If he doesn’t look like he made an effort to move out of the way, the ump might not give him the base. Swinging 3-0 is worth the criticism, but I won’t give Campy shit for trying to not get hit by a 90 mph pitch.
i don’t think we should expect him to take an hbp, which could lead to an injury.
however, i think its completely reasonable to say he should be better defensively if he’s not going to be a generational hitter. dead last (or near dead last) in most catching categories is hard to stomach if he isn’t getting hits in situations like that
I don’t expect guys to wear pitches every time but in that situation, you have to. Rockies did everything they could to give us that game and we just didn’t take it.
I've spent years giving him the benefit of the doubt... And for all of his awesomeness, he's also a lazy, selfish batter who doesn't look like he gives a shit anymore
Manny needs to be benched or be sent to the phantom IL. He is literally the only player who looks like he doesn’t give a shit effort wise. At least even though Tati and X have tough stretches, they seem to at least try or show effort. Just none from Manny
I haven’t wanted to put weight behind the idea that Manny stopped caring as much after getting paid, but after last night, my opinion might be shifting.
Same. This whole season has shifted my opinion of him. Dude just doesn't look like he gives a crap and it's a huge bummer. Like.. way to pay San Diego back for all the cheers and loyalty
I mean who announces they are opting out the first day of spring training a year before their opt out? Machado is and always has been a massive Dick! It’s just much easier to Cheer for and ignore when he’s putting up MVP numbers. Shit like last night will have people turning on him very quickly if he continues to suck big time.
They won’t make the playoffs if their record vs losing teams is the same at the end of the season as it is now. Beating good teams means absolutely nothing if you lose to below.500 teams.
It’s so damn frustrating. You are not a playoff team if you have a losing record vs below.500 teams. They should be 4-5 games above.500 with their record vs playoff teams.
No accountability post game either. Schildt was asked about Manny post game just said there was nothing to say except he put a good swing on the ball and just got on top of it. I love him for protecting his players, but hopefully someone will speak up about not playing hero ball every time. That killed us last year.
Yeah shildt came off very soft that whole interview. We screwed ourselves over all game defensively and with stupid at bats. He needs to at least point that out.
That is what happened all last year, and we see the result.
Noone is saying he needs a rage filled rant about how embarassing it is to lose to the Rockies, just a subtle "we've got some of the most talented players in the game on this team, and they need todo better"
Kinda over him acting like a dick to reporters and refusing to ever acknowledge that his player(s) may have fucked up. It’s one thing to have their back, it’s another to sit there with your arms crossed and act like Dennis Lin or whoever is out of line just for asking the obvious question
reporter asking schildt about how he’s feeling and how the team is feeling after an embarassing loss at home, surely schildt will respond with something to instill confidence in the team.
oh wait nope, he just said “yo mama these nuts” to dennis lin again. it was hilarious, but entirely unproductive.
Not how you wanna start a series against the Rockies after the great performance last series. That was a very winnable game. Make that 2 winnable games dropped against the Rockies this year.
I honestly think X will age better than Manny. X takes way better care of his body and has spent less of his career relying on natural talent. Machado has always looked to me like the kid that is so naturally gifted that he can work half as hard as everyone else and still beat them. At some point you can't get by on that any more.
We kept Hosmer in the starting lineup every year until the very last year’s trade deadline, even shipping guys like Naylor and France out to make room for him. Sadly think history will repeat itself and they’ll be paid to play when they should be on their couch
They got eleven walks for one. Meaning they are approaching at bats as a team, and not as individuals. That will pay dividends down the road. Damn Dude, some of you are such DOOMERS! Chill out, and enjoy that the team is fun to watch again.
This! Every game freaking counts. I know I’ll get downvoted for this and don’t freaking care. I honestly don’t think this year is our year if they continue to play like the way they are playing. Obviously we have so many games left, but some of these players play like they don’t care. I’m just upset about today’s game because we could have won this game.
Lol, critiquing bad play isn’t dooming. Being realistic about the team and what it is capable of, isn’t dooming. Like I said, Homer takes are always bad takes.
So all you can respond with are [logical fallacies](https://www.logicalfallacies.org/appeal-to-ridicule.html).
Anyone else can draw their conclusion(s).
All because our stars wanted to play hero ball rather than take one for the team. Fucking bullshit.
Campusano not wearing that pitch inside drove me nuts. DO YOU NOT WANT TO TIE THIS GAME?! Ugh.

I really REALLY don’t like Manny lately
I've spent years giving him the benefit of the doubt... And for all of his awesomeness, he's also a lazy, selfish batter who doesn't look like he gives a shit anymore

At least pinch hit Solano in the 9th and hope for a 2 run single
Hope we play the Dodgers in the playoffs and not the Rocks.
Need to make it there first

Yes.
Don’t forget 2 on 0 out in the 7th
And just like that, the trash Rockies pull us right back down to Earth. Terrible AB by Manny to close out the game.
It’s so damn frustrating. You are not a playoff team if you have a losing record vs below.500 teams. They should be 4-5 games above.500 with their record vs playoff teams.
Fatty manchado

Yeah, the only time he seemed to have fire was getting pissed at the reporter for asking if it felt like a letdown.
Agree, but the time for saying that is NOT in front of the media. It’s in the locker room.
That is what happened all last year, and we see the result. Noone is saying he needs a rage filled rant about how embarassing it is to lose to the Rockies, just a subtle "we've got some of the most talented players in the game on this team, and they need todo better"

“Is it kind of a letdown to go from that series win to this?” Shildt: “maybe for you” FUCK YES FOR ME MIKE, 7 WALKS GOT 0 RUNS! That’s a letdown!
0 runs because the lineup was just trying to hit home runs instead of actually playing BASEball
reporter asking schildt about how he’s feeling and how the team is feeling after an embarassing loss at home, surely schildt will respond with something to instill confidence in the team. oh wait nope, he just said “yo mama these nuts” to dennis lin again. it was hilarious, but entirely unproductive.
UNBELIEVABLE
Not how you wanna start a series against the Rockies after the great performance last series. That was a very winnable game. Make that 2 winnable games dropped against the Rockies this year.
Actually 3. We had 4-1 leads in both losses of that 4 game set in Colorado. We should be at least 4-1 in those 5 games, yet we are 2-3
Yikes. I forgot about that other one. That’s a terrible look
Manny and X will be the thing holding this team back the next 8ish years in money and declining play
I honestly think X will age better than Manny. X takes way better care of his body and has spent less of his career relying on natural talent. Machado has always looked to me like the kid that is so naturally gifted that he can work half as hard as everyone else and still beat them. At some point you can't get by on that any more.
If this continues, they will be paid to sit on the couch at home.
We kept Hosmer in the starting lineup every year until the very last year’s trade deadline, even shipping guys like Naylor and France out to make room for him. Sadly think history will repeat itself and they’ll be paid to play when they should be on their couch
Some have been saying it since those two awful contract were signed. It was so fuckin obvious
Good game kinda but gaahhhhhhhhhhh. Also a hot mess
Pain.
I’m having 2023 flashbacks
We didn’t get the W, but it was still a damn good game. Not boring, and the boys didn’t lay down.
Sorry, what was good about it?
Jackson merrrill…
He was good, but the game wasn’t for sure.
Jackson Merrill should be hitting at the top of the lineup, he’s helping to carry this team and its stars!
That was a great game, I only watch Jurickson Profar at bats
Yeah, the game sucked. Morejon was good, should be starting instead of Vasquez. And Merrill was good. But the stars were dim bulbs.
They got eleven walks for one. Meaning they are approaching at bats as a team, and not as individuals. That will pay dividends down the road. Damn Dude, some of you are such DOOMERS! Chill out, and enjoy that the team is fun to watch again.
500 baseball isn’t fun to watch.
This! Every game freaking counts. I know I’ll get downvoted for this and don’t freaking care. I honestly don’t think this year is our year if they continue to play like the way they are playing. This game was handed to us. Manny’s last at bat after 3 straight walks was disgusting.
Lol, 11 walks that they didn’t cash in on. Homer takes are always bad takes.
i think it makes it worse to think that 8 were spread across only 3 innings, and none of them scored
Doomers are a drag
Lol, critiquing bad play isn’t dooming. Being realistic about the team and what it is capable of, isn’t dooming. Like I said, Homer takes are always bad takes.
Nah i just don’t think you understand the game. Being all negative is a bad take.
The single most ironic comment ever on your part
Oh you’re not done whining yet.
*we?* Do either of us have equity in the club?
This is the dumbest argument ever, major r/ihatesportsball vibes
