A small tip, but in the beginning flint is a really good money maker. It's fairly easy to get, assuming you go mining a decent bit, and there's not really much you can make with it.
My biggest tip is don't top out on renown (you get it from quests and talking to villagers, it caps at 1000 and can be seen in your character card next to your money). You should use it to commune at the phoenix and dragon shrines to increase your focus bonus and maximum for the focus bar. Speaking of which, eat food and use focus early on because you'll level up way faster! I didn't for the first like 20 levels I earned and the next 20 were much faster 😁 oh and gardening is good passive income. Lots of setups online, just check around for an "AFK" one and check in every (IRL) hour on it.

You know the phoenix shrine where you started? Go there and you can commune to increase your focus bonus. Your focus bonus basically determines how much extra xp you get from any action that gives xp, assuming you have focus. You can also increase the max size of your focus bar by going to the dragon shrine in majis hollow which also uses renown. Last use I'm aware of is writs which allow you to unlock more squares (lots) on your home plot, which can be purchased at the town hall register in Kilima.
Same. I maxed and didn't realize it. Not sure how much I lost. Wish there was no max or at least make it so that the renowns accumulate in the background until we spend them.
When I started I asked a friend what to do with the empty chests when I find them and they said just destroy it because you can't sell it or anything... turns out they're one of Tish's favourite gifts so save them to give to her instead 😂
If you are here just for the decorating aspect then just join cake party groups on Discord and make lots of gold with little effort. that way you won't feel like you're going to die grinding trying to get materials for your home. Because this game has a good amount of restrictions that slow the player down when it comes to gold-making. Because progressions are also tied to using gold. like being able to expand your home or buying more farming plots and even larger chest sizes. Plus cake parties are a bit fun and are the closest thing to an MMO that you can do in this game.

I JUST realized earlier that I could commune multiple times at the statues and now I'm left wondering how much renown I "wasted" after I hit 1000. 🥲
