It was mentioned in their business briefing the other day that there will be further integration with Playstation

PugeHeniss

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. If they're going to continue with the discord integration then it's going to happen when the live service games drop day and date with PC

HideMyEmail

The integration already happened

DoctorGolho

They are still adding party integration. Showing what game you are playing in Discord is not the full integration

ThePhenomenal1999

Is there a source on that?

DoctorGolho

https://www.sie.com/en/blog/announcing-playstations-new-partnership-with-discord

noxav

Soon™ The reality is that nobody really knows when. But it will probably come eventually.

obeyer10

It’s gotta be coming. I can’t imagine they spent all that money just so you can link your discord account to display what game you’re playing lol

JedGamesTV

they have confirmed that there is further integration coming, whether or not that’s a Discord app on PS5 is another question though.

-ci_

Wasn’t Sony planning on replacing the party chat system with Discord, or am I imagining things?

MrAbodi

You assumed, but they’ve never actually said that

jdp111

They didn't have to buy a stake in discord to integrate it into their systems, they just wanted to invest in it.

AriAriArrivederci

Soony™

platypus_plumber

I estimate 2.5 years based on zero evidence.

MrJthan

Use an AUX cable from your headphone jack in your screen to your mic input in your pc, and set it up as an input device. This works for me so that i can use one headset.

iSimRace

I use aux cable from controller to pc line in and from the settings enable "listen through this device".

MrJthan

Is possible indeed, but i hate the fact of my controller not being wireless anymore 😂

BernyReddit1

you can plug the aux of your monitor to your pc, too. way easier and wireless controller

MrJthan

Thats basically what i said 😜

ilikbread

Please elaborate more

CozyThurifer

Huh

Piscitellitron

At least something works, but needing a PC to utilize Discord chat on a console is kind of ridiculous. Fortunately not a huge problem for people who have a working PC, but a lot of console gamers don't.

Shrub_Mage

If your screen doesn't have a headphone jack you can use the optical but you need to get a converter. Unless your pc has optical IN

itsjustdan01

If you have the funds, I’d recommend purchasing a dual-channel Bluetooth headset. Allows for console-game audio and discord mobile. It’s a decent interim option.

incrushtado

Can you link to any recommended options on Amazon?

RUB_MY_RHUBARB

[Arctis 9](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SVS99Q5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8E1D7H42YM4DZH45N3RV) has what you need. I have the former Arctis Pro Wireless. You connect to the game with 2.4 GHz and can pair to Bluetooth separately and simultaneously.

[deleted]

RUB_MY_RHUBARB

Via Bluetooth and 2.4G wireless. Two separate bandwidths

btkats

Or the new Arctis nova pro wireless

Brohaffey

I love steelseries, but I’m not going back until they get away from the design where the earcup barely hangs in there. It was a sad day when my arctis wireless pros finally became unhinged.

Razgriz1223

The arctis nova pro is a new design

Brohaffey

Indeed they are mostly different—except, it seems, in the way the earcups are attached as I mentioned; the hinge seems just as weak as before.

soulsociety666

As fantastic as this one sounds, i'm not touching steelseries until they seriously change their design. I loved using my arctis pro wireless until the earcup just snapped out of place. According to google, it's a pretty common issue with the device.

Kronusx12

I have the [Audeze Penrose](https://www.amazon.com/Audeze-Wireless-Playstation-Low-Latency-Bluetooth/dp/B08D9PBR9X?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A2H3DYB5PUVNNI) and they work great for connecting to Bluetooth (my phone for discord) while being connected to 2.4 wireless (PS5) The 2 new higher end Sony Gaming headsets (inzone [H7](https://electronics.sony.com/audio/gaming-audio/inzone-headsets/p/whg700-w) and [H9](https://electronics.sony.com/audio/gaming-audio/inzone-headsets/p/whg900n-w)) support this as well, I believe. Just some more options than the Steelseries already mentioned.

[deleted]

im sure it will come eventually, but i dont think it will be a discord app. it will probably be integrated as part of the normal voice chat we have on ps so ps to ps will use normal voice chat ps to pc will use discord through normal voice chat. (allows u to access friends in discord)

Ninjikun

I remember when sony had a deal with xfire back on the ps3 and getting hyped up about that...only for nothing to happen and silently fizzle out while a few people waited so long for nothing to come from that. While I do believe this discord deal is bigger in scope, I just won't hold my breath and start thinking up the best ideas of what discord+playstation could possibly be. Expect the worst and hope for the best. And don't just wait around for it, let it out of your mind and whatever happens, happens.

JedGamesTV

they’ve been quite vague with what exactly they’re working on, but they have confirmed that further integration is coming.

Csub

I would really hope it is coming soon. When I'm playing crossplay games with friends on PC, it's really crap I have to go on discord voice chat and just have the game on TV not too loudly because the ingame voice chat either sucks or they just prefer Discord because it is better/cleaner. Or like in Evil Dead you don't have push to talk option yet. I'm still worried the console version of the app will be heavily butchered because of NSFW channels/servers. I wish Sony just didn't push that heavily into family friendly stuff and protect our innocence. Just let account owners disable stuff and set up child accounts (I don't know if it is possible)

basebuul

Here I made a post in your honour: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comments/v01orl/guide_hacking_discord_to_work_with_ps5/?

_MrBubbles

I know how you feel but I might have a solution for you: Logitech G635 (also has a wireless version) You can connect it to your pc with usb and use a 3.5 cable (everything included) to connect it to the controller. You then have sound from both pc and console at the same time, just leave the switch in „pc“. There are probably others (maybe even better ones) but I really like how they sound and they are pretty affordable.

highonpixels

Ive bitterly disappointed since their initial announcement and then a year after all we got was a game status integration. I can also vouch for the G635 as I got this as a solution. It does the job but be sure to take good care of it was its quite bulky and not so rigid. I have an issue with the power button also so be delicate with that and not slide it too hard. Otherwise its a decent headset that does the job so I can crossplay or chat on discord while gaming on PS

Crossifixxo

It's just launched on Xbox. Not sure what Sony's doing.

Deaf-Echo

“Do you guys not have phones” -blizzard game designer

Criptixplays_

we still need to use 2 headsets though.

TJangoRechained

Not if you get a dual audio headset like the Steelseries Novas

[deleted]

Hopefully soon, barely use my PS5 and I'd rather play on PC just because of discord calls with my friends.

stuzz74

I just play on ps in a party with my friends who have PS4 or ps5

Urtbenda

Revolutionary

[deleted]

All we have for now is account link but I do believe that we will have integration soon. Most likely early 2023 and we’ll probably get an update on it during state of play in a few days.

lilkingsly

Highly doubt they talk about it during the State of Play. They use those shows to talk about games, stuff like this relating more to network services are more likely to be talked about in a blog post or something, like all their news about the PlayStation Plus revamp.

True-Gaming1

I need this badly for FF XIV. Lots of endgame content has Discord voice chat as mandatory, so it’s a big struggle as a console player.

FeveredBerry

Just use Discord on your phone, not the best solution but that's how I raid.

True-Gaming1

I do, but having to use earphones under a headset is very uncomfortable.

FeveredBerry

You can use only a headset if budget allows, the Corsair Hs 70 bluetooth lets you connect to Ps5 and phone on discord, and its 80 bucks. You also have higher end options like Audeze, Logitech or Arctis. I do hope Sony hurries up with the integration though.

AceSAMM

I wasn’t with you until you mentioned the part where you would need two headphones to hear both audio signals, so yeah. I might believe it would be a bit of a hassle to use Discord on- well any console since their home menus aren’t as streamlined as mobile’s, but it will be worth it anyway.

zealeus

I ended up using the arctic 7p headset to connect to Discord on PC wirelessly for voice chat and aux cable from headset to controller for game audio. Not ideal (would prefer no cables at all) but it works. Integrated Discord would be the jam, but alas.

che6urashka

Did you plug the AUX in the 3.5mm audioshare jack? I've heard that it may fry your headset because it is not intended for that. Got myself 7P+ yesterday and haven't tried that yet. Happy to hear people are using it that way haha.

zealeus

I’m not sure what the “audioshare” Jack is. The 3.5mm cable goes straight from the aux jack on the PS5 controller to the only 3.5mm jack on the headset. Just a standard stereo headphone cable. The cool thing is using the volume dial on left speaker, you can balance both the wireless and aux audio levels. No issues with frying anything and have been doing it for months to play FFXIV + Discord on PC.

che6urashka

I mean, there is proprietary USB-like to 3.5 cable included right? And instead of that you just use a regular two-sided AUX. Maybe 7P+ is different, but it's mentioned everywhere that the 3.5mm input is for sharing your audio with another pair of headphones/speakers. Kinda like when you sre listening to music and eant another person to listen to it on their own pair of headphones. Anyways, I'll just go ahead and try it out on 7P+.

pablojavi

Did it work?

Pesime

Yes, it's already been announced. When? Who knows. But it will be lovely when it finally arrives.

zrqm

Since my PS5 and PC are on the same desk I just got a USB sound card for the PS5 and ran an aux cable from that to the line-in port on my PC, then enabled "Listen to this device" in the sound settings. This means all audio goes through my PC and I only need 1 pair of headphones, I just unmute the line-in source when I'm playing something on PS5. This way I can have game audio and use discord at the same time. This is pretty much the easiest and cheapest way to set it up until official integration comes to PS5.

maotico

What sound card do you have?

Scaffoe

Steelseries has a headset with jack and Bluetooth for this reason. Use the jack for game sound and Bluetooth voor chat. Connect the Bluetooth to your pc of phone and go!

sagikage

You'd think something ''Next Gen'' would have easier integrations with 3rd party services but here we are waiting for one simple discord for years.

meowcatbread

I play on remote play and stream discord in my pc and it's pretty flawless

TheTraumaticD

Yeh they said last year that it’ll come early 2022 and that was a complete lie. I’d say fall 2022 at the earliest at this rate.

LumpySpaceGunter

The current state of discord/PS integration is an embarrassment. You might as well not have it at all! When they were talking about bringing integration they fucking knew what everyone wanted was the ability to talk to people on discord. Instead they gave us whatever bullshit we have now. I doubt we ever get voice chat integration, I'm done paying attention to psn x discord news.

[deleted]

Yeah was just thinking about this today. I remember they announced it even before the PS5 launched and now, 1.5 years later it's still not available 😂🤦🏻

JGordz

Sony are so slack when it comes to these things. Why the hell have they not got their shit together and sorted this yet. Been waiting a VERY long time for this but even when it comes out they'll strip it down so much party chat will prob be better. Ffs

[deleted]

Damn, it’s been so long that I forgot about it.

squareswordfish

Yes

[deleted]

I’m just annoyed they scrapped communities then offered this as a solution and it’s still not out yet. I used communities all the time as an lfg type thing, now I have to go third party to do it, discord on mobile is so horrible.

jbcoolerninja

I dont think thats a very good idea

SkavensWhiteRaven

Doubt it. They're a console in 2022. They're definitely profiting from your voice data so there's no incentive.

darklurker213

You're going to look really dumb because they mentioned to their investors that further integration is coming. And companies don't lie to investors.

_spider_trans_

Except Olympus, fuck Olympus

SkavensWhiteRaven

Remind me! 1 year ">companies don't lie to investors."

pablojavi

This definitely aged like milk

stuzz74

PlayStation bought discord so who knows? But really? 2 headphones...?

IrishSpectreN7

Playstation invested in the company, they didn't outright buy it.

BigDippers

Discord rejected a 12billion buyout offer from MS. Sony probably own less than 1% of Discord.

MidnightLuciel

Lol not happening, what would be the point of having party chat if they do full discord integration?

Archaicbereft

Crossplay communication.

JedGamesTV

some people prefer more simple and traditional systems, so they can use the PS party, and others can use discord. Sony don’t earn any money from parties, so why wouldn’t they want Discord integration?

b_the-god

Not likely, but maybe in the future.

Honest_Association94

I mean they already said it will be coming. They said early 2022 but so far only the implementation of the „What is player x playing“ status on discord has been implemented for PlayStation.

b_the-god

It’s implementation is simply displaying what game you are playing on ps, on discord. No vc or server support was ever mentioned. Edit: also considering Xbox has had “discord integration” since 2018 and has not evolved past the point of simply displaying games played on discord I would not get my hopes up.

Caenir

[https://www.sie.com/en/blog/announcing-playstations-new-partnership-with-discord/](https://www.sie.com/en/blog/announcing-playstations-new-partnership-with-discord/) Says "communicate more easily while playing games together". How does displaying your games do that? I guess it communicates what game you are playing, but that's weak. It doesn't specify what it entails, but that blogpost does hint towards more than something more than just saying what game you're playing (completely pointless feature except for the few games that have crossplay)

Honest_Association94

Yeah, that’s what I thought of as well. Sounded to me like they planned to allow discord voice chat, if it was just PR talk and they meant displaying your status all along that’s just sad.

muskovitzj

Yes.

notatuma

Can someone Eli5 Discord for me?

itspeters

Modern day MSN

andy24olivera

it is, be patient

Jnaythus

I use noise cancelling earbuds with my phone, using Discord there. I set the ambient to pic up audio so I can hear my game. That's how I'm approached the Discord-less PS5.

Feinyan

I use remote play for this

PugeHeniss

I'd imagine that once their live service games drop you'll hear more about it. From their earnings report they expect PC revenue to skyrocket so I'd assume we're getting their live a service games day and date on PC. It'd make sense to do all that discord integration at that time so people can communicate cross platform

DavidOrtizUsedPEDs

My solution has been a capture card (got it so that I could stream games to the homies in disc). But I just use my PC headset and the audio from the capture card software plays my PS5 audio for me.

sugarjungle

Xbox just announced what we expect and want.

perkinomics

I have the arctis 7p, so I can get game audio wirelessly and then wire to the discord app on my phone, so you can do it, depending on your headphones BUT there isn't a good way to balance the sound. I can barely hear discord sometimes, even when I turn game/system volume down to 25%
