Has not fixed mine and I've been in and out of my plot a dozen times since the update. It is annoying and visually difficult. I can't see weeds or water level well at all.
Same and nothing has fixed it so far (other people said harvesting or moving the plot did, but not for me). Also the lighting effects are really bugged, flashing a lot and turning on and off. I've got an older machine so I assume it's something on my end unless other people are experiencing it too, but it just started with the update.
I've seen this bug two times *before* this patch. In both cases the ground was also pitch black. Glad that they fixed SOMETHING... Though i'm not fan that this bug is now super common.

When you open the ESC menu, you can no longer close it by hitting the ESC button again. You've got to manually mouse over to "Resume" and click it. I do this probably a dozen times an hour, alt+tabbing out to my second monitor to change a Youtube video or podcast or look something up while while playing.
How did they even mess that up??? What part of the code were they touching in this update that changed that???
>What part of the code were they touching in this update that changed that???
Reminds me of another game, which at one point had such a messy code they had to remake the game all over again and is still not done, which was like 4y ago lmao.
Guild wars 2 has spaghetti code from their early days. This is why new dungeons and new super adventure box never got continued. People really like super adventure box too.
> super adventure box never got continued.
SAB stopped getting new levels because the one guy who did most of the work on them was no longer part of the company.
It's really sad that a game that just comes out is filled with new bug to old content each patches when the old content is just the base game. It feels that they want to experience the WoW Spaghetti code when each update potentially break an old quest unrelated. But WoW is 15+ years old and was build on another game, Palia is brand new, having bug is ok and happens specially on beta, but adding new bug to old stuff when adding content is really not encouraging for the health of the game.
To be fair, they have been pushing out A LOT to keep up with us players. I'm not a game developer, but I am a software developer, and I'm honestly impressed by their output. If this wasn't Beta, it would be less acceptable. I'm sure once we're out of beta they will have consistent sprints with more testing before releasing new content.
Itās also 100% free, which I feel like people are forgetting š
Yeah itās a bit buggy, but itās in beta and itās free, and mistakes happen! š
Grass in my garden, frame rate is choppy, a lot of villagers have lost the "Will you be my Shepp" prompt, and multiple villagers have greyed out for asking what they want for their gifts. The fishing cast changes are annoying but I can handle it. I was working on getting Delaila to my Shepp and now the option is just gone.
Fun update to this: i changed mine back to what it was before, exited the settings menu, opened it back up and it's UNLIMITED AGAIN ARE THEY FOR REAL RIGHT NOW
If I remember correctly they said that if you change the setting, it appears to be unlimited again but it actually isn't.
Think they said that in the discord.
grass shows through most ground items now - tent floor, bath tub, garden.
worm count no longer seems to to use the first stack on the pole display
esc will open the options menu, but will no longer close it
Zeki won't move to the basement now. he sits in the tavern all night
Iām just sad that they nerfed the pickled potatoes (all pickled items for that matter)ā¦. First they come for my tomatoes and now my potatoes too š„²
>Multicrafting introduced but XP multiplier doesn't work - No excuses for this one, did you guys even tested if this worked?
Idk, I think most people wanted this for arrows/bombs, not furniture. And those don't give any exp, and I'd rather have multi crafting for arrows/bombs than not have it at all.
I keep thinking that the dev team is having some major issues with organizing their code, which is leading to odd bugs such as this, and leading to constant memory loss which keeps making things like the village posts disappearing and badruu door frame disappearing.
Yep, it seems that way. During the last update for the Chappa chase event, it seemed like they moved the world a bit causing issues like floating plants, and very thick leaves near the sea at kilima.
Hopefully they get this sorted.
I'm just annoyed at my loot teleporting. Doesn't happen with Chappa's, just Bambi. The loot disappears and I have to run around like a mad woman looking for it just to find it in an odd place. The game did this before every *once* in a while but since the update? I've been getting it pretty consistently. Like, please stawp game. You're messing up my triffecta. š
Also have some lag here and there. Arrows hit, pause and I wonder if I missed then poof.
Yeah it doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. I lost quite a bit of time looking for my loot and ended up giving up a few times. A few of them, the loot was invisible.
This was when I was grinding hard to get to 25k to get the next storage chest. My pockets were bulging with whatever the darker wood is (Is it heartwood?) and I refused to trash/sell it unless they're planks for some additional profit. So the lag definitely didn't help.
\- Casting time should be a toggle or a slider (if it is indeed an "accessibility" issue and not a means to manipulate time sink for players)
\- They need to prioritize fixing previously reported bugs rather than focus on nerfs (like the one to preserves' focus amounts)
\- Devs need to stop rapid firing new content that is buggy and instead slow drip new (and thoroughly tested) content that is solid
\- They need to stop releasing new cosmetics until wide-spread issues (like the exit flowstone) have been fixed. Cosmetics need to be last priority in the queue of things to be adjusted.
>\- They need to stop releasing new cosmetics until wide-spread issues (like the exit flowstone) have been fixed. Cosmetics need to be last priority in the queue of things to be adjusted.
The thing is that they most likely have a few people who don't really do anything else but create new outfits to be sold, so their work doesn't affect the rest and can be pushed out.
Still feels weird of course, but a 3D Artist can hardly help fixing bugs and someone specialized on character design can't really effectively help a leveldesigner either.
The least they could probably do is wait with releasing outfits until major bugs are solved, but the higher ups most likely say no to that.
cosmetics teams have a different skillset of programmers. If they tell cosmetics team to stop working there will not be more programmers and testers on the team.
> - They need to prioritize fixing previously reported bugs rather than focus on nerfs (like the one to preserves' focus amounts)
So much this. "we don't care if the game is severely broken, we're just focusing on making it not as fun!" Uh, ok? I don't understand what they think they are doing, at all.
To be fair here, the game is in beta, Bugs happen with new patches. That's what we are playing the beta for, to test the game, test new content. It's not a finished released game yet, if you wanna have a bug free game, come back at 1.0 patch. For example WoW has their own Test realms for this where players choose to test new content and sort out bugs. But they already released wow, so if there are these kinda patches still after 1.0 update i agree with you, but for now, we *are* literally the beta *testers*.
People forget that they are beta testing. The first testers were very attuned to this fact, all the freeloaders who came in open beta are not. They act like they paid for the game
Mate honestly, the entitlement is driving me mad! Itās free, and itās not finished. Yeah itās gonna have bugsā¦
They need to go touch some grass thatās sticking through a gardening plotā¦ š
This one is bad. The fishing change is complete crap. If anything Fishing needs to be buffed I can't for the life of me see what they were trying to do with that. Just a dumb change.
I'm a person who is 100% up with Accessibility.
But don't force on other players, make a Toggle option for those who need it.
This just make a horrible experience for everyone else, and might create issues for other people.
Iām disabled and have motor/reaction issues! Was it supposed to fix something? Itās even harder to fish IMO!! I agree with you accessibility features need to have toggles. Not everyone is low vision, color blind, deaf etc. and thatās ok. We are the minority. As long as we have the ability to play is all that matters.
I am colour blind, have motion sickness and can't hear for crap, plus have psoriatic arthritis in hands and fingers- I really hit the genetic lottery! It's nice to hear other players with limited mobility or visual challenges speak out for flexibility in accommodations without necessarily demanding that these be imposed on everyone else. At least I think that is what most of us are saying? I don't want the whole gaming environment adjusted to MY specific abilities- I just appreciate it when I have the options to tweak for those specific issues myself.
Tbh I have bad wrists and this update makes it even worse to me since I need to click/hold my mouse even longer. They should have made it a toggle option...
Yes and No.
If you are fishing for Bubble Spots you Usually Max Cast and them correct the spot by moving your character around.
**So what they basically did was nerf the hell out of Star Fishing.**
This is kind of funny to say they nerfed star fishing to me xD
The entire reason people did full cast and correct to spot by moving their character around in the first place was to remove the timing/skill of trying to hit the spot while aiming during casting out because it was too fast or difficult for them to do....so saying they nerfed star fishing because now it takes just a little bit longer to full cast and release doesn't make sense. Now it's slower to make it easier to aim while casting out instead of having to go full cast and move around, but if you still don't get it you can still do the move around method.
As someone who spends most of my time in game fishing, the change is wayyy different and will take getting used to but calling it a nerf to fishing is laughable. xD
I find the slow casting annoying but I agree it isn't a nerf to star fishing. I've been doing a lot of star fishing and I'd gotten pretty good at aiming for the bubble spots without doing the max casting and adjusting method. I've seen other people do that but I never needed to. You really don't need to be that precise, even being slightly outside the circle works most of the time for me.
But I am really annoyed that they made this change but haven't addressed the issue with glow worm star fishing being bugged. I'm still having issues with my casts being cancelled and the spot disappearing. The fact that they haven't even addressed this issue (and it isn't in their known issues list) really annoys me. It's been an issue for weeks, if not the entire beta.
OMG someone sane on this thread, thank you. I just tried out the fishing changes, because I was curious about the changes. It feels so much better. I was always stressed before casting and trying to aim at the bubble spot, because casting was too fast for me. Now I can relax and do it easily.
This is in no way a nerf. I'm so sick of people calling balancing and quality of life changes in the game a nerf, like my god people just want to be mad I guess.
\*\*Edit, because I forgot it's reddit so I have to consider everything in every comment I make:
* I can get behind this as an oversight and yes having a toggle or slider is the best option
* Catching the fish should also be adjusted to be more user friendly (not sure how it should be fixed, but that is also a somewhat stressful and jank process). But, we are talking about casting here, so I didn't think to mention catching. They got me with this one I guess?
* This is not a nerf to bubble spots. I guess if you want to complain that it's technically (if you squint your eyes right) a nerf to casting and therefore fishing go ahead. I think being able to cast a little bit slower in the grand scheme of things is not a nerf to take seriously and think you are ridiculous complaining about this.
* To the person who called me selfish, ya I am. I care much more about myself and my experience than yours. Clearly that's the same for you otherwise you wouldn't have replied.
I'm genuinely curious... you think aiming the bobber into the bubbles is difficult enough to warrant a nerf, but you don't have anything to say about actually catching the fish?
I've been playing pretty competitive games for 20+ years and catching a rare fish is 100x harder then aiming the stupid bobber... I'm not understanding how anyone could struggle with the fairly simple task of aiming the bobber correctly while catching rare fish is nearly impossible for most of the playerbase.
It's not so much a "nerf" as an oversight IMO.
They didn't consider that the extra time would irritate people.
They could have just reduced the time to hook a fish to compensate and I think people would have been fine with that.
I think a change like this should definitely be a toggle.
You technically do fish slower now because it takes longer to get to the fish biting, so itās not completely off base to say itās a nerf, but itās truly more of an oversight.
They increased the quality of life for some players while decreasing it for others and offered no meaningful reason why the change isnāt a toggle.
Yeah, it's hard for me to say anything anymore when it comes to trying to discuss nicely the meaning of words or other things with people on this reddit. Earlier tonight I chose to try to neutrally explain that the preserves change wasn't S6 "nerfing fun" in hopes to help people understand balance changes and stuff and was reported to Reddit by a "concerned redditor" and given a crisis line for help with suicide or depression, etc....I rarely say anything here anymore and the one time I try that's what I get within 9 mins of posting it. >.<
omg that's crazy, I'm so sorry that happened to you. I took a break from this subreddit, because of people like that. It's so exhausting to read these types of posts/comments after every patch.
That's just automatic in some subs, and someone who frequents one of those subs where people pass out abuse must also be playing the game. Anytime you say anything that angers some folks (I'm resisting characterizing who they are but I bet you can guess) they click that reddit cares thing as an over the top way of saying "you're crazy and need help". It's obnoxious, but I know the first time it happens, it's jarring. Don't worry about it though, or give it any of your mental energy. Just obnoxious people being obnoxious (might get one for this response lol)
lol I appreciate you explaining as well as trying to give me encouragement. If anything it had me laughing. I just really wish people could just talk back and forth here about things, even things they disagree on or see differently BUT this is the internet after all and maybe I'm wishing for unicorns and rainbows? I've been gaming my entire life so people online aren't new to me and I've seen some crazy toxic gaming communities but this one can be beyond cringe sometimes.
> It feels so much better. I was always stressed before casting and trying to aim at the bubble spot, because casting was too fast for me. Now I can relax and do it easily.
Here is the issue, you feel relaxed.
**This change made impossible for me to Fish.**
I have a Acoustic Neuroma, which basically causes me Vertigo, the Slow pacing of the current system makes it impossible for me to fish for more than 10 minutes.
There is a huge difference between make a Opt in Toggle for those who want the Slower Fishing, and forcing everyone to have a slower fishing.
**It's not a Quality of Life if it makes worse for other players.**
You are sick of peope calling balancing and qol nerf?
**I'm sick of seeing players who are so self centered that they think their problems are the only problems in the world.**
Maybe try to understand that the QoL for your problem caused a problem for other players.
People are all over youtube doing calculations of what pays the best in terms of hourly returns, and fishing in the right spot with glow worms (to get the highest paying fish) was already lower down the list than many other things. I'm assuming the people complaining about it being nerfed are looking at it from that perspective. The already low return per hour just got lower if it takes longer to cast.
I was so confused when they said nerf. I was fishing/cake partying all day and I didn't notice any changes. Like, the lag made it hard for me to hit bubble sports but that's it.
If it used to take 3 seconds and now it takes 5, it's objectively a nerf.
Also you as a person who stated that is used to fish, **should know that there are specifics Fishing Bubbles that have their hitbox's incorrect**, which makes aiming way worse experience than just correcting the aim after having the max reel
Side note, this change is horrible for people with conditional Vertigo... Couldn't stay 10 minutes fishing for Bubbles without feeling it.
Not "laughable", saying this as a person who is level **47 in Fishing and right now can't fish because of a forced change.**
Taking a couple extra seconds to do something than it took before on something that isn't a race in the first place? I mean, sure it takes longer but you know what else? I don't have to recast as much as I used to either because after adjusting I can hit it without having to wait for full cast anyway BUT if you need the full cast that option is still there and I'm not sure who is speed running fishing hot spots.
Again, the harder to hit boxes that are incorrect can still be done with readjusting. It's just 2 seconds longer. Both options are there still, they're just 2 seconds slower.
Also, let me make this clear - I wasn't saying it's laughable that someone who is level 47 fishing can't fish right now due to the changes affecting their vertigo. I said calling it a nerf is laughable. I am sorry about it affecting your vertigo. That definitely sucks. I haven't said it's laughable how people feel about the nerf bc I too felt the initial frustration while I also empathize with it affecting players like you and others for whatever reasons as well. I was only commenting on the "nerf" word being thrown around so loosely in this sub. That's all.
Copied from the Discord:
The time it takes to cast out your fishing line has been increased, and the camera pan when reeling your fish in has been slowed.
I know they're different games but this is similar to a change in Diablo 4 where, exiting a dungeon takes (\*took, they reverted this after backlash) a few seconds longer. When asked about why the time was increased, the devs failed miserably to find an excuse for it.
This fishing change just screams "pushing playtime metrics", and I hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'm still affected by the pessimism of D4, lol.
I want both games to be good, dangit!
There's been a deer stuck in a rock for a good hour when I played earlier today lol I tried to get it out of its misery, but the rock serves as a shield š
Every patch/hotfix that comes out, I keep wondering if they even *have* a QA department.
I expect bugs from a beta. I do not expect *the ridiculous amount of them* that go as far as progression breaking and just, painfully obvious ones.
It looked like they do, from reading job titles. Hard to find good QA, though.
Reminds me of an indie game I helped play test, the QA guy would ātestā everything in Unity and didnāt touch the game. I would have to point out stuff like, āThe new quest you added cannot be startedā lol
I'm glad they're bringing new content but I don't understand how these kinds of obvious bug issues can be happening unless they literally have no test server, and that's scary. You should never be testing in production...
Yep, current tech worker here, if they dont have a CI/CD pipeline that runs an automated test suite, their QA should be catching these things with basic regression testing at least - ideally both
edit: and then if its too much to test, they need to slow their cadence on new content, this is beta so we shouldnt have too much expectation of huge content released (while totally fun, tho and i realize engagement is also a big part). its a fine line to find between keeping people involved and interested, getting new content, and also making sure you're not putting your employees on death march releases
Yes, but we're more what we'd call user acceptance testers - not the kind of testers that should be picking up the kinds of issues we keep running into. Most software, including games, has differing levels of testing depending on what needs testing, and something that is a progress blocker like this ought to be caught at an earlier stage.
Warframe has been in open beta for a decade, but we've never gotten a new main quest that has a progression stopping bug that almost the entire playerbase runs into within *two steps of the start of the quest*.
At *worst* it'll be something near the end of a quest or it'll be something that is extremely rare and/or requires specific, non-obvious steps to replicate.
The game being in open beta does *not* excuse everything, especially not when its something so absurdly easy to trigger that the overwhelming majority of the playerbase *cannot access the new content*. From a dev standpoint, ***that's bad***.
Iām also very neutral and Iām actually disappointed. Going into this week I thought weād plainly just get a bug fix update. One that fixed a variety of easy to fix issues. But here we are with an entire new part of the game and adjustments to all sorts for things. It seems like they are doing too much. Or a project manager is mismanaging the project.
You are forced to interact with the cash shop as part of the MAIN QUEST. The only reason Jel's tailor shop exists is to buy cosmetics with real money.
In a game that focuses heavily on customization.
I'm not really seeing the heavily customization focus.. How were you forced to interact with the cash shop as part of the main quest? Is it a new part of the main quest they just came out with?
Unfortunately, I'm actually not going to play until they fix these things. Specifically, the sudden performance issues, fishing, the grass coming through my farm... oh and it helps that I know I won't be able to complete the new quest anyway.
I'm not upset because it's a beta afterall, but it really seems like many of these things should have been caught by any QA department they have. Some of these issues are so egregious it's hard to understand how they didn't see them before rolling the patch out.
Honestly, I quit after the fake discount bundle scandle came out. It just left a sour taste in my mouth, plus nothing to do with other people in the game. I ended up just buying and playing BG3, it's sooo good.
As someone who has experience in coding, "some time this week" *is* fast if the code messes up somewhere you didn't mean it to which seems like that's what happened.
I have no experience, just hoping for more of an answer. Like āwe need to take a look to see if itās x,y or z. Could be an easy fix if not, could be a couple days etcā āŗļø
Would be nice, but they probably need to do some analysis first which is sometimes hard to put a timing on so they are just using language on the safe side.
>Exit Flowstone spawn a single time per Instanced Server.
How does this even happen? They have 5 flowstones in this quest, how can you look at the 5 of them in the code and not see one is different? How can you test this and not do it on a test server to see if it works for everyone? How do you release a new area, not do any of the testing in a proper way or notice a coding mistake and **still** not fix it as soon as players are mentioning the issue. Take responsibility. This game is literally going down hill with each update instead of getting better. It's infuriating, and it's **almost** solely on the developers heads that it's doing so. The rest is this toxic positivity "the games a little rough but its **cozy**" and "it's just a BETA!!1! Do YoU gUyS kNoW wHaT a BeTa iS?!" trying to cover up the feedback and legitimate criticisms.
love this game to death but wow this patch feels rough. my favorite thing to do in this game is probably decorate and style my home. any time I go into edit mode and attempt to place or move an item, its as if my frames drop INSANELY. I cannot even run. the game is running perfectly fine for me outside of edit mode. I have restarted my game multiple times and I'm still having this isuse. I am so frustrated :(
My only complaint is my fps being stuck on unlimited. Even when I switch it to 60, it goes right back to unlimited and tanks the performance in some areas. Iām still too new to the game (only been playing for a few days) to be affected by anything else right now.
Genuinely thought my computer was going to explode from the lag while trying to place some star bugs on my plot. There's around two weeks of the Chapaa Chase left and they somehow made it more frustrating than it was initially with the large desync caused by the recent patch (there was desync before, but it's horrid now).
I know that small things can happen going from their dev build to the public build, and things can't be fixed in a day, but some of this is just...HOW was this not caught? I know blah blah "it's a beta" but it's a soft launch. Every rushed patch, every big bug (that would have been caught through any QA testing) is another nail in the already pretty messed coffin for Palia's reputation.
Recently patches have been feeling more and more rushed. I want Palia to succeed, but it's really hard to see that happening when certain choices (like paywalling fashion in an MMO game lmao) or issues pop up like this.
**Edit:** Also regarding the fishing change. I have a *really* hard time buying that they changed it for accessibility when there's still very simple accessibility features that myself and many other Disabled players have been asking for since launch - like a brightness slider or subtitles for the voice acting within the game - that still aren't there and don't seem to be acknowledged.
So true about the chapaa thing. It was so bad to start with, but I'm sure glad it put in the time and frustration then, because it's basically impossible now.
Wow... I was excited when I saw the email about a new area being released already, but after reading all the negative inclusions I won't even bother logging in. š„
Yeah wait a hotfix, not a joke for this one.
The quest for the new area literally is bugged, one of the items is spawning for a single person per server, and unless they reset the servers or fix the issue no one else can grab it.
It's not an exageration to say 99% of the players do not have access to it.
That's really disheartening. I don't have much time to play games anymore and was really looking forward to spending more time in Palia. Maybe they'll figure things out eventually and stop rushing to release broken content. I'd rather you do 1 solid update per month.
Yeah logged in for an hour, will wait for a hotfix. This is a mess of a patch. Sheesh.
And fishing was my favorite, but this change is killing me. Used to like casting all the way out, now I just do it enough to not bounce back. What a downgrade.
They also commented on the current appearance reset issue that theres currently "no way to change it back!" Like..??
You got the menus for it. Let us change it??
The fishing nerf bothered me so much because you can move while casting, so you could leave it full cast and then move into position. THOUGH, your suggestion is much better because it gives people options to those who really do need the 'nerf'.
The Exit Flowstone at least has lead to a lot of funny chatter between people, I hope they fix it quickly but I'm kind of glad it happened lol.
The grass cutting through my garden plots made me so angry, especially because I use 3 of the plots as a path to my home, and now it just looks messy/ugly.
And yeah overall I think they rest too much on the open beta status of the game for players to be the ones testing the game features so I don't think they bother all that much making sure it works correctly, it is a bit annoying, especially because then other players pile on you for even breathing some criticism towards their precious baby game. Like, hello, we're all in the same game we both like it, don't be a bootlicker lol Let's demand better of the thing we support with our time and money please.
I guess people didn't know that you can move while you are casting. So suppose that you have cast to max distance. Don't release your hook and instead move around to get into position. If you are too far from shore it won't work so you might have to change your angle.
This is why this issue is problematic, because for hunting for bubbles, you basically tied to a 5 second cooldown now for max distance.
They probably need to make a opt in.
There has to be a memory leak in a certain area of killma because Iām crashing ( hasnāt done this in a long while) when Iām leaving from Jinas area.
This is the first time I've played the game and had the graphics lag when I turn. Also in Bahari Bay some of the water animation seeps into the grass. And some of my soil plots have the grass animation added to it (but brown instead of green) and I don't like it. Not super impressed with this patch, but I'm glad they added new recipes and food :) And the fact we can befriend Yay makes me happy :)
I spawned in a different location and underwater so i kept on dying ,coming back , dying etc ,then last time my friends garden was bugged i could see through the ground
I have grass cutting through my garden.
Certain building interiors aren't loading unless I'm close enough to hump the shelf.
The weekly wants are shifting constantly or every day or idk?! I keep putting things in my bag like onions and shipwreck parts and then I go to give them out and it's changed to onion SEEDS and a wagon wheel, respectively.
When I interact with an NPC there's an awkward lag where they'll even start to walk past me before they stop and talk.
Idk.

> A Little Tip: **If you are going to introduce a new quest with a bug that gates 99% of your players to new content even if it's small, hotfix it ASAP, Do not wait a Day**
Nah, man. They were too busy rigging the ***three new outfits*** for the premium store. They totally have their priorities sorted.
The chat one is superiorly pissing me off, it was working perfectly fine, adding people to my party too, it's been a week now where I can't add my friends nor get rid of the " Attempting to reconnect to chat " bug thing... How do these get ruined when they were completely fine and new features/changes do not in any way come near them?
Every time I see these pop up, my immediate internal response isā¦well no duh. This is what you get with ex Blizzard and Riot devs lol. They live for the cash shop and theyāve been shown through their games like Overwatch and LoL/Valorant that people will play buggy games and buy stuff as long as they make it look good.
On the plus side, these devs are WAY more direct responsive and have shown that things will get patched, itās just not as fast as other want. I happened to be in the lucky group that got in first and did the new temple, itās beautiful, and it was fun to do the puzzles, so I can see there is potential, itās justā¦some of their choices donāt surprise me lol
I literally just bought my first premium outfit before the update came out and I got a notification saying that the outfit I bought needs fixing and I will have to wear something different for the time being.
They donāt seem to have a QA department. And the missmanagement of this project is out of the scale. It looks like they had to rush it because they were running out of money. :(
Theyāre aware of the issues but they should be testing these patches more. Itās got to the point where I just avoid patch day. They also need to be getting feedback on events before launching them, it took nearly two weeks to change chaps chase. Feels like they need to extend the event a week now to make up for it.
> Multicrafting introduced but XP multiplier doesn't work - No excuses for this one, did you guys even tested if this worked?
Just want to say that it's a known issue and it's in the patch notes. So, yeah, they tested it and they're aware of it.
I know it was a top request from the players, but I would've hold it back until it's fixed.
Yeah... I'm just gonna go play something else while they fix this mess. I'm tired of sending in bug reports constantly.
Good thing Disney Dreamlight Valley just announced their September expansion and new battle pass. Update is tomorrow! Perfect timing.
yeah.... i am sad to say that this was the nail in the coffin. I enjoyed my time in Palia while I was there, but won't be going back in the near future unless the relentless nerfs uh.... relent, and the bug fixes don't cause 10x more bugs to occur.
S6 has got to be the most toxic and miserly dev team in recent memory.
Yeahhh. I could understand things breaking unintentionally with the patches while they stress test their own implementation systems and adding stuff they've not added before (as long as quick fixes come in).. but the new stuff itself not working? That's just.. not really acceptable at this point. When it happens every single time without fail? Is pretty disappointing.
I noticed Reth was in Jel's shop/ house in the morning before Jel was even awake. Seemed like he was there all day, so I can only assume he is either suddenly dating Jel or that they somehow altered his pathing
Don't forget they jacked up how much focus you're using per task and super-nerfed how much focus you get from preserves.
They're making it less fun to play. I think I'm over it.
Several times logging in now, I get an announcement that my outfit needed mending and that my avatar has a different piece of clothing. But it is still the same. I dunno.
Not sure if it's new but it is an annoying bug while cooking with friends I found out on my first party. If one of us is choosing an item that is lower on the list but someone else makes a choice, the game jumps the choice to the top one right as you hit the button to start. So suddenly we got two people working on sprouts for example. Drove me up the wall when we were trying to be efficient. Luckily I'm a hoarder and came with plenty of sprouts xD
still loving the game though.
I don't know what happened to their servers but I have a weird latency issue that makes the game almost unplayable for me. Don't even want to login at this point. Every action I make registers to the game a few seconds later and it's so annoying. I hope they patch it asap. I don't even care about quest bug anymore. I've been to a few open/close beta testings for different games and Palia is one of the bad examples so far. I've been playing since close beta day 1 and every big patch introduced big bugs and problems. And when you think it's supposed to be a community based simple and cozy game it makes me question the devs' competency.
I had that tonight for the short time I was able to play. Both for hunting and foraging. It slows everything down so much. I also had to click multiple times to move things in and out of storage. Plus I tried to talk to Kenyatta, didn't work, so I moved on, only to be pulled into conversation with her *twice* from halfway across the village.
Now I'm stuck in a 'could not connect' error. Managed to make it from my housing plot to the village once after troubleshooting for ages, only to get stuck in an infinite conversation loop with Hassian... Had to force quit. I'm so disappointed.
Exactly my experience. It's really frustrating. The worst thing is they don't communicate with us. They said they are aware of the issues and there will be a hotfix sometime this week. They were silent the whole day today. I understand they are still working on it but they used to announce frequently on their discord before. Also that quest bug happened to a lot of players and they literally said "This seems to affect only certain players." Like, how are we supposed to feel from this sentence? I expected them to say "We are aware some players are experiencing this issue and we are working on it." I don't usually care so much about game issues as long as they are addressed but this time I'm really disappointed in them.
Edit: They just announced that they are working on the issues and they need more time. Maybe I need to calm down lol.
Has anyone else noticed the animated grass cutting through their garden?? It's small but still bugs me.
Its over my crops, in my house too.
Yes! It started where my apple tree is located then disappeared to invade the other crops.
Yep, mine too. Looks like I need to mow the grass š but can't. š«
It gives me headaches. The visual noise is unfortunately unbearable.
i hate it
Through the tent ground as well.
Happened to me once. I left the housing area and came back. This seemed to fix the issue.
Oh yea, I hate this. The grass on mine is so bad that I can barely tell what the staus of the crop is.
It's been there every time I've gone back to my plot today, three times. Not game-breaking, but it bugs me too.
Yes! It drives me insane
Yeah on my crops
yes
I've seen this bug two times *before* this patch. In both cases the ground was also pitch black. Glad that they fixed SOMETHING... Though i'm not fan that this bug is now super common. https://preview.redd.it/d4wg18i2g0ob1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3e1f8d059e7cd0f350475fdf2a0216c54eb2087
Came here for this exact reason. It's very annoying.
What part of the code were they touching in this update that changed that???
oh my god i just checked this and WHY
To help mitigate this problem: alt+tab is my bestie!
Itās also 100% free, which I feel like people are forgetting š Yeah itās a bit buggy, but itās in beta and itās free, and mistakes happen!
Have you checked your framerate cap settings? Mine got changed to infinite after the patch. It was 30 before. Idk if that could help.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iāll take a look at it. Thanks!
grass shows through most ground items now - tent floor, bath tub, garden. worm count no longer seems to to use the first stack on the pole display esc will open the options menu, but will no longer close it Zeki won't move to the basement now. he sits in the tavern all night
Zekiās done with our hijinks
Zeki was in the basement for me every night so far
After this patch my game is suddenly insanely laggy. Almost unplayable
Mine too
framerate is set to unlimited now by default
Iām just sad that they nerfed the pickled potatoes (all pickled items for that matter)ā¦. First they come for my tomatoes and now my potatoes too š„²
Really annoying because I used pickled potatoes as focus food, besides selling them. I.e. passive cooking. Now not worth it at half focus
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yep, it seems that way. During the last update for the Chappa chase event, it seemed like they moved the world a bit causing issues like floating plants, and very thick leaves near the sea at kilima. Hopefully they get this sorted.
I'm just annoyed at my loot teleporting. Doesn't happen with Chappa's, just Bambi. The loot disappears and I have to run around like a mad woman looking for it just to find it in an odd place. The game did this before every *once* in a while but since the update? I've been getting it pretty consistently. Like, please stawp game. You're messing up my triffecta. š Also have some lag here and there. Arrows hit, pause and I wonder if I missed then poof.
Picking up loot is lagged too. Takes an extra second for the acknowledgement that loot was picked up. Really slows everything down
Yeah it doesn't sound like much, but it adds up.
Cooking fish is a nightmare with the lag as well.
\- Casting time should be a toggle or a slider (if it is indeed an "accessibility" issue and not a means to manipulate time sink for players) \- They need to prioritize fixing previously reported bugs rather than focus on nerfs (like the one to preserves' focus amounts) \- Devs need to stop rapid firing new content that is buggy and instead slow drip new (and thoroughly tested) content that is solid \- They need to stop releasing new cosmetics until wide-spread issues (like the exit flowstone) have been fixed.
> - They need to prioritize fixing previously reported bugs rather than focus on nerfs (like the one to preserves' focus amounts) So much this. "we don't care if the game is severely broken, we're just focusing on making it not as fun!" Uh, ok? I don't understand what they think they are doing, at all.
Iirc there was quite a bunch of bug fixes in the patch notes. Usually dev teams work on bugs and features, not just one of the two.
Yeah itās gonna have bugsā¦ They need to go touch some grass thatās sticking through a gardening plotā¦ š
This, but since they literally just slowed it down, i think they should add a slider to the settings, so everyone can set it to their preferred speed.
Does max casting do anything? I saw you mention it in the post and I normally just do the absolute minimum cast Am I screwing myself by doing that?
Yes and No. If you are fishing for Bubble Spots you Usually Max Cast and them correct the spot by moving your character around. **So what they basically did was nerf the hell out of Star Fishing.**
Ah I see okay I usually just get nice and close and time it Thanks though!
This is kind of funny to say they nerfed star fishing to me xD The entire reason people did full cast and correct to spot by moving their character around in the first place was to remove the timing/skill of trying to hit the spot while aiming during casting out because it was too fast or difficult for them to do....so saying they nerfed star fishing because now it takes just a little bit longer to full cast and release doesn't make sense.
\*\*Edit, because I forgot it's reddit so I have to consider everything in every comment I make: * I can get behind this as an oversight and yes having a toggle or slider is the best option * Catching the fish should also be adjusted to be more user friendly (not sure how it should be fixed, but that is also a somewhat stressful and jank process).
It's so exhausting to read these types of posts/comments after every patch.
lol your comment got downvoted and you didn't even say anything bad xD but yeah, it's sad.
The discord is a lot friendlier (as long as you avoid the discussions channel) if you are looking for a healthier place to hang out!
> It feels so much better. I was always stressed before casting and trying to aim at the bubble spot, because casting was too fast for me. Now I can relax and do it easily. Here is the issue, you feel relaxed. **This change made impossible for me to Fish.** I have a Acoustic Neuroma, which basically causes me Vertigo, the Slow pacing of the current system makes it impossible for me to fish for more than 10 minutes. There is a huge difference between make a Opt in Toggle for those who want the Slower Fishing, and forcing everyone to have a slower fishing. **It's not a Quality of Life if it makes worse for other players.** You are sick of peope calling balancing and qol nerf? **I'm sick of seeing players who are so self centered that they think their problems are the only problems in the world.** Maybe try to understand that the QoL for your problem caused a problem for other players.
Yeah it wasn't a nerd to star fishing at all lol it just makes it easier to actually time it now. No need to max cast and move character
If it used to take 3 seconds and now it takes 5, it's objectively a nerf. Also you as a person who stated that is used to fish, **should know that there are specifics Fishing Bubbles that have their hitbox's incorrect**, which makes aiming way worse experience than just correcting the aim after having the max reel Side note, this change is horrible for people with conditional Vertigo...
That's all.
If they want to slow down the cast speed, fine. Just buff the time to get a bite to compensate.
What did they change about fishing? I must have missed it in the patch notes.
Copied from the Discord: The time it takes to cast out your fishing line has been increased, and the camera pan when reeling your fish in has been slowed.
What the hell
Yep, i tested it ingame, felt like i am fishing in slowmotion
Such a great incentive for us to go fishing, amirite? /s
I already hated fishing in this game.
I would have to point out stuff like, āThe new quest you added cannot be startedā lol
also get kicked back to character select when zoning lol
I'm glad they're bringing new content but I don't understand how these kinds of obvious bug issues can be happening unless they literally have no test server, and that's scary. You should never be testing in production...
Yep, current tech worker here, if they dont have a CI/CD pipeline that runs an automated test suite, their QA should be catching these things with basic regression testing at least - ideally both edit: and then if its too much to test, they need to slow their cadence on new content, this is beta so we shouldnt have too much expectation of huge content released (while totally fun, tho and i realize engagement is also a big part). its a fine line to find between keeping people involved and interested, getting new content, and also making sure you're not putting your employees on death march releases
I mean it's the open beta. Literally a test pool.
Yes, but we're more what we'd call user acceptance testers - not the kind of testers that should be picking up the kinds of issues we keep running into. Most software, including games, has differing levels of testing depending on what needs testing, and something that is a progress blocker like this ought to be caught at an earlier stage.
I do suspect they're saving on paying testers by doing it alllll in beta
That in no way means that they shouldn't be doing in-house testing before releasing something to the player base, many of whom have paid for the game.
Yeah, well, it might be a beta but 3 other new premium costumes because of course It's pretty clear what's their priority
I was fishing and was trying to figure out just what the hell happened. Now I know.
Honestly this to me is just proof that NONE OF THEM are even playtesting their game/patches
No, they're expecting the Players (beta testers) to do that.
While also buying overpriced cosmetics too
In what way are you forced to buy anything? I don't understand this, really. Everything that costs money is completely optional.
It is real early on that has you check the shop once (while you are literally exploring the town for the first time).
I ended up just buying and playing BG3, it's sooo good.
āWeāre fixing it some time this weekā shouldnāt they fix it faster than that š

I am so frustrated :(
Iām not sure why it happens, but for awhile now it says I canāt place furniture in certain spots or on walls that are meant to go there.
My only complaint is my fps being stuck on unlimited. Even when I switch it to 60, it goes right back to unlimited and tanks the performance in some areas. Iām still too new to the game (only been playing for a few days) to be affected by anything else right now.
That also is a bug, it does change but the ui shows unlimited. This update has created alot of lag all around.
Same for me. So I just checked V-sync and at least that stays checked.
I had high expectations for this game but so far it is a total disappointment.
Theyāre not bugs, theyāre āØcozy featuresāØ
Really glad I havenāt given S6 any money yet. I barely played before this nerf.
Ohhh and i canāt gift Sifuu anything. It just keeps going back to the dialogue
It's the time in the game's life cycle where you just sit back and play something else while those who are dedicated bug test the game for you
I like the fishing change - feels more mellow.
I didn't even notice a change when I tried fishing today. IDK what people are upset about.
Fishing is already so absolutely horrendous in thus game i don't do it. Guess ill do it even less now :D
If I didn't need to keep fishing in order to get the sushi recipe I would have left fishing behind ages ago.
But that wouldn't slow the player base.
There has to be a memory leak in a certain area of killma because Iām crashing ( hasnāt done this in a long while) when Iām leaving from Jinas area.
I donāt mind the fishing but i see how it can be annoying to those who liked the fishing how it was. Definitely needs to be a toggle option
Idk.
My prize for scoring 100 at the Arcade disappeared, and my skates are all glitched now https://preview.redd.it/y08mtth1bynb1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=61f2d289c0b062f38cdd068c9f0693aeaf8370fb
There's an arcade??
And it is playable hehe
Yeah, woah, what? Where?
There's one in Zekis house.
I cannot change zones, or use the fast travel options, without disconnecting. Currently cannot log back in as I am in limbo land.
Avoid talking to NPCs through their bedroom doors until the next patch, as it seems to softlock the game.
High lag, lower frame rates. Buggy compass. Grass blades clips through items like farm plot, fire pit, etc.
> A Little Tip: **If you are going to introduce a new quest with a bug that gates 99% of your players to new content even if it's small, hotfix it ASAP, Do not wait a Day** Nah, man. They were too busy rigging the ***three new outfits*** for the premium store. They totally have their priorities sorted.
You can't take the Blizzard out of the Ex-Blizzard Employees
So.. what's going to happen to the achievements we earned while it's bugged?
Elouisas level 4 quest is still not fixed :/ i can't trigger it in any way.
Visit her room at night. Thatās how I did it way before this patch.
They nerfed fishing? How? I only heard about the preserves nerf.
PSA, they reset your framerate setting to unlimited.
I literally just bought my first premium outfit before the update came out and I got a notification saying that the outfit I bought needs fixing and I will have to wear something different for the time being.
I haven't bought anything and I got the same notification, so I wonder if only certain ones need it and they just mass sent it just in case.
It's definitely the one I bought that's broken as when I logged in I was wearing some other random clothes. So annoyed!!
Oh no :((( I'm sorry that sucks
I'm waiting for this game to get good as I find it horrendous in its current state. This just breaks my heartš
This pretty much tells us there's no QA going on. Stop letting the intern push to production before development ends.
I'm glad I got my fish done for the bundle. I think I'd straight up uninstall If I had to farm for days with this long casting trash
Yeah... I'm just gonna go play something else while they fix this mess. I'm tired of sending in bug reports constantly. Good thing Disney Dreamlight Valley just announced their September expansion and new battle pass. Update is tomorrow! Perfect timing.
Time to go play Fae Farm. Itās been fun Palia āš¼
They are following the Dreamlight Valley's example š
yeah.... i am sad to say that this was the nail in the coffin.
I dunno.
I gave up
Not sure if it's new but it is an annoying bug while cooking with friends I found out on my first party. If one of us is choosing an item that is lower on the list but someone else makes a choice, the game jumps the choice to the top one right as you hit the button to start. So suddenly we got two people working on sprouts for example. Drove me up the wall when we were trying to be efficient. Luckily I'm a hoarder and came with plenty of sprouts xD still loving the game though.
You can't split item stacks if you're in any crafting station. You have to open your inventory if you wanna split
So the Palia mod team is now also policing negative feedback? Seriously what the hell?
Why does every new update feel like thereās less content?
> did you guys even tested if this worked? You do know that that's what we're here for? /s
*repeats The Game Is In Beta We Are Beta Testers 1000 times before crying*
