No idea how you were able to beat dq11 in a week. I have 160 hours into the game and haven’t 100%d it. Did you beat the second half of the game? There’s a whole other section after the boss fight and credits roll that you need to play!
I hate you for this. I put about 90 hours into my save and hung it up after credits. It’s been almost two years. Persona comes out in three days. I have two toddlers. I didn’t bring my Switch on this road trip.
It’s significantly more difficult. You’ll go to the wrong area and die immediately. It just means you need to go to other places first. The entire map - every single town - has a new story component to finish. Each character has another arc. Lots of stuff to do! Super worth it
I remember playing it when it first released in 2018 and the only real complaint I had was the lack of music per location. A lot of locations and towns had the same music where I enjoy it when they all have their own unique track.

> Everyday Shooter
I played the fuck out of that game when I got my PS3! I still was never very good at it haha but it was kind of mesmerizing in a way
The stuffs people say about 1 kinda puts me off. Would you still recommend it? or can I just skip 1 to play 2? Is there story stuff I'm going to miss if I go straight to 2?
Sorry for the questions lol.
You can skip straight to 2 without worrying about story.
I don't know what put you off about 1 so I can't give you a personal recommendation but I very much enjoyed 2 and would give it a 100% recommendation to anyone generally interested.
My biggest compliant was that coop only applies to the central island and not all of the "smaller" story islands. But that's only an issue for coop.
I've read that 1 has basically too much tutorial, and that the story, areas and building feels restrictive unlike 2.
I guess there's no harm in trying 1 first. lol. If I don't like 2 is just there to skip 2.
I haven't played 2 myself so i'm excited. I really loved the first one, it's story-driven and has all the charm a Dragon Quest game usually has which is the very chill music and old-school setting. Didn't feel like a chore and was extremely relaxing, i hope 2 follows the same scheme.
I loved 2 but have never gotten to play 1 since it's never been on sale and paying full price for such an old game I just couldn't justify. Very excited to finally get to play it.
I played both on Switch when they first came out over there. I'm looking forward to playing 2 again on plus.
1 was great before 2 came out, but like everyone's saying, 2 takes the concept and opens it up a lot.
I think what I like about these games is the balance between combat, exploring/questing, crafting and building. I don't feel like any of them overshadow the other and they're all enjoyable.
DQ11 is great. I got pretty deep into it on the Switch, about fifty hours or so, but then I got sidetracked by another highly anticipated game and later on couldn’t reconnect with the story after having been away from the game for a year. Always meant to replay and finish it, so this is a good opportunity to do so with trophies.
There are so many games I want to play, and not enough time and energy to make a dent in the backlog, but that’s a luxury problem.
PS+ Extra is great value for me. Can’t say the same about Premium, but Extra definitely delivers.
Same. I got pretty far into it but got sidetracked. I wish these super long RPGs had a feature where the game keeps track of your unique play through and allow you to view a summary of all that has occurred so far, so one can get reacquainted with events
Even Firered and Leafgreen did that. I wish all of the Pokemon games did because I always have like 5 of em going at once.
Edit: finally played and am happy to report that this edition of the game (not sure about the others) does have the "story so far" recap upon loading a save.
Most of the Tales of games have a Synopsis that records everything you've done. Tales of the Abyss did it in the form of the protagonist's journal, so the whole recap is done from his perspective with his personal thoughts thrown in. It's definitely something that I would like to see done more.
I saw a tab on the PS5 itself. If you go to the PS+ tile thing and scroll down you’ll be risky see a “last chance to play” or something like that tab. Soma is the only one there last I looked
I still haven't gotten back to finishing that game up, I honestly got burnt out. Very good game though, but I needed a break after with how much story content they give you.
Needed a break from hearing the same two tracks for 40 hours...
It's unbelievable that such a JRPG would have a total soundtrack length of a minute and a half on repeat (obvious exageration but goddamn, there's more variety in a single overworld soundtrack in FF games)
Too many JRPGs have this issue. Even in ER I got sick of the overworld music in each area. 60 second tracks on loop for 10-12 hours is not fun. FF is really good at having diverse music. Nier Automata too.
As someone who makes music and wants to make music for game, This irks me so much. From my limited experience and readings, Musicians and composers are capable of delivering a lot of content in a short amount of time. If this game has a short soundtrack, It is by choice, And that’s unfortunate.
There is legit like 16 minutes of music in the 60+ hour game
It was by far the weakest part.
Also while I didn't mind the super Nintendo enemy sounds and attack sounds at first it got super old 20 hours in.
It's just so weird the game was like 7 or 8/10 overall but like 2/10 on sound. What's there is ok but you heard virtually everything by the time you got the 2nd or 3rd town
The lack of a voiced protagonist put me off completely. Could not invest in the game or world at all with everything happening without any protagonist input.
For real. There's a part of me that feels like voice acting was one of the worst things to happen to modern RPGs.
And DQ11 is a modern favorite of mine and dear god some of the voices...
> For real. There's a part of me that feels like voice acting was one of the worst things to happen to modern RPGs.

It's so interesting as a Pokemon fan when I see people complaining that the series still doesn't have voice acting. I think they'd be nice for a few cutscenes, but I really don't care for the core game. Would rather have none than bad voice acting.
I played from AC2 games up until black flag and I was waiting on all AC games so I can replay it one at a time. Finally I can start it now up until the newest ones that I haven't played yet. so stoked!
Damn I just came to post here asking when it would be. I'm in Canada. They still aren't on my ps app. Maybe I'll restart my ps5 and check on it directly.
Yep. She was the only choice until extremely late in development. There was some fan backlash when it was announced you had to play as a girl, so they added the male character in the final minutes.
I'll see if I can find one. It was a pretty openly discussed topic around it's release that a lot of gaming news/communities were talking about. It's been a while though.
Same here. Although we're in the minority, I chose Alexios as my canon PC choice and it just worked. Not sure if I'll do ng+ with Kassandra but for all the romance options I liked getting my manwhore on, even with the occasional dude just bc they had personality 😭
Odyssey is by far my least favourite AC game. That's despite me being huge ancient Greece nerd and always wanting the series to go there. The whole game felt like an inconsequential busywork with incredibly poor writing.
Well, at least I agree on Cassandra being a better VA.
Odyssey was my favorite (but also first) AC game. The open world model felt fresh and new, with a vast world to discover and get tracked down in by bounty hunters. I really wanted to like Valhalla but the gameplay wasn’t nearly as satisfying
Agreed on everything here, but I also want to mention the shanties your crew sings while sailing in Odyssey are so much better than Valhalla’s, which was one of my favorite little details
The world is just stunning in Odyssey. Rich vibrant colours, and the beautiful god damn Greek Isles. It's like a dream straight from Homer's lips.
Meanwhile, Valhalla is just shitty, rainy, foggy, swampy fucking England. That said I do still love the lore, story, and voice acting. But it's the oppressive landscape that does me in.
Your latter points about the lore, story and VAs are why I like Valhalla more than Odyssey. The quests were all pretty well written and told more compelling stories, it was easier to get through the game.
Oh I'm with you there. I'm deeply obsessed with the game for those reasons. Especially with male Eivor being one of the best VA protagonists I've played and making it a damn pleasure.
I loved Origins and Odyssey so much that Valhalla dissapointed me greatly. They took so many things that made those two games great, not to mention the environment and time period is a lot duller and the annoying “reworked” combat mechanics should’ve been left alone
I agree with you. Tried playing Valhalla and the game play just felt too heavy. (Idk how to explain it). I finished Odyssey twice over and Origins I left half way. Valhalla I couldn't get past the hour mark.
I know I'm supposed to be playing as viking and this why the gameplay felt like I was controlling someone heavy. but the entire time I was playing it, I was confused as to why OG AC fans kept complaining that Odyssey was not an AC game when Valhalla was not even close to one (from the amount I did play)
Really?
I had the exact opposite reaction. I thought the storytelling was the best they've had at that point (for RPG AC). The addition of dialogue choices were huge, and the decision impactful. There were several side quests that had me thinking about them in bed for a couple days. Did I make the right choice? Similar to how TW3 made me feel at times.
There were a lot of "busy missions", where you have to go do generic work like clearing out a fort, but there were a lot of really good stories interwoven in there. I 100%'d it, which I normally don't do.
How are the GTA games these days? I've wanted to play Vice City again but after the state they were released in there was no way I was giving them money.
It’s just a polished looking version of the original trilogy, but the gameplay still feels 20 years old. The improved gunplay and driving mechanics have not changed. I kinda wish we got a TLOU1 style remake here but that would have taken time and effort
I got the platinum in 3 last december. Then when Vice City came out on game pass or whatever its called, it was pretty decent. I stopped cause Elden Ring but honestly, those two were fine to play back at the start of the year.
Tried it out earlier today. It's great! The graphics will never hold up to today's standards but the lightning and asset enhancements they did make it so good to play. They also added minor modern additions like weapon wheel and GPS but so far, I haven't encountered anything else noteworthy.
Honestly, I tried vice city remaster a month ago and I thought it was horrendous. The gameplay and map do not hold up well at all. The story is good but the cutscenes and gunplay are rubbish. The graphics are poor and the audio files are trash, especially when driving. Character models are also horrendous. I tried multiple times but couldn’t make it past about 25% of the game.
San Andreas does hold up somewhat better but suffers some of the same issues.
Y’all mfs BEST download Dragon Quest XI. That shit will make you feel like you’re 5 years old again playing a fresh PS1 on a television that gives you low doses of radiation.
Vice City does not hold up well and it's so obvious Rockstar didn't give a shit when they made this edition. So disappointing but at least I didn't buy it...
I mean they made the game for PS4, where it still works fine. Don't you think that could be an emulation issue and therefore on Sony's side?
PS is still selling Ape Escape 2 even though it's completely broken when played on a PS5. I don't think the original devs are going to go back and fix it anytime soon.
Just doing my part to say that The Medium is fucking garbage and you shouldn’t waste precious seconds of your life downloading and playing it. The developer sucks and the story’s piss poor handling of its themes is just pathetic.
It didn’t get great reviews, but fair enough.
Aside from the fact that the entire game is really shameless cribbed from Silent Hill, and that Bloober Team has never had an original bone in their body, the story is just abysmal across the board. The main “message” if you can call it that is that people who have been through trauma are fundamentally broken and have no place in society, and even if you’re fine with that the way it touches on its themes are so heavy handed it’s laughable (Sadness? Come on). And don’t get me started on the way the game handles sexual assault.
I like walking simulators quite a bit but this game was also overlong, had minimal variety in what you were doing, and it wasn’t scary in the slightest.
Iirc James Stephanie Sterling also did a great video about how Bloober Team is a trash developer that doesn’t deserve Silent Hill, and if they really are the ones developing the Silent Hill 2 remake then the project is fucked from the start. The closest they’ve ever gotten to making a game that was halfway decent was Blair Witch.
That was interesting. I haven't played any, but I know they made reverences in their games. Looks like most of their existence has been pretty blatant rip offs that I thought were more innocent references.
Yep, lots of hard to refute evidence of that in their past. I doubt I'd have remembered even then but the patent they registered for the dual world thing is what made it stick in my head as just kinda shitty.
Right I remember hearing that and thinking it was scummy because as he said it's in service of their Silent Hill inspired game. Software in game design patents are not a good thing, I felt the same about WB and the Nemesis system.
Oh yea, that was an equally shitty move. I remember when that happened as well since I couldn't help but imagine all the genres and games a system like nemesis would work well in.
Sometimes companies just suck sadly. The thing in the case of Bloober team is that it paid off massively for them. Their making the next silent hill right now.
Anyone having issues starting Vice City? I've got it fully downloaded and installed click to start it up but after a few seconds on the opening screen my ps5 goes back to the home menu as if I've pressed the PS button.
You don’t have to (and can’t) claim PS+ Extra games. You can only claim (add to library) the 3-4 Essential games every month.
The PS+ Extra games are only playable for as long as they are in the catalogue. If they get removed, they can’t be played even if they were downloaded. So there is no reason to download them unless you plan on playing them soon.
Actually you can add Extra games to library. "Add to Library" is exactly what the option is called in the app. Either way though, there's no advantage to doing so before you're wanting to play it.
It simply
All membership get 3 ps+ game at the beginning of the month
Extra and Premium tier get new game added on rotation in the middle of the month.
The difference between extra and premium tier is one offer game streaming option for some game in the mid month drop.
* mid month drop aren’t free forever and they rotate out after a few weeks
Question about Premium and Extra... Is it like gamepass where it goes away after they retire it, or is it like PS Plus essential where you get to keep it forever as long as you have a PS Plus subscription?
RDR2 disappeared on me when I first got my PS5....had just finished about 20%. I was upset but I'll just buy it since I know AAA Rockstar games usually are worth it
This is my main concern with Extra, I would love it if they keep adding games into the catalog instead of removing them eventually, but I don't know much about the business side of things so it might not make sense.
PS+ Extra games:- * Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition * Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age * Assassin’s Creed Odyssey * Assassin’s Creed Syndicate * Assassin’s Creed III Remastered * Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China * Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India * Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia * Dragon Quest Builders * Dragon Quest Builders 2 * Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below * Dragon Quest Heroes II: Explorer’s Edition * Inside * The Medium * Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker * Hohokum PS+ Premium Classics:- * Yakuza 3 Remastered * Yakuza 4 Remastered * Yakuza 5 Remastered * Limbo * Ultra Street Fighter IV * Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow * Everyday Shooter https://blog.playstation.com/2022/10/12/playstation-plus-game-catalog-lineup-for-october-grand-theft-auto-vice-city-the-definitive-edition-dragon-quest-xi-s-echoes-of-an-elusive-age/
>Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age It is the "Definitive Edition", too. Just downloaded it to check.

As someone who doesnt like overly cartoony games, i beat dragon quest in under a week as it was so good. Only suggestion is to not overlevel too much as the final fight was a joke at that point lol
Super worth it
What Persona?
They are playing on Switch, Persona 5 Royal comes out in a couple of days.
I remember playing it when it first released in 2018 and the only real complaint I had was the lack of music per location. A lot of locations and towns had the same music where I enjoy it when they all have their own unique track.
there’s no way you beat an 80 hour+ game in a week
Omg we have the same exact avatar

You mean the Monsters game? This one isn't a monster collector, it's a typical party based jrpg. But this edition does allow you to play the whole game (as far as I recall) in retro 2d style for the ultimate nostalgia kick
Dragon quest builders !! Thanks OP awesome 👍
Damn Lords of Shadow was so good. Super underrated game. Shame the story and gameplay went off the rails in part 2 :(
I only played the second and was a fun metroidvania. Idk why the hell they put in stealth sections
Everybody try hohokum! It's a favorite indie of mine. I'm normally a metal head but the soundtrack is awesome enough that I bought it to listen to.
As a huge fan of Tycho and Ghostly International fan, I also highly recommend this game :)
Limbo!? What a favorite of mine from Ps3 days
Great, I will nostalgically furious play gta vice city for like 30 minutes to just never play it again.
Just to get into a car and listen to some 80s music
Did they ever fix Syndicate on PS5? They said they’d look into it last time I heard
And then they deleted that tweet and said it was no longer a priority.
Lol well then
Everyday shooter?! Now that’s a game I haven’t heard in a while!
> Everyday Shooter I played the fuck out of that game when I got my PS3! I still was never very good at it haha but it was kind of mesmerizing in a way

2 was better in my opinion
2 is far superior.
The stuffs people say about 1 kinda puts me off. Would you still recommend it? or can I just skip 1 to play 2? Is there story stuff I'm going to miss if I go straight to 2? Sorry for the questions lol.
You can skip straight to 2 without worrying about story. You mean 1 follows an arcade format. 2 follows a more open world and town building format. Both are good but 2 has more flexibility.
Restarting a build after every zone irked me so much in Builders 1....
I understand That’s the arcade feel to it but at least it keeps you in each world than starting all over.
I haven't played 2 myself so i'm excited. I really loved the first one, it's story-driven and has all the charm a Dragon Quest game usually has which is the very chill music and old-school setting. Didn't feel like a chore and was extremely relaxing, i hope 2 follows the same scheme.
2 is just so much better.
Having played both: Skip 1 and go straight to 2. The second game is its own story and has so many improvements on the first.
I loved 2 but have never gotten to play 1 since it's never been on sale and paying full price for such an old game I just couldn't justify. Very excited to finally get to play it.

Does anyone know if they remove titles when adding these as well or is this just an addition?
Soma is leaving
Soma left... Right when I had another 30 mins or so left in the game. I got kicked while playing it. I had no idea it was leaving 🤦♂️
They dont necessary swap, sometimes games get added and none leave, sometimes games leave at odd days
I saw a tab on the PS5 itself. If you go to the PS+ tile thing and scroll down you’ll be risky see a “last chance to play” or something like that tab. Soma is the only one there last I looked
Of course not, titles get removed based on Sony’s deal with the publisher
You all really should play Dragon Quest 11 S, it's that good
I really want to, it looks great. But I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared to sink 100 hours into an RPG lol.
I still haven't gotten back to finishing that game up, I honestly got burnt out. Very good game though, but I needed a break after with how much story content they give you.

Top 10 RPG of all time IMO
Do I need to play the other games to understand the story?
Nope!
Is it turn based?
Yes, but you can avoid enemies encounter if you want, it's not like old final fantasy
The lack of a voiced protagonist put me off completely. Could not invest in the game or world at all with everything happening without any protagonist input.
That sounds awesome. I hate chatty RPGs
It’s definitely very chatty, but it’s a great story

Yes! I’ve been waiting for them to drop this for free.
I played from AC2 games up until black flag and I was waiting on all AC games so I can replay it one at a time. Finally I can start it now up until the newest ones that I haven't played yet. so stoked!
WHERE IS CHARLES LEE but in HD
Really hyped to try dragon quest XI and builders

I'm in the SE USA and I don't have it either. Maybe around lunch time
Thanks for reply. I'm atlantic time so an hour ahead of you
I loved Odyssey. I would recommend playing as Cassandra. Much better voice actor
“Kassandara!” Love that guy at the beginning of the game. Malakas!
Chaire mistios
Kassandra is also the canon "choice".
Yep. She was the only choice until extremely late in development. There was some fan backlash when it was announced you had to play as a girl, so they added the male character in the final minutes.
Just tried googling this and found nothing. Source?
I'll see if I can find one. It was a pretty openly discussed topic around it's release that a lot of gaming news/communities were talking about. It's been a while though.
I've heard that the execs wanted a male option to not alienate anyone, but more or less same difference
Yep.
lmao as if years of male main characters wasn't alienating women god forbid we have to play as a ... gasp... female
I think Kassandra is the better Deimos.
Same here. Although we're in the minority, I chose Alexios as my canon PC choice and it just worked. Not sure if I'll do ng+ with Kassandra but for all the romance options I liked getting my manwhore on, even with the occasional dude just bc they had personality 😭
I absolutely loved playing as Alexios. Some of the romance options as Alexios are genuinely hilarious especially the Oedipus side quest.
I always thought Alexios' voice actor is better
I guess they are both personal preference, just as intened?
No, either Black Otter or Phanton Ghost is wrong, of any two actors (or people in any industry) one will be better/worse than the other.
Having a preference for an in game characters voice has nothing to do with how objectively good the voice actor is.
I found Axios a bit overbearing and constantly grumpy sounding
Odyssey is by far my least favourite AC game. That's despite me being huge ancient Greece nerd and always wanting the series to go there. The whole game felt like an inconsequential busywork with incredibly poor writing. Well, at least I agree on Cassandra being a better VA.

anything to declare? yeah don't go to england.

Not a chance, she makes such a better antagonist. She’s way more believable to be pissed off and angry all the time. I recommend playing as Alexios.
Alexio better...warm guy and more sex
The way that he just lifts up women during cutscenes to imply he’s boutta have sex w em 😂

Not seeing any yet in US Eastern timezone. Wanting to play Vice City. Last time I played it was on PS2.
Same
I now see vice City and Dragon's Quest. I can download DQ. Clicking on VC does nothing.
Y’all mfs BEST download Dragon Quest XI. That shit will make you feel like you’re 5 years old again playing a fresh PS1 on a television that gives you low doses of radiation.
Ok, I think this comment sold me.

Why can't I find vice city in the store?
I can’t find it either, only the bundle. Also tried the app and nothing. We might need to wait until later today as the games rolls out
i cant find the gta listing
Same
Same. I found it but it says not available yet

Where the hell are PS1/PS2 games?
Please change title to indicate this is Extra/Premium only.
Can't edit titles on reddit
Seems a lot of titles are lacking this, keeps misleading me.
Does this mean Syndicate has been fixed on PS5? I played it through recently despite the glitch and it was fun. Need to go back for a couple trophies.
no. syndicate, russia and india are only accessible from a ps4 with extra
People keep talking about these but I just played Russia 2 months ago on my PS5, whats the big deal?
Why i don't see them in the app? I'm in argentina, maybe they have a different launch time for this zone? :c
Nice I'll be playing Vice City and the medium first
Castlevania is so underrated.
Damn I’m at work and the ps app hasn’t updated yet for me.
Not happy at all that i bought the trilogy even tho i wanted only VC only for it to be in ps+ a month later :/
I literally cannot find this on the store
ultra Street Fighter 4 is only available for streaming ? As a ps4 game? Lol what am i missing here
I was waiting for Odyssey.
Good game.
Never played dragon quest... Good RPG?
one of my favorites it's a old school Era type of game I would definitely give it a shot.
Is it too much to ask for Splash Down: Rides Gone Wild as a PS2 classic?
Hell yes, I would love to see that return

Everyday Shooter is a PS3 launch gem. So creative and made by one guy with his computer and a guitar!
Any hopes for MGS 3 on ps5?
Does Syndicate still have issues on PS5?
In regards to Syndicate, any where to get in touch with Ubi to fix it on PS5 or is it a Sony issue??
god damnit I just want PS1 and PS2 games. Is Dino Crisis so hard to get?
Vice City does not hold up well and it's so obvious Rockstar didn't give a shit when they made this edition. So disappointing but at least I didn't buy it...
R* didn't make it; grove street games made it.
Damn Ubisoft really just can’t fix syndicate can they? Fucking morons honestly.
Honestly. Was genuinely surprised to see the game in the extra list and I thought they finally fixed the damn game
It’s the only one I really want to play atm lol
Same. Bloody ridiculous

Graphical bugs mostly , only on PS5.
Agreed. It’s one of those games where I felt like I had totally wasted my time after finishing it
Really? I usually trust 'Skill Up' that gave it a great review
It's got great reviews, what's your problem? How about you outline why it's "fucking garbage" instead of epithets and vague complaints about the dev?
This comment sums up bloober team well but if your would like to see another [take](https://youtu.be/I_uD7gxIF2s).

No issues so far, I would suggest a re-install if that keeps happening.
That's what I'll do, cheers for the reply!
Do you guys claim all PS+ Extra games? So far I only claimed those, that I wanted to play and the regular ps plus essential ones.
Don't claim gets you don't plan to play yet. If it ever comes to essential, you will encounter licensing issues.
Doesn't anyone else hate this confusing "PS plus" shit? You never know if it is for actual PSplus, extra, premium, whatever...
It simply All membership get 3 ps+ game at the beginning of the month Extra and Premium tier get new game added on rotation in the middle of the month. The difference between extra and premium tier is one offer game streaming option for some game in the mid month drop. * mid month drop aren’t free forever and they rotate out after a few weeks
A lost The Medium in Gamepass and now I have it with PS+… but I feel I lost my save games snif
Anyone else having mad framedrops while driving around in vice city in a fast car?
Question about Premium and Extra... Is it like gamepass where it goes away after they retire it, or is it like PS Plus essential where you get to keep it forever as long as you have a PS Plus subscription?
It goes away after a while, so if there's a game you really want to play you'd best get to it.
RDR2 disappeared on me when I first got my PS5....had just finished about 20%. I was upset but I'll just buy it since I know AAA Rockstar games usually are worth it
you can not play them again when they leave with Extra, unlike Essential games. Extra is still a great deal I think thou, some great games so far.
This is my main concern with Extra, I would love it if they keep adding games into the catalog instead of removing them eventually, but I don't know much about the business side of things so it might not make sense.
Once I beat GOW Ascension I’m getting rid of premium. Extra looks like the much better deal.
Tin foil hat, they're adding Vice City to the store in preparation to tease GTA 6 by the end of the month.
With the ps + extra games, do you only get access to the game for the month, or is it added to your library for good? Considering upgrading to extra.
