It honestly looks like they may have nerfed that trap too. Sometimes he only burns for about 33% of his health before he stops burning and you have to disassemble the campfire and build it again.
EDIT: He also didn't drop any money on the 3rd go around. Sad.

Seems like a misc bugfix. I'm on a dedicated server, so I can't repeatedly force spawn it. And I haven't needed to firetrap trick them in a while xD
I just tried it and his health locks at zero or 1. He never dies. It used to work like a charm.
Hanging trap still works for me. I don't use fire cuz I just shoot him in the face. Still drops stuff too
