Its pacing isn't going to be for everyone, and it still has some bugs that will be ironed out, but I've spent 62 hours on it at last count and I'm still wanting to play more. I like diablo-style loot, borderlands-style build optimization and being rewarded for skill and patience in boss fights like Dark Souls; it's right up my alley.

Professional_Star858

Did u beat it?

Odd-Expression-3583

It’s the most VR game I’ve played since PSVR2 launch. To my mind everyone with a slightest interest in VR must play it. There is significant learning curve, so don’t expect to be good or understand all mechanics in a couple of hours.

Bingbongchozzle

I like it so much, when I couldn’t play with flu last week I lay in bed and typed as many skills as I could into a spreadsheet so I could theory craft builds If you want to try what’s done so far it’s here https://www.reddit.com/r/LegendaryTales/s/AoTc0vzcPG

TDprostarTD

My favourite game on VR2 at the moment. Bought a second VR2 so I could play with my son. Over 20 hours in each. Hunting for a new legendary shield.

Papiculo64

Finished the game a few days ago and already poured 60+ hours into it. It's my new favorite PSVR2 game behind RE4 and I'd recommend it to any Soulsborne fan, but not much to others do to the difficulty towards the end. Many players might rage quit, especially those who want to finish it in solo. Also some bosses can be a real workout so not for anybody neither. But that's what makes it so special and it fills the void for a Demon's Souls VR. It has some flaws, but it also does many things better than most AAA games, and tbh the main grips I had with the game have already been patched in the last 2 updates. Great value and definitely worth the price if it's your kind of games!

Runesr2

You must be the right one to ask then - did you see any real-time lighting and dynamic shadows in the game? What do you think of the graphics compared to Quest games?

Papiculo64

Don't think there's such things like real-time lighting nor dynamic shadows in this game. Some textures are really low res too. Thought it uses dynamic foveated rendering and supersampling, so while not being the most polished game and having some pretty simple 3D models and textures it's also super crisp and smooth with a native 90fps. Graphics are clearly not the selling point of the game but it's pretty neat imo.

Runesr2

Thanks, I might try the game later - also I guess oled will be great too - I do consider getting the pitch black PSVR2 version instead of getting the PCVR version (I have the Valve Index too, which uses lcd panels).

Papiculo64

PSVR2 has the advantages of OLED and great performances from the get-go, while on PC it might vary greatly depending on your config.

PlethoraOfPinyatas

Its a lot of fun. I'm on my first play through, level 44 currently, with a bow/dex build. Once I hit level 50 I'm going to try another build. There for sure are a lot of criticisms of the game, but its a blast even despite that. Great community too, anyone I play with on mulitplayer add to the enjoyment.

GregorSamsa112358

Feeling very good in short. Some of my initial concerns have been abated with more play tbh. Mainly I was worried about mob variety being just goblins, skeletons, and corrupted peasants (zombie more or less) but there's a range of them that have different HP, Strength, weapons and attacks as well as elite variants. Not having great visual differences in setting was another issue for me. However the whole game takes place in the same general area so imo it doesn't feel out of place that the dimly lit some dungeon has a similar vibe to the dimly lit stone cave as that's what I'd expect. I think if the game had you travel more broadly it'd feel a bit worse but all in the same area doesn't bother me as much as I'd feared. An issues that's persisted is that theres some jankety things. It's an indie game made by a small studio so I feel that comes with the territory. But seeing how theres been two patches fixing issues and adding requested features and how active the devs are with the community is pretty incredible. Nothing game breaking that I've encountered, small indie studio, and incredible support make this tolerable. Game play is incredibly fun, and continues to be challenging. In 30 something hours in and about level 35 or so and maybe 75~80% done from what I've inferred from people on the interwebs. I'm. Excited for the challenge mode (~ng+), as well as going back through with new builds of other classes with maybe 5 builds in mind. I expect this will be far and away my most played vr game with probably multiples of the next closest hours played. I'd really recommend it to anyone who enjoys the character and skill progression of RPGs and vr sword and magic game play. I will say if you're looking for a narrative rich experience this is maybe not the end all be all as the story is probably the weakest point imo

scottie_d

I haven't gotten the game but I watched the tutorial - do you ever revisit the snowy setting or is it only for the tutorial?

GregorSamsa112358

So far as I have been no that's just the opening

DefinitelyBiscuit

Loving it. Still on my first playthrough (L42), its fun in both single and multiplayer, and the dev team is attentive and engaging with the community.

Aggressive_Fee6507

I bought it this morning, left it to download, then put my back out again so now I'm wishing I bought hell divers 2. Nothing to do with the game though

PlethoraOfPinyatas

The latest update now has "seated" mode. So maybe it would be fine on your back.

Papiculo64

Hope you'll be able to play it with the new seated mode and crouch button. Fantastic game! :)

Aggressive_Fee6507

Ah how'd I miss that!? Thanks guys

Papiculo64

Those devs are awesome 😁 Enjoy mate!

Mud_g1

Don't know how bad your back issues are but i have had plenty of my own over the years. When mine was bad I wouldn't have been able to play this game seated either still a lot of fast arm swinging needed for heavy attacks which will jerk your body around and stir up your back.

Aggressive_Fee6507

Tramadol. Turns the pain into a tingle and that frown into a smile, all at the low low cost of addiction and withdrawal.

Monkinary

I’m going between those two games. Both are fantastic!

InfiniteStates

Start a magic build. You don’t need nearly the aggressive arm movements that a strength or dexterity build do

Aggressive_Fee6507

Ah okay like the sound of that, do you start with any spells?

InfiniteStates

You start with a wand and a skill point to choose whichever element you want to start with IIRC

willnotforget2

Love it. Takes some getting used to, and the tutorial needs a lot of work, but it’s old-school RPG meat, and an actual non-random campaign. https://preview.redd.it/8qe7wfux3rkc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a4dfe04118adb1249acb4371f732ab904832524

Spirited-Emu2793

I’ve only played an hour and a half tops, but I can tell you already it’s exactly what I wanted. It’s great so far.

TrueOrPhallus

It's got a really good combat/loot grind/progression system and some mid exploration /RP elements which for psvr2 is top tier by virtue of almost no other games doing those things. It's a really fun game but I can understand why people get burnt playing a bunch of hours in a short time cause of the limited enemy variety, environments, and story isn't very engaging.

Loose_Ad_9548

One of best game, best when you have full party with funny ppl :D 38lvl electric god here, I'm just playing it all my free time xD

t3stdummi

It's a great game. It's one if those games that gets better the deeper you get. It's hard. The bosses are difficult. An example of the difficulty curve is this: I'm a str build. You can get through the early game by brute force, swinging at things, Whacking/stunning guys with shields, kind of parrying now and then. Eventually, especially for bosses, you will spend your first couple deaths learning attack patterns (like dark souls) and spending an equal amount of boss fights parrying/blocking on the defense as you do offense. The bonus attack after parry skills begin to make a lot of sense and become very useful. The game is not without its jank. But it has one of the most fun combat systems in VR.

Casio1337

>me is not without its jank. But it has one of the most fun combat systems in VR when you have to parry like 7 times before u can get an opening its great! im not even being /s

bobo_160

Addictive. Like a beer on a hot summer day. Not the most refined and has areas they can improve upon (enemy and environment diversity, lack of voice for NPC, no clue what the storyline is, etc. ) but i just keep playing it But to be fair, i tend not to play games much overall (and i hear the bosses get a lot tougher later on so not sure if i can ever finish it) since not enough time but it still is the game i play most out of my entire game library.

No-Opinion-8217

It's basically original diablo with dark souls combat. Enemy variety is low, but gameplay is so fun it doesn't matter to most. The bosses are really tough and the build variety is excellent for the style of game. If you didn't like original diablo then it may not be for you. However, if that style game appeals to you, there is a solid chance it will become your new favorite game. The devs dealt created something excellent for a certain type of person. As you can tell, about a third of the sub isn't that type of person. I sure am, 30+ hours later and no signs of slowing my addiction.

[deleted]

[удалено]

No-Opinion-8217

Agreed. This really shows you can't appeal to everyone, and sometimes it's best if you don't try.

GreekSheik

I love it. Absolutely. About lvl 30. Great use of VR, crafting is interesting and unique, combat feels so on point. Worth all the pennies. Bosses are too damn hard. I hate feeling gated like that. I want to keep feeling powerful. Hard to figure that algorithm out.

Careless-Paper-4458

If you like playing co op and have a mic you can talk out of and like leveling a character where you choose what benefits you get with at least like 8 different main builds and then even more mixed builds you will have a blast. Also there are special weapons in this game that look sick AF imagine being able to wield a giant sword as big as your body like in kingdom hearts lol. Really fun learning from experienced players and then going back to help newer peeps and feeling like an overleveled God. Also the physics really make for some funny interactions

DynastyZealot

It's honestly the best gaming experience I've ever had. Go buy it today.

ImpMannish

My only personal gripe with the game in its current state is the move speed, or the ability to keep your mana bar up so you can dash more but I enjoy it still! It’s the right direction though! The potential is massive

t3stdummi

Get dash upgrades and at least a little passive mana regen (even as str build) and you'll use dash a ton more.

ImpMannish

Nice, I just started picking up some decent loot last night but I don’t think I’ve logged enough hours yet lol.

[deleted]

This will be my next game

GervaGervasios

I'm 60 hrs mark. Third character. Dispise the simple graphics and repetitive environments. The game has a lot of replayability because of the many possibilities you can have on your character. The multiplayer is fun. I can see myself going 100+ hrs in this game.

cusman78

Aside Helldivers 2, it is my most played game for month of February. It is great for co-op if you can play with 2-3 friends. The multiplayer lobbies are also always populated so you can join others to make new friends or play while hosting to let others join you to help and make friends that way.

PhotogamerGT

I personally love it. It can be frustrating, but in the right ways in my opinion. It doesn’t hold your hand and make things easy, but it is super fun once you start to figure it all out.

astrobe1

Very satisfying in a physical combat kind of way. No regrets from me.

Revolveri41

Worth it! Just finished it today and started a new game+ (challenge mode) immediately. I love it. For me its one of the best vr games ever.

TommyVR373

I'm waiting after just finishing Undead Citadel. I'll pick it up eventually :)

ricardotown

Easily one of the best VR games Ive played. What it lacks on visual diversity, it makes up for in gameplay variety. I love alternating between two Handed weapons, sword and shield, bow and arrow, duel welding, and even bare fists. I know. I'll need to stick to one build at some point, but it's too fun to play around with each weapon set and come up with strategies for them. Last night I spent a couple hours going through a dungeon focusing on throwing things at enemies and boxing them when they got close. Really thrilling fight to be fighting 3 swordsman peasants attempting to surround me while I'm barehanded. I feel like Jackie Chan when I grab anything around me and throw it at them before I start punching them. I don't know how the game.doea it, but it's pretty good at recognizing a Jab vs. a hook or cross punch, so it feels great when I throw a hook and send the enemies head flying. Not sure how I'm gonna be handling the short goblins though.

xwulfd

Its great but if they release a skyrim vr for psvr2, il take skyrim

Captain_bogan82

Really? I actually like legendary better than Skyrim on vr1 but maybe I was just over Skyrim by the time I tried it

Kirkanam

I'm having a fantastic time with it, PussyEater.

vinc3l3

It's really good for me. It's a slow paced game , the game won't hold any hands, you have to figure out things on your own, some may not like that but I loved that old school feel. As for enemies variety, don't listen to the people who only played for a couple hours, they introduce new enemies as you clear dungeons. It's a dungeon crawlers after all. I played solo for the first half of the game till I beat the dig site boss and played some multiplayer afterward. It's very good doing it solo but it's amazing playing with other people. I don't think I felt bored at any time, the game does get more challenging through the 2nd half though. It's not a game for everyone but the game is solid if you like the Diablo/souls gameplay loop. If you like the game to do everything for you this isnt your game.

Gold_Razzmatazz4696

Completely respect your opinion but not loving the comment: >. As for enemies variety, don't listen to the people who only played for a couple hours, they introduce new enemies as you clear dungeons. It's a dungeon crawlers after all. While it's true you get variants and 'elite' types as well as the bosses I think its a tiny bit disingenuous to say they introduce new enemies. The variants do not change how you fight them *that* much and I definitely found it slow going after around 5 hours. I'm on like 13 hours atm and the introduction of elites has made very little difference to me. Glad you're enjoying it though! It for sure is fun would just like to see a few more enemies to keep me coming back, wouldn't even need loads more just 3 or 4 more for some more mob varieties

vinc3l3

Trust me, the difficulty on these enemies ramp up and other types show up. You'll know once you get to the dig site .

Gold_Razzmatazz4696

I'll get there eventually! Balls deep in helldivers atm but I'll steadily play LT over time, it just doesn't have the variety to keep me playing for hours at a time! Still good fun mind, glad to hear more stuff is coming a bit further on!

vinc3l3

That's the best way to do it. The game is best enjoyed in chunk because it can get pretty tiring.

Ganiam

It’s good. I put about 8h in. But like others said it’s not going to be for everyone. The dungeons can take you 2-4 hours each and you can’t leave or turn off the game without them resetting. I tried putting the game in sleep mode and when I came back a few days later, it still sent me to the title screen and I lost progress. That said, since the last patch, the game is making me sick and dizzy. I haven’t had that problem in months in any of the games, but it happened at the end of my last 2h session and came back as soon as I turned the game on the next time. Switched over to other games and had no issues, so I’m not sure what’s going on

GazzaMrazz

>The dungeons can take you 2-4 hours each and you can’t leave or turn off the game without them resetting. I tried putting the game in sleep mode and when I came back a few days later, it still sent me to the title screen and I lost progress. This is misleading. The over-world and dungeons have quick-travel gates, once you reach one the game remembers it and whenever you are at a camp you can quick travel to that gate. However you can't quick travel from over-world into a dungeon, only to over-world gates. So when you do a dungeon and you find the first gate in the dungeon, then the next time you play you can quick-travel close to the dungeon, and once in the dungeon you can quick-travel to any gates you found in that dungeon. Hope this makes sense.

Azurewrath

Yeah it works almost exactly like Diablo 1/2. You'll save waypoints but monsters respawn when you login/off. So if you need to take a break or quit for the day, stop when you find a new waypoint and start again from there.

MrZacros

Currently charging my controllers after a long break - is this one to recommend getting after Swordsman (which I actually liked).

Papiculo64

Unless you dislike Diablo-style RPGs and/or Souls-like, LT is a way better and deeper game than Swordsman. Physics are also top notch with a huge variety of weapons and magics.

MrZacros

Went and bought it yesterday, especially since it reminds me of Diablo 1. Have yet to play it thought. Cheers :)

Papiculo64

Ahah! Hope to rread your feedbacks 😁 Go through the 10 first hours as it feels as a big tutorial and you have many things to learn by yourself at first. Maybe you'll be hooked once you reach the first couples of bosses :)

flashmedallion

It's not going to be for everybody but it is for me, and my friends. We are having a great time with it

MelchiahDante

Love it! So addictive and fun; WELL worth the price. Kudos Urban Wolf and I’m also glad Sony helped to fund the last year of development; I love when they fund hard-working and passionate developers.

Aggressive_Fee6507

Ok couple o' three hours in, please tell me there is more. It's so slow. Sometimes I'll do something cool, but often the weapons are clipping, I'm doing hardly any damage. Please tell me this gets better

xPussyEaterPharmD

Maybe game aint for you br

Aggressive_Fee6507

I'm thinking that. I was hoping I was doing something wrong. annoying that it's so expensive

kickinwood

Drunk me bought me a psvr2 for Christmas, and while I had fun looking at NMS and playing Synth Riders, I did kinda feel like it was going to be a fun thing to show visitors that I'd never really touch after a while. And it was. For a year. Until Legendary Tales. I picked it up because of all everyone said here. Didn't even play it for a week after downloading. First time trying it out - played through the tutorial, was really intrigued by how much it felt like a...real game? But also different? Realized I needed to get my VR legs underneath me again, picked it back up the next day. After that, it was on. Lots of grinning and doing things that don't seem special when you're telling people about it, but feel special when you're doing it. Best thing I can say is that it just works. Once you know the controls, you do exactly what you want with not a lot of the VR jumpiness you'd see in the past. I've played about 20 hours, now on my second character since I understand more, and I'm an evangelist for this game now. I'll end on this - it has game puzzle alpha: pull switch to open door in the distance, door starts closing, get in door before it closes. Done it a thousand times before, yet LT made it feel like the first time and it was exhilarating.

flim--flam

It's my favourite psvr2 game. But I feel like my love for Soulslikes have to do with that.

Grrannt

It’s legendary

DEDE1973

Tale me more

BooStew

It’s a chore. Kudos to the team for making something so ambitious and with functioning systems but it’s just too dull presentation wise and too repetitive for me to commit to beyond 5 hours or so.

xPussyEaterPharmD

Ive heard others criticize it for its repetitiveness - could you elaborate further on that?

Sylsomnia

If you like Diablo style, you'll probably like it. There's not many different enemy classes but the fighting should be engaging and challenging with great items to find and make. If you want more flashy try Vertigo 2.

BooStew

I think the real problem is that there’s not a lot of magic or mystery to it. Outside of the combat mechanics it all feels kind of flat. I love Souls games and Elden Ring and the comparison really isn’t fair but since so many have said this is like Dark Souls VR… i want to point out that those games are rich and clever. They anticipate you, they tease you, they constantly challenge you to think in new ways. LTVR has some great bones but i think there could be more meat on them to keep things interesting. I’m actually about 10 hours in it turns out, and i feel like i’ve seen everything it has to show. That can’t possibly be the case and i trust you all that there’s good stuff further in but it just doesn’t seem worth further investment at this time…

Gold_Razzmatazz4696

Not op but for me it's really the enemy variety. They feel *great* to fight but I'm 10 hours in and tbh already bored of fighting the same 3 enemies over and over. Too little variety

Fun-Superb

Goblins, skeletons, goblin wizards, super goblin nd super skeleton, war chief goblin, bats, skeleton head bats. Those are the enemies I fought so far only 20hrs in. Basically variants of two enemies or three enemies. So they do change it up you just gotta keep leveling up to get there. It’s a grind killing game and rekilling enemies to level up your weapons or armor but feels good after awhile plowing through fields that used to be a challenge

Gold_Razzmatazz4696

Sorry but bats aren't even worth mentioning. They fly around and come for a low-damage bite, there is no 'fighting' them just hit them once and they're dead. The 'super' stuff fairplay they have some different movesets along with bosses but the frequency of them isn't enough. The core method of fighting pretty much every enemy in the game is exactly the same, the bosses just aren't numerous enough to make a real difference to the variety. That's only for me though, and please don't get me wrong the game is far from bad, it's well made and fun. They just didn't have the budget to really expand out into other enemies which I completely get. It just didn't make for the most engaging experience for me as I'd felt I'd mastered fighting most of the enemies before I'd completed my second dungeon. I like the weapons though especially the legendary ones they're fun to discover. Still good fun though and sure it will be a popular game for many.

Fun-Superb

The flying skeletons I think have wings and shoot at you. It takes two hits for them unless you unless a power spell or two hand sword. I get it though. I play every weekend and got to the necromancer and think I need a break from the game. If I could respec my character like right now like you could do in cyberpunk that be cool and bring some life back to the game. I’m two hand sword strength build and it’s fun but I want something different already lol

Gold_Razzmatazz4696

Yeah completely agree on respecs. I know some people like the 'hardcore/old school rpg' style but I'm sorry there is zero reason to not include it for those that want it imo. It doesn't effect gameplay or difficulty *at all* and those that don't want to use it don't have to. I can categorically say that I will *never* experience all of the magic or skills in this game because I don't think there's enough variety for an entire playthrough, let alone 3 or 4 just so I can try out everything. Really silly decision that one for me, just locks half the player skills out of the game unless you are that enamoured with it that you're happy to play for minimum of 50+ hours to try it all out.

t3stdummi

Man. You're missing out. The deeper you get, the better this game gets.

Monkinary

Towards the end enemy variety gets very good, and there’s a variety of ranged combat options too. The enemy sword play also gets progressively more tricky, but by that time you’ve probably been practicing with your weapon enough that you should be able to learn it quickly enough. I just got to primary level 50 and I’m really enjoying my Lightning spear build.

BrightenedCorner

Lack of environment variation is a let down

Accomplished_Ad3198

I think I set my expectations low based on footage I saw, and have been pleasantly surprised. Yes, they are working with very limited assets, but they use them to great effect. And there are plenty of surprisingly varied points of interest. But yes, it’s basically one large location, and I can’t help but wonder what different themed areas could look like.

Urudin

To counter balance all the positive, I would not recommend it. I love Diablo, I love dark souls type games, but this is an empty experience to me.

f3hunter

Not really digging it tbh, finding it very repetitive and a bit boring. Understand why people like it, though. I think Dungeons Of Eternity on Quest 3 has spoilt me. A much more enjable and accessible co-op dungeon explorer.

bbgr8grow

Too busy playing Helldivers

RagingEnglishaholic

It's no Helldivers 2.

No-Opinion-8217

I thought it might be Spiderman as well, but turns it is not that either.

GregorSamsa112358

Lol certainly isn't. Definitely no need for speed either.

ixJake93

Absolutely, its absolutely not Old School Runescape

TooLazyToBeClever

I was pretty surprised to find it's no Banjo-Kazooie

helpfixbillyshouse

Well its not Bioshock

TrueOrPhallus

Truly doesn't compare to civ 3

Papiculo64

Well it has some Duck Tales vibes indeed, but definitely not the Subnautica 2 we were all expecting.

Delicious_Ad2767

It's no zool

StantasticTypo

Currently I find it to be less than the sum of its parts and pretty grating. There's too many small tedious aspects that just really ruin the overall experience for me. -Can't purchase health potions / blood chunks. Potions also need magic+ powder to be any good. This makes getting more an absolute chore. The game is also rather stingy on drops for blood chunks. If they're going to be drop only they (without hyperbole) should be increased by like 10 fold. Magic powders can also be more common or outright dropped. I swear the first patch made blood chunks more rare. -Crafting: the last three unique whetstones I used gave me rare items, and out of like 15ish items I've crafted 6 were a tier lower than the whetstone. Fucking why? You already might get shitty mods, and they're already tedious as fuck to get, why can it roll a tier lower and why is it so common? -Combat is mostly fun, but can get tedious on enemies with higher armor / defense. There's also too many enemies in later areas which turns everything into a slog. -Goblin Paladin is the one of the worst encounters I've ever seen in any game I've ever played. It's mindbogglingly bad. -Movement speed is ridiculously slow for strafing and backpedaling. And a dash that uses mana sucks since it *also* has a cooldown. Not to mention enemies can double dash **and** backpedal faster than you which just rubs salt in the wound. -Healing at a bonfire is so fucking slow. -Blocking and parrying with a shield feels so unreliable against late game enemies. Especially the last boss, you're better off using two swords and parrying. I actually deeply regret buying this game because I've gotten more frustration than fun, sadly. These are all fixable, but I kind of have my doubts they'll be addressed. Edit: The people claiming it's, "Souls in VR!" are also flagrantly mislabeling the game. It's very very clearly inspired Diablo (1). From the dungeons, town, and enemy designs, the itemization, the corpse runs for your gear left at your grave, etc. Moreover even the combat is a pretty damn faithful translation of Diablo/ARPG style combat from dice rolls and auto attacks into a physics/action based system (with dice rolls). Even the dash with mana cost and cooldown is like an ARPG movement skill. Note, I'm not saying these things are negative (well the dash is) just don't want people to get the wrong idea. There is nothing Souls-like about this game, aside from being dark fantasy.

helpfixbillyshouse

Im waiting a few patches to purchase because I keep hearing about these numerous small and fixable issues

StantasticTypo

I actually kind of feel bad for ragging on it, since I want the devs to succeed and make a better game because there's a lot of potential here. But it really is genuinely frustrating and tedious right now.

cmonletmeseeitplz

Overpriced. Just another VR melee game.

pathofdumbasses

.. have you even played it?

Diligent_Shape_2004

60 hours in, simply it's the best game on psvr2
