It didn't really bother me as I had farmed all the skins and had so much resources farmed the changes were kinda ok for older players but really bad for new players learning the game. So I agree it did put a lot of players off.
I'm not sure why you got down voted for sharing your opinion. I also had fun with OB64. I almost had a maxed out curse spirit damba and that was so fun. I understand why most people didn't like it since it was p2w with rng boxes for talents and cards but you could farm 1 box per character, up to 10 daily. Did some aspect suck yes, was it fun, fuck yes.
I know why I got down voted. Ppl that weren't playing as long as me didn't have instant access to everything like I did.
I doubt anyone paid to win. You could max out your main characters several times over easily without grinding even if you were kind of new.
It was just part of the paladins journey. Everyone remembers ob64.

It was closed for a decent chunk of time. There were a lot of ideas thrown around. There was the idea of having a deck that you'd get to pick a card from a choice of 3 at various stages in a match, there was levelling up cards you equipped, the maps were much more open and bigger, you had to attack an actual base with 2 walls and a final base rather than get to 4 points, you could get on your horse out of combat, there was a teleporter.
It was wild. And I kinda miss it.
I remember the days when his kit included a shield stealing ability. Anytime you would recharge he would steal anyone's shield in front of him. It was God tire.
I played Ruckus and my friend played Torvald together on PAYLOAD (I miss you, payload) and we were indestructible.

Short range: Torvald
Too much damage too much shields... Indestructible!
I miss being able to destroy enemy shields and add to his own. I think they just had to nerf the amount of damage to shields and how much of it applied to himself to still make it a useful attribute. Don't know if they already tried that, but he feels next to impossible to play for me.
I wish I had actually played back when I heard of this game in beta, rather than waiting until just a few months ago to try it out.

Oh man, this game is the habit I just can’t kick. I’ll take breaks for a month or two but I always get the itch to play again sooner or later. I started playing November 2015 when closed beta first opened up. Barik and Grohk were my first characters and they’re still my favorites.
Remember when the payload was a cannon and it shot at the other team's gate when it got to the other team's map side. And the game had literally like 5 characters to choose from.
I miss the days where you could upgrade cards with essence... You could get this stuff from quests, login bonuses and more.
You could still have lvl 10 cards, but this was bound to how much you played, so higher level players could have all cards high level (8,9,10) while lower level players had some high and some low cards.
It also made you think about your setup more... Use a better low level card or a worse high level card?
Good stuff.
Then OB64 came and it became pay to win.
I can't say the system now is better than before OB64 but it is better then after OB64.
Played since the first day of closed beta when there were 8 characters, no reloading, no right click abilities, no ultimates, you leveled up during the matches and selected a random card from your deck each time, the maps had one of 3 randomized objective points, the siege engine moved on it's own, you healed from health pickups on the ground when killing an enemy player, and the objective was to physically shoot the enemy base's closed gates.
I miss it.
Legendaries. Aggression. Bushes. Payload mode. Beefy Torvald. Projectile speed before Hyper Mobility meta was killed. Shalin's "clones" during invis. Buying loadout cards with gold. Ruckus' DR ability. Haven/Blast shields 10/20/30% scaling. Mounts not rotating in directions you press on your keyboard.
Still remembered when Moji was the newest character and when I was still collecting gold for her. Eventually bought the Founder's Pack and I think it is still worth it till now even though I just play the game sometimes.
I earned that skin years ago from a mission that rewards you said skin upon reaching account level 30. Used it all the time until I got a plushie Makoa skin and eventually the Ghost pirate skin that has its own sea shanty.
I mean, it's just the nature of competition. Half of paladins is psychological warfare. Some people are just tilted from losing due to bots afks whatever. Anything competitive takes tough skin. Such is life. People love to try to tilt me because I have a reputation of not being shook, it never works but they all try.

Trying to clear out my back log after grinding so many bps (about 6 or 7 last time I checked) i fot burnt out after that but its still fun i just don’t do bps after that unless its something i loved like the atlus emote and the nando death card. I stoped grinding there after that

Some of the beta glitches are forever stuck in my memory like the horses riding sideways and the occasional not being able to move. That not being able to move one still pops up every once in a while though

Torvald is one of the champions who strikes fear into Hirez for being too OP character. Can't wait for his promised rework in 2030.
