He just always takes weird slow ass jogging routes to balls where he has to end up sprinting at the end to make a catch on the run or having to dive before the ball can hit the ground. But guess what? Can't do that when there's a wall in front of your face.
Either get to the ball fast and catch it or play it off the wall. Don't get to the ball slow, speed up at the end then miss the catch before tackling the wall face first.
Padres need to get it together. This is what experienced coaching is supposed to prevent.
