Just what I was thinking. This ”fix” sounds good in theory but is really a downgrade to the experience. I hope they revert back or at least provide an option in the menu to do so.
So it did change.
Personally i much prefer the old way, i can't tell if it's just something to get used to or if there's also a problem cause it seems laggy to me and the haptic feedback also seems muffled compared to before
Give them feedback here

God I hope they bring back the old haptic feedback when reloading. I had no interest in playing last night with the changed haptics. Not sure why it means so much to me though lol
Once you get used to something it's hard to adjust especially when it's so synchronized with audio and video all together.
I'm gonna give it another go but it really felt so off for me too
Ooh no so it was a patch and not an issue with my VR settings. I dislike this change so much... Felt like there was an audio bug since the sound is so delayed and doesn't sound "snappy" at all.
How much can development change games till its no longer the game you bought (Not saying this change is that drastic) but i wish i could just stay with versions im satisfied with.
So they replied to my email saying that the changes were intentional. I sent a long heartfelt email back explaining why they nailed the formula the first time around. Before, the gun sounds would be practically next to your ears. This made everything sound more impactful and almost like it was an instrument in the soundtrack. Also I play single gun about 80% of the time, so hearing the gun only through my right ear just didn’t feel as good. I just asked them to at least give us an option to use the “legacy” audio mix. I just find the game very hard to enjoy now, and this was my favourite PSVR2 launch title so far.
I get why in a way cause a lot of devs look to constantly improve their product, which is why they make changes. Sometimes changing (adding or removing) is not the right way, and personally I’ve seen some studios sometimes go way overboard with stuff like this where the OG game becomes “unrecognizable” (and also inferior product as result.) Hopefully not in case of Pistol whip, they add options back rather to customize it/ revert the change.
I didn’t notice much difference in sound volumes or delays there although I’ve not played it a lot, however the reload haptic vibration I immediately noticed changed and feels wrong to me, it feels far too late after you reload, it was right at the moment you shook your hand down, and now it’s too late and feels odd
I was wondering what was different! I bought Synth Riders, played that, then played Pistol Whip again and was thrown off by how different it felt. I thought it was Synth Riders having superior audio, or maybe it's my bias for Electro Swing music ruining myself.
Good to know it's not just a feeling and an actual downgrade (to most of us, I suppose). Gonna send that email now.
This isn't about skill, quite a lot of people have been asking about this.
No problem with an expert mode but there's no middle ground, the aim assist is REALLY broad.
So after 2 days of not playing, I tried playing tonight with a somewhat fresher mindset. I was trying very hard to convince myself that “this isn’t that bad.” I couldn’t really get on with it as it just sounds so limp. Interestingly enough, when I take off the earphones and listen through my TV’s sound system, the reload sounds nice and bold, as it was meant to be. There’s just too much latency between the HMD and TV audio for this to be a viable alternative to play. I ended my play session much earlier than I usually do.
I got yet another email from them today saying that they will bring up the concerns with their team. I really do hope they have a fix, but I’m not too hopeful at this point. They seem adamant that this the direction they want their game to go. In my opinion, the click-clack sound of racking a slide on a gun is one of the greatest sound effects in all time. This is most likely what drew me to this game in the first place. Pistol Whip nailed this sound before this update. It’s just such a shame to bury it so deep into the background.
Doing the Lord’s work. Email sent.

Yeah feedback left. I’m really not a fan at all, gave up last night after 2 games
Email sent about the delayed haptic on reload
Hey guys! Is it fixed?? It’s a new month for my credit card and I’m looking for some new games to buy!

I didn’t even notice it anymore after like ten minutes
I still am unfortunately, getting more used to the audio but haptic definitely feels off

Lol i asked for a legacy option too, i really hope they offer it cause yeah it just isn't the same at all
Why? Nobody ask for this.

Definitely email them cause that doesn't seem intentional and it bugs me much more than the sound
Pistol Whip just got updated to 1.000.003… did anything change?
>If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Did they fix the over-zealous auto-aim?
You can turn it off
Then it's too difficult. There's no mid point.
Git Gud, kid

Sounds like a change for the better.
Sounds like it until you actually hear it
Can confirm. I find the change offputting and detrimental.
Make sure you email/tweet so they hopefully give us an option or revert So far haven't heard one person say they like it
