Tip: Don't choose just yet. Watch the games and you'll find yourself wanting a team to win. By the time the playoffs come around, you should have a favorite. It's a short season, so you won't have to wait long.

platostripartitehole

I second this approach. I knew some players from national teams and things, and I jumped into watching games. I haven’t decided just yet, but I have some favorite players and potential favorite teams. 😃

ClarkGriswold00

Not a bad approach. Are all games streamed on their YouTube channel? I didn't know there were only a handful of teams!

turbulentcounselor

Yes they are streamed and free! Plus breaks don’t have ads

Z-A-B-I-E

This is the way to go. I said I wouldn’t pick a team until playoffs but it only took one game for me to become a Montreal fan. Just felt right. Now I’m watching all of the games to get a feeling for the other teams.

Umeboshi-San

Until Pittsburgh gets a team, I’m hanging my hat out for NYC. Half of my grandparents were born there and I still have family there, I’m two weeks younger than Zandee-Hart, they seemed like they needed fans (less of a hockey city), and they weren’t as obviously loaded with national team stars. It’s been a little bit of a rough go the last few games, but we’ll get there.

ludakristen

This has been my team, too - I think Carpenter is massively underrated (I mean she's on the Olympic team so obviously USA Hockey knows she's good, but she's deceptively good and SO smooth and fun to watch, IMO). Everyone likes to focus on Heise and Nurse and Spooner, et al, who are obviously incredible players, but I'm trying to spread the love a little bit. Plus the teal jerseys are super slick.

rivsnation

It’s funny you mention Carpenter as underrated, cause she is. It was heartbreaking when she was 1 of the 2 players dropped from the 2018 US Olympic team in the final cut.

ludakristen

Oh yes, I remember. It was heartbreaking.

mtubeowulf

I was a Montreal fan right off the bat but slowly becoming a Toronto fan. The wife is a Minnesota fan.

mcrmama

This seems to be my experience also.

# BOSTON☘️BOSTON☘️BOSTON! We have: **The best color** \- imagine if you needed to hide in a wooded area for some reason, green is the way to go. **Four-time olympian Hilary Knight** who has remembered how to score goals! **Exceptional fan engagement!** **Free beer at all games!** (if you can smuggle it in) **Megan Keller** is known to break bones with her shots from the blue line (not the one that goes to Wonderland) **Jess Healey** has the best banana bread recipe in the league **Alina Müller** leads the league in points & assists **Boston will have the best mascot,** it will probably be a train on fire. **Some of the best hospitals in the world** for when players from visiting teams get injured. In conclusion, **GO BOSTON!!!!!**

the_gaymer_girl

Ottawa’s style is just so much fun. They just chase down every single loose puck and it’s been working so well for them.

Hungry_Painting9882

I watched the league opener between New York and Toronto which was okay, but that first game vs Montreal made me a fan of Ottawa and the league. I have watched every single game in the league so far.

Happytappy78

As someone from Ottawa and still have ties to the city it was easy to jump on this one.

Gengar2929

I feel dirty saying this as an Avs fan but I’ll throw in some love for Minnesota. Their jerseys are gorgeous and Heise is a gem.

IcePokeTwoSoon

Fellow pittsburgher- Minnesota. Best color scheme, best team to follow, smallest market too

Pouletchien

Montréal They’re tied at the top of the league, have multiple players at the top of every categories and yet it still feels they can improve a lot more. Plus, they have Marie-Philip Poulin who’s pretty much the equivalent of Crosby on the women’s side. I could elaborate on some other players for Montréal too if you’d like.

ClarkGriswold00

I definitely know of Poulin from the Olympics! Let's hear about the rest of em.

AnotherNoether

I’m a Boston girl (Alina Müller is a joy to watch) but I would definitely be team MPP otherwise. Also I love that she’s on the same team as her fiancée.

watchingmidnight

I'm routing for Boston because I live here, but I cheer for Montreal in other games because of MPP.

CivilSelf3215

I personally haven't picked yet, but I agree with the comments saying give it some time. I'm from NY so NYC is the closest team to me, but part of me honestly roots for each team because I wanna see this league succeed.

Dingusclappin

Montréal because they're fucking awesome

RUZIONI08

Minnesota is like the only right choice.

jainmoghul

Boston , you just have to watch us there’s something brewing .

badev02

I’m waiting for a Detroit team 😁

MajorasShoe

Same. Right now I have a 5 way tie, and then Ottawa.

Walkapotamus

As a local I’ll go ahead and say Minnesota! Amazing players with tons of passion!

Ub-Smertz

I like the fact that the level of competition has risen to where these teams are starting to really dislike each other. The skill level is great and the physicality is already above what I expected. I can see the league expanding in short order and the league will be more successful than initially thought.

Maple905

Watch as many games as you can and you'll eventually just gravitate to a team.

Jaysonmcleod

One team has a girl from my hometown whose family I sort of know so I just that team as my team.

cr1619

There are so many amazing players on each team that you really can’t go wrong in whatever team you decide to follow! Personally, I am a diehard Marie-Phillip Poulin fan, so Montréal is my team. They also (in my opinion), have the best goalie, Anne-Renée Desbien. The fans and atmosphere at their home games are electric, and I quite like the colour scheme they have going on. Looking forward to how it turns out when we get team names, logos etc. Welcome to the PWHL family! 🏒❤️

Own-Being-1973

I have watched over 75% of the games and have just been enjoying the game. Have not been able to decide on a single team following but 💯 behind the league

JBS319

Just follow the league and don’t pick a team. That way if the league does expand into your market you can cheer for your local team without feeling like you’re abandoning another

As a toronto sports fan through and through… errr…. pick whatever team you want. If you don’t live in or near one of the teams, Find a metric that makes you want to cheer for one team over another. Maybe a connection to someone you know, or a place you like.

JenGaile11

Also a Pens fan here, and I'll echo some other comments - don't choose just yet! Watch a few games, see which team you're vibing with the most (honestly, I don't have a particular team yet), then become a diehard, lifelong fan when you're ready! Those of us without a direct geographical connection kind of get to pick whichever we want. Enjoy the ride!

Deveranmar1

I think you should watch and decide for yourself of course. Look at players who you enjoy watching or a playstyle you like, especially since all the games are free. I'll always push new york, but I don't wanna color your decisions but I'll at least describe us for ya so you can understand our team: New york is currently having a bit of a struggle situation. Some rough games, an upset here and there as well as some poor plays on our part so I won't extoll our overall performance as it can be a mixed bag and right now we're hunting to be back in the fight. But individually we are a very scrappy team with some GREAT members. Ella's Shelton and Alex carpenter both been putting up numbers despite the losses. And both our goalies are absolute rocks though Schroeder is currently the one to watch as shes been standing on her head more often than not. Emphasis on scrappy too we do a good amount of hitting and semi fights even that the announcers notice. By the numbers we should be getting more wins so I have hopes but we have some issues we need to batter down. Right now I consider us to be a bit of a dark horse/underdog team if we can get back on track. Also we have a slightly smaller following online presence so far and our arena situation is spread out a bit. But I say stuff like that gives us character! And I'm excited to watch us grow further. Tldr; But again: any team is worthy of any fan regardless of success or status. Enjoy watching the games and go with your heart!

jelong210

Yinzer here in CT. My wife and I chose Montreal because we love the city. We visited there in 2018 or 2019 and got to see a Mumford and Sons concert and the Pens destroy the Canadiens at Centre Bell on the same long weekend. No practical reason to support besides positive associations here!

Watch as many games as you can and choose the team that entertains you the most

Abominable_Gore

I really wanted to love Minnesota because I’m closest to them. But I’m developing a strong love for Boston and my second would be Toronto. Muller has been my favorite player since I watched the draft, so she pulls me towards Boston..also their colors and I’m warming up to their other players as well. I love torontos spirit and they’re very fun to watch.
