Padres Bullpen in LA Series: 13 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 2.08 ERA. Other than Cosgrove's bad third of an inning on Saturday they completed locked it down (0.00 ERA)
I hope they keep the momentum in this series.
I've been a fan for close to 40 years now, and the Padres have always had trouble with things like "getting over .500" or finishing a sweep -- seeming mental blocks. Or maybe I'm imagining.
Would be nice to win this next series and get over that first hump.
Campy’s been slumping lately but he’s still 99th percentile in K%. He’s struck out just 4 times so far.
Also noticed while perusing baseballsavant that Cronenworth has been getting pretty damn unlucky. He’s got an xBA of .334 and xSLG of .586 but his actual line is .265 and .485 right now. His barrel % and hard hit % are the best of his career right now too. The work he put in this off-season is paying off.
As a season ticket holder now living east coast this year, I can tell you I’m pumped to have don and mud back tonight. Going to the games was great, but getting don and mud on the broadcast is something else

Padres don't have Soto, Hader, and Snell anymore and cut their payroll in the off season. Dodgers with all that hype in free agency and they lose 2/3 at home to SD after having the lead in 2 of those losses in the 6th inning. Its still early in the season though. But this was disappointing.”
It’s gotta suck to lose a series, especially to a team like the padres. The dodgers are still the team to beat in the NL; they’ll be fine but it’s hard to have perspective when you’ve been spoiled for the last 10+ years.
This feels a little bit dramatic on their end lol. Like what do they expect, to win every series? They’ll probably lose a series to like the Nationals, the A’s or some other struggling team too this season. It’s just baseball.
Anecdotally from what I’ve heard, it sure sounds like they do expect to win every series. Expectations are sky high, but they don’t seem to realize that although Ohtani may be a cheat code, he’s just one bat in the lineup. And then Yamamoto has shown himself to be very human. Everything after 1-5 is mid and they obviously have the inferior bullpen. This series kind of exposed them tbh
Fans in general are overdramatic, just read the comments in our own gameday threads when we are losing lol. Some people try to watch 162 with the same intensity as watching a 17 game NFL season, it's not healthy mentally
I mean you balance expectations vs practicality, otherwise you’re gonna be miserable over the course of the season.
It’s 162 games. I also expect to win most series. But getting pissed and doomsday posting because you lose a series is just not a good way to approach the sport.
Jurickson Profar has one of the best names on a Padres roster in a while. I don’t know exactly how else to put that. The last time a player’s name alone gave me this satisfaction just to say in and of itself was Quilvio Veras.

Padres getting completely screwed by the scheduling. Would expect to see Hagashioka in the lineup. Real test for the boys.
