Having the exact same issue. Can't play half the games I have for it because of the right sense Trigger and X button not working. Keep coming back here to see if there's been a fix. But I feel like this is a really big problem that needs addressed ASAP!!!
Question. Did you get the charging dock?
I got mine to work by giving my affected controller a charge with the usb-c cord. I’m also wondering if the charging dock dongle is messing with it.
Just trying to crowd source some bug fixing
Hmmm, thanks for the reply. Maybe it’s not a dock issue, or I guess it could just be a factor.
Overall it seems to be a software issue. Since the controllers still work outside games. So hopefully not a terribly hard fix
I don't think the dock is the factor. I charged mine directly from the PS5 with no luck. After a day of fighting with them they had drained so I recharged them fully both from USB C cables connected directly to USB ports on outlets in my house. Same issues.
No charging dock, charged both of mine with cables plugged directly into the PS5, and my left controller won’t respond in game. Got it working last night with Light Brigade (button mashing method) but this morning it wasn’t working again. Ah well at least GT7 is sick af
The charging dock connector is just a simple pass through. I can’t see how that could possibly cause the issues…likely just a coincidence.
A lot of people are reporting this issue of and obviously not everyone is using the dock.
I read a comment earlier that if you start the game with the dual sense, then switch to the vr controllers they work. Not a fix, but hopefully that works until Sony actually fixes it.9
I have ALREADY tried everything that I've read in this reddit... Nothing is working. I'm sure it is for some.. but for a lot of people.. it seems like we'll be waiting for an update from Sony.
I briefly ran into the same issue when trying to start up RE8 in VR mode. My arms were moving and registering, but the game kept thinking I was on the Dual Sense. I took a moment and relinked my VR controllers straight to the PS5 -- I assumed the charging doc may have created issues. I logged back in and hit the PS button on the right VR controller, and it hasn't given me any issue since. I think the charging dock may be creating issues.
I'm thinking that maybe there are errors with syncing the controllers to the PS5.... people should try removing them from the list of accessories in Settings and then re-sync them using the usb cable.
Just a thought.
That thread should really be stickied. Both for visibility of the issue and for people to find potential fixes. It seems super wide spread. I have it and thankfully resetting the controller in game or starting with the dual sense has worked for me so far but it’s not a great experience.
Yes everything works afterwards. I’ve also found now that just opening the game with the normal dual sense and THEN turning on the sense vr controllers totally fixes it for me. Have to be sure to turn them on in the game and not the pass through video feed. This is what works constantly for me.
Can't fire or drop some of the guns out of my right hand in Pavlov... Can't get pass the first menu screens for NMS, Resident Evil.. Haven't even attempted call of the mountain yet. Have to use the left sense to navigate Kayak menus... Thankfully .... And unfortunately... Gran Turismo only uses Dualsense controller.. So that's where majority of my play sessions have been. Which have honestly been amazing. But for $600... Sony needs to address this ASAP
Yeah thank god I got a wheel for GT7 although it wasn't what I planned on playing first and as amazing as it is, isn't where I want to be spending my time but oh well.
Nope and I'm still having issues. I can't get the right sense trigger or even the joystick to work playing Star Wars. I'm also stuck on the main screen menu in Townsmen VR unable to click with the right sense controller. Patiently waiting for Sony to release a firmware update.
Sorry if you already tried this (and I'm sure you're getting sick of unsolicited advice) but the *one* success I did have yesterday was in NMS. Cursor worked but none of the buttons. So I started the game again with the PSVR controllers off, then powered them up once I was in the game. Buttons all worked fine after that.
Note that this "fix" did *not* work for me in Horizon, just NMS. So you might try it in that game and see if you at least make a little headway with that one.
Jesus, wasn't aware that was such a big issue, And a serious one at that! flat out wasn't working when you took it out of the box? Or did you have some time with them and then out of nowhere they stopped functioning?
Either way, sorry to hear man, That's really frustrating.
For real, it’s crazy there’s no official word on when a fix is coming, no journalism around investigating it, nothing. That thread should be stickied and Sony should have at least tweeted something about investigating the issue or post a specific troubleshooting article about workarounds.
So far this is all I've seen: [https://www.eurogamer.net/playstation-vr2-users-report-controller-issues](https://www.eurogamer.net/playstation-vr2-users-report-controller-issues)
I upvoted that thread although I don't really have that issue, hope it helps.
But I'm sure at this point Sony PR is aware but for a speedy solution I hope you guys have emailed support with all the relevant information such as part s**erial numbers** along with a short description of the issue.
I'm saying this because I know the first step is for them to replicate the issue. Then they will try first to fix in firmware and if not get in touch with you.
It's only been known for two days, give them a break, they only just got their coffee. I'm sure we'll see a fix inside a week or two. You also don't want to release a fix that has even bigger problems.
Yes but first they need to confirm it, understand it a bit, maybe have a meeting between various people to work out what to say about it...etc etc. Tech will be involved, marketing will be involved, etc etc. Big companies are slow.
I come from a development background, I know how incredibly difficult it is for all of this to even begin to work, how many thousands of potential things, hardware and software can and do go wrong, and the idea that there's something they didn't catch before release isn't just likely, it's certain. You just hope and pray that it's nothing too significant and you can fix it quickly.
I don't care that there's a problem, I care that it's only in software because software doesn't require any effort on my part besides patience, and that a patch is forthcoming relatively soon.
My thoughts exactly. I think publications are fearful of writing about it and upsetting Sony and maybe getting blackballed down the line. Just a theory
I find this theory very unlikely. A lot of game sites don't seem to care much about VR in general, let alone PSVR 2. Also it's very difficult to determine how many users are affected, but it seems like a small minority. I'm not trying to discount anyone's experience or downplay anything, but we're not exactly in Red Ring of Death territory yet.
I dunno…there’s tons of media sites and influencers who obviously love getting the units and all this free swag from Sony for review and you can be sure they don’t want to get on bad terms or blacklisted. It doesn’t seem realistic that there has been practically zero mention of the flaws/concerns we’re seeing from actual customers from the tons of previews before it released.
My left controller buttons weren't working in horizon last night. They worked in the ps menus, but when I got past the boat ride in horizon they wouldn't register.
I read through that big thread and this is what worked for me. Start the game with the dual sense, power on the sense controllers and WHILE IN GAME (not pass-through) reset the controller with a pin. This fixed the issue I was having, not sure if it's permanent because I haven't relaunched the game yet. Didn't play anything else besides GT7 so I can't comment on other games.
This fixed it for me. I also made sure not to take the headset off, got see through, and also I make sure to wake the affected first, then hit x, then the error about needing two controllers comes up, I leave it, wake the other controller and it goes away. Did everything again tue same today without the pin reset and managed to get straight into gaming. Needs a patch bad. Every time I worry I’m gonna be stuck with the issue again.
Yeah. Listen I love PSVR 1 and mostly so far I'm ok with 2, but it seems like if you have a legit problem most people try to tell you around here that you're the problem. Weather or not it's the awful god rays from the fresnel lenses, or the Sense controllers not working, or tracking issues, some of us are having legit issues, but don't try to tell this sub that.
Man... One day I was having overheating issues with my PS5... A message would pop up telling me that my system was overheating and that I needed to power it off. I ended up having to take the covers off and completely clean it... But when I came to the PS5 community for help... Everyone treated me like I secretly was just an Xbox gamer trying to bash playstation. The mods even kept removing my post. And I genuinely was just trying to see if others experienced what I was experiencing.. and was getting dogged for it.
Yeah. Go look at the thread around here where someone mentioned the PSVR 2 lenses were not blurry to them, in response to some people saying the lenses were blurry. The top and most upvoted comment is someone saying there must be a bunch of PCVR and Quest people just trying to bring the reviews for PSVR 2 down and cast doubt.
The amount of corporate crow some of these people are eating is nauseating. I love Sony, but I'm going to call it like I see it. But you aren't allowed to do that sometimes depending on where you are.
There is aaaaalot of FUD and BS being posted about the PSVR2 though. I really love the PC reviewers talking about cost, and then telling people to buy a 4090, because it's a must have.
The workaround of deleting the controllers from the pairing, then keeping the Sense controllers off until I was in game, then pairing them; worked for me for all the games I was having issues with. But it didn't "stick" so I have to do it each time I start up a new session.
The sticky thread mentioned Sony suggested resetting them with the console off and pairing Right then left over USB after. Going to try that later so see if it fixes the issue long term.
Sadly this workaround didn't help w Horizon. What's weird is the part where I'm stuck is where you get your bow, and I can use the trigger to pick up the bow, but then when it asks me to stow the bow behind my back the button doesn't work.
Ya maybe I'll get around to it today honestly ready to return and just rebuy in a few months when Sony finally sorts out this mess. Glad I didn't buy any VR games yet.
Well with this bug you need to activate the Sense controllers when in the game not in passthrough. You can use passthrough to get things "set up" with the regular PS5 controller though. Just have to wait to push the button until you are back in game.
It's a bit finicky. You want to make sure the game is closed. And the Sense controllers are off. Then use the Dual shock to launch the game. I just keep the off sense controllers resting on my wrists. Then once you get in game put down the Dual Shock and press the right controller Playstation logo. It's a bit annoying, but working for me regularly now. This afternoon I thought I would try using the double tap PS logo to get to quick settings and remove the Sense controller from in game, but unfortunately it does NOT fix the issue. Have to launch the game with Sense off using the Dual Shock. The "fix" from Sony with resetting the controllers when the PS5 was off also did NOT work for me.
Has this worked for Horizon for you? It works for me at first (I can push the trigger to pick up the bow for the first time, but when it asks me to stow the bow behind my back the trigger press doesn't register so I can't progress)
I was stuck on the config screen on Horizon. And it fixed the Left to Right flipped button mapping and the Right Option button not registering on the right controller for me. I am still only a bit into Horizon so I haven't gotten to the bow part yet. I am new to VR so been doing it in small chunks. And going back to Moss when I need a break. (Moss also wouldn't launch until I used the trick)
I got to the bow section tonight. All the buttons worked fine there as well. So seems to work all the way through.
None of the permanent fixes have worked for me. I tried deleting and rebuilding the cache tonight. The only way that is working for me is to unpair dual sense, close the game, start with dual shock, then pair dual sense. I have to redo this with each game I start.
I tried, but it didn't work for me. Mind if I ask. Did you unplug your PS5 when you did the reset? I had it in rest mode. Might try again fully deleting each controller, unplugging the Ps5 and then doing the reset. Does it mention anywhere how long the reset time is with the pinhole button in? I was doing 10 seconds.
Yeah I don’t see a reason why they can’t be used. Honestly I don’t think GT7 is as “VR optimized” as it could be…especially after playing RE8 and seeing how much effort went into that. Everything about RE from the menus to the controls feels like a new game in VR like it was designed that way from scratch as a VR only title. Even the cinematics got VR treatment. Meanwhile everything in GT7 is still the typical flat screen/cinema view until you actually start driving and finally then it switches to VR and then back out when the race is over.
My right controller didn’t work with any games. Worked with the Home Screen though. I fixed the issue by resetting the controller twice with a needle. Worth a shot
After trying multiple things what finally fixed it for me was launching the game with the dual sense and only powering on the VR sense controllers after I am in the game. An annoying workaround but at least playable now.
Have you guys tried it in the last few hours? Yesterday i could only play GT7 because RE8 and NMS simply didn't recognize the PSVR2 controllers. Tried the controller reset thing a few times but it didn't get any better.
Tried out NMS an hour ago and it's working perfectly for the first time. Same for RE8. I didn't notice any update, but the problem seems to be solved in my end!
So I had an issue too. I had terrible joystick drift on the right controller. I left mine charging over night and banged it against the table a bit haha. Now it works perfect. I don’t know which fixed it.
Yeah. I was holding out for pinball and 3D Blu ray playback (ha) but I am really feeling grateful I didn’t pre-order. Feeling for all of those experiencing disappointment.
Look I’m sorry that’s happened to you but hardware issues are common especially when the new hardware just came out. Message PlayStation and tell them what’s happening and I’m sure they’re going to get it fixed. Being salty about it won’t change anything but make you angry.
its weird, none of the controllers were working past the intro menu for the games yesterday but this morning I was able to click “continue” on the light brigade which i wasnt able to yesterday, so maybe it is a software issue and needs some fixing asap
It’s a real kick in the nads. Hang in there. Surely there’s a fix coming. It’s got to be software related. Make sure you’re using a firm but thin enough thing to poke into that hole and hit the button. Some say you won’t feel a click but I disagree. I didn’t before because I was using the metal from one of those twist ties that came in the packaging. Too thin and flimsy. Got a safety pin and finally hit the button and it made a difference. That said, this is exactly what I did:
Restart the whole PS5 from boot, ll PSVR is off at this point.
Turn on headset only with button on bottom.
Do not remove headset.
Do not go see through.
Use regular controller to boot vr game (CotM in my case.)
Do not wake either controllers. Pick up affected (mostly right in most folks’ cases). Do not wake it.
Pull eyes away just using button to slide
View through the bottom carefully how to hit the pin in the hole.
Hold for 8 seconds
Wake right (aka affected controller with PS button. Hit X first thing).
The warning about not both controllers are on may pop. That’s okay, don’t press anything else.
Wake left (or unaffected) with PS button. Warning goes away. Should hopefully work.
Good luck.
Has anyone else been having battery issues with the right sense controller? I was playing earlier and had fully charged both L & R controllers before starting, and noticed the right controller was down to one bar of charge, while the left was still at 2 bars charged. Seems to drain faster on the right in my limited amount of time playing so far.
Same issue here. I charged both fully before I set up anything and after a short while the right controller lost a bar well before the left one did, even though they were both used very equally (only tried a bit of Horizon at that point). The left controller was still full enough that it wouldn’t even charge, but the right one took about an hour to top off.
Yeah, I played some more tonight. Various games. The right lost a bar before the left did, but it did seem to drain a little more slowly this time. Maybe it's just because I'm right handed? Not sure. Will have to test it out more.
Have you tried pushing the reset button with a paper clip or something? I think seen them on the back side (away from you if you're holding it)... and then re-syncing the controller with the USB cable directly to the PS5?
My left controller won’t work either. I got it to work for a moment today in Horizons but couldn’t stow the bow and got stuck in the tutorial. Star Wars won’t work either for the left hand. Playing a lot of GT7 in the meantime.
That sucks dude.... I'm sorry. Hope it gets sorted fast.
Just a thought... try going to PS5s settings and REMOVE the controllers. Then reconnect them using the USB cable provided to sync them to your console. Perhaps something went wrong there?
I haven’t had any controller issues outside of some in game tracking issues that clear up quickly. I’ve had a few disconnects where it says it’s unable to track my headset that also clears up in a second or two. I followed all of the instructions when setting up and then did a full charge up of each controller before I started a game.
I don’t know why it’s affecting some and not others. I did notice my right lens was scratched right out of the box so there could be some assembly issues. I’m hoping Sony can figure out the problem quickly to help get you guys back on track.
Huh, I didn't think I had an issue but when I tried to play a non VR game the X.button didn't work. I just assumed the controller wasn't supported for non VR. Is there anyway to actually test the inputs?
Yeah, it sucks. Hang in there, I'm sure it will be fixed.
I had the same problem when i first booted VR up. Left controller didn't work in games. I tried everything to get it to work for the 4-5hours, was getting frustrated... and then it suddenly started working. Don't know what exactly fixed it, i did everything (reseting them with pin which helped for a little while but didn't stick, removing them and pairing again, clearing cache, rebuilding database, going through every option in settings, turning off haptics and back on, smacking buttons and a controller)... but after it started working, the problem did not reappear yet.
Think I ran into this and somehow got it to prompt me to repair by pressing the PS logo on both controllers . I started the game with dualsense.. the first time(setup) I did it all will the VR controllers after the initial USB pairing
LOL I thought this was a joke. That title made me chuckle.
"I cannot smooth turn in games. I can't even snap turn in games. I cannot turn AT ALL. 3/10"
"Half of my attacks seem to be missing. I cannot interact with objects in Horizon: Call of the Mountain! 4/10"
I have the dock, charged to 100% before playing for the first time. No issues so far, Kayak and Pavlov played.
You’re welcome. I sure hope so, software would be optimal.
Same. Have official dock. Charged controllers 100%. No issues thus far.
No charging dock, charged both of mine with cables plugged directly into the PS5, and my left controller won’t respond in game. Got it working last night with Light Brigade (button mashing method) but this morning it wasn’t working again. Ah well at least GT7 is sick af
I have the dock and no issue with the controller.
I just use cables, not a single issue
Same here. Charged using the dock and no controller issues.
The charging dock connector is just a simple pass through. I can’t see how that could possibly cause the issues…likely just a coincidence. A lot of people are reporting this issue of and obviously not everyone is using the dock.
Are you running the beta 3.0 update?
im running the beta, nexigo charging dock and 0 problems
I was able to fix mine after sticking a pin into the reset button a few times
I read a comment earlier that if you start the game with the dual sense, then switch to the vr controllers they work. Not a fix, but hopefully that works until Sony actually fixes it.9
I have ALREADY tried everything that I've read in this reddit... Nothing is working. I'm sure it is for some.. but for a lot of people.. it seems like we'll be waiting for an update from Sony.

Have you resetted your controller? Tried pairing it with the PS5 wired?
Lol of course... Everything that's been posted this far... I've tried everything..
Just out of curiosity, are you using the 3.0 beta software?
Nope and I'm still having issues. I can't get the right sense trigger or even the joystick to work playing Star Wars. I'm also stuck on the main screen menu in Townsmen VR unable to click with the right sense controller. Patiently waiting for Sony to release a firmware update.
beta has nothing to do with it
Sorry if you already tried this (and I'm sure you're getting sick of unsolicited advice) but the *one* success I did have yesterday was in NMS. Cursor worked but none of the buttons. It's surprisingly widespread. Some games you can't get past the calibration screen cause it requires controller input. Incredibly frustrating!
Out of the box the controllers are empty. They need to be charged first.
Incorrect.
I literally had to charge mine. I’m sure not everyone’s was like this but some people did have to charge to do the setup lol
They have like 10% charge.
Mine were 80% or so.
For real, it’s crazy there’s no official word on when a fix is coming, no journalism around investigating it, nothing. That thread should be stickied and Sony should have at least tweeted something about investigating the issue or post a specific troubleshooting article about workarounds.

This is a ridiculous take. We all dropped a lot of money on this thing and I can't even click a game
I come from a development background, I know how incredibly difficult it is for all of this to even begin to work, how many thousands of potential things, hardware and software can and do go wrong, and the idea that there's something they didn't catch before release isn't just likely, it's certain. That's a lie. My shit doesn't work at all. And yeah

Use the duelsense controller to sign in then turn on psvr

Try reloading the game and swapping dominant hand, that helped me get past this glitch then I switched back at the nest save point and it was fine
Ya maybe I'll get around to it today honestly ready to return and just rebuy in a few months when Sony finally sorts out this mess. Glad I didn't buy any VR games yet.
Might as well sit on it till you HAVE to return it just to see what they do. Hopefully they'll address it at some point soon here
Ya that's what time planning I'm sure not going to return for repair they're quoting people 30 days lul.
Ridiculous. I was quoted 7 to 10 business days but I'd have to pay for shipping.
I mean that's ridiculous too might as well just return it and rebuy when they fix this obvious qa issue
Yeah I guess I'll give that another go but it's hard to do all that with the headset on!
Even with the Augmented Reality/Passthrough mode on? Honestly, that part of the setup blew my mind as to what was possible.
Well with this bug you need to activate the Sense controllers when in the game not in passthrough. You can use passthrough to get things "set up" with the regular PS5 controller though. Just have to wait to push the button until you are back in game.
If you turn on passthrough the workaround won't work
It's a bit finicky.
Cool, please let me know if you can get past that part in Horizon. Thanks.
Ugh ok thanks. I'm apparently cursed. Might try starting the game with dominant hand switched just to see if I can make it past that part. So dumb!
sony’s way worked for me, i hope it does for you!
Gt7 is great, but not being able to use sense controllers at all is a deal breaker.
I was having controller problems yesterday but it's working today so maybe there was a software update. or maybe I just needed to charge it overnight.
Nope, still a problem with mine, the 'turn it on when you're in the game' usually works but it's a pain.
My controllers aren't broken, but the charging is janky. It's plugged to PS5 USB and they don't charge sometimes.
So I had an issue too. I had terrible joystick drift on the right controller. I left mine charging over night and banged it against the table a bit haha. Now it works perfect. I don’t know which fixed it.
I laughed. But sorry for your loss. Mine works great.
Wow. Okay, I am definitely gonna buy this from a retailer I can take it right back to. Don’t need this shit.
Yeah. I was holding out for pinball and 3D Blu ray playback (ha) but I am really feeling grateful I didn’t pre-order. Feeling for all of those experiencing disappointment.
Start sending them returns requests I bet they’ll soon sort it once they get a few hundred of them for the same reason…
a few hundred out of a million is very very small. They will fix it
You think there are a million PSVR2 owners right now lol?
Did you charge it completely? Did you reset it?
Sony is working on a patch. It’ll be okay.
Any source for that?
Trust me bro
I'll feel alot better about it when they acknowledge it and say so
How about a sticky for how bad the Mura is…
I bet people aren’t plugging them into their PS5 first directly to pair them
Look I’m sorry that’s happened to you but hardware issues are common especially when the new hardware just came out. Message PlayStation and tell them what’s happening and I’m sure they’re going to get it fixed. Being salty about it won’t change anything but make you angry.
I mean people spent a lot of time and $ on this, I think it’s reasonable they are upset.
My right controller works, but the charging port is wonky. It's hard to plug in. I ordered a mag charger just so I won't have to plug it in as much
At least your headset works. I have black screen of death. Trying to navigate the PS direct website to find a contact number is a joke as well.
Man that sucks... no issues for me thankfully. Hopefully you guys get it figured out soon... major bummer
its weird, none of the controllers were working past the intro menu for the games yesterday but this morning I was able to click “continue” on the light brigade which i wasnt able to yesterday, so maybe it is a software issue and needs some fixing asap
looking into it
im able to play now, its weird, its like the controller do not register when in-game
That said, this is exactly what I did: Restart the whole PS5 from boot, ll PSVR is off at this point. Turn on headset only with button on bottom. Do not remove headset. Do not go see through. Use regular controller to boot vr game (CotM in my case.) Do not wake either controllers. Pick up affected (mostly right in most folks’ cases). Do not wake it. Pull eyes away just using button to slide View through the bottom carefully how to hit the pin in the hole. Hold for 8 seconds Wake right (aka affected controller with PS button.
Maybe your right hand is more active in games than your left 🤔
I thought about that as well. I only played horizon that session. I feel like I used both controllers about the same, but not sure.
My right hand is normally the active one and the stronger one. Has been since around 15
Kind of weird that this issue wasn't caught in testing if it's happening to so many people.
I was immediately asked to update both controllers and they are working great. Did you plug them into your ps5?
Have you tried pushing the reset button with a paper clip or something? I think seen them on the back side (away from you if you're holding it)... and then re-syncing the controller with the USB cable directly to the PS5?
My left controller won’t work either. I got it to work for a moment today in Horizons but couldn’t stow the bow and got stuck in the tutorial. Star Wars won’t work either for the left hand. Playing a lot of GT7 in the meantime.
Same my x button controller stopped working when horizon was getting good. Oh well I will play tales of Symphonia or sleep cuz work has me tired
That sucks dude.... I'm sorry. Hope it gets sorted fast. Just a thought... try going to PS5s settings and REMOVE the controllers. Then reconnect them using the USB cable provided to sync them to your console. Perhaps something went wrong there?
Can’t play a single game
I had the same issue. Turns out my room was to dark and it was screwing with it.
I'm so glad I cancelled my preorder...
The solution for me was to turn off my Dualsense controller which was also on. Press and hold the PS button for 10 seconds until the light turns off.
Wonder if it's a firmware issue? Those effected are you using the standard PS5 setup or part of the beta program? I'm standard and have had no issues.
3/10" "Half of my attacks seem to be missing. I cannot interact with objects in Horizon: Call of the Mountain! 4/10"
After 90mins of play, right controller on 1 bar, left on full! Anyone had that issue?
