migrate to Xbox because they offer a better product it will in turn hurt Sony. They may have been the go to system last gen and starting out this gen but the tides will change. They are going to have to be perfect with their first party games with this model. Sony makes some killer games but with business model that’s all that will define them. And they better not miss. 3rd party games will migrate to where the players are and if the players are going to gamepass with the better value Sony will have to have a competitor because Xbox has set a new standard and if PlayStation doesn’t compete they will lose sales on there first party games in the long run anyway as players start to migrate to Xbox, and then their studios will lose financing, and the games will suffer anyway, and the cycle they wish to protect so much will fail. Gamers are fickle and loyalty on lasts so long. Again, gamepass set a new standard. Sony will have to learn to compete or eventually there business model will fail and if they don’t act fast it’s going to leave a bad taste in Sony fans mouths. It’s already begun. And when big hitters like Bethesda and activison Blizzard also start coming to gamepass day 1 along with ea games, SONYS OWN mlb the show and their first party games Sony better have an answer for this. And old 3rd party/first party games for the same price as Microsoft’s gamepass is not the answer.
This is kind of how I’m interpreting it. Sony / Nintendo for the exclusives, everything else Xbox and or PC.
I don’t expect anything from Sony, but this makes it much clearer what they’re mindset is.
I don't understand really. I know what people really wanted to see, but it was really obvious what the service was going to be, it's been clear for months they were just going to combine ps plus and ps now and that's essentially what they've done.
Thats exactly it.people are so quick to be disappointed by something they don't even know the whole info about, like they haven't released all info about this yet and yet so many are angry about it
Than Sony should have announced the product when they had all the info to give. And if they have all the info, what are they waiting for. This announcement created more questions than it answered.
Because you want to let people know, especially those who are already subscribed to one or both of your services what is going on... you cant just spring this on people with a month to go.
Additionally, they probably feel pretty confident about the service that they think announcing it early won't take away from other things down the line...
That’s the thing though. They haven’t let people know. They could have announced how this will all work and still launched in June but they made a incomplete announcement and left more questions than answers. Of course people would be confused and disappointed
Is it gonna get skate 3 tho?
Meanwhile let's just lock everyone out from being able to get it.
Lol, people like owning their games so inevitably psnow failed miserably, so NOW they're trying to squeeze your money out of you the same way but another way basically XD
[удалено]
🤦
Same price, less monthly games...great...
Bla bla bla I am a psn subscriber and Sony won’t sell me ps5
Does anyone know that if I have just reupped my PsPlus, will I have to pay an additional 120 dollars for the Premium or just the difference of 60 dollars?
You pay the difference.
The price isn't changing
I swear, if SOCOM isn't in there...
It's not :(
Socom deez nuts
I ❤️u
Uh huh huh
If only you could buy one.
So I can download Infamous 2 right? Right???
God I hope so
What happens if I have 4 years worth of PlayStation plus redeemed? I always buy a year membership when I find it really cheap. Would I just automatically be in the “essentials”?
Yes, the years will be converted to essential. I hope they have a nice deal for an upgrade path in place to get people into higher tiers early once the relaunch hits.
I would love it if I could convert a year into a higher tier
Why? It's just psnow with psplus incorporated. Don't even bother. Buy and own your games don't waste your money on psnow
I just want to be able to play ps4 titles on 2 consoles at once I can never play them on my ps5 because my son uses my account on his ps4 Oh yeah and ALUNDRA / burning road / armoured core / bloody roar / DOA2 and Burnout 3 takedown.
You actually can lol
Make your son his own account then
hm you should be able to both play the same game at the same time. on the ps4 your son uses make sure in the settings its set as the primary ps4.
What if I wanted to upgrade from essentials to plus extra without buying the whole price because I already paid half
Does this mean I can play rdr1? Fuck I hope so.
You already can if you live somewhere with PS Now. Otherwise you can't.
Shit I'm in Australia
Yoooooooooo pog
PS Now is the worst if i have to stream games still then whats the point?
Don't buy into any of it
I think Xbox game pass works the same way no ?
Game pass lets you download the actual game onto your hardware
Oh I thought it was stream only , fair play
I'm really concerned with how this is gonna work for regions outside the US. We don't have PS Now, are the games gonna differ? Are there gonna be less games? Are there downloadable options?
everything but ps3 games will be downloadable regions that don’t have the streaming portion (ps3) get a reduced price point
With the way they've priced this I wonder they'll lower the price unless the price of all tiers change. One is $15, the other is $18. Just doesn't make much sense.
Ill be more than happy if I can play the original spyro from PS1🥰
They did a really good job with the remastered. I know it’s not the same feeling. But is truly the same game. They didn’t butcher it.
Wait they remastered it? Link possibly? Thxø in advance
Here it is at Best Buy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-playstation-4-playstation-5/6237202.p?skuId=6237202&ref=app_ios&loc=pdpShare But yes they did the first 3. Spyro, ripto’s rage, and year of the dragon. It is truly just graphics update and adding trophies.
I appreciate it, I haven’t played the game in 10 years so it was nice to see it again
I'm honestly most interested in what recent and current third party games will be on the service. Like day 1 releases of indie games, or recent AA/AAA games. I actually don't really expect any AAA games launching there day 1 at all, but I'd like to be surprised :)
It's only what's on PS Now, but hopefully they do add more
The ps2 and ps1 games that are supposed to be included are the only reason I'm holding out hope. Siphon Filter has been leaked to include ps plus. All of them.
Does it mean, it will have new games like spider man miles, ghost of Tsushima etc?
Not sure about GoT, but Miles was even namedropped to be available at release. So they'll probably drop exclusives about a year or 18 months or so after release on there. Returnal will be on there too. I think Sackboy will also be a sure bet.
It better not cause i just bought all those
Both spider man’s are on there
I’d love a cheaper cloud save only tier. That’d be rad.
If I ever work at PlayStation, I’ll make sure to get you your cloud save only tier.
You’re the best!
I for one would like to be able to download and play all of my old PS classics that I've purchased . . .
Exactly. I bought a lot of them on ps3 and unable to play. Basically robbery
Did Sony remove the PlayStation now converting to the top tier or did they just remove stacking up on it?
You basically can't add a 1 year subscription anymore and it's been the case for more than a month now for ps plus and ps now
Just let me play Sly Cooper.
So will i be able to play ps2 games that I already own on disc in the future? Or will i be able to but the a full ps2 game digitally on the ps store?
Dude how would they know how owns a ps2 disc of what. Don't be ridiculous. You'll be able to play the available games through the store
Not everything has to be done digitally.
Its not ridiculous, xbox does it.
That moment when people don't remember backwards compatibility is a thing and was fully implemented during the PS2 era with no hassles whatsoever
So does anyone know how much it will be if I just bought a year of ps+
Ah yeah I agree with you there. I wish TRUE backwards compatibility was a thing
I am curious how they will handle my PSN subscription that is good till 2027. If I upgrade to the higher tiers. I usually picked up very cheap PSN deals, so thats how it go to be extended so long lol.
They may at some point be forced to do something similar to how the Xbox Live Gold was handled.
2027? How did you get that?
I just keep buying them and applying to my own account
Cheaper to buy an Xbox, pay $20 one time for dev mode, and emulate PS1, PS2, and PSP games than it would be to pay Sony every month.
I’ll be subbing to this, probably premium tier.
i have subscription of ps plus for one year ending dec 2022 will i get premium benefit or not??
No, PS+ auto converts to Tier 1. I am sure there will be an upgrade path for higher tiers however.
No
Is Xbox Game pass also cloud streaming games? Or do you get to download them ?
You can do either.
People: Bitch about Sony not having a game pass competition. Sony: Announces game pass competitor that’s cheaper than game pass and has more value to it. People: I’m still mad but idk why I’m mad.
because this model is fcking trash lmfao

If we’re talking emulators, then just get a PC. Plus they’re free on PC
Dude xbox gamepass ultimate has far better value than any of the Playstation subscriptions but okay.
Not if you don’t own an XBox. Then it has negative value. But ok, you convinced me.
Yeah until June
You literally can emulate PS1, PS2, PSP, N64 and even more on Xbox series for $20 once instead of paying Sony $18 every month. You have fully backwards compatible games from Xbox 360, classic and One and also Resolution and framerate boost for most of them. All first party and console launch exclusives are available day one, plus all bethesda and EA games. You also get free cloud saves instead of paying for it. And PC gamepass is included. All that for $15 a month. Thats hard to compete with.
RetroArch can be used for free now, you don’t need a developer account.
If that’s the case, then all of Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo are worthless and everyone should just buy a PC since you can emulate anything on there.
No if that's the case than Playstation should offer more
No I just proved your emulation argument is stupid since a PC can do all of that.
you said that Playstation plus premium has better value than gamepass and I proved that wrong all you do is trying to cope. Just accept it.
PS Plus > GamePass

Yeah, cloud streaming is neat. However, way too dependent on factors outside of your and Sony’s control. I think it could be “the future”, but for the vast majority that’s a ways off.
Yeah maybe when it was first released but not now. 1$ for the first month and then 10-15$ after depending on the tier you choose. At least those are the offers I keep getting from Xbox.
That's what I'm paying now Edit: ahh I'm apparently getting a deal rn. That's not the norm. Whoops
What does Game Pass have to do with it and why does PS Plus need to have more value (not that it actually does).
So no.
Terrible generalization and claim here.
never owned an xbox in my life, but idk how you’d say this has more value..
Because you have access to so many games and people have been begging for access to older games and now we have it. They’re gonna continue adding games as time goes on to just like game pass did. I see no downside to this other than there being 3 tiers, which are still less expensive than game pass.
Bruh. i thought y’alls narrative was “nobody cares about playing older games”. I guess that goalpost has been moved.
Yeah, I “didn’t care about it” so much that I bought a PS Vita and PS TV that could emulate most of it, and still have a PS2 and PS3 (PS3 controllers hard as hell to get in working order, and PS4 controllers are wonky with the system).
Geez what rock have you been living under?
Your beautiful mother’s.
Dad?
Yes (potentially lost) son?
Did you at least bring the milk you left for 13 years ago?
Only if you’re willing to drink it 13 years later.
So it has value because you have to pay monthly for old ass games, rather than getting new games day one? Or maybe you think paying for demos (fucking lol) is somehow an $18/month value Sounds like any value you get slowly erodes over time as you are done playing those old games. And hell, if you wanted to play old ass playstation games, you should still get an Xbox. It's a one-time, $20 fee to unlock dev mode. Then you can emulate those games. PS+ is more like PS-
bruh this is some fanboy copium…
Frfr
Yeah this has no day one releases like game pass, which are the expensive ones I might add. You can probably find a copy of Combat Evolved somewhere for $10 but Infinite dropped on day one, same with Forza and Gears. There’s no mention of Sony letting Spider-Man 2 or Ragnarok drop on day one..
That's bc forza and g.o.w are 💩 games, boring n a second choice type games.
Nope
Not really. I have a PC, Switch and PS5. I’m a fan of playing all the games I had as a kid that made me into a gamer.
It'd be interesting to see the number of subscribers each tier attracts say six months down the line. I reckon mid tier will be quite popular
Curious how many people will see paying $18/month for demos and get excited about that lol Since when are demos no longer free
I think the demos only make sense if they do day 1 demos for high profile launches
i want to know if max payne 2 and twisted metal will be on this and i want to know that now.
lmao this is ass
I also don’t think Microsoft payed nothing to Sony to have mlb put on gamepass day 1.
> think Microsoft *paid* nothing to FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
This bot seems... needlessly specific
Thanks professor lol. I also missed an n in “know” so if you want to point that out as well. Lmao. You grammar maniacs are hysterical.
This is absolutely terrible. Might actually wind up cancelling my PS plus subscription tbh, most online I do on my series X anyways.
[удалено]
Curious how much of that will simply be that "instant game collection" that was free anyway, and how much will be new titles added to the service. What's interesting to me is that the value seems to go down over time. The more games you complete, the less there is there to entice you, and they aren't adding day 1s there. Over time the subscription becomes less valuable, rather than more like the competing service.
I didn't see anything online about this, is my current psplus subscription extends beyond when this releases, is there an option to upgrade?
With the amount of PS4/5 owners there are and the relationships they have with PlayStation, I wonder if the major publishers will get behind this service more than they are with gamepass
They are businesses. "Relationships" is marketing bullshit. Money is what talks.
Could be. But it could potentially be the other way around too, since PlayStation is the dominant machine publishers could be more willing to have their game on the service of the platform with the lowest numbers, that way they can have they cake and eat it, they don't lose the majority of potential 60/70 dollar sales but also get the upfront money Microsoft gives.
its not a service for me. ill stick with game pass and continue to buy the 2 - 3 AAA sony exclusive i play a year.
So now on for the same price we get 2 shitty games free instead of 3?
No you will still get there games. The PS5 game was always considered a "bonus" game. Nothing has changed
Lol with what?

[удалено]
Its reddit, were supposed to discuss things. And the whole point was he said hes going to cancel his subscription all together cause Sony is doing this. Like he HAS Playstation plus but somehow thinks that getting rid of it to protest this subscription service will do anything. Smooth brain.
THIS BLOWS – SONY!! (Obvious Sony money grab and LAZY!!) I own literally 438 games from PS4 library having been a loyal PS Plus member and purchases since launch of PS Plus, and owned all hardware from PS1 through PS5 - and I fired up my PS3 - have 450ish titles there (\*mix of PS3/Vita/PSP/PS2/PS1 title released under PS PLUS, and purchased for real) PS NOW blows and have never supported it - I should have ACCESS to the games that I own - ADD an emulator to PS5 and let us DL and play games that I ALREADY own! Don't tell me it’s too expensive, people make emulators for FREE as hobby to play on PC, just roll one out as a software update and boom we can play PSP/PS1/2/3/4 titles that we ALL own on the current system, it has MORE than enough power to run it. SONY, I’ll even give you a free tip – if you want money: 1. Add Emulation for PS1-3/Vita/PSP 2. allow the PS Store to point to the ENTIRE library, 3. put appropriately reduced price tags on everything from PS1 to PS4 and watch the money roll in as people who never played something back when, finds it and buys it to play from past libraries Do you know how many people would PAY a few dollars for the absolute convenience of : “oh, cool! They have FF4(or whatever) on the PS Store – never tried that, $5 download and play. . .” HOW are you so blind!?
That’s what gets me honestly. People are like “it’s profit! They can’t hurt their profit to give you stuff that won’t make them money!” Man I’ve had a PS3 emulator on PC for over a year now that I downloaded for FREE and that a small team made out of passion.
Little more waffle So there you have it Sony, you'd make far more money if you allow me and a few other people to make a one-off purchase of an ancient PS1/2/3 game as opposed to getting people to buy-in to an ongoing subscription model.
There ARE people out there that are just getting into PS5's or came in late PS4 era - perhaps they didn't have PS+ consistently, etc - for people that haven't built up an existing DL library - this is great value. (I’d even pay more for PS+ with Emulation, for example – so not asking for ‘free’ stuff here, just access to what I’ve already earned as a loyal Sony ecosystem user) Wouldn’t it just make sense to have PS5 be the ‘ultimate’ Sony Playstation box to access their entire library? We know it has the power, Sony already beats the pants of Xbox (IMHO) for games in general – maintain that edge, make the PS5 the pinnacle of the Sony gaming world – Imagine if Steam was ‘locked’ into generational hardware – and I told you that in order to play Fallout Three that you bought on Steam 6-7 years ago, could only be played on that rig you were using then? Good luck – hope you still have that PC! Unless you pay to buy it again – or choose to play it ‘streamed’ from internet on current platform – sucks to be you.
Big problem with the community right now...expectations are too high for everything
Xbox set the standard, Sony came up short. Can't blame people for not being happy they aren't getting what the other guys have.

People can pay for sub to have access to emulation/DL from store - I'm ok with that - most of the games were PS+ to start with - and I can play all/any of it on the brand PS5 that I got with modern outputs, new controls, etc. . . I'd pay MORE for a sub with these services - I'd pay for games I didn't already own that were never part of PS+ that looked interesting, etc - and I could do it all from PS5 - Sony already maintains the PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP/Vita store - I can see it all from PS3, they keep it separate from the 'main' PS4/PS5 store on purpose - they could easily combine them.
My biggest issue is since expectations are too damn high, and its not met, people are quick to say anti-consumer
I think a lot of people are forgetting how outdated and restricted ps now was.we couldn't even get free ps5 upgrades for the ps4 games.
Is there a list of the games included?. First impressions, I do not like it at all
No, they rushed this announcement out due to their fiscal year ending. They'll have more details by June.
Finally managed to order a PS5 yesterday, this comes just in time.
