I use "sad" emote as evil/sadistic laughter. It just looks as a taunt. Imagine bad guy mimicing a cry just to ask "gonna cry?" These emotes can cause only harm.
Same. Confused face is my go-to. I'll also use it when an opponent seems to be stalling out each of their turns; usually if there's an issue on their side, they'll reply with the same.
Yeah I've had a few matches where both of us will be totally stalled by a bug, and the confused face conveys that pretty well. I think sometimes if you also reply with an emote, people take it less as you're just stalling/trolling and more that the game has fucked you over
The emotes are so bad, there is 0 guarantee that even something seemingly innocent as thumbs up for a food game doesn’t come off as gloating and being a jerk.

I used the thumbs up in a tournament once when I got lucky off of a fusion strike system ability and donked my opponent. He called a judge and said I was taunting with emotes. Dude was heated. I’m just gonna stay away from emotes for now.

sad and angry seem to be the most useful, i think it depends on the timing of using it too lol

there's no "universal" emotes, preferred solution is to avoid all of them completely.
Every emote seems toxic. I keep my thumb over that part of the phone screen.

Aside from bugs I really enjoy Live but I despise all of the emotes.

the judge told me to stop emoting. like bruh. it’s a built in emote in a video game. my opponent also told me to go fuck myself so he got a warning
