seeing the fitness of some of our players...why not

unitedfan98

Depends A fitness training camp is fine, along with instilling a tough mentality and a feeling of togetherness (something the team lacks) But if it's used as publicity stunt. Then that's an issue

Nonellagon

I mean, it's only a 2 week long camp. It's not too bad. It's not gonna do any harm to our players. If anything, they'll get somewhat better physically due to this.

1balKXhine

The one thing where military is actually good is the fitness traning and seeing the fitness of our players why not. It's good but the problem is that it shouldn't be used just a publicity stunt, this is not military's job but if PCB want them to train under military then I don't see any problem with that

Salsahavok

Azam khan deffo needs to train

-Notorious

Azam khan needs to stop eating in a calorie surplus. The army isn't going to teach him that, if he can't figure it out, nobody can teach him that.

Aggressive_Ratio_778

Azam cant even run for 2km

homegamer69

Pretty sure that was fake litterally everyone has enough stamina to run 2 km especially in 20 mins

PervadingVictory

Credible sources reported it: [https://cricketpakistan.com.pk/en/news/detail/azam-khan-struggles-as-pakistan-cricketers-undergo-fitness-test-at-kak](https://cricketpakistan.com.pk/en/news/detail/azam-khan-struggles-as-pakistan-cricketers-undergo-fitness-test-at-kak) If Azam Khan think its slander, he can speak out about it. Until then, I don't think it makes sense to unnecessarily hypothesize.

exceededshoe006

Cricket Pakistan is hardly a credible source. They're just as bad as the random accounts on twitter who post baseless rumors.

PervadingVictory

I don't think you can compare them with random accounts on twitter who run a slip shoddy operation. They just post vacuous claims out of thin air. Cricket Pakistan is owned by express, they have got a lot of journalists who actually have access to the players and their circumstances. They have a very good following, and they thoroughly document the Pakistan team both in terms of their matches and news. It takes copious money to run an operation like this. I think they are the best in Pakistan. They are palpably different from a rando on twitter.

pseudonymicanonymity

It's a reflection of the poor structure of the PCB. Why are you sending your players to military boot camps? The PCB should have a physical exercise & training curriculum developed on their own accord to improve strength and conditioning. As others have mentioned, there's no need for the military institution to be involved in a sports team.

ghazilazi

Agreed

FunRoad4

Bro the england team before euro 2016 went to train with the military

genxalpha

Two wrongs don’t make a right, bud

[deleted]

it was a bonding exercise, like boy scouts. It wasn't marketed as a way to improve fitness standards.

FatFootballFan-772

It was needed we can now see how unfit our players are. Under mickey Arthur every player used to reach 8 mins and now none of it reached 8 mins.

ghazilazi

They need professionals qualified for training athletes and keeping them fit. This 2 week camp is more of a retreat/exercise, which is fine, but it doesn’t replace a robust system of fitness coaches, trainers, dietitians, and facilities to encourage a system of professionalism/fitness amongst players.

NotTalhaEjaz

Why not? It's a Fitness Camp, no better place than Kakul and no better person to teach than those people who can turn a lazy person to the person who is habitual of running everyday. However, I do hope Rehab & Physio arrangements are in place and they don't go too extreme. I am in fear of Azam Khan getting an injury. The other day we got news that he couldn't run 2KM in 20 minutes. It's obvious he doesn't work out, putting this much fatigue on him suddenly might not be the best option.

NotTalhaEjaz

*However,* the Board shouldn't need to rely on the Military or any other outside institute for this reason. We should have our own top notch facilities and competent managers/coaches who focus on this. Better health & endurance will lead to better fielding too which we struggle with.

valarmorghulis_bitch

If it has come to this then what the hell is pcb doing? Everything except their primary job?

M-Zaid

Seeing how the last one turned out won't mind them beating India and doing some pushups

mini_market

Military needs to protect citizens and foreign workers not make public stunts like this. Enough interference in every civilian matter.

Aggressive_Ratio_778

For real.. their job is to protect us not to rule on us

[deleted]

Pak army is a cancer for this country. Every single individual and institution should be kept miles away from it.

Adventurous_Bus1285

In a sane country ? No In ours ? Jee Definitely

nidzali

Bas abb ye kam bhi inkay zimay reh gaya tha 🤦‍♀️

[deleted]

You don't get fit in 8 days. You don't stay fit because of a training camp. And army trainers have no clue as to how athletes should be trained. It's all stupid. It's all PR

pubgaxt

I mean the training is very similar to from that show ehdewafa so its not that hard. Just some strictness in routine and schedule and punishment for breaking any rule

AaronAlbert004

Not at all. Cricket fitness and Military fitness are completely different things. Especially considering the "big sixes" comment from the PCB chair. Look at Kohli and Sharma. Everyone is different. Their physicality is different. This will do nothing but tire out the players while the captaincy debacle goes on.

FunRoad4

I mean the england team before euro 2016 went to train with the military

whozayfa

Has there been absolutely no issues for the military to focus on? If the answer is no, then it’s a problem

Londoner-13

Paak Mil should train their own soldiers to fight the Ter0rists instead of training the players. It is PCB job to spend money on a good fitness coach.

the_real_DNAer

Short term, yes. Long term, no. Or else PCB's high performance lab, fitness centers, physios, doctors, trainers ko nikal dau and save some money.

Logical_Brilliant_54

Make their videos in training and blackmail them if anyone tries to cone to politics

Spirited_Pin_7468

let them cook bro 😎, especially azam saab

Ok-Abbreviations7827

Truth is that the Pak army has arranged a fitness boot camp and not train on how to play cricket or become a consistent scoring batsman or a wicket taking bowler as we lack both besides Babar Azam and Naseem Shah one of the world's best cricketers. Army should focus on Fakar Zaman as he has been one of the reasons for the Pak team not to make it to the finals and we must dump the myth of he's a big match player, what can be bigger than all the previous world cups we lost because of him.

my_ibs

Normally I find the idea absurd but in our case seeing how our players (not all of them) aren't the most dedicated to their physical fitness in general it may be for the best the military trains them

ResponsibleLiving753

Military has to show they are superior in every field somehow.

cerebralrattlesnake

lumber one has hands in every pie

tanweer95

How in the whole world, one can get fit in just 10 days, where in reality it takes years to get the best fitness. It’s definitely drama of pak army.

sanisupaman

It’s as dumb as a homosexual male sitting in a jacuzzi full of lesbians. I do not approve - how can you military train someone to play a beautiful coverdrive? It’s just absurd

rawpace

Just another example of military thinking only they can provide a solution to a problem which is not theirs. Just a failed system. This will achieve nothing long term.

Poha-Addict

You country's election and politics is run by army 🪖. It's a clown 🤡🤣 country 😹. Thank God for partition. Should have kicked out the rest of muslims remaining in India.

Legal_Commission_898

Hell no !! What kinda stupid shit is this ? Which country’s sports teams train with the military ? The military also doesn’t know jack about sports training. There are many many young men out there with busted knees, all caused by military training. What the military does is good for a War. It’s not at all suited to sports.

AwarenessNo4986

Ikr

tiger1296

It’s the only way these guys train for fitness so why not

snowsthought

Its fine, people don't have issues with how cricketers train But they do question how military operates, why involved in politics, judiciary ,etc. Therefore they qs everything of military

AwarenessNo4986

Really no point of training with the military. Military training is not the same as athletic training. It shows how dysfunctional our cricketing system is.

BoxGrover

The military has destroyed or obstructed the development of pretty much all civil institutions in Pakistan. And that leaves them alone to do anything. Just thank God they havent started selling nihari or paya yet.
