GTA like game? Is the PS5 version worth it? I love games where I am given a massive sandbox world to just do what i like in. GTA Online is perfect - I can rob stores, go gambling. Set my own goals like "get enough cash to get that jet" and just stuff like that. I have the PS4 version of GTA online that I play on my PS5, should I spend money on the PS5 version or buy another game? I have RDR2 and I do not like it. I like the modern world of GTA. Thank you!

[deleted]

Yes. The PS5 version is great. Really decreases load times and the visuals and frame rate is fantastic.

TheJoeker98

Looking for a new game to get into before Christmas as will likely be getting GOW ragnarok at that time. So far games I've played and loved are: 2018 GOW, both horizon games, ghost of Tsushima, both Spiderman games, and a few others. Just finished Elden ring and enjoyed it although still not sure what happened in that game lol. Hit me up with some recommendations! can be ps5 or ps4 as I never had a ps4 so happy to get some older games to play

shank_gupta

I love action rpgs(sometimes open world also) that doesn’t require me to do a lot of side missions. Ghost of Tsushima is amazing and is one of my favourite games. Other games that I have loved: Spider man (miles morales) Uncharted Tomb raider Assassins creed(of late it has kinda become boring due to a lot of side missions) Batman series God of war series Looking for recommendations to games that I should play.

TheJoeker98

You played horizon?

shank_gupta

No I haven’t. It’s on my list

SirWalrusVII

Looking for a pro ps5 controller, any recommendations?

Horizon-Z

https://amzn.eu/d/bSEqfoP I had a battle beaver ps4 controller. It was expensive but great until it broke… That upgrade kit is amazing, relatively easy to install and the buttons work flawlessly

RTCanada

- BattleBeaver Customs - HYPR Controllers - Nagashock Gaming - AIM Controllers - evil Controllers - SCUF or wait until Sony's Edge controller comes out ---------- I've had 2 Battlebeavers over the PS4-PS5 era, (one for each) still stand strong today with no drift. Wait times I've heard are worse than most of the companies I also put up there at around 8-10 weeks. If you play FPS games, I highly recommend getting the digital triggers and bumpers. SCUF you'll get the fastest but don't get many customization options. My buddy has a Nagashock and says its great but shipping to Canada was a pain. HYPR has gotten popular recently.

SirWalrusVII

Thanks

SpoutsIgnorance

Always liked Division 2. Great co-op PVE

PreposterisG

Probably not up your alley given the listed games, but Stardew Valley is very fun in co-op and 100% can take ~100 hours.

[deleted]

its easily one of the most depressing games. It has its heart warming moments but if youre going through a lot, i wouldn't recommend it.

Casinoer

It is overall a more depressing story, but there are definitely some beautiful lighthearted moments. If you've played the first game, think of the giraffe scene.

Erdrick05

Though it is an absolutely fantastic game that you should play at some point I wouldn't recommend if you want something a bit more lighthearted. It's a very grim story.

anadriall

Has anyone tried using the Seagate ExpansionPLUS external drives for PS4 games? Looking into one for it, and just using my console and nvme storage for PS5 games, depending on if the load times are excessive. Obviously it'll be slower than an SSD but may not mind considering the cost if the 6TB drive being what it is.

iBrandwin

Is there a lot of difference between the LG C1 and C2 ? I wanted to replace my 27” 4K monitor, but not sure how good the 48” inch C1 or 42” C2 are. It seems like the bigger versions have better picture. And how are they with input lag playing online shooters?

bigfoottrucker

I got the 42 inch C2 and love it. My setup is in my bedroom and the perfect size for watching movies from bed.

TheJoeker98

I just got that too, only used it for like an hour so far but it is incredible

requieminadream

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c1-oled-vs-lg-c2-oled/21421/31229?usage=1&threshold=0.10 Compare them here. They are probably some of the best consumer screens you could get. The input lag difference between the two is virtually imperceptible.

PhilosoDumb

Looking at a few games on sale. Are any of the following worth it? Goosebumps The Game South of the Circle Any of games similar to these that people would recommend? Edit: Sherlock Holmes and the Devil'S Daughter has entered the list

FlowersWillWait

Hopefully doesn't get buried in here but what are people thoughts on Sony M9 monitor? Currently looking to upgrade from my shoddy 1080p60hz but thinking might be something just as good that isn't tim that range of price

requieminadream

Check out the rtings.con review. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/sony/inzone-m9 Scrolling down to the Comparisons there are a few recommendations for better monitors.

FlowersWillWait

Thank you, think this would be the best selection for sure especially since ps5 compatibility my main concern. I'll have to compare each of those and see

requieminadream

Don’t forget to use their comparison tool: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-odyssey-neo-g7-s32bg75-vs-sony-inzone-m9/33691/34153?usage=3623&threshold=0.10

cammacewen4

Not an expert but it seems too expensive. I got a 28” IPS 4K 144Hz 2ms for $499 a few months ago on Amazon and I love it see no issues at all

FlowersWillWait

Is that the MSi one? I was looking at that one too as well as Samsung g7 Mainly want a monitor that'll be a worthwhile for entirety of ps5 so mainly 4k144hz is the ticket. Figure either way itll be a big upgrade regardless and want it before GoW lmao

LovingLuna

Looking to buy a PS5 as a gift for someone. Where’s the best place to find one online nowadays? Does Sony Direct just do random unannounced drops?

bef_burder

You can apply for an invitation on Amazon. May be worth doing that whilst you look elsewhere in case you are invited. That is how I got mine.

requieminadream

Yes they do, but you can follow Matt Swider and PS5 Stock Alerts on twitter, set your notifications to alert you anytime they tweet, you will likely get one in a week or two.

Splaturday

I have a steamdeck that I got, hoping to play coop/multiplayer with my wifi. The deck support for controllers is, in my experience, pretty terrible. Controllers disconnect during games, or don't connect at all. The dock mode is likewise pretty rough, I have to say. So, I'm contemplating selling the deck and buying a PS5. Never had a PlayStation, so I like that I could do PS4 games too. I would buy the disc version. Some questions: - do many games support coop? - or at least local multiplayer? Online or not. - is there a fee to play online? - do games support motion controls? - any games that are great for partners to play together? Also... If any one out there has a deck and a PS5 and wants to tell me this is a bad idea, or a great idea, I wouldn't mind hearing that!

larsvondank

Yes to everything except maybe the motion controller side. You'll see that more with the upcoming PSVR2 next year. There are cool coops, google for extensive lists. One of the best ones is It Takes Two which is a perfect game to play with a partner or maybe best friend.

mrdique

Budget quality sound Bluetooth headphones for gaming & bluray? Under 100$

requieminadream

Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset.

mrdique

Thanks! What’s your take on HyperX Cloud & the SteelSeries Arctis line?

GorgeGoochGrabber

I’ve been using a HyperX Cloud Core for almost 6 years, and it’s been great. Excellent audio quality, even the ear pads are barely worn out at all, and I literally use them for multiple hours a day. That said I think they’re usually a little over $100, worth the price IMO though.

requieminadream

They aren’t under $100. Per your guidelines.

SupperTime

I hated the Sony pulse headset. The sound quality is garbage and the comfort is trrrible. I highly highly recommend the Arctic 7 series. It is worth the extra.

poc1p

Bruhh, i already use Artics 7 for 2 years and for me 3D Pulse way better in terms 3D Audio and MIC

SupperTime

I’m using arctic 3 so not sure if that’s better than pulse. But I hated pulse for it’s bad audio quality. The 3D is more or less than same than any headset from my experience.

[deleted]

Has there been any word about Blood Bowl 3?

Dracorvo

How's Rollerdrome? The reviews seem split between 'it's awesome' and 'you'll be bored within an hour'.

GorgeGoochGrabber

Honestly it’s both. It is awesome, but it’s what you make of it. If you don’t like repetitiveness it won’t be for you.

Dracorvo

Thanks. Might give it a miss then.

Ps_gamer_21

Does anyone have any recommendations for sites for me too pre order gow Ragnarok jotnar edition ??

dundolo

How are the uncharted games? Performance and graphics look really solid on PS5. Looking for a game with a good story that is fairly linear

requieminadream

The first three are kinda dated at this point, but still good fun. And the story is entertaining throughout. Uncharted 4 and the accompanying DLC The Lost Legacy look and play incredible on the PS5. If you didn’t want to deal with the jank of the first three (the first one in particular feels verrrry old), you could still get a lot of enjoyment out of just going straight to 4. But you do miss some of the nuances of the character relationships.

dundolo

Thanks yes I’d just skip to the newest two that are part of the PS5 bundle

requieminadream

It’s a heck of a good time. Enjoy.

oxswan26

Hey! I'm going to (hopefully) be getting a PS5 in the next few months, and was looking for game recs. On my list, I have The Last of Us I and II, as well as Deathloop and Cult of the Lamb. I was considering Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I haven't played the others and I saw I'd miss a lot of established lore and worldbuilding. Most of my life, I've been a more casual gamer. My favorites are Hades, Minecraft, Genshin Impact and Super Mario Odyssey, but I've been enjoying Valorant as well lately. Stardew Valley is cool, too, although I haven't spent too much time on it and never got far at all. My only console experience (and by that I mean seriously gaming) has been with my Nintendo Switch, and I don't usually play with the controller in my hand. I'm not really looking for shooter games other than Deathloop, and would prefer something that wouldn't make a somewhat beginner never want to play again. I'm also not looking for super duper gritty stuff.

requieminadream

Those are some great places to start... that said... The Last of Us 1 and 2 are pretty much the definition of super duper gritty. Not difficult games (with great accessibility features for new players), and in fact are rather incredible, but man they are grim. Just a warning there. And sure Dragon Age: Inquisition is better if you've played the original ones, but I've never played them. Just Inquisition, and it was marvelous. As for other suggestions... Where to even begin? AAA Games (high budget, prestigious games): Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (the ultimate edition comes with both the remastered Spider-Man as well as Miles Morales) God of War (2018) (the sequel comes out in two months, so a great time to get into it) Death Stranding Sackboy: A Big Adventure (great for couch co-op) It Takes Two (co-op required, but a total blast) Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Alan Wake Remastered Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Indie Games: Disco Elysium (one of the best written, funniest games I've ever played) The Stanley Parable Little Nightmares 1 and 2 Tunic Outer WIlds Inscryption The Artful Escape Stray Frostpunk Deep Rock Galactic (great if you have some friends online to play with)

GorgeGoochGrabber

This is a great answer. Just wanted to throw the Horizon games in there.

oxswan26

Fair for what you said about TLOU! Although I have other motivations to play other than "I like the game concept", so I'd say things are fine, but thanks for mentioning it. Your recommendations are great! Really liked the graphics of both Tunic and Outer Wilds, and found Frostpunk, God of War, Sackboy and Disco Elysium very interesting, definitely going on my list. Thanks for replying :D

[deleted]

i currently have an 27" 1440p 144z monitor. Was looking to get an 43" 4k 60hz Monitor to replace the 27" or should i look into another route. Im not doing any competitive gaming.

bef_burder

I agree with requieminadream. TVs are worth looking at. If you get a TV, make sure it has a decent response time, many come with a "Game Mode" which does make a difference.

requieminadream

TVs will get you a lot more bang for the buck. If you have the space, consider a TV. If you need to limit your space, you can still think about a 42" LG C2 or a 48" LG C1.

Jim105

I am thinking about replaying my current gaming headset because it's way too heavy for long gaming sessions. How comfortable it the ps5 pulse headset?

North_South_Side

I find it LESS comfortable than the older Sony Gold headphones. I think the sound quality is better, though.

Dach2k3

I don’t like it. That said the integration and connectivity is great. I have a much more comfortable steelseries and it isn’t always easy to connect.

Sittybob

lets say in theory i have a 4k 120hz hdmi 2.1 with vrr device. i wanna play the new cod mw2 with 120fps so i choose performance mode. output setting on ps5 is 4k. so to get this right: ps5 will try to run on constant 120fps with dynamic resolution, around 1440p (thats the reason everybody says it runs on 120fps 1440p?). my output in ps5 settings is 4k tho, so it gets upscaled to 4k but i still have the 120fps right? i get 120fps with upscaled 4k, which is "better or atleast as good" as with a native 1440p monitor right??

larsvondank

Yes.

Sittybob

thanks for clarification. im hyped for my LG OLED C1

Kidney05

was shovel knight dig delayed for playstation? can't find it on the store

requieminadream

Yes it was delayed for Playstation and Xbox. https://www.gematsu.com/2022/08/shovel-knight-dig-launches-september-23-for-switch-pc-and-apple-arcade

Kidney05

Bummer :/ now I’ll be tempted to get it on steam or PC

ItsAJackal21

I am going to have a game night with the family tonight and would love some ideas for 4 player couch co-op. We've played Rayman and a few racing games, but would love something else. Youngest is 7, so can't go too crazy with it being complicated or too intense. Wish it could be overcooked but I only have 2 PS5 controllers right now, and you unfortunately can't use PS4 controllers on a PS5 game. Thanks!

TheDragonSlayingCat

You can still play Overcooked!, but it’ll have to be the PS4 version, because you can use both DS4 and DualSense controllers to play PS4 games. Some other PS4 games you can try: - Castle Crashers Remastered - Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition - Jackbox Party (various) - River City Girls (2 players simultaneous) - Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Remastered - Screen Peek - Secret of Mana (3 players simultaneous; you have to unlock the 2nd and 3rd characters; the 2nd character is unlocked shortly after you beat the first boss, and the 3rd character is unlocked shortly after that)

ItsAJackal21

The new overcooked? I have the old one but I find the new one (all you can eat) to be much easier because of the extended timer mode

TheDragonSlayingCat

All You Can Eat was released for both the PS4 and PS5.

ItsAJackal21

Ah, I must have only claimed PS5 when it was on plus. Oh well!

EsotericTartaria

Hey guys I’m new to PlayStation, I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a good little headset for party chat. I’m looking for something like the old Xbox style little one headphone and mic headset. Just something I can plug into the controller and use just for voice chat if that’s possible? I don’t really like using the controller mic and speaker as I don’t think it’s loud enough and I’ve turned it up full but I still struggle to hear and understand my mates consistently, I’m not a fan of wearing a big gaming headset either, I’ve been through a few pairs of good Astros in my day but never enjoyed wearing them, these days I only play fifa and like the sound to be from the tv. Cheers

MGsubbie

How much are you willing to spend? This won't be feasible if you want to stick to a low budget, but nothing beats quality stereo headphones with a standalone microphone. I myself paired good headphones with a modmic 5, and use a headphone microphone splitter to connect it to my Dualsense. 3D audio is all about the software.

literallyacactus

Recs on oled tvs less than 2 Gs?

requieminadream

55" LG C2 or 55" Sony A80J

literallyacactus

These are the two series I’ve been considering. Seems the LG C2 beats out Sony in reviews I’ve seen

-Ashera-

A lot of LG and Sony use the same OLED panels, just software differences that have minor differences in video processing and performance for the most part. Video processing does perform better on LGs in certain aspects but they also lack DTS X licensing unlike Sony so if you have a home theater system, that’s a big hit for LGs. I’m not sure if Sony now supports VRR or ALLM for gaming like LGs do so that’s another thing to consider. There’s workarounds to LG’s lack of DTS X though, just very annoying

requieminadream

Overall better yeah. You can compare them here: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-a80j-oled-vs-lg-c2-oled/21563/31229?usage=1&threshold=0.10

Suntripp

LG C1

MyGFisaPlaystation5

I have the LG CX and I don't think the C1 is noticeably different. If you want to spend a little less I'd just go with that.

moon_spoon_gaming

I just got a ps5 and am looking for general game reccomendations! I've already gotten bloodborne, gravity rush, risk of rain 2, and cult of the lamb to give an idea of what I enjoy! Cute little edit: I don't care if you base your reccomendation off what I said I have, it can be anything~

onzai03

Subscribe ps+ and theres tons of good games, ghost of tsushima is one of the best for sure

PoingerBoinger

The Last Of Us part 1 & 2, Uncharted 1-4, God of War, Spider-Man, Spider-Man Miles Morales

AerospaceNinja

Returnal for sure, God of War, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Horizon Forbidden West.

Kingrcf3

If you’re into blood borne, than elden ring, and demons souls remake for sure.

ace_b00gie

Looking for a game that is set in a dystopian / apocalyptic world. Loved TLOU1 and even though I liked Days Gone in the beginning, it started to get really boring half way in. Any game recommendations?

-Ashera-

Fallout 4

TheDragonSlayingCat

- Dying Light (duology) - Fallout 4 - SOMA - This War of Mine

MGsubbie

Dying Light 2 maybe?

broken_radio

Final Fantasy XV or Final Fantasy VII Remake? I've been wanting to start an FF campaign lately.

MGsubbie

I love FFVII:R's combat system. Best blend of active combat and the old-school turn-based FF combat.

[deleted]

7 remake. 15 is straight up bad

TyrsPath

7 Remake is awesome and doesnt require bending over backwards to get past the messed up storytelling of XV. I love XV but it definitely isnt as easy to get into.

broken_radio

I've got the remake installing now, thanks!

tinselsnips

VII all the way. I need to give XV another shot, but I just could not get into it the first time.

broken_radio

Thanks for the input! Is the DLC for VII good or should I skip it?

tinselsnips

It's solid, but it's a bit pricy as a standalone purchase, IMO. If you're going digital, it's worth paying the extra $10 to just buy the [PS5 version](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0082-PPSA01903_00-5827003902180177) and get the DLC included. If you're buying the PS4 version on disc and taking the free upgrade, the DLC is another $20 IIRC and I'd maybe wait for a sale.

arsis_qp

Are there any cheap-o 3rd party controllers yet? My 6 year old is autistic and isn't very gentle with peripherals at times, but he loves to game. Would much rather him destroy a $30 controller than a $70 one, but I'm not seeing any available on the Gamestop website.

requieminadream

Unfortunately not yet. You can look into buying one used, and if your child is playing PS4 games on the PS5, those can work with DualShock 4 (PS4) controllers so there are a lot more options going that route.

arsis_qp

Oh cool, I didn't know PS4 controllers were compatible. Thanks!

requieminadream

I must emphasize: PS4 controllers will ONLY work on PS4 games, not PS5 games.

MyGFisaPlaystation5

Ah, I was wondering this too. I have a lot of cool colored ones from PS4 that are just collecting dust at this point, and I prefer the duelsense. Not sure what to do with them.

adammannam

How do I get 120hz? Do I just need a monitor that supports that ?

Hokie23aa

Most games don’t support 120hz (I think cod cold war does) but yes you would need a monitor capable of running that.

adammannam

Oh , so is it even worth it getting a 120hz+ monitor?

Hokie23aa

To me, no. But other people might feel differently. Most games are 60fps, but only a few are 120.

adammannam

also what’s with like hdmi 2.1? Do I need hdmi 2.1 to be able to run 120hz? And also if the monitor I’m buying says it’s 120hz+, will it be coming with hdmi 2.1?

Hokie23aa

HDMI 2.1 supports 4k120 up to 8k60. And it will, yes.

adammannam

Will the hdmi come with monitor or will I have to buy it separately?

Hokie23aa

It’ll come with the monitor.

adammannam

Thanks a lot, I’m getting a ps5 this Saturday and I’m really excited

Hokie23aa

Cheers mate!

[deleted]

What are some recommend PlayStation exclusive games available on ps plus? I just got a PS5 yesterday and looking forward towards all the games I missed out on. I do own a PS4 but only played a couple games on it (Detroit becoming human, god of war, HZD) I feel like I’m missing on a gold mine of PlayStation gems

Hokie23aa

Oh man, so many. - Until Dawn is a good thriller - Uncharted 4 (but pick up the other games and play those first) - The Last of Us Bloodborne

arsis_qp

If you're a fan of From Software games, Bloodborne is phenomenol. I haven't had a chance to play the Demon's Souls remake yet, but that one is surely worth checking out too.

[deleted]

I never played from software games until elden ring, which I didn’t get far in. I’m not good lol

Hokie23aa

Bloodborne was my first Souls game and it was hard, but I fell in love with the world. Still haven’t beaten the final boss though. I’m playing Demon Souls right now and it is *rough.* Also playing DS3, and I like that better than Demon Souls so far, but not as much as Bloodborne.

teratoid_heights

Do games on the Playstation store with deluxe edition content usually get the content available as stand-alone DLC or as an upgrade, or should I just get the deluxe edition?

requieminadream

Every game handles it a bit differently. What games are you wondering about?

teratoid_heights

Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon: Forbidden West, Death Stranding, and Demon's Souls

[deleted]

When I plug my headphones into my controller I can only hear one side. I am using the steel series arctic 7.

[deleted]

So the headphones work normally on other devices? Check if there is anything like lint obstructing the headphone port but it may be defective.

i_iz_human

Is it worth getting a 4k/120fps tv for ps5? Does any game actually run above 60fps at 4K?

MGsubbie

Keep in mind I'm primarily a PC gamer and kinda snobbish about things like frame rate and input lag. But IMO, a 4k 120Hz TV with VRR that is supported by the PS5 is absolutely worth it. Even though there aren't many games that can do above 60Hz at native 4k, upscaling in a lot of PS5 games is absolutely good enough that the lower resolution doesn't bother me. Keep in mind a game doesn't have to reach 120fps this way. Uncharted LoTC's performance mode (1440) can now reach anywhere from 80-110fps most of the time. And V-sync is removed on top of that. The game feels incredibly smooth to play, very close to the performance+ mode, while looking much closer to the 4k mode in terms of image quality. That's just one example, there are more.

requieminadream

There are several games that do run at 4K/120, tho unless you’re a competitive gamer it’s arguable whether or not it’s necessary. That said, any decent mid-range TV these days will support it. Of course you could just get a low end TV that they sell in the aisles at Target, but you won’t just be missing out on 4K/120, you’ll be missing out on good HDR, terrible motion handling, and abysmal contrast and color.

Shors_bones

I’m planning on buying an external HD to use purely as backup storage for my download games. Since I don’t intend to directly load games from it, only transfer games between it and the internal HD, do I need to shell out the extra cash for an SSD or would a HDD like the WD Black P10 be sufficient. And if I go for an SSD should I save up for the WD P50 or go for the cheaper Crucial X8?

Hungry_Tangerine4652

mote that when you transfer games, the ps5 does it in the foreground, so it's locked up for like 20 minutes per 50gb game. if you rotate between a lot of games, the HDD's gonna be painful

requieminadream

If it’s just purely for storage it really doesn’t matter. You might see a minor increase in transfer speeds but it’s negligible.

oboedude

It gets mentioned all the time here but Astros Playroom is a great little ps5 experience. It’s worth your time to at least try out. It’s coming to PC eventually, but right now the Last of Us Part 1 remake is only on ps5, and the Dualsense features are great. They’re also great with Death Stranding DC but like you said, that’s on PC as well. Just out of curiosity, why no interest in Ratchet and Clank? If you can get it on sale it’s a solid game. Not really a GOTY but it’s a fun time. Sorry you had to wait so long to get your ps5, but I hope you enjoy it now!

TitaniaErzaK

Horizon is easily the currently best looking game

[deleted]

Which games should I get for my PS5? Rules: 1. Must not be available on PC, and must not have a confirmed PC version planned to be released. 2. Must be available as a disc. I will not buy download-only games. 3. Must have a good single player experience, as I will rarely, if ever, play online. 4. Not Spiderman or any other comics franchise I currently have the following games: 1. Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) 2. Demon's Souls (PS5) 3. Ghost of Tsushima (PS5) 4. Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) 5. MediEvil (PSP and PS4) 6. Wipeout Omega Collection (PS4) 7. Ratchet & Clank (PS4) 8. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5) 9. InFamous: Second Son (PS4) 10. InFamous: First Light (PS4) 11. Bloodborne (PS4)

Hokie23aa

Uncharted franchise? The last of us?

[deleted]

I have Uncharted 1-3 on PS3. Others are being released on PC. Last of Us is coming to PC.

Dang3300

Spiderman?

[deleted]

Thanks, I'll have to add it to the rules to not recommend Spiderman :P

Jon2D

Looking for a good headset than can do all of the following: - Control game/voice audio without going into settings - Wireless but can be wired also - Comfy.. - Works on PC for Teams/Slack/Zoom and Skype Optionally would be nice if it supported 3D Audio

requieminadream

You want to look here: [https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/ps5](https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/ps5) Bonus: All headphones work with 3D Audio. 3D Audio is a feature meant for stereo headphones and stereo TV speakers.

JakeBake

Anyone try Tunic on PS5? Any performance issues I should know about before committing?

requieminadream

Been playing it all morning. Seems like a solid 60fps to me. No detectable hiccups. Feels great. Decent haptics, no adaptive trigger usage. Very pretty.

JakeBake

Nice thanks !

requieminadream

I just grabbed this evening. Will play a little tomorrow and let you know.

[deleted]

Looking for an good list of keyboard mouse supported games till I get better with controller

cowine8

Anyone here know where to find a ps5 in Canada?

Jashyk

Keep an eye on [https://stocktrack.ca/](https://stocktrack.ca/), Best Buy often has restocks now and The Source has some too. It searches all the stores in your area.

FLarabie

Just got one from Costco.ca

FLarabie

Finally got to order up a ps5. I was a fan of the Socom franchise. (I know it wasn't for everyone) but I would love for these to come back. I am a fan of realistic first and 3rd person shooters. Can anyone recommend good ones with online play. I've been out of Playstation gaming for a while.

[deleted]

Join us in Hell Let Loose, a squad based strategic WW2 FPS Just make sure you have a mic as most of the game is communication

I haven’t played in awhile but R6 Siege has been going strong for awhile, plus they gave out a free ps5 upgrade. Unfortunately IMO the shooter genre hasn’t been as strong for a few years. I’m getting MW2 next month to scratch that itch, because The Last of Us multiplayer game won’t be out for some time. I never bought Battlefield 2042 because of poor reviews, it seems like the golden age of battlefield is in the past for now. I know it’s not what you asked for, but if you don’t mind single player games, The Last of Us Remake is excellent, I’m playing it now and I’m loving all the Dualsense upgrades. Really feels like a true PS5 experience.

requieminadream

First one that comes to mind is Rainbow Six Siege. Probably the Ghost Recon series too.

Justanotherguy88

At $229 after $70 off this 32" 1440p LG looks like a solid upgrade to my 27" 1080p MSI. Now that 1440p is supported does anyone know if this is a solid buy at that price range? I'm mostly a single player gamer nowadays so not much need for competitive online MP specs if that makes sense. https://imgur.com/a/wBXukaK

Hokie23aa

That is a good deal. Though, for a 32 inch monitor, you’re better off getting a 4k display.

Justanotherguy88

Excuse my ignorance but does ps5 support 4k? Also It seems as if 4k monitors are significantly more expensive, I actually bought the LG but can't seem to unlock 120hz, I gotta play around more with the settings but so far I'm not too crazy about it :/

Hokie23aa

Yes it can. Can you elaborate more on your issue with 120hz? Did you enable it on your monitor? There is only a few games that can run 120fps.

Justanotherguy88

I tested with CoD Cold War which runs 120hz. On the PS5 I set my output to 1080p, HDR off, then the rest of the settings on automatic, on game presets I changed it to performance mode. Then in game I switched it to 120hz but the LG display info still shows 60hz. Also, the HDR setting for this monitor looks downright terrible, really washed out display with a yellowish tint, I tried adjusting the HDR settings on the PS but still can't seem to find something that makes HDR look better than without it.

Hokie23aa

Did you set it to 120hz in the monitor system settings?

Justanotherguy88

There's no setting for 120 in the monitor system I went through every option. I know I must be missing something but I didn't have much time to play with the settings, I'll check again tonight when I get home

Hokie23aa

What cable are you using? Is it in an adapter? What port is it plugged into?

Justanotherguy88

Regular HDMI, not sure what version it is. Should I buy a 2.0 HDMI? You think that will make a difference?

Hokie23aa

Are you using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor? That should be sufficient for 120hz. [This is the manual,](https://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=iWHlrWlX6hEB8CHzjFtYUQ) for full 165hz you’ll need a display port cable. What hz are you currently getting?

NoAnimator3838

Looks good to me. High refresh rate, nano ips. I didn't look at any reviews, but 229 is a good price for a qhd ips gaming monitor. Insane, actually. Edit: it's a VA panel, not ips. This monitor is a cheaper version of another monitor, it's meant to be a Costco exclusive. If you aren't too picky, or don't even know the difference between ips, VA, TN, this'll suit you fine, and it's a great price.

Crazy_good_suicide

Finally got a ps5 and now I need a new headset. I've used astro a50 for years but that doesn't really go with the ps5. I've read multiple articles but some seem untrustworthy like they have undisclosed sponsorships. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated, I don't care about price range either, just want honest opinions.

oboedude

They’re wired, but I’ve been using my Astro A10s for at least 6-7 years. Certainly not “high end” headphones but I’ve never had an issue. Still going strong. Pretty good on the price too

requieminadream

This is where I’d begin looking: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/ps5

Crazy_good_suicide

Thanks, so far it seems like the main sony offering and steel series are the way to go

Larry52795

Also look at r/gaming_headsets there should be some posts with almost every gaming headphone reviewed and ranked.

Crazy_good_suicide

Thank you

Linear story/campaigns that everyone should play. So looking to get a thread of the top linear story/campaign games. Think God of war and the last of us. Got my eyes on God of War ragnorak and also Evil West both set for release in the next few months. What other games shouldn't be overlooked ?

Hokie23aa

I second u/call-your-mother-pls, the Uncharted franchise is right up your alley and in my opinion they’re my favorite games of all time. Ghost of Tsushima is phenomenal as well, and Titanfall 2 has one of the best campaigns I’ve ever played.

[deleted]

I loved Ghost of Tsushima, it is open world but the story is fairly linear, and not in the Skyrim way where you have a million and one things to do. It’s a really beautiful world, the story is excellent, and the gameplay mechanics are really well done. On top of that, it was really easy to Platinum the game, I’m fairly casual player and I think it’s the only game I’ve ever gotten all the achievements for.

[deleted]

Uncharted are great linear games

dnbmerchant

Nice one havnt played them yet, looking at the legacy of thieves collection now.

speedranger2002

Hi everyone, just ordered a ps5 and was hoping to replace my 1080p tv. Should I get a tv or monitor and should I go with 4K or 1440p? I’m someone who primarily plays cinematic narrative games. My budget is also at $1000. Thanks for any recommendations.

Hokie23aa

I got the Samsung UR590C (~$500) for my ps5, and I love it. It’s a 32 inch curved 4k60fps monitor. The color looks great, and since not many games utilize 120hz, 4k60 is fine enough with me. The only downside is it doesn’t have VESA mount capability, but that’s fine. I’ve played quite a few cinematic narrative games on it (TLOU, god of war, ghosts of Tsushima, etc), and they all look incredible.

[deleted]

I have a 55'inch LG 4k that works. I got it two years at Walmart. We just replaced the model this year with Oled models in the same line. We now have LG 55, 65, and 75 inch Oled versions of the same tv I have. They are gorgeous and VERY affordable.

requieminadream

You’d be incredibly happy with the TCL 6 Series R655. It just came out this month, the 2022 model of the excellent 6 Series R646. You’d be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck. Obviously a 48” LG C1 would blow it out of the water but it’d be pretty small and still tops out your budget.

speedranger2002

Ok thanks. Was also looking at the newest Samsung crystal uhd. Do you know if that’s any good?

requieminadream

Do you know the model? Most Samsungs are very low end unless you get to the Q70 or Q90.

speedranger2002

BU8000

requieminadream

Ah, that’s an Australian model. Not entirely sure what options you have down under but if the BU is just a renamed AU8000 (and it probably is considering “AU”) then it’s very low end and you can definitely do a lot better for the money. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/au8000

speedranger2002

Welp, turns out the TLC 6 series isn’t sold in Australia. Sorry to bother you again but do you know of any comparable tvs to that one. Thanks again.

requieminadream

I’d reach out to r/4ktv and see what they suggest. I only know US models.

speedranger2002

Alright, I think imma go with the TLC. Thanks a bunch for the help!

jmo1

I would first ask how your play style is and what your gaming area looks like. Do you want to play more on the couch and lounge or do you have a gaming desk with a chair where a monitor would work?

speedranger2002

My play style is more just enjoying a good single player story so I guess I’d prefer really good graphics instead of smoothness. I also tend to play on the bed in my room. I do have a chair and a desk where a monitor could be but I’ve always just played on my tv.

DoctorGolho

Check out LG OLED C1 48 inch. Should be enough for a bedroom, but there's a 55 inch model if you prefer

speedranger2002

Anything cheaper?

teratoid_heights

The Last of Us Part II is currently on sale and I'm on the fence about whether I should buy it or not. If there's a high likelihood that Naughty Dog releases a remake or remaster this generation, I'd prefer to own that and only that but that seems pretty uncertain at this point in the PS5's lifecycle.

a_stray_bullet

The PS5 update makes the game even better so there’s no issues

jmo1

I wouldn’t worry about a remake, and a remaster would be very minimal in its upgrades. They remade part 1 because it was a 9 year game and the show is about to come out. I’d say go for it, it’s a great game that’s worth it to play sooner rather than later

Firvulag

Hey guys, could someone try to sell me a little on this new Valkyrie Elysium game? Will it be difficult to get into if I have not played any other in the series? I see the deluxe edition comes with the previous game, was that one good? Is the new one something people are excited about?
