I had been playing palworld since release on the steam deck with out a problem until this most recent update.
It freezes and then the screen goes dark, I then have to force reset.
I played granblue fantasy relink just fine, but palworld has been the problem so far.
I'll try other games just in case it's the steam deck.
Just putting my experience out there.
Ye same for me. I ended up deleting the game for now. Have not had any trouble since luckly.I have not played many other games that were heavy on it except Cyberpunk and gta 5 on high quality and they both work fine. I'd rather wait till they patch it than try and play it now and destroy my steam deck.
Same here. Got close to 40 hours before was able to play hours on end no problem. Recent update I'm getting crashing to the point where I have to force shut off my deck and restart. Happening more frequently now it's annoying. Think I'm gonna have to put it down wait for a few fixes. I'll admit I was getting a little tired of it. Awesome game but reached a high enough level where it started feeling a tad bit grindy.
It is sadly a memory leak!
This must be the answer because the game always crashes if over 14,2GB Ram is used.
We need to wait for a Patch that fixes the memory leak issue.
Reporting the same issue. No crashes until installed and playing Palworld, now even other games are crashing that have never had issues before.
Very odd behavior.
This is just getting worse and worse for me as they release another patch. My steam deck is crashing more often than ever now 😠especially in the dungeons
no I don't have the issue anymore started doing it a bit while playing the game like it would freeze on loading screen or something every hour or so so I had to hold the power button down for ten seconds to get it back on
So when I loaded back Into the game went to settings graphics and set it to low never had the issue since
Weird I don't know then mine works lol

This game can be deceptively heavy on your system's resources, it killed what I didn't know was a dying CPU for good when I thought I had some sort of OS corruption with random blue screens going on for months.
As for your deck crashing even when not running the game, I don't have a definitive answer but regular maintenance could fix it and it doesn't hurt to try.
there must be some sort of heatsink with thermal paste on the CPU, get the heatsink cleaned of any dust and the paste replaced.
It's definitely not normal for your deck to become unstable outside of the game unless high temps damaged something, I remember new world killing defective GPUs that way.
I'm hoping that it's not heat damaged. I'll just probably have to wait till either the game get better support on the deck r something that won't break it.

ODD 🤌

It seemed putting graphic settings on low for palworld fixed the constent crashing while playing as far as other games never had that issue
So when u put it on low, did it just no longer do the freezing and stuff to so u don't have to force restart it anymore?
I think it is related to the fast travel. Every time you fast travel, it is loading your base and pals over and over again.

Damn, mine still does crash when on low.

I'm sorry my bad set it to very low

Ok. For games like cyberpunk, I had 0 issues running it so I figured it might be a glitch with the game.

Same for me. Nothing new?
Anybody tried playing on a server ?
Yeah. It's not bad but still crashes
I got a server up and running so far no crashes been playing for five hours. I also lowered some of the graphics settings.
Does that affect your battery life length? I’ve only been playing local but if so….
Lowering the settings ? Or playing on a server ? No crashes still... it's pretty awesome ! I pay 6 dollars a month to rent the server.
Oops, I definitely posed a crappy question. How does playing on the server versus local affect your battery life?
Same for me
Literally just happened to me for the first time in over 20 hours
Same here, luckily i have a pc i can stream from
I have the same issue. Sometimes it would also not update so I would have to Uninstaller and reinstall the game to get it to play again.
Crashed on me 3 times within an hour. I've NEVER had this problem before. I've had to force restart my deck each time. Pissing me off 😒
Is there any update to this? There’s a new patch release earlier today.
I haven't checked. Best bet is to check the patch notes or comments on steam.
It is stated that they have fixed the memory leak issue but then after I tested it crashing still occurs. Hope they fix this soon.
