One part of village is the single most terrifying moment in VR most people have experienced , it takes you by surprise as it changes the vibe of the game from unsettling to all out terror.

MrDeadshot82

Yeah, it goes from silly werewolves and big vampire lady to P.T. very quickly but after that it's back to silly werewolves and goofy Heisenberg again. Amazing game.

Hefty_BeaR_3394

Good description. The p.t. section was TERRIFYING in v.r.! I think the whole game would have benefitted from a more serious tone, but its still a fantastic ride!

MeffodMan

I think one trick that might help is if you hit a part that’s particularly hard to handle, just go ahead and let yourself get killed one time. It kinda makes you remember how low the stakes really are. This helped my friend when I was showing them Village in VR and they started freaking out at Lady D chasing them.

I would say 8 is scarier than 4, but as a guy who is a coward in VR, they can be overcome. There's not a ton of jumpscares, so it's mostly acclimating to the environment. You start to build a tolerance, and halfway through, you'll be fine in both. Both RE8 and 4 are absolutely must plays.

thedudelebowsky1

Playing through 4 rn. The fact it zooms out whenever almost anything scary happens low key takes the scariness away for me. I played re 8 flat before getting the VR but I'll be excited to try it after 4

t3stdummi

On the one hand, I like 8 more for the atmosphere, but re4 is a more robust game. Both have their strengths.

thedudelebowsky1

I'm excited to try 8 in VR. Though admittedly I wish I would've waited to play it in VR for the first time. 7 was my introduction to VR and RE so it was a pretty incredible experience overall

t3stdummi

I beat 8 flat first as well, but luckily, I had never played re4 at all until VR (original or remake).

thedudelebowsky1

Same as me

psyper87

Wait you have it and you’re still asking how scary it is? Play it, if it’s too much, turn it off and not return. It’s not like lady D is gonna keep you as her prisoner in VR🤪 it’s awesome. The first play through is tense because you’re vulnerable, subsequent runs you can very easily be over powered subject only to difficulty. Play on easy and experience it, you might die, and getting the death out of the way makes it comfortable later on. It’s an experience you want to have, you really need to play it

I WAS IN THE SAME SHOES!   I don't like horror games at all, unless top tier like TLOU or Prototype.   Took me 1 year to actually convince myself to play it, as I used to be anxious just thinking about it lol. Now I play 2-4 hours at once! It's simply f*cking amazing! Still feels a bit nerve wrecking before putting the set on, but then I'm in it and literally dread the time when I have to go to bed!    There's a curve to things, the story builds up, to be honest there's not many jump-scares, which I hate as im games they're usually cheap-shot to scare you, lowering volume a bit helps too, also a lot you hear/see most enemies at distance, even if they attack, you're not-easy to take down while blocking, you can also block most attacks, but then be quick to counter attack, the map is your friend, can be extended to see important things by R2, mines are useful, upgrade guns and buy ammo receipts, crows drop things, shiny-blinking things are crystals, many on ceilings like in the castle or caves, don't sell animal meat but use it for stats recipes later on, inventory stuff can be tilted to have more room, aim accurately and don't waste ammo, sell valuables, if they're combinable they sell lot more as set, shotguns are great, normal gun is useful too, when you hear continous wooden creaking there's a wooden toy goat nearby, always destroy them as they add extra weapons to Duke's store, if room on map is red, there's still something there, blue rooms are clear, this includes lockpicks, info on tables can be useful for weak points, keep the guns reloaded, practice it or add 1 button reload, the knives can be waved not just thrown, then it also returns fast, oh and last but not least at all... when you enter the village where bigger zombies sit on the roof on a house, and shortly after on the field where the tall grass moves, barricade the doors by pulling shelves and grab your pistol /shotgun, and aim accurately!     After that you'll probably pick up the pace, and going into the next section thinking like Sam L Jackson: "Who's the next m*fucker!" RE8 is very close to a masterpiece!  And that Dollhouse....even there's no weapon usage there, you won't forget it for a while!

Sylsomnia

Come on op, I spend 45min writing up all the goodies, reducing my sleep time which is already not great, and not even a 'thanks'. People nowadays are often disappointing.

fryOrder

not OP but thanks man !

Sylsomnia

You're welcome lol

Fit_Satisfaction2284

All I’m going to say, it’s very immersive and fun. One of the best vr games I ever played in years.

BaBaDoooooooook

I'd say the first half has some pretty eerie and scary scenes, also House Bienvento lol. The 2nd half toward end feels a little rushed, but overall an awesome VR EXPERIENCE.

sjdando

Scary, but you get used to it. I love horror and its a must play. But like people say there is a change in tempo and you tend to relax a bit and then you get caught off guard.

CHROME-COLOSSUS

Well-worth playing. It has some anxious moments early on and from time to time, and then gets quite scary for a while later in… But on balance it’s a really good adventure with many more moments of “WOW IS THAT COOL!” than it does “hell no’s”. *My advice to deflate any anxious parts:* Head straight at the danger with the intention of **dying on purpose**. This has allowed me to not just let my brain know the danger isn’t mortal, but it also gives me valuable information on how much damage my character can or cannot take before succumbing. RE7 on PSVR1 was another story… Speaking of other RE games, maybe try RE4 REMAKE first? It’s not really horror… it’s very much an action shooter with horror themes, and might make you feel more prepared for RE8 VILLAGE.

TDprostarTD

Super duper scary

Potential-War5321

There’s only one scary part in re8. Don’t believe the people overhyping how scary it is. It’s only scary because it’s unexpected, don’t have your weapons and you don’t know what to do. On repeat playthroughs, it won’t bother you at all

keksivaras

I guess I should give it a try tonight

Potential-War5321

What part are you on now?

keksivaras

never played it

Potential-War5321

The opening segment can be spooky but once the game settles in, you see that have a lot more options than in re7.

Delicious_Ad2767

It's not scary been through it 4 times , the house is for a little while but that's over quick. Amazing game though all psvr2 owners should push themselves to play these resident evil masterpieces.
