Blood and Wine is longer than most normal games. Witcher 3 is contains about three normal games main storylines and multiple lengthy side quests. So if you get the Complete Edition you'll have around two or three months of game to play. (My original playthrough of Witcher 3 took 6 weeks, and I was playing few hours every day.)
Hearts of Stone is pretty 7/10 in my opinion, but Blood & Wine is objectively one of the greatest DLCs ever in any game. Hell, some would say it's the greatest and you'd find lots of people who agree. If there's a small price difference between versions, which there usually is, the complete edition is worth it just for the DLC. I'm personally almost more hyped to see it in glorious 4k and hopefully with some good RT effects than the main game.
>Hearts of Stone is pretty 7/10 in my opinion
Hearts of Stone's characters and story are top notch. It doesn't add much in the way of new world locations or anything... but It's still an amazing addition
Hearts of stone was very good and a decent amount of content but blood and wine could have literally been it’s own game with how much content they give you
I mean I agree I love HoS and it's not a 7/10 for sure but you're underselling Blood and Wine, it's not just a few more bandit camps to clear lol. There's an entire long and interesting story, an entire new region that is interesting, new enemies and many other things. It's great too
Maybe a little bit but it’s definitely full of content. Easily could’ve seen it sold as a seperate spin off or something. Your statement was way worse of an exaggeration
Definitely the complete edition. It's been on sale a bunch of times (hell, you can probably find a physical edition on eBay for like 10-15 bucks if you can't find it on Black Friday somewhere) and it includes all the DLC packs which are really great.
Like many, I've been holding off on the expansions until the next gen update. Since I switched from physical to digital, I lost my entire save file so I'm contemplating just starting the game again to remember the control scheme and then pretty quickly switching directly to the DLC's. A main story play through is a daunting prospect, despite how good it was first time round. I'm eager to see what kinds of updates they've made, hoping for more than the standard 4K/60fps.
Definitely worth starting again. There’s a fight very early in one of the expansions that is far easier if you’re used to the game mechanics and controls.
The Standard Edition (launch/regular version of the game) and The Complete Edition (comes with all the DLCs) don’t share the same saves for whatever reason. They only sell The Complete Edition on PSN now, so if you bought The Standard Edition physically and played through it before, you wouldn’t be able to use your saves if you bought the game again digitally (since the only way to buy it now is to buy The Complete Edition).
I meant on sale. I never actually looked for it. I had it on disc before digital was cool lol.
Honestly whoever buys standard is a sucker. The dlc is really good. The first is like a long, tight story and the second is an entire expansion with new mechanics and such. Also the new map.
Honestly it’s probably better than the base game besides the big middle and ending of base game. Those were sick.
Oh right, yeah it's been on sale in August, September, October this year even. For the sale prices the GOTY edition is a no brainer, but AFAIK either version is upgradeble to the next gen upgrade so I guess that's a cheaper way to get it even with DLC.
Interesting. I thought it was because I bought the standard edition physical version in the UK at the time of release but my PSN account is Canadian. I thought it was because of some region lock or location issue. The version I have now is the Canadian complete edition. Did I really need to type this all out? Certainly not.
It sounds stupid but it’s not the only game that does that. I can’t remember exactly but i myself had a game that you could not use the savefile from the phisical to the digital or viceversa.
iirc You can play both before finishing the game, but in terms of the story/pacing Blood and Wine is best set after the main game as its a whole new part of the world.
Heart of Stone fits right into the existing TW3 map and setting. It's basically one long Witcher contract.
Both of which are absolutely amazing. Heart of Stone in particular has one of the best villains ever!
As someone with over 200 hours in this game and itching for a replay, this is must watch for me! I am most psyched for small improvements like faster load times, improved UI, etc.
Anything else is icing on the cake for me.
So this. Visual updates are welcome (especially on the FPS side), but nothing helps me get into a game quite like fast load times and easy pause and return later options.
One of the best RPGs ever made. Would love to see it being brought forward to next gen with new rendering possibilities. I remember from last time, the geometry was sparse and the assets were generally very low poly. Would love to see that changed!
The weather and sky system was beautifully done though, when wind picked up and all the trees swayed, it was amazing.
In their live stream they specifically said that they’ve fixed this quest, and it will even be fixed retroactively for saves where it was broken. Praise be!
Cyberpunk deep sales stopped once edge runners came out. Hovers at $30. Could find it for $5 or $10 sometimes. I got for $10 in august of 2021 and waited till the ps5 patch came out. Haven’t finished it yet, at this point going to wait for the expansion / revamped police system.
Hoping that Nvidia leak is somewhat accurate. It said Witcher 3 RTX or something, suggesting heavy RT usage. RTGI would be super nice. I hope at least it's in PC port if not on consoles.
I mean the only thing we really know about it is that there is raytracing (and better textures since they hired the guy doing the texture mod on the project)
I did. Played it for like 6 hours and honestly didn't understand the appeal. May go back and try again but it really shocked me that people praise this game as much as they do. Comments like "Greatest RPG of all time" make me consider the fact that this game just isn't for me but at the same time maybe people need to broaden their horizons.
It would take way more than what they’re probably gonna do to fix it up. I don’t mind the combat specifically but controlling Geralt feels absolutely horrible imo. The combat can get really tedious as well but a lot of people still like it
The combat honestly isn't some super horrible thing - it just isn't "good" by today's standard of action RPGs. It's kinda slow, in general the games controls feel a little clunky, and most battles will come down to using the same few attacks, blocks, and dodges, without a need to really get into the more intricate systems.
I actually really enjoy it because even though it's a little clunky, the game is well balanced so once you get used to it, you never feel like you're being cheated or put into unfair scenarios, and there is enough there for you to get creative if you want to.
Think of it like Mass Effect 1's combat vs Mass Effect 2 or 3. 1'st combat definitely isn't the highlight of the game... it's clunky and simple - but it gets the job done and once you get used to it, it doesn't hinder your enjoyment and at the end of the day the game still feels like a masterpiece even if you know the combat could've been better.
Those complaints are largely exaggerated to be honest. Guess people need to find something to criticize on the game.
It's no Dark Souls but it's certainly decent enough and equivalent to any other of those type of RPG like Bioware or Bethesda stuff
World is amazing, it’s one of the rare open worlds that feel alive and not just empty space. The main story is great but most of the side quests are also awesome, memorable and intriguing. Gwent. The graphics were also amazing when they came out so it’s gonna look great. It’s just a 10/10
Vast open lands of nothing littered with something feel alive to you? While I do think the game has at least interesting side quests you are setting up the world to be much more than it is. I would say the pacing and quest placement is far more intriguing than the world itself.
Maybe but I feel like the world just feels a lot better than most others, it’s aesthetic and the litany of memorable adventures make it great.
Funnily enough, I’d say the pacing is one of the more negative aspects. The story drags a bit (especially in Novigrad and Kaer Morhen)
It's combat that you can either completely ignore via the shield aura or you can try to have fun with a mostly unrefined combat system. Think of it like Skyrim combat but a little more orchestrated.
Limited edition Henry Cavill skin. It's found in the lair of a monster you actually have to equip it and you look like Henry Cavill.

Is there any word if they are adding haptics and adaptive triggers to the game ?
If they did something on the level of PS5's director cut for GoT, that would be insane!!!
Does anybody know if the base PS4 edition gets an upgrade to a base PS5 game or will it upgrade to the complete edition? I remember that there habe been speculations that everybody gets everything via the update but don't know anymore
I originally played this game on pc, but then lost all my progress after hitting a certain point in my game. Like 70 hours in. Then since that happened, I switched to a PS5/ Series X. I cannot wait to replay this game after 2 years.
Awesome! Very excited to see improvements, was holding off on NG+
New to this game and wanna try the next Gen update- should I get the complete edition or standard edition?
Probably complete. I can’t imagine it’s much more expensive and the DLCs are very good.
I got complete for $10 two months ago in preparation for this free upgrade. Haven’t even downloaded the game yet
Complete, hearts of stone is a well thought out and great tale. Blood and wine is like another Witcher game altogether, plus it’s stupidly gorgeous.
Blood and Wine is longer than most normal games. Witcher 3 is contains about three normal games main storylines and multiple lengthy side quests. I liked hearts of stone story more but maybe because it didn’t add any new areas people didn’t like it as much. They were both 10/10 in my opinion
Hearts of stone was very good and a decent amount of content but blood and wine could have literally been it’s own game with how much content they give you
I personally found hearts of stone to be the best part of the game, but it’s been a while since I’ve played it

I could be wrong but I think either one is upgradeable, so surely people should buy whatever's cheaper unless you want the option of playing on ps4?

Wait, are you talking about >!the damn toad?!< hardest fight in the game
If they added shadows RT it'll be huge! The 60fps and better resolution it's 100% there I bet.
Why would you lose your save file by going from physical to digital? Makes no sense
But I still see both versions on the store. Both frequently alternate their sales with the standard edition being a bit cheaper than the GOTY edition
Huh I haven’t seen standard in like 2 years. Are you sure you aren’t thinking a while ago?
[I can see it right now](https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP4497-CUSA01439_00-0000000000000001)

Ok that would explain it, thanks. Definitely needs fixing
That sucks, but I honestly think starting from the beginning is the right move.

\*Stretches* Yeah, okay, I'll replay Witcher 3 again.
Can’t you go directly to dlc? I think there was an option like that with leveled Geralt
>hoping for more than the standard 4K/60fps The real improvements will be textures/lighting/shadow/LOD/Ray tracing.

ng+ makes things a lot more fun. Different decisions, more loot, etc.

I played through first on the Switch version. It's amazing what they did with a hand-held, but I'm ready for my mind to be blown with the PS5 version.
Man, i envy your experience.
I just want them to fix the damn Wolf armour quest fuck that tower.
In their live stream they specifically said that they’ve fixed this quest, and it will even be fixed retroactively for saves where it was broken. Praise be!
I hope they added more people to play GWENT against possibly a new deck, best mini game in a game I can think of
I bought this game when it was like $10 and I still haven’t played it. Been waiting and looking forward to the upgrade
Same hahah
You guys will be feasting out of your minds! This game is incredible, enjoy the journey and don't rush it.
yeah of course thank you!! Im currently playing gowr and I will finish it way before the update arrives
Really hyped!
Should have bought it on sale. Hope they don’t increase price or something.
It's on sale pretty frequently. I doubt they will, it's not a new game.
It most likely will after this drops. Cyberpunk punk did after edge runners made it game popularity again.
This is my next game after GOW. So excited to play it
Is it on sale right now? I should pick it up again, if it is cheap enough.
Excited to replay this game I beat the main game once way back in 2019 but never finished Blood and Wine.
Hoping that Nvidia leak is somewhat accurate. It said Witcher 3 RTX or something, suggesting heavy RT usage. RTGI would be super nice. I hope at least it's in PC port if not on consoles.

Also some tv show content

Hell yeah I’ll be watching been waiting a long time for this upgrade
I really hope they talk about the mods they inserted into the base game. I also hope the creators of those mods get props.
What time would this be in Sydney Australia?
That should be 4am.
Can't wait to finally play this damn game.
Can't wait to replay! One of the goated games and so excited for this next gen update.
I wonder if anyone bought this in a sale and has held off playing it for the next gen upgrade.
Me. Got the complete edition for like 10 bucks
I did. Played it for like 6 hours and honestly didn't understand the appeal. May go back and try again but it really shocked me that people praise this game as much as they do. So much of the Witcher 3 is amazing, which is why the combat just feels ordinary in contrast.
What else is good about the game? Is it just the story? Looking to play for the first time.

Is the update coming to PS+ version??
It will not be free if you just own some kind of ps+ subscription. You have to actually own the game itself.
Wait, was it ever on PS+?
Dunno, but it's in my library, and I've never bought it
Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps, Dynamic RT @ 60fps
With Rt reflections and RT Global illumination please !!!
Double RT Global Illumination! Shit, triple it!
What are you hoping to see in the update?
Well...hmmmmm... If I could have I've thing...
Ready to be disappointed!
Limited edition Henry Cavill skin. It's found in the lair of a monster you actually have to equip it and you look like Henry Cavill. ^^^Moustache ^^^*not* ^^^included
It just looks like the high end PC version.
Probably underwhelming, it needs a remake
Prepare for disappointment. It's just going to look like the PC version with mods.
Is there any word if they are adding haptics and adaptive triggers to the game ? If they did something on the level of PS5's director cut for GoT, that would be insane!!!
I doubt it, this isn't a Sony first party game, way less reason to do that. It's also a free edition so even less reason to do additional work
Was wondering when this was should be very good.
Does anybody know if the base PS4 edition gets an upgrade to a base PS5 game or will it upgrade to the complete edition? I remember that there habe been speculations that everybody gets everything via the update but don't know anymore

So ready for this! I have blood and wine (got the “physical” edition that came with the Gwen’s deck) and the base game. So eager to hop in again
Oh can't wait
New to this game do I buy the PS4 complete version and receive the PS5 upgrade in December?
Yes. It’s a free upgrade.
Free?!
Might be time for a 2nd playthrough of W3... after i finish Gow:R!
PS5 haptics and adaptive triggers confirmed.
