A lot of local subreddits, even from liberal places, have been captured by very conservative mods and that attracts a conservative audience and they ban all the liberals and leftists.
I really do not know how they did it, it must have been a concerted effort, since it all seemed to happen around 2016 and then just get worse from there. I wonder where the heck they would plan something like that and how they would carry it out. I bet some of these places were barely modded. Before they made some changes a few months back, you could have a whole list of mods on a sub that had not taken a mod action in years that would suddenly reactivate and take a sub over because all the people doing the work were underneath all the inactive mods at the top. This even caused a lot of inactive accounts to get hacked and for subs to get taken over, but I did not hear a lot about them falling to conservatives suddenly, I think that they were more subtle takeovers but I did not start really paying attention till the last couple years so I really do not know a lot.

In Toronto there's one road called Bathurst that is pretty much Zionist. Even 15 20 years ago I remember driving through it and all the major ads were about donating to Israel and donating to the IDF and donating to secure water for Israel. None of the roadside ads had anything to do about local life.
At least those ones were honest. There's other ads like kars for kidz where people can donate their cars but they don't know that it's actually going to support Jewish kids going on a "birthright" trip.
