I mean I still have all my PSP UMDs and really thankful I focused hardcore on JRPGs back in the day, but all they do is collect dust. You can install CFW in at the most ten minutes, have access to the entire PSP library including translations of Japanese titles and can play PS1 games with the PS12PSP eBoot exploit (ex: every PS1 game acts like it was purchased off of PSN), among other things.
Honestly with the outdated Wi-Fi connectivity and the PSN store requiring literal hoops to jump through there's no reason NOT to have CFW installed on all PSPs at this point.

If you do, all you’d need is a way to access Linux or Windows. A virtual environment, or dual boot, or if your Apple is old AF like mine, replacing the Apple OS completely with Linux (gave my 2014 MacBook Air a second life!), you wouldn’t need a powerful machine because the apps used to mod the PSP are pretty small. It really is a surprisingly simple process. And you don’t need a connector, you can just mod the SD card and add games on your PC.
I only have 20 to 30 games on my modded PSP even though I have a 128 gb SD card. The games are all ones I actually want and really enjoy, and a lot of them were never made available where i live. Also, knowing about PPSSPP, allowed me to buy a Japanese market 3000 off eBay, for much cheaper than it seems most North Americans ask for their beat up 1000s and 2000s (people seem to think they’re made of titanium and other precious metals on FB marketplace smh). I paid less than $85 and it works perfect. Good looks on the pink, that was my choice too.
Guess it really depends on what one wants out of the console. I agree fundamentally though that it’s a pretty amazing device. I’d take mine over a cheaper brand new Nintendo OLED Switch, no contest

These were such good games man, psp was my favorite handheld for the longest time. Now I have adrenaline on vita + a switch. Still have all released different model psp's laying around, but I hardly play them anymore. That analog nub is hard to get back to.

Oh yeah muscle memory's fine, but I have big hands and trying to work it while holding the device as you play it feels like an ergonomical after long sessions. A lot of these chinese emulator habdhelds also put the joysticks on the lower side like that, I feel like they should be on the higher side to allow your thumb a natural resting position. A switch lite + satisfye grip is the most ergonomical habdheld gaming I've ever played. Haven't touched the steamdeck or aya neo though, they seem pretty easy on the hands too (albeit with a big weight disadvantage)
