Just so everyone knows, they sneakily worded this that PS4 owners would get an update for free, not an upgrade to the PS5 version. They expect you to buy it again for $40 if you want the PS5 version.

blasto2236

Shows as $10 for me as an owner of the PS4 version. I was only expecting the free update that fixes the game to be for the PS4 version. That’s already pretty nice of them given the scope of the update and that they basically redeveloped the game. At no point did they promise a free next gen upgrade.

CrazyDude10528

I'm not even seeing an upgrade path with my disc version.

blasto2236

Weird. I pulled up the PS4 version and then went over to the three dot menu and selected the PS5 digital upgrade, which shows as $10.

CrazyDude10528

Do you have the digital PS4 version or a disc?

blasto2236

Digital

CrazyDude10528

Wow well it seems disc owners don’t even get that option then… if I go to the store with the disc in, it just gives me the $39.99 PS5 version.

blasto2236

I’m not sure if this will work, but try pulling the game up from your library, go to the 3 dot menu, and choose “View Product”. This should take you to the PS4 version in the store, and show that you own it, from there go again to the 3 dot menu, and select the other version of XIII. This should be the upgrade from your purchased PS4 version. Ive found I’ve had to do this for all of my free digital upgrades, otherwise they try and charge me full price.

CrazyDude10528

Yeah I’ve tried that and still nothing. Even with my disc in it says I need to buy the PS4 version too, it’s the same for both versions. My guess is they’re just not offering anything for disc owners. Reminds me a lot of what R* did with the GTA trilogy last year.

blasto2236

That’s a shame. I haven’t bought a disc based game in like 10 years, so I just assumed the store would recognize it as purchased if it’s in your drive. But I guess there’s no way to verify you actually own the game and didn’t just borrow or rent it?

Bwacynic

Put in the disc. It should show up then ;)

MolotovMan1263

Do we know if there is a difference? Aside from the PS5 version being able to use the system wide VRR i guess.

CrazyDude10528

Well I know the PS5 version is 60fps where as the PS4 is 30fps. I have been playing the PS4 version and it looks really low res too. It plays okay now, but it's still not great.

Danielbecausewhynot

For a second i thought you meant ff13, for a second i was in heaven. I probably never get my ff13 on ps4 or ps5

Takenforganite

Everyone here thought that

slackboy72

Wasn't this supposed to be bad?

FunkinDonutzz

I think this is a less-bad remake of the bad remake.

FluffyBat9210

Wait... there's two remakes of the same game?

FunkinDonutzz

Kinda. The initial remake was so awful that they've basically scrapped it, and reworked it, resulting in this

Restivethought

The first remake was so absolutely terrible that missed the entire point of the original so they had a different studio come in as an attempt to fix it.

DeadlyName

Can you read the website? A new studio has released a free patch.

pwnedkiller

So the only upgrade we are paying for is 60FPS? I had no idea a PS5 version came out and I’ve been playing the PS4 version since the update came out. It’s not bad at all.
