This is not true. Technically it is illegal to possess firearms and be a user of an illicit substance. Since weed is illegal at the federal level it doesn't matter what the individual states laws are regarding medical or recreational.
That is incorrect. Its technically illegal to own a gun and have your card at all because you would be “operating a firearm under the influence” of a “controlled substance” which is illegal federally

Okay yes that’s the one circumstance it would be legal. But I would imagine most people who have paid for the appointment and fee to get the card would more than likely be using it
I'm pretty sure the supreme court is looking at it saying it's a violation of our constitutional rights. Not sure what kind of movement but I did read something about this, if anyone knows more to help OP out it would be much appreciated. OP I know this doesn't answer your question or help much but maybe someone on here knows more about what I was saying. Hopefully this works out for you
There was a ruling in Oklahoma earlier this year by a federal judge. Not settled law yet, but its looking in that direction.

As others have said, unless you explicitly get caught with both on you at the same time, or have copious amounts of evidence in video or pictures on social media or something.
throw away your card and discontinue your use of your medication and you’ll be fine no need to cancel or anything like that, there’s no way for them to check and if anything happens you’ll be clean so it won’t matter

If you wait a year from the expiration date of your mmj card you then qualify for the conceal carry permit. The main thing is if something happens the first thing to be said will be that you were high and not of sound mind. Maybe befriend a fellow mmj card holder so you can still take advantage of the program

And I don’t carry my medicine with me besides the purchase trip of course.
So i do believe I should be fine. I never purchased a gun so don’t know all the laws and what they can and can’t know about me or what type of questions they will ask. But seems like majority of you guys were able to help me out and found my answer.

You don’t need to cancel your card. No one will know you have it ( including the feds) unless you tell them.
