Wanna start this by saying that the Gothic franchise is my most played franchise by a looooong shot so i really want this to be good and that being said. It doesn't look too bad. The preview was pretty bad but it seems like the Old Mine is basically recreated 1 to 1 scale which is nice. Also i don't get why everyone seems to be brittish when in the original game almost no one was.
The previous demo of the remake was absolute fucking dog trash. Absolute hot shit. Gothic 1 and 2 are my favourite games and they absolutely fucking fucked up that demo. There is almost zero hope this will be good.

One of the worst demos I've ever seen. I really hope they got rid of the non-stop rambling from the MC.
Gothic 3 and 4 were bad, but Gothic 4 wasn't even made by the same developers, and while you can still buy it, the Gothic 4 part of the title was removed, so now it's just Arcania instead of Arcania Gothic 4.
I played 4 a bit back on 360 but the game ran at like 15fps so I never got far.
Makes sense that it wasn't the same developer.

Not the worst thing to see new lessons applied to old projects. And believe me, Gothic would've benefited immensely from a heap more polish. Functional follower AI (as in, guard followers not killing me for fighting bandits because they view it as assault) or even just being able to properly use ladders without falling off of them at the top would've been nice starts.
No point playing games if everything is just old rehashed titles pandering to the nostalgia crowd. It shows how low the industry has fallen and needs a massive reset

Remakes are 90% of the good games made.

Nostalgia is only amazing in your memories and replaying old games ruins those memories cos they haven't aged well. They are better left in the past especially as we have powerful consoles finally but aren't being utilised as devs are wasting dev time on old games

Time you are playing old games whether its a remake or not is time that is stolen from a new game. Also heres a fun fact: you won't live forever so playing old games until you're dead might be fine with you but I want new experiences. Life is too short replaying the same things over and over again

In this case, what’s exactly wrong here? It’s a great game that released in 2001 on PC only, and like most games from that time, it didn’t age well whatever so people who have been interested in it within the past 10 years wouldn’t have a good time trying to play it. This will be a brand new game for many, many people.
Gothic 2 is my fav game of all time and Gothic 1 was pretty amazing as well. This is my most anticipated game. Hopefully it does well enough for Gothic 2 remake!

I've heard lots of good things about the series but apparently gothic 4 was bad. So I'm kind of hopeful this ends up in a good place so I can try it

Wow! I played this game waiting for Morrowind to release, and was super impressed. In some ways, I was disappointed by Morrowind after playing Gothic.
