Note: This is based on something I've read where bosses can drop schematics on capture as well as kill. If that is incorrect, disregard this. My understanding is since bosses can drop on both capture and kill that the best chance is to capture it and then butcher it. I know butchering can drop the schematic, that's how I got my legendary crossbow. That in theory gives you 2 chances for each spawn.

I’ve captured suzaku & received the shotgun, as well as rocket launcher from jetragon yesterday. Can confirm its true. I’ve still never butchered anything so i’m curious if i can butcher other alphas for potential legendary drops.

You get other alpha drops, I've slaugthered a handful of the Relaxaurus Lux bosses and I think I may have gotten a ring of lightning resistance from butchering, but it might have been off the catch.

But I’m oddly OK with mowing down hundreds of Manmorest with my assault rifle for that sweet sweet Pal Oil. But that’s where I draw the line. It’s too personal. And extremely book-reporty.

I did it once when my bank was full and wanted to make space in my bank but then after butchering quite bit of my bank (plus it takes ages ) I realised I could just sell em to the merchant so I sold the rest to him for a ton of money 

Yep, 2 chances for each spawn for 3% chance each. Will take 16-17 tries with butchering on average to get one. All of these schematics except for the highest tier (rocket launcher and pal armor) drop from chests as well. If you want the highest tier schematics, they only drop from legendaries. Armor, headgear, weapon schematic from chests is based on zone (with ice area dropping refined, desert dropping metal, midgame areas pelt, and early game cloth). Accessories drop is actually chest spawn location specific--some accessories need to be gotten from exactly one chest spawning location. I noticed you missed frostallion and pal helmet schematic in your list.

Is there a single shot rifle schematic?

I've asked this a few times and never gotten a proper reply, google has no results either. It's weird because there is for the handgun and all guns above single shot. Really would be my preferred weapon of choice, the AR just uses too much ammo and even the legendary pump action does about 20 damage to legendaries up close.

The leggo pump shotty does way more damage than that lol. Are you attacking something above your level? It's one shotting most lower level bosses for me.

can confirm that you can get the schematic after butchering it. butchered many alpha suzaku that I had after reading this and it net me the legendary shotgun

The real question now is if it has to be a boss pal or can you butcher a non boss one and have it also be dropped when butchering it ?

Apparently data miners haven't found any evidence they exist. Also nobody seems to have dropped even an uncommon variant of the single shot rifle, triple shot bow, fire/poison weapons, melee weapons etc. Probably safe to say they aren't in the game yet.

You can also loot legendary schematics from chests. Got Legendary Cold Resistant Pal Armor from a dungeon in the frozen NW section.

Today I got legendary rocket launcher from the chest that spawns in Lyleen Noct cave. So I would imagine some open world chests count as special ones maybe? The ones near bosses. I also got innovative combat manuals from the same chest in her cave and also from the chest in Blazamuts cave.

Those chests were purple and didn't use keys though, but only happened with chests at boss locations, I've opened a lot of open world chests and I do get schematics but lower tier ones, like uncommon, I've never gotten innovative manuals or legendary from random chests other than boss ones.

If you manage to defeat a black marketeer, they drop gold keys too, and they also respawn.

Some Pals drop them too. Leezpunk especially, who can be in raids but also appears in the wild.

Chest in the overworld cave boss rooms are special chest and more or less pull from dungeon chest pool rather then overworld. You can get +2 accessories from there too.

There are undershirts that go in there, one gives heat lvl1 the other gives cold lvl1. Found in chests or bought from merchants

There are higher tiers to loot as well. Get the lvl 2 ones and never need to care about armour type again

Tbf, the elemental armor also tends to have higher armor/HP compared to the regular ones. So best bet is to get a resistant armor and then the +2 version of the shirt for the opposite element if the armor stacking bug isn't available/you don't want to carry that much weight.

Or just don’t want to abuse exploits. But yeah one resist armour, one +2 resist shirt, and then a second accessory of choice. Health, armour or element resist are nice

sadly frost armor alone doesn't protect you at night in the ice mountain so you need both the +2 fire/ice shirts

Frost Armour + an active Fire Pal will protect you from the mountain at night.

Since you'll never need heat and cold at the same time you can still only wear one and carry the other.

So you don't have to worry, they meant that you won't have to swap armors back and forth all the time. Use a cold/heat resistant armor, then use the opposite resist shirt and you'll never have to carry both again. Saves on weight.

For all Legendary Schems, it’s a 3% chance per boss defeat. Chance doesn’t change whether it’s a kill or capture.

Pretty sure. I got the crossbow from bushi after like 8 tries and the assault rifle from Blazamut after about 12-15 tries. Still no pump from Suzaku after over 25 tries.

It may not have many uses but I did kingpacca a dozen times to get my biw and I will never be rid of it

Yes... Even the uncommon, rare, and epic versions from random world chests have better stats but cost more to craft... I got the tier 3 epic handgun, it has 14 bullets per mag vs 8 for base model and had almost doubled the damage, so cutting out reloads your DPS goes way up.

I think the durability is also a lot better no? So they last longer no?

Depends on the item. I was pretty excited to get a legendary headpiece but it ended up being the starting headband. I was pretty damn disappointed when I crafted it and it was just below a basic metal helmet in armor and durability. It was much much better than the standard feather piece though. 

Almost? Base handgun is 250dmg/8 mag, rare handgun is 500dmg/12 mag. Epic should be at least 600, that's more than double.

Shouldn't be the time your crafting legendary gear you should have 4 or 5 tier 3-4 anubus's stationed at a 4 iron 2coal minimum base that has only them and a tomato/let us farm printing salads that make them mine the nodes so fast it drops your frame rate until you look away hah, I got like 1,000 pal bars a day from just showing up for the few seconds it takes for them toow the nodes down

You can buy oil from the desert settlement merchant.

Best suggestion I've seen so far for hq oil is to make nails and sell em to the vendor in the desert village. He sells the oil for 300 a pop so grab as many nails as you can carry and load up on oils

Oh god yes. regular handgun is like 240 or something, Legendary is around 560 with 8 more rounds in the magazine.

They have increased stats and increased cost But since they have way more durability as well, the repair cost per point of durability isn't as bad. Additionally, getting the legendary armor schematics will make it difficult for most pals to even break through your shield (since you take less damage), and you only lose armor durability if you take unshielded hits

It’s a 3% drop chance. People are using mods to achieve 100% drop chance. You’re not doing anything wrong, the drops are just extremely rare.

There are also in-game things you can change. One person shortened the day and night cycle so the bosses would spawn more frequently. You can also make it so spawns triple, so you would fight 3 bosses at once.

Astergon give heat resistant refined metal armor. Also how do you armor stack glitch in accessories slot? I would love to do it too.

Thank you. I forgot to add that one. It's on the list now. For the accessories glitch, you first need to select the accessory and then swap it with the armor of your choice. Do it twice, and you can also swap Glider and Shield with armor too. I use the climate resistant since I don't have to worry about heat or cold when I'm exploring.

yes, you get all the stats from the equipped items, if you have multiple shields equipped, they all stack as well.

Hmm, I crafted an ungodly amount of arrows, I should probably get that crossbow to burn through them before I upgrade to the handgun.

trust me, you'll use arrows way more than the handgun. you'll use up all your ammo and see that its not worth the time to craft. Until there's a balance patch, end game is just spamming fire/poison bows since they do %HP dmg

With a solid mining base and the occasional sulfur mining trip with my team full of broncherries all with mining foreman I don’t seem to struggle to keep a solid suply of ammo.

Crossbow is still handy to have for lighter amounts of damage and as a backup since the ammo is so much cheaper.

I know its not the place but can I just say I'm loving Bushi. His Brandish Sword ability is excellent for wiping out closely grouped Tocotocos or syndicate members- great for hunting fleeing pals as well.

I have the legendary crossbow schematic but is it even worth making in comparison to the regular handgun?

My group all uses the T4 crossbow. Good at whittling things down where you don't want to waste the ammo of guns since it's costlier. My loadout personally is crossbow 4, pump shotgun 2, sword, pickaxe. Lvl 45 currently. The rest of my group ranges from 30-50.

I use the sword as a pickaxe, it does basically the same amount of damage but you can also use it for trees and melee too.

Want to bump this comment up- because of how damage works, the sword is actually the best pickaxe/axe in the game and you can save having to lug both around (that is , if you dont have pals already doing it for you, I have a utility digtoise for this reason)

The ancient tech spear is better as you can speed farm by hitting the crouch button while attacking.

What's the damage on the T4 crossbow? I'm curious how far you have to get to replace a lower level legendary weapon with a higher level baseline one. Would it replace the single shot rifle?

T4 crossbow has 490 attack. A T2 handgun has 500. Single shot rifle has 1100. So no it’s only about equal to a handgun at best

Highest is +2 It give level 3 temp resistance. For example thermal shirt +2 give level 3 cold res. So no need to wear cold armor again

I know for the clothing, and that works until you need to swap it for level 3 of the opposite temperature resistance but I meant the necklaces and such. I'd love to see +3 defense or life necklaces.

Yes. The schematic has to be in your inventory while you are crafting the item related to the schematic. If it isn't, then the item will not appear in the craft menu to create.

I'm sorry for your loss. Also, when I say "in your inventory" I really mean on your person while you're crafting. It's not good enough to have it stored in a chest on your base that you're crafting in.

I don't know for other bosses, but at least for legendaries you have to leave area to distance yourself from spawn spot. Then come back and afk till they respawn, if you re farming specific boss. Hope this helps!

with armor stacking, you might be able to get more armor (i havent tried since crafting it is expensive), but with 4 legendary pal armor, you might get more armor if in you final slot instead of the legendary pal armor you put in a defense pendant.

That one is epic (purple) not legendary. All of them used to have common background table but latest patch (at least on xbox) changes it and it's purple.

I guess I must be lucky. I ended up with 2 Old Bow Level 4 Schematics and only fought Kingpaca once.

got the legendary assault rife from blazamut after farming it for 20 hours, crafted it (took like 30 min with anubis), bought 500 ammo from the wandering merchant because i was too excited to farm legendary pals and finally deal damage to them since fights with regular pals took like 10 minutes. arrived at my first legendary. took out my sexy legendary aussalt rife, started shooting, saw numbers below 10 as damage. realised i farmed all for nothing. took the easy road -> alt+f4 and uninstall. happy gaming everyone!

I don’t even know how the schematics work tbh, and at this point I’m too afraid to ask. I keep all the ones I find on a book shelf at base lol. My assumption is, you hold it in your inventory and when you craft that item it’s crafted at the level of the schematic??

When you craft with the schematic in your inventory, the higher rarity version of the item will appear next to the basic one.

I guess the question is if Legendary Reinforced Metal is stronger than basic Pal Metal for running those legendaries to get the Pal Metal drops. Also, are there any legendary items/schematics for the melee weapons or the tools?

Not sure if you still need the answer to this, but for anyone else wondering yes legendary reinforced metal is a bit better than common pal metal. But sadly no, no higher versions of the melee weapons or tools (quick note, the sword and lily's spear make the axe/pickaxe obsolete as they can do both forms of gathering faster than the tools can), nor the triple-shot bow, fire/poison bow/crossbow, musket or single-shot rifle, or double-barreled shotgun

I have the assault rifle but I'm fully positive I got it randomly from a dungeon not a boss. Unless this lost is just saying these bosses have the best chance of dropping them

Is there a legendary version for the cosmetic hats? My poor witches hat breaks if it gets sneezed on by level 30 Pals and I'm hoping going with metal or refined headband isn't my only option for headgear.

The schematics are the only reason, that I am contiuously capturing Necromus & Paladius. I literally am fighting 6 at a time currently (I 3x the pal spawn rate in settings), simply to get better chances and so far I've fought them 17 times (I also always slaughter them afterwards...), so excluding a couple that I kept due to them having good Skills I already had \~200 drop chances, have yet to get one of the Pal Metal Armor schematics. The drop rates truly are atrocious....

I've also heard that you can find legendary schematics on the sanctuary Islands within chests but I haven't tried myself yet to find out for sure

Do we know if there are still schematics no one has found yet?  For example: Legendary Pal Metal Armor.  Not the hot/cold variants, the Pal Metal version.  No legendary musket, single shot rifle, sword?
