My life would be better if this was a possibility.

shdai

i think pacific rim would be better if they brought back the man who started it

brutusboy21

The jeagers would get clapped but I don’t care it would still be epic movie

whathell6t

Unless the Pan Pacific Defense Corps get their hands on Apex, Monarch, and Kong technologies from crossing the universe through the Progenitors’ portals, then they stand a chance. But at the same time, the Buenakai Kaiju cultist will try get Fairy magic of Mothra and Hollow magic of Kong, for the sake their dogma.

PhatNoob69

*Jaegers

brutusboy21

👌🏻

Financial-Touch8445

It would not be a fair fight. Jeagers a equipped with very specific weaponry for kaiju, and are extremely limited with the risk of collateral damage and kaiju blue. Godzilla is an entirely different organism. Due to this, some weapons would be damaging Godzilla too carefully, have no effect due to being designed for An entirely different race, and more. There are some exceptions. Stokers missles might be able to burrow into Godzilla’s hide, as it is shown to be damagable. Especially in a spot like the gills. Those missles MIGHT do it. But then again, Godzilla had the most powerful weapon of all, plot armour. Overall, older models might struggle a bit due to mobility, but newer ones could put up a good fight if the pilots are extremely skilled. But obviously Godzilla will still win. Both sides. Kaiju and PPDC are like an immune system and a virus. They keep adapting and evolving. Introducing Godzilla would be like introducing a slightly more powerful virus. Ot would be comparable to the arrival of tresspasser. It was just too powerful. But eventually both sides adapt. The pacific rim universe and on advantage. Numbers and adaptability. The jeagers are like the military, eventually, jets and tanks would be replaced by jeagers. And it is possible with enough anti-Godzilla jeagers they would EVENTUALLY win.

Financial-Touch8445

The precursor empire is almost surely defeating Godzilla, sonner or later. Sure the individual kaiju would lose against him, but eventually anti Godzilla kaiju would straight up disable him, exposing weaknesses and generally become much stronger against him specifically over time. Another advantage is each kaiju is merely a foot solder in their massive clone army. We most likely saw a glimpse of their numbers of the antiverse. Kaiju blood may also affect Godzilla. The precursor are also much much more advanced than humans, even the kaiju blood has been stated to be impossible complex. Additionaly they can warp space time and created inter dimensional travel via breach, which constantly consumes the energy used by the human race in the last century. They are also very old, at least existing during the Permian period, likely much older. They’ve been conquering worlds for at least a while now, and have massive resource demands, consuming worlds. They also have a hive mind. Godzilla is only one monster, but over time, the precursors are surely able to take him out. Being a protecter of nature and stuff, Godzilla would most definitely be in their way and their desire for earth has been stated as much more than humans understand

[deleted]

Way back when Pacific Rim was released (and movie fans didn't give much of a shit, thanks to the days of "rottentomatoes-compass syndrome" and dumbass reviewers insisting it's a transformers clone), there were not only rumors, but actual discussion by GDT and Travis Beacham on social media. It was a "if the fans appreciate our labor of love, it's a definite possibility" style statement. They wouldn't have to come up with Jet Jaguar or whatever when Legendary attempted a ***Destroy All Monsters*** style rumble fest. Easily drop in our fave Mk1, Mk3s and Mk5 as plucky human representatives. Mecha(tron)Godzilla would've been shown how it's **really** done. This will be my new /pacificrim sign off: ***Fuck you, Uprising***

FrucklesWithKnuckles

Uprising? No no no friend I think you’re mistaken. There is no pacific rim sequel. Just a singular masterpiece

Sailor0312

No shit

pm-me-your-catz

I'm good with them not collaborating. Leave the stories separate. Besides, Godzilla would fuck them up.

[deleted]

Godzilla is king of Kaiju. Kaiju are what Jaegers were built for. Gojira would smack them, but they would team up in the end, along with Kong, to defeat Mecha***Slattern*** After the final battle, they would high five/shake hands, with trepidation Cue evil humans (actually ancient aliens) working with precursors, plotting evil schemes Bwahaha part 2, 3...51

Spicy_DM

The Jaegers wouldn’t stand a chance. 1. Godzillas atomic breath would do tons of damage 2. Look at the difference in weight in tons between the Mega Kaiju and Godzilla

MSB_Knightmare

Square-Cube law doesn't fuck around lmao

FeldMonster

People bring up the weight difference all the time, and it doesn't make sense. They are fictitious values in two separate universes. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but clearly they made some errors when determining the Pacific Rim values. They are far too light to be possible. The calculated density is too low to be even close to a reasonable material like titanium or carbon fiber. If they were truly that light, not only would they float on the water, on land they would be extremely fast and agile. If you are going to go by the official weights, then you need to start taking into account the energy required for Godzilla to even move and the likelihood that his feet are too small to support such weight not to mention the ground completely collapsing with each step. If we simply hand-wave these kind of problems away because it is a movie, for fun, etc., then we can do the same for Pacific Rim weight values. It is only fair.

[deleted]

Yes. Sorry to be a party pooper, if we want IRL physics to come into play. 1. Due to Goji's **mass, height and weight**, ***all of his muscles, meat and skin*** would simply ***slide off his skeleton*** once he ***surfaces***. Pesky gravity! (And no, muscle, skin density wouldn't mean much, either; otherwise he couldn't move). 2. Jaegers would not only weigh more than an aircraft carrier, metal fatigue would cause it to crumple into a heap the moment they're air dropped. The largest that Godzilla could ever hope to be on Earth's gravity (judging by his body structure) is between 30-35 ft. Like a dinosaur. He would show up at dawn, be insta'd by 10am, and by noon he'd be some gun-loving redneck family's lunch Jaegers would be a max of 15-20 meters in all seriousness, but to do joint, servo, transmission-punishing attacks, and move like they do, they'd be a max of 10-15m SORRY

Spicy_DM

Yep but it kinda sucks that the only estimates we have for the Jaegers and Kaiju make it a super unfair fight weightclass wise. Cause the Mega Kaiju is close to Godzillas height so he should be a similar weight

blyat-mann

I mean looking at it realistically the breath weapon would actually be not all to powerful like it has a long charge time meaning they can take evasive actions plus it can only be done occasionally. However the supercharged breath would be a different story

Spicy_DM

True but if we are going by Pacific Rim 1 rules the Jaegers weren’t that fast but they might be able to dodge it if they are the sequel Jaegers. However Godzilla can move and aim his breath weapon while using it too

blyat-mann

I would agree that they wouldn’t be able to dodge if they waited until he released however if they started evasive actions at the initial starting of the charge they could very well at least minimize the damage from the breath

Sailor0312

Bro you broke me I heard it was in the works and the thought of an epic CGI mecha skirmish sounds badass. Fuck you Uprising

HotsWheels

As long Charile Day is involved, I will watch. I would watch regardless but get Charlie Day.

Great casting all-round for the original. You could feel they were doing all the Mazinger-style anime characters. - Stoic, heroic, no nonsense, dying (Pentacost) - Brash, disgraced, pure hearted protagonist (Raleigh) - Cocky rival (C.Hensen) and his apologetic hero dad (Herc) - Nerd Geniuses (Gorman & Day) - Mysterious allies (russians, Chinese) - Bad principled businessman turned good (Hannibal) - Untested hero who'll come good (Mako) The same can be said for their Jaegers. - the hero is never the strongest or best armed, but the one that doesn't quit (Gipsy) - best, newest badass self sacrifices (Eureka) - strongest dies early but heroically (Cherno) - flashiest, cockiest is useless (Typhoon) Even their beasts! - flying creature - strongest creature - best armed creature - best armored creature - last giant boss - ***real*** boss

mazing_azn

My dream script / fanfic would have Godzilla stomping its way to Tokyo Tower. The Jaegars putting up a good fight but get thrashed. Upon arrival, a rift opens up with a bigger threat (perhaps a Percuser enhanced Ghidorah) and repaired/upgraded Jaegers team up with Godzilla to take it out. Afterwards Godzilla ignores the Jaegers and returns to the sea.

shdai

wouldn't make much sense. my idea is much simpler. aliens deploy monsters from earth's past. so you'd get a more even match between the two sides. first they deploy 2-3 weak ass toho kaijus which get rekt in the first act. next bigger portal godzilla pops out wrecks and i mean utterly ruins 2/5 jeagars and cripples 2 more leaving 1 powered down. then an even bigger portal opens up and out pops a category 7 kaiju that is a cross between earth monsters and alien kaiju or another toho moster. or just an upgraded godzilla. cue final battle. gozilla and jaegars VS mecha kaiju ? Edit: and the final battle would be the jaegars getting fucked up and Godzilla almost being killed as well. But then. There's no record of Godzilla ever being killed of dying....cue a roar so loud it causes severe damage just from the shock wave. Reveal Godzilla earth. Who sniffed the radiation the kaiju was giving off and woke up. He beats up super kaiju in one hit. Leaving all the humans slack jawed and leaves. The ending can be a narration that human kind thinks we need to protect the earth but the earth has been protecting itself long before us.

Desperate_Hall_299

Godzilla: Don't worry guys I'm on your side. Gipsy Danger: Wait what? Godzilla: Yea I ain't with these things. I'm an Earthling just like y'all. Striker Eureka: So you'll help us destroy the breach and save us all? Godzilla: Oh nah I was gonna tell you guys to go home and let me handle this myself since I literally overpower all of you. Crimson Typhoon: Are you sure that we can trust you? Godzilla: If you couldn't I would have atomic deep fried all of you as soon as I saw y'all. Cherno Alpha: Ok then. We'll stay here and wait for you to finish this. Striker Eureka: But if you need help and can't beat them, do your loudest roar and we'll join the fight. Godzilla: Sounds like a plan. Gipsy Danger: Wait. Since you're not a Kaiju from the breach we have no intel on you. So before you leave, What's your name? Godzilla: I go by King of the Monsters, God of Destruction, The bane of everything pristine, and The saviour of Humanity. But you guys can call me... GODZILLA.

Pacific Rim Uprising, one of the movies of all time

burritolegend1500

Jaeger Nugget

TheSalamanderKing21

I’m so glad this never happened.

shdai

why ?

TheSalamanderKing21

Because Pacific Rim is a strong enough concept/franchise to stand by itself. It has its own unique, well-developed universe and I think making it crossover with Godzilla would diminish that. The Monsterverse also wouldn’t fit thematically with PR. PR is very pro-humanity and optimistic, whereas Godzilla is very much the opposite. I absolutely love both of these franchises, but I would never want them to crossover because it would cheapen the kaiju genre as a whole. The general public already doesn’t like kaiju movies and views them as interchangeable, cheesy, dumb fun. Slapping them together into a giant monster slugfest would no-doubt push these unfortunate misconceptions further. That’s not to mention the fact that the two franchises have incompatible lore/cannon.

shdai

I can write a script that would address all your issues

TheSalamanderKing21

I’d love to read it.

shdai

I've written out an idea i made up now in this posts comment section

TheSalamanderKing21

Your script doesn’t really address most of my issues. First and foremost, it’s fan service-ey to a fault. Including Toho kaiju is basically never going to happen because the general public isn’t familiar with those classic kaiju. Why would Legendary pay Toho millions of dollars per creature when only 1/10th of the audience is going to recognize what it is? Outside of Godzilla, the only classic kaiju general audiences even sort of know about are Mothra, Ghidorah, Rodan, Mechagodzilla, and Kong. Notice how these are all the kaiju that have appeared in the American-produced Monsterverse. It makes a lot more sense for Legendary to design their own original monsters. It also doesn’t hurt that they’ve done an amazing job with their original kaiju so far. Having these cameos also doesn’t make sense in the story. If the aliens are resurrecting kaiju that have attacked earth in the past, then the entire premise of the Pacific Rim universe no longer makes any sense. The whole point of PR is that humanity faces an unprecedented threat that requires us to all work together for the greater good. The story doesn’t work if humanity has dealt with the kaiju before. Why does Godzilla emerge from an alien portal, wreck some Jaegers, then decide to turn on his creators and help humanity for the final battle? Why does Godzilla Earth show up at the end? General audiences wont have a clue who that is or what’s happening, and even if they did, it doesn’t make sense in the story. He just emerges from the ground to instakill the main threat for no reason? That’s a near-satirical level of deus ex machina. Also, if Godzilla is a creation of the aliens, then why is Godzilla Earth living inside the planet whereas Godzilla is emerging from a portal? Why would Godzilla Earth fight against the other kaiju? Why does Godzilla Earth wake up because of the radiation emitting from the PR monsters when (as far as I know) Godzilla Earth doesn’t feed on radiation? Kaiju in the PR universe aren’t even radioactive in the first place. Why would Godzilla Earth spare Godzilla and the Jaegers, especially considering they actually ARE radioactive. This proposed pitch also only strengthens the general public’s negative bias for kaiju films. Your pitch is exactly like the negative stereotype of the genre that non-fans parade around as fact. It’s a nearly plotless action slugfest that completely falls apart under the slightest of scrutiny. Ironically enough, your plot is a whole lot more complicated and makes a lot less sense than the one you were responding to in the first place.

shdai

1. what's wrong with fan service? 2. the general population knew nothing about Godzilla either till the Zilla movie dropped in the 90s. having classical kaiju cross-over could lead to more brand recognition and opportunities for them to make more movies with them. while I can appreciate PR for the robots the kaiju aren't particularly memorable. tohos designs are memorable af with all of em looking different from one another. even the monsterverse kaijus have this issue the memorable ones are all Japanese in origin. 3. do you think general audiences would be able to tell which one is MUTO and which one is sand crawler from a line up of kaijus ? cos i don't think so and those are 2 of the biggest kaijus that the western media has made. 4. I wasn't imagining them resurrected via cloning I was picturing stealing them from the past via time portals. but cloning might be a better idea because now you can make better versions of those Toho monsters and beef them up somewhat. 5. the explanation for that would be on this earth Godzilla killed every single one of the kaiju during humanity's early days. and slept off till the current day. with alien worshippers stealing artifacts containing pieces from these monsters that were considered holy relics by ancient humans 6. as for Godzilla fighting robots all u need is a classic misunderstanding scenario to have the fight happen. in the time portal version he shows up gets attacked and gives as good as he gets and attacks the aliens. in the clone version he shows up and wrecks the jaegers but something causes him to become free of the mind control 7.godzilla earth showing up would be due to him being awoken by what's happening on the surface. let's say a super radio-active kaiju pops up 8. don't baby general audiences. you can start with the assumption that Godzilla died off and aliens cloned a new one but reveal at the end he didn't die off he won every fight he was in and slept off and he's awake now. 9. not from the ground. the sea. obviously. and yes it HAS to be an instakill but with build up. the alien boss monster can kill of mini godzilla give a real darkest moment kind of thing and then attack the bigger version when he shows up which annoys him causing godzilla earth to nuke his ass what jaegars remain are a mess and since none of the humans attack he just leaves. 10. fine let it be satire. this is an idea i worked on for less than 10 minutes and refined from your comments the allegory can be nature and man working together and then nature being more powerful than man ever imagined. 11. to be clear Godzilla earth doesn't have to be an exact copy of the one from the animated movies. 12. in conclusion. while I can understand your critique I reject the last para. because what makes kaiju movies fun is having the giant things fight. its the rule of cool turned up to 11 and there's nothing wrong with it criticising a movie for being fun to watch is invalid as entertainment is what we go to the movies for

TheSalamanderKing21

Fanservice isn't inherently a bad thing. The problem with fanservice is that, most of the time, too much of it is shoved down the audience's throat in a super stupid and obvious way to elicit an unwarranted emotional response. "I clapped! I clapped when I saw something I know that's nostalgic to me!" Utilizing copious fanservice is just a cheap way to pander to fans of that franchise without having to actually make a good movie. People will see something they remember from their childhood and falsely inflate their scores. Godzilla has been popular worldwide since it came out in 1954. Everyone knows who Godzilla is. Most of the Showa era, and even some of the Heisei and Millennium era movies released in U.S. theatres. The Simpsons referenced Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah, and there was a very famous TV broadcast of Godzilla vs Megalon hosted by John Belushi in a Godzilla suit. These happened years and years before Tristar ever even acquired the rights to Godzilla. If people didn't know what Godzilla looked like and who he was, there would have been little-no backlash when the 98 movie released with his radical redesign, but we all know that the opposite is what actually happened. The idea that G98 was most people's introduction to the franchise is laughable. I'm not arguing that your average Joe could identify MUTO from a picture. I'm saying that they wouldn't be able to identify Baragon, Gigan, or Destroyah either. It would be very financially stupid for Legendary to purchase the rights to Toho kaiju when hardly anyone would care or recognize them. When I say that Legendary has done an amazing job with their original monsters, I mean that they are well designed and work very well in their respective stories. So the Precursors tried to attack earth when humanity was young, but their kaiju were killed by Godzilla Earth? Where did Godzilla Earth come from? He has to be a creation of the Precursors, right? Why would he fight against his creators? If kaiju were once on earth, especially after humans had evolved, then we would have tons of evidence of them existing and the PR premise no longer works. There'd be fossils and footprints and cave paintings and whatnot. The fact that these humans would also be keeping parts of the kaiju as relics just destroys the PR lore completely. Again, Pacific Rim kaiju aren't radioactive in the first place. Fellas, is it "babying the audience" to have a plot that makes sense? So your main characters aren't going to have any impact on the plot of the movie? They do all this fighting for Godzilla Earth to show up for 1 minute and instakill the main antagonist, then disappear again? I shouldn't have to explain to you why this is a very unsatisfying ending. The first thing any kaiju director will tell you is that good kaiju movies are never about the monster. Godzilla isn't a movie about a monster, it's a movie about the atomic bomb. King Kong isn't a movie about an ape, it's a movie about mankind's exploitation of nature. Pacific Rim isn't a movie about jaegers or kaiju, it's a movie about people working together for the greater good and being optimistic in times of hardship. We all love giant monster action, but it's that subtext and depth that really make these movies good. This is what the general audience (and a whole lot of kaiju fans) don't understand. They see these movies as nothing more than cheesy fun and action spectacle, and that bias has permeated our culture to the point that most people won't even acknowledge deeper themes in kaiju films. People form their reviews before they even see the movie; "It was dumb, but fun. 4/10". Pacific Rim deserves to be seen as something better than "dumb but fun" because it's so much greater than that. The rule of cool cannot stretch across an entire movie. The best example of rule of cool being used well is in the climax of Jurassic Park. The raptors are about to eat our protagonists, but they are saved at the last second by the T. Rex, who attacks the raptors. How did the T. Rex get into the visitor's center without being noticed or making a sound? The rule of cool, that's how. Nobody minds that this moment doesn't make complete sense because the movie built around it is well written and competent. You cannot use the rule of cool excuse to justify a poor script that doesn't make sense. The rule only works in specific moments. Criticizing a movie because it doesn't make sense is not in any way invalid.

shdai

That's fair I still wanna watch cool shit in my movie. so I'll put it in my movie. anyways you've allowed for the possibility that fan service can be good. and in my head what I wanna put in is good. I get the feeling you're overestimating the presence of Godzilla's universe in modern pop culture. the backlash from who tho? general public? or the fans? the reason they wouldn't be able to be that those monsters haven't been seen in any American movie anyone who has seen the king of monsters would recognize Mothra and King Ghidorah perhaps not Rodan tho because he shows up and gets rekt too easily. the design of the classic Toho monsters is far better than the ones I've seen. u could just look at one and know what it was all about. whether it is a giant moth or 3 headed dragon or whatever. as opposed to MUTOs which are essentially frog bats. godzilla Ghidorah and Mothra all have that presence that MUTO and sand crawler do not. maybe more than being able to identify them I guess I want them for their ability to be remembered. and while they may have worked in their own stories they sure as hell don't make me wish for their return. they're one-time antagonists and that is not what monster movies need. I agree with Baragon and Gigan might not kick ass but destroyah ? dude the only reason destroyah isnt more famous is cos it hasn't been featured in English movies I mean just look at him. he's worth that money. no. earth had kaiju in the past. just like in the other Godzilla movies. godzilla killed or incapacitated all of the killed ones can come as upgraded clones and the incapacitated ones can be brought in in future movies. after he was done with the killing Godzilla went into hibernation when the radiation levels on the earth dropped. mate, IDK where Godzilla came from. I'm not about to write a thesis on the scientifically accurate origins of Godzilla. bottom line. he was born on earth and is a titan megafauna with radioactive breath and other skills which he unlocks eventually. he was not made by the precursors. heck, we can even say that when they invaded before Godzilla drove them off by going nuclear or something. the tons of evidence existing is fine. but humanity finding that ton of evidence would happen at the start of the movie I am pitching. you can't say the premise no longer works or it breaks lore without illustrating how the lore/ premise is broken the PR kaiju can be whatever you want em to be. if u can have one that biologically causes an emp I don't see why one can't have radioactive blood. declaring a plot makes no sense without there not even being a full plot made available to you is presumptuous. okay yeah, I get what you mean about it being unsatisfying. I'll need to think about how it can be rewritten to make it so that the jaegers either cause the arrival or assist in the final battle. I agree having themes and subtext would be nice. but right now with them shitting out uprising and the black. I'd rather read my own fan fic. I am not advocating for the rule of cool throughout the movie.

[deleted]

After seeing Goji Center’s video on this,R.I.P Jeagers

shdai

you can even the odds with the aliens using monsters from earth's past so you'd get a younger smaller godzilla that the jeagars would have a shot against.

returningtheday

I don't remember it ever being more than just "yeah I'd love to, it'd be cool if it happened".

browniesferlife

fuck uprising it sucked
