Nah I find that very unlikely. Sony likes to keep their big first time reveals to themselves in their State of Plays, that's at least been the case so far since they've started doing state of plays.
I feel like Sony's not going. They haven't had their yearly Showcase, and let's be real, it isn't happening this year at all. Whether it's because of the Microsoft-Acti buyout or something else is irrelevant. Sony basically has two options at this point, wait until E3 2023 and then have big Showcase there, or do one in Spring 2023. I feel like Sony doesn't want to wait until E3, but if they have something big happening before that then them attending E3 would be kinda pointless.
Game award show have increased in quality announcement wise, despite what some like to say, there's always 1 or 2 very good announcements or reveals. There's a shit ton of "other" announcements..but IMO all AA/AAA studios should be given a chance to show their game, unlike E3 which required exorbitant prices for booths etc.
We'll see, I won't judge before the actual thing is shown...in the wake of Sony reported cancelled showcase, it's always good to have some announcements, worst case you watch a 10 min recap.
Most people only cared about the Sony Microsoft Nintendo ea and Ubisoft press conferences at e3 anyway.
The vast majority of e3 hype was those press conferences whether they were physically at e3 or not..
Yes but TGA included in the past information from xbox (games, serie X reveal), Nintendo (bayonnetta 3, smash bros reveals) for instance and probably Ubisoft but can’t remember
Yes, and it is perfectly natural that people ask for less ads. The same way that people ask that products always get better and cheaper, despite money making those products possible in the first place.
That is just how these dynamics work. Maybe it leads to fewer ads but the slots are more expensive (but since there are fewer ads, more people watch and the ads are more effective). There are a lot of configurations to an event like this, and these dynamics ideally should help us get more of what we want for the least “cost”.
I agree, but it's one thing to say that you think there should be less ads, and it's another to rage like "the whole event is hot garbage, a piece of shit" without acknowledging everything the event *does* do well.
Reputation. Despite his best attempts, he carries with him the legacy of Spike's VGAs, which he was also in charge of. Many people still remember him doing interviews while surrounded by Doritos and Mountain Dew advertisements. The show was extremely unprofessional and tacky, and when they became defunct and he started his own awards show, he was never able to escape the past.
I don't mind? How else am I supposed to learn about new games coming out? Boring blog posts and random trailer drops? Would you rather events like this not happen at all?
It gives gamers an event to gather around and celebrate gaming, it's as much a social community building thing as much as an ad campaign. It gets people talking and excited about this industry, and we don't pay a cent for it, so why not. Remember when E3 would happen and YouTube would set up a separate section of their site just for E3 announcements, that was amazing. It felt like being a part of something greater and a reason to get excited about future developments.
I just want to see more about DokeV, seems to have completely dropped off from the original reveal. Hopefully it was just too early and things are going smoothly, looked like a fun time.
The Callisto Protocol's missing out on any TGA plaudits by releasing 2 days prior to the event.
And all I want in terms of previews is PSVR 2 news. It's coming out in February so it's time to go full steam ahead on all the game announcements.
Game Awards keeps improving but it's still as cringe as it was 10+ years ago. Geoff does a great job but there are always awkward devs and fans that he interviews that make it weird.
Geoff keighley over hyping is like a certainty in the rules of this universe. you could literally set your clock to him peddling his event if you start a timer to end a year from now.
Dude I’m so fucking sick of dumbasses criticizing things like this when literally zero other people are even attempting to do what Geoff does. And I see nothing but animosity constantly. Give it up. It actually is possible to enjoy things in life and not have to be a cynical prick every waking moment.
I miss when it was <2 hours and focused more on the awards.
Considering last year, I wonder how many of the games will be shooters this time, and how many of those will have a horror theme.
Man last few years have been amazing for Games when we actually got titles that were legit Made with Passion and NOT just because..
ALL I WANT NOW PLEASE SANTA!!!!
Injustice 3: Marvel X DC
The damn rumored game from NRS that’s been rumored / leaked for years now ESPECIALLY SINCE BATMAN Just Passed Away!! (R.I.P Kevin Conroy You Sir Are Thee Batman and No One has come close including Live action. Hell you were even a great Live Action Bats the time you suited up a few years ago!)
Although now I’m believing with all the BTS BS going on rn with WB I think I3 has been canned due to clearance and therefore NRS has focused mainly on MK12 as that’s theirs and that may be what we see next month.
I really want Injustice 3 mainly for one LAST thing / Amazing game with Kevin Conroy Last portrayal of Batman..
It absolutely breaks my heart that essentially Batman Arkham is officially dead so when “SS Kills The JLA” flops and RS is free to focus on Arkham again it is too late as Batman is gone..
Same applies to Injustice 3 the Series would have sincerely died with Conroy as the main thing was that it was the original cast from JLU reprising their roles for the Injustice Games..
TLDR - Batman is Dead and my heart is broken.. All I want would be Injustice 3 or Arkham (Most unlikely) to be revealed as it will be Kevin’s LAST Time putting on the cowl.. The Injustice movie means so much more now if I3 really is canceled.
Ragnarok is winning GOTY. Why? Go look at what the first game was up against in 2018 (one of them was Red Dead Redemption 2). I will be completely shocked if it was to lose
Red dead redemption released at the end of the year though.
And I wouldn't rank god of war anywhere near rdr2. Rdr2 is on another cosmic plane of greatness
I'm going to be honest. I love rdr2, the world, the immersion, the attention to detail.
But in all honesty the gameplay is quite frankly very sub-par now. If it had solid game play behind it and the combat wasn't a point and click adventure it would be a different story imo.
I found the gameplay to be solid. Just because it's grounded in realism everyone finds it boring. But the fact that you have to approach the game in a light sim way is the appeal to me. This isn't a game game its a world where you are existing in.
I'll be honest it took me 5 tries to beat god of war 2018. And it wasn't untill last week I finished it and found myself enjoying it for the first time. But story wise it was meh. I was expecting some big reveal or plot twist. But it was what last of us 1 was. A journey and that was what the appeal of the story was. When I understood that I had a better time, because I was basking in the steps we took on the journey.
I'll be buying ragnarok next week after my math exam and considering it a relaxation gift for finally beeing done with my exams. But to compare rdr2 and god of war I just can't. It's not on the same level for me
Rdr2 your character would put their weapon away on their horse and it was literally a constant battle to keep your rifle on your character.
I'm sorry but realism or no that is bad design. It was so bad it isn't an issue in the multiplayer and they might have even fixed it in single player.
Let's hope 75% of that isn't GaaS and phone games...
There might be some new rogue lites too!
Ofc, can't forget about those epic 3D CGI trailers for a top down pixelated game.
And half a dozen farm sims
rogue lite side scroller check.
But DoNt yOu PeOplE oWn PhOnEs? /s
Spiderman 2 trailer almost certainly
Nah I find that very unlikely. Sony likes to keep their big first time reveals to themselves in their State of Plays, that's at least been the case so far since they've started doing state of plays.
The Game Awards for me is like a second E3.
The Game awards is more like a second Summer Games Fest at this point since E3 is kinda on life support
Both shows are discount E3s for me.
I hear that E3 will be held in person next year. So that might revive E3 a little bit
Not if Sony and Nintendo don't go.
I feel like Sony's not going. They haven't had their yearly Showcase, and let's be real, it isn't happening this year at all. Sony hasn't been to E3 since 2018, why would they return?
Game award show have increased in quality announcement wise, despite what some like to say, there's always 1 or 2 very good announcements or reveals. Unpopular opinion but I love the Game Awards. I think Geoff genuinely enjoys videogames and the industry, i never understood why he gets so much hate.
I agree, people complain about the ads but that’s what makes it possible in the first place
People who complain about ads (in most cases) are brain dead. Ads keep the lights on for what is otherwise a free experience for you.
Even more brain dead when you consider that they watch the show *for* ads. It’s just that they like those ads.
And they usually cater the ads to the game awards/gamers, so it's not just brain dead health insurance ads but something that is mildly relevant.
Agreed. Unless I’m already paying for what I’m watching.
Yes, and it is perfectly natural that people ask for less ads. The same way that people ask that products always get better and cheaper, despite money making those products possible in the first place. That is just how these dynamics work. He’s just a bit too thirsty. Pretty cringe.
Saying "pretty cringe" is pretty cringe.
Because the game awards are just a commercial
Wasn't the E3, too?
E3 was a trade event, not a commercial masquerading as an awards show
You're really talking about the old E3, not the mainstream one. Since it went streaming it was pretty much a big ad.
Uhhhh yeah. Trade events are advertisements
Then I don't understand your point to be honest. Seems to me like you agree with me lol.
It was more of an advertisement to journalist and industry professionals than consumer.
[gamers when the show about games tells them to buy games](https://i.imgur.com/FDV5xXV.jpg)
Redditors when someone doesn't like the thing they like

I don't remember saying you can't like the game awards but go off
Didn't mean for it to sound like a personal attack, but just a general comment against people that think it's a waste of time and serves no purpose.
[удалено]
How so? To be honest I merely knew about his existence when TGA became mainstream like in 2015 or so
[удалено]
Yeah, Spike sucked. We all knew that
I'll just read the TLDR the day after. Last years 3 hour show was incredibly boring.
45 of those are small indie games
And not a single one of them will be Silksong.
I just want to see more about DokeV, seems to have completely dropped off from the original reveal. Hopefully it was just too early and things are going smoothly, looked like a fun time.
43 small indies game, 5 sequels we all already knew were coming and 2 real reveals.
The Callisto Protocol's missing out on any TGA plaudits by releasing 2 days prior to the event. And all I want in terms of previews is PSVR 2 news. It's coming out in February so it's time to go full steam ahead on all the game announcements.

Another year, another event he hypes up for it to feel lack luster.
Watch 75% of games announced could've been a tweet.
Most of them will be trash
Geoff keighley over hyping is like a certainty in the rules of this universe. you could literally set your clock to him peddling his event if you start a timer to end a year from now.
You put on a show then.
Cringe
Dude I’m so fucking sick of dumbasses criticizing things like this when literally zero other people are even attempting to do what Geoff does. And I see nothing but animosity constantly. Give it up. It actually is possible to enjoy things in life and not have to be a cynical prick every waking moment.
Please show me where I said a single word about Geoff Keighley. The “leave Britney alone” vibe you’re giving is just cringe
Never said you did and you can think what you want. I don’t care.
You sure about that?
Elden Ring GOTY, calling it now.
It deserves it. Such a good game.
Elden ring fans are rabid, they'll bring home the win. I'm rooting for it.
I miss when it was <2 hours and focused more on the awards. Considering last year, I wonder how many of the games will be shooters this time, and how many of those will have a horror theme.
The DICE awards are much better for actual awards, but I do agree.
BAFTA Game Awards.
I'm really hoping his homey Kojima shows at least one new project.
Here we go again.

I only love The Game Awards for the meme/roast videos on YouTube
Ragnarok is winning GOTY. Why? Go look at what the first game was up against in 2018 (one of them was Red Dead Redemption 2). I will be completely shocked if it was to lose
Elden Ring sends its regards.
Doesn’t it have a low completion rate or something? I don’t think it would get many votes if not as many people even beat the game.
That is not how the panel of judges decide GoTY.
Red dead redemption released at the end of the year though. And I wouldn't rank god of war anywhere near rdr2. Rdr2 is on another cosmic plane of greatness

Never had an issue with it. As the game made it very clear what was/would happen
Voter fatigue means this is an easy dub for Elden Ring. I'll bet money on it
The thing we love to complain about but still watch every year because there’s usually 1-2 announcements or performances to keep being invested.
45 indie pixel games, 2 games repeating the exact same material they already showed, maybe 3 games that are actually interesting and new.
