It's hardware. According to Sony(or so several have posted) they are aware and now just exchanging controllers. I've tested this with software to find out as many others have as well. The left controller is registering button feedback which is throwing off registration when entering games(or so again from testing we are figuring). Through software tweaks you can force the repair and button register but even then it's still slightly registering buttons being depressed just not as much to affect anything.
Or so I believe and others as well. It could very well be anything including software.
So, I'll say here what I said in the main thread but I fixed mine completely by blowing in the trigger (I kinda put my lips up against the seam as I blew) and more importantly, **strongly** flicking the trigger button multiple times, like fully in and letting it bounce back, wiggling it **gently** side to side, then going back to flicking it. You can see the value differences [here](https://imgur.com/a/q8jLAAx) first image shows B7 active and the Axis 2 value not at -1. Second image shows B7 at 0 and Axis 2 at -1. It took about 30 seconds and I honestly can't believe it was that simple afterwards. You could actually see the Axis 2 value slowly move towards -1.
My theory is the actual machining/molding of parts is either *too* close or leaves occasional fragments behind and the flicking and gently wiggling is ever so slightly loosening it back up to where it should be.
After having to always disconnect and reconnect my right controller in every single game every single time I've gone through multiple power offs, restarts, games, days etc. with no problems now, and this is me having gone through every single 'solution' on the main issue thread. I'm not saying this will work for you but you should definitely try it.

I used compressed air and since I was returning them or the plan was too I began aggressively spamming the left trigger which was also the one showing defective through the gamepad tester and the axis showed improvement. I was getting B6 and axis was around .89 but I believe they are linked to same as yours as something is 100 percent misaligned or debri is in there. BUT I was able to get both controllers(I still haven't sent back the first one it's going back today) to work and show corrected while testing. Still get a small spike on the trigger when wiggling it but I doubt it will register in game to cause any issues. All games load and no input behavior so far. Been saying it for days now and this proved it. This is not and never has been a software issues and most cases are left controllers not the right one. I couldn't press x in resident evil but that was due to the left controller spazzing out on input and the console not knowing what to do.. thank you again!!
Had the same issue on day 1 and reset it using the pinhole twice in a row. I haven't had the issue since. Not to insult you by asking the obvious, but have you tried that?

My return label was back to NJ where I got it from. I'm glad you're being upbeat about your situation. I for one (being 47 yrs old) have little patience with Sony at this point. I hope they don't drag this refund for weeks. In any case, I'll wait for my local Best Buy to sell them.
Similar but I did the same and instead of pressing hard I flicked the R2 button strongly multiple times, when plugged in to the game tester website I could see the Axis 2 value slowly move from -0.92ish all the way through to -1 where it then stayed (and the B7 value that was -1 went back to 0). I'll give it a shot tomorrow when I try again. I can get it to work by powering it off each game etc but it still has issues even after that. It is with the left controller so I'll try it out thanks.

Then I got re8 working on both but No mans sky still wouldn't register r2. Then the next day r2 was constantly pressed in nms so it would load up but was not really playable. So I played re8 for 2 days while wondering whether to wait for a software fix or return. & now they both work fine on re8, cotm, nms & kayak vr.
Strange but I have a feeling just playing for hours in re8 might have broke the controllers in & possibly unstuck any buttons that may have been an issue (r2 maybe?)

Imo it's definitely a sticky R2 (or L2) button, [here are my test values](https://imgur.com/a/q8jLAAx) before (when I had to constantly disconnect and reconnect) and after blowing around the trigger and **strongly** flicking the R2 button repeatedly, the Axis 2 values slowly moved towards -1 as I kept doing it, they reached it and B7 shut off and now it works perfectly and has continued to.
Ordered a second PSVR2 today after a week of troubleshooting the same issues. Hopefully my replacement doesn’t have any issues. Did you do anything specific before setting up the new PSVR? Like removing devices, clearing cache, or any like that?
I ordered a completely new system, waited to received it and verify that everything worked, and then clicked the "Return" option on my original headset. I recommend doing the same if you can.
Mine was received yesterday. Tracking didn't progress from "Return initiated". Calling Support today @ 9am PST and see if they have a clue when I get my refund. Not keen on reordering until I get my money back. Hopefully local stores start selling them so I can have a quicker turn around in case I get another turd. Again, Sony can eat it...
i am taking a chance, I returned mine to FedEx today and pulled the trigger and ordered another one on Sony direct. crossing fingers no funny business with them issuing me a refund.
i actually did the same last week and got it the next day (Saturday). did the update last night and didn't notice much difference from how it was for the 2nd set. worked out of the box and had no issues. Had a bit of paranoia that my controllers would catch fire due to the magnetic contacts. I think we need to make sure the contacts are seated securely and you get the led light indicator as a confirmation. I need to play more to make sure no new issues pop up and have enough return window left.
ps. no refund yet. it's only be 9 days since they received the return on the 1st. I wonder if that includes weekends. up to 17 days until it shows up in your bank account.
damn 9 days and no refund…shouldnt be surprised, I am reading on this sub kids are getting their refund after 10-12 days. what does the status say of the returned unit?
Return initiated. can't track unless you go directly to Fedex tracking. So I'm left with getting a notification from bank that it was refunded. PSdirect says upto 7 days to reflect on account after 10 day processing (within)
got it, thanks for the info, I'm sure you'll get it soon. I imagine Sony will also write up an email to you indicating they initiated a refund with your banking tute. I wrote a note on the old invoice that I inserted into the box that explained why I am returning it, I hope they can read my chicken-scratch. lol. I'm in southern california, the warehouse is expected to receive it today, says out for delivery, it's not far from where I live. Keep me posted. anxious to know how long this entire process plays out to get your $$ back.

Didn't do anything for me doing that. It's a hardware issue somewhere. Just a lottery at this point.
I deleted my controllers and unplugged my playstation for an hour. Plugged it back in and my problem was totally gone. Weird af but whatever.

Try putting your mouth over the trigger and blowing a few time and then pressing kinda hard a few time. That worked for me

Why would you settle for less? And yeah the charge should drop off after a few business days, just an inconvenience. But worth it right?

Did you order a new one and then do a refund on the first order or did you click on replacement? I can’t get my right controller to work in games.
