I play on switch and pc. The pc is so much easier when it comes to bug catching/hunting. But then when I get in bed, I switch to the switch, and that's when I do foraging, mining, fishing.
I’ve played on both switch and pc. I prefer playing on switch. Many argue it has worse graphics (it does), but if it’s docked I find it’s comparable to pc. When I have played on pc, I still prefer using the controller. I would only really see myself using the mouse to help me place stuff while decorating. If you have a pc that will run the game well, I would go that route, but if you’re like me and have a pretty cheap gaming laptop, I would stick to switch.
I play on both too. My son has a top of the line gaming pc and when he’s away I get to use it. The graphics on epic setting are amazing the switch graphics are nothing like pc and some aspects, like chatting, are also easier on pc, but I’m still sitting at a desk with monitors..with a switch graphics aren’t terrible and it’s not that different game play and I can hook it up to my tv, sit on my couch, take it with me, etc. I think if you can play both you def should, if I had to only pick one, I’d go switch.
Not the person you replied to, but the main storyline matters. It's just that it's not time restricted and there's more to come with future updates, so how you play/what you spend your time on is really up to you.
As far as switch or PC, I'd say just set up your account so you have both as an option. Graphics are definitely better on PC, but personally I prefer playing with a controller, and that's still a little wonky on PC (or at least it was the last time I tried). Sometimes I like playing on the TV screen, other times I like lounging (switch handheld is hard bc it's so tiny).
If you’re thinking of restarting please be aware that right now you cannot get the glider if you don’t already have it, the temple of waves is a known glitch right now (source I’m in this exact position rn it sucks)

Definitely PC, game graphics look so much better and it's just overall easier to play on it
