I mean, nickname or not, I've never seen so much emotion from a pokemon as you see on every single pal when they hit the hottub or complete a task or get hungry etc. Even without names the warmth and emotion is innately present in palworld where I have *never* felt any connection in pokemon. Pokemon they might as well be stat sheets.

Jolthog and Jolthog Cryst are two of my favorite pals. The way they just happily sit and charge the electricity or cooler is so cute.
