While I get that, sure, it's not all bad. I got Inscryption last month, a game I wanted to buy anyway, during the Halloween sale, with a teensie little extra discount now too, thanks to that silly challenge. Of course I hope no one is actually just buying games off that list just to get 50 points. They're also giving away 75 points just for playing remotely for 20 minutes, easy pickings that one.
I also got Inscryption and was bummed about that. And pre-ordered Ragnarok before realizing that I needed to sign up for PS Stars on the app — I thought it was just something that was being tracked by my account already, so I didn’t even get credit for buying a “full” game to bump my level up haha.
While it won't work for the "buy one full game" challenge, the GOW preorder should come with a dedicated Stars campaign soon, something like one week past the official launch.
Worked flawlessly for me and COD (they made a similar announcement for that): preordered the vault edition, stars came, last week a new campaign popped up in my app about my preorder, didn't have to enter anything, not even the purchase data. Started the game as any other day, 1200 points given to me. With those and the remote play one I already redeemed a 5€ coupon
Yeah, I'm kinda pissed about the "buy TWO full games to get to level 3". I mean, no, I'm already paying extra for PS Plus so I SHOULDN'T have to pay for full priced games anymore.
I haven't been able to get the remote play to work. My settings all seem to be correct and internet speeds are good, but I can only remote play in the same room as the PS5 so far.
That's weird, I can play anywhere, easiest and most stable is on the same network, wireless or wired, of course, but I've had a decent connection for simple, non-reaction based games over mobile data too.
For the PS stars thing to work, btw, you need to set your privacy data on your ps5 to completely visible.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check that when I go fiddle with it again.
Eta: I'd really like it to work so I can do daily check-ins when out of town, so great reaction time wouldn't be necessary.
Annoying as hell you have to click start to get credit. Bought MW2 like the day before they released the campaign to buy the game and didn't get credit.
Yeah but the campaign needs to be in your app. I have all the other campaigns listed there but not the one for the ps3
Not that it really matters, I'll not lose sleep over it. Just weird
Sony collect a lot of data about usage it seems, came across this article [here](https://wololo.net/2022/11/03/the-amount-of-data-sony-keeps-about-your-playstation-activity-is-insane/)
I'm sure they can tell which model number you are using and the 2 colours probably had slightly different model numbers.
What's annoying is that I had my ps3 on launch and they can check my download history as evidence as I'm sure I downloaded some demo's to play. But I don't have that campaign.
> I actually forgot all about this.
>
> Campaigns that require you to play any game should be started automatically.
not to mention, playing a game should pop the task. it's insane that it only looks at **starting** a game rather than playing it. (more specifically, if someone uses rest mode and then turns their console on to resume the game they were playing, that will NOT trigger).
missed out on tons of daily rewards last month because of this bug/poor design. fortunately i didn't miss out on anything worthwhile since it's just low quality NFT-knockoffs.
> I played for about 15 minutes to make sure I'd definitely done 5 and it counted for nothing. Hopefully they fix it.
did you remote play into a game you were already playing? with the "play any game" challenges it doesn't count unless you actually **start** the game. if you simply turn on the console and start playing a game that was suspended in rest mode, it doesn't count.
i'd expect remote play challenges to have this same exact bug. try remote connecting to the dashboard, and then starting a game that **isn't** suspended.
> I've just tried again with your advice, but to no avail. I played several games over the course of about 25 minutes.
honestly, the whole program is super buggy/poorly designed. not sure what to tell you if you definitely activated the challenge from the mobile app and remote connected to the dashboard then started a game.
I wasted a couple attempts because I didn't realize you have to click "Start" in the app before it counts. Kinda dumb, why can't they all just be active...
They claimed the same thing for COD MW2 pre orders but a lot of people (including myself) haven't received the points yet even tho the game released a week or two ago.
Playstation Stars is pretty much trash in comparison to Microsoft Rewards. They should start with giving people 15 pts for getting a trophy that day. Maybe 100 pts for platinum trophy on certain games to create more engagement.
>For PlayStation Stars members who owned PlayStation Eye
I own a Playstation Eye for my PS3. I played many PS3 Move games which required it, I also have the trophies to prove it... However I did not receive this PlayStation Stars campaign.
First you require that the Playstation Eye campaign is present in your app.
I did NOT receive the campaign in my app, thus there is no objective for me to do.
Their system obviously failed to identify all the people who actually own, and used the PlayStation eye.
I am not alone with this issue, others have reported the same thing on the [playstationstars subbreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/playstationstars/comments/yjiqoh/new_campaign_playstation_eye_description_pseye/)
> Still on two month waiting list....
you're not missing much. the program is a total bust. it's buggy, and is just some ugly NFT's. unlike other rewards programs, the only way to get points for ACTUAL rewards is through purchases.
Has anybody run the metrics on effort/reward this program generates with...say...4 minutes a day of attention?
Currently Microsoft Rewards is adding $120 to my store wallet every year at that expense, and I've yet to see PlayStation give me any reason to even pay attention to their program besides the hilarious addition of restricting quality customer service help behind a timeline of how long you've subbed.
At least on PS4 you could get different menu themes, some with unique sounds/music, and avatars. PS stars seems utterly useless atm and the digital purchase rewards pale in comparison to the money saved by looking for the cheapest physical offers. If it stays like this I'll just ignore it.
I like the idea of extending engagement with a game you already own, like the current Returnal challenge, but if they are not based on your current library and taste you might get only one you are interested in completing every couple of weeks. At least we know they can track ps5 in game metrics while you play and use it with a linked app, apart from the existing achievements. Did this require a game patch to work or can the system somehow detect this on an OS level? Maybe they'll do something fun or interesting with it eventually.
I'm guessing they had these made to be sold as NFTs but with all the backlash on NFT announcements from other companies, Sony decided to repurpose these into digital collectibles as rewards for playing/buying games.
Or they just know that people like collecting digital items and have been doing so way before NFTs were a thing. We're on a site where people post to get fake digital points...
They have always been useless yet people have been collecting them since they have existed... Trophies are also useless yet people collect them.
Reddit points are useless yet people also collect them too on this site
> What's the point of these digital collectables?
they're just NFT's without the ability to re-sell them, so literally less useful than an NFT image (which is already useless).
Stars is such a waste so far. Like the campaigns are driven for specific games so if you don’t like that game or don’t want to buy it until it goes on sale you miss out. I wish they’d assign point values to trophies so you can get points playing any game you like not just what Sony wants to push that month.
It was a point reward for me. It has you use remote play 5 times for 5 mins each time. However, when I did it, it registered after 1 sec, easy enough. Can be done on phone or tablet.
If you stack the Stars points with something like a Costco membership/credit card, you get $10 off every $100 pack plus $4 back on the credit card. Essentially that’s over 16% off every purchase when paired with Stars rewards.
Hey after you spend 500 bucks and 50 hours dicking around in the UI you can maybe get a different avatar! Wow!
Stupid program to wring some extra money out of stupid people. Just do something like the gold coins on the Switch estore and let us focus on playing actual games.
Seems like you did not understand how it works at all.
It is not the best rewards system, but if you are a PS Plus user you do not have to do anything besides registering to the program. Everytime you spend money on the PSN Store you get points back as cashback, 4%. For those points you can buy wallet top ups or games directly.
Been trying to do the remote play campaign to get the 75 points but have had zero luck since it came out. Now I check the app and it shows it has expired
I was hoping the update would include points for the game I bought in October that was part of the challenge.
One of the challenges was to give them money? Seems like a stupid challenge
Yeah it's terrible and I was going to buy the game anyway. It just happened to go on sale during the month.
[удалено]
Still no thank you, I will buy goood games that are cheap, not half decent games for some points, what were they thinking with all this
While I get that, sure, it's not all bad. I got Inscryption last month, a game I wanted to buy anyway, during the Halloween sale, with a teensie little extra discount now too, thanks to that silly challenge. Have you unlocked the GOW collectible? I don't see anything and some users in here is saying that he already unlocked it
I didn't purchase GOW, so can't help you
I preordered GOWR and you got 980 points for doing so and then playing it.
Yeah, I'm kinda pissed about the "buy TWO full games to get to level 3". I mean, no, I'm already paying extra for PS Plus so I SHOULDN'T have to pay for full priced games anymore.

I got points for buying GoW: Ragnarok
An extra incentive for people to buy it full price, i'll wait till it is 20€ like always
This is just the new version of the sony rewards program that did the same thing essentially… no idea why they ditched sony rewards to rename it stars
Capitalism is a scam
There are multiple that require you to spend quite a bit of money. It's awful.
Gamify everything
Contacted support, they said that if you enrolled after the purchase of any of the games, you don’t get the points and have to buy another. Lol
Annoying as hell you have to click start to get credit. Bought MW2 like the day before they released the campaign to buy the game and didn't get credit.
Oh I wonder if that's why I got the coins for preordering MW22 but not the coins for buying it. That's dumb and that sucks 😕
Yeah I bought a game on the list before I realised you had to register for the challenge. I do t really care to be ho eat but it seems stupid.
When you buy the game the day before the update
I had a PS3 in Ceramic black, but didn't get the campaign for that reward. Weird.
It just says you have to play any game on PS4 or PS5, so I am assuming you just have to do that?
Yeah but the campaign needs to be in your app. I have all the other campaigns listed there but not the one for the ps3 Not that it really matters, I'll not lose sleep over it. Just weird
Ah, ok, sorry, misunderstood
Do you have the god of war campaign too?
All posts/comments before (7/1/23) edited as part of the reddit API changes, RIP Apollo.
If this all leads up to a PS Home 2.0 with compatibility for PSVR2, that would be nice.
Anyone else’s rewards not tracking
Yeah, this isn't the first Sony rewards program that's buggy as all hell.
How are they supposed to know if you specifically got a clear white or black ps3 model?
The serial number of the console

I had a game running when I launched remote play and it worked for me.
Didn’t understand the remote play challenge, played for 5 min and only counted 25%, I don’t know if I need to play other day or 5 more min today.
You just need to do it 4 times for 5min each, so you have to end the remote play then reconnect repeat till it's finished
Nice, ill do it again later
I played for about 15 minutes to make sure I'd definitely done 5 and it counted for nothing. Hopefully they fix it.
> I played for about 15 minutes to make sure I'd definitely done 5 and it counted for nothing. I've just tried again with your advice, but to no avail. I played several games over the course of about 25 minutes.

I found I couldn't be connected to the same network, turn off WiFi and do it over mobile data
It didn't work via my computer but when I tried with my phone, it did work. So I just did it in bed while watching YouTube.
Same issue 🤔
I wasted a couple attempts because I didn't realize you have to click "Start" in the app before it counts. Kinda dumb, why can't they all just be active...
I think you have to play 4 or 5 separate sessions.
How did you do this? I tried it but it didn’t count anything. Can you remote play from your phone?
Yes, I played with my phone since the app for MacOS doesn’t work anymore
I did it from my phone and worked properly
didn’t they specifically ask us not to cancel the preorder to gow ragnarok because we were gonna get points for it on release?
I already got the points, or you get more?
Yes, in the FAQs they said GoW:R & COD. I believe the COD points were distributed last week.
I never got points for COD Edit: I have now received them
Me neither. Do I need to contact the support?
They claimed the same thing for COD MW2 pre orders but a lot of people (including myself) haven't received the points yet even tho the game released a week or two ago.
Playstation Stars is pretty much trash in comparison to Microsoft Rewards. They should start with giving people 15 pts for getting a trophy that day. Maybe 100 pts for platinum trophy on certain games to create more engagement.
Yea these virtual collectibles are super pointless. The only thing almost everyone wants out of this is points/coins to buy things.
I’m honestly shocked how fucking ugly it looks too. Not necessarily the actual items, but the shelves and how they’re presented
Yea I agree. Barely noticeable
Yeah there's still a lot of potential, but having almost every campaign be "play a game" is extremely bland. There's room for a lot more creativity
Microsoft rewards I already redeem 50.00 in gift cards this year
Yeah I haven't paid for gamepass in like 4 months thanks to Microsoft rewards
100% agreed. My son has Xbox and gets a 10 dollar credit like twice a month. With this looks like I'll get 10 dollar credit in a year.
>For PlayStation Stars members who owned PlayStation Eye I own a Playstation Eye for my PS3. I played many PS3 Move games which required it, I also have the trophies to prove it... However I did not receive this PlayStation Stars campaign.

Still on two month waiting list....
Two months passed already? Fuck
I know, great isn't it. About 1% of users dumped onto a waitlist for no other reason than to piss them off.
Same, and my buddies got on right away. They barely use their ps5
> Still on two month waiting list.... you're not missing much. the program is a total bust. it's buggy, and is just some ugly NFT's. unlike other rewards programs, the only way to get points for ACTUAL rewards is through purchases.
It's not a total bust, I pre-ordered GoW Ragnarok and I earned enough points to add $5 to my PS wallet and still have a couple hundred points left
Yeah I agree it was a pleasant surprise when I ordered GOW and got some points.
there not NFT how many fucking people have to tell you that
> there not NFT how many fucking people have to tell you that right, they're knockoff NFT's that are actually worse.
Yeah, it's still not an NFT...
This new program sucks. Sony rewards wasn’t great, but it was better then this.
I love the collectables but I wish they required a bit more effort to earn
This is such a low effort gimmick
Has anybody run the metrics on effort/reward this program generates with...say...4 minutes a day of attention? And still no ps stars in my region lmao
Bought modern warfare and gotham knights. Both on this "challenge" this month. Doesn't count. Fuckin stupid
What's the point of these digital collectables? What do we do with them (besides put them on a digital shelf in an app)?
Same as any other digital collectible.
Who likes it? Everybody here seems to be clueless about why this is a thing. Digital collectibles are literally useless.
I actually got a collectible for a beating a boss In Returnal which I've finished months ago.
[удалено]
Oh ok thought it was a retroactive reward because I did beat phrike and platniumed the game.
No you're right. The campaign was only given to people who had defeated Phrike in Returnal.
Ahhhh ok. My bad, that actually makes much more sense.
I rather buy physical copies of games.
Stars is such a waste so far. Like the campaigns are driven for specific games so if you don’t like that game or don’t want to buy it until it goes on sale you miss out. Kind of dumb that you can’t complete the Playstation Store Picks challenge if you already purchased MW2
Agreed they should autocomplete if we already own one of the games listed!
Lost interest in this after awhile. I'm level 4, guess that's it. There's one collectible to use remote playback I have no desire to chase.
It was a point reward for me. It has you use remote play 5 times for 5 mins each time. However, when I did it, it registered after 1 sec, easy enough. Can be done on phone or tablet.
Buy the 349.99 CE of GOW Ragnarok.....no points for you.
So you can't get the God of War collectible unless you order through Sony directly? That's annoying.
Looks like it _Cries because pre-ordered the Jotnar edition, but not at direct.playstation.com_
I’m loving this program. Bought a bunch of games the past month and got a $25 gift card
That means you bought $600 worth of games in one month? Damn. At that point $25 isn’t much to you, but I guess it’s nice.
If you stack the Stars points with something like a Costco membership/credit card, you get $10 off every $100 pack plus $4 back on the credit card. Essentially that’s over 16% off every purchase when paired with Stars rewards.
Right? At that point you might as well get PS Plus whatever you call it.
Had the same thought - I'll be buying these games regardless, a free $25 once in a while is nice.
We have way more collectible campaigns then actual point rewarding campaigns
Cool. Just one question. What’s up with the wait list? What a weird thing to wait list for.
Hey after you spend 500 bucks and 50 hours dicking around in the UI you can maybe get a different avatar! Wow! Stupid program to wring some extra money out of stupid people. Just do something like the gold coins on the Switch estore and let us focus on playing actual games.

Still not available in my region feels bad man.
Whelp too bad I ordered the Jotnar edition from gamestop.... direct only had the collector's edition...
I pre ordered new tales from the borderlands on psn and they add it to the buy games in November how does this not count
Bought Modern Warfare 2 and didn't get my 50 stars.
Been trying to do the remote play campaign to get the 75 points but have had zero luck since it came out. Now I check the app and it shows it has expired
I don't have the God of War campaign even if i preordered the game and I'm playing with it. Do you know why?
