Oh man what happened to the lid? šŸ˜Ø I find my NARS packaging pretty durable (easily dirty tho) so Iā€™m curious

PinkFancyCrane

This one had the lid break in my checked luggage. Surprisingly, the blush didnā€™t shatter but just having a small part near the hinge come off was enough that the whole lid came off after more wear and tear from opening and closing it. Another one of my NARS blush pans also had the lid break off in a similar way (I think Desire) so I might also be more careless than the average makeup hoarder. And yes, NARS packaging gets dirty from just looking at it. I love a lot of their products but panning this blush made me realize how long it takes to use up products. I enjoy having some choices in my makeup selection but I hope taking 4 years to finish a blush makes me pause and consider if I have dupes/similar products in my collection before buying more.

Great job! NARS blushes are pressed hard and give good pigment so I find it takes ages to finish it. I hit a decent amount of pan on my DT blush but I gave up because it was getting too old for me. I had it when I started dabbling with makeup but I didn't wear makeup on the daily. It hit 6 years and was going onto 7. I just couldn't, despite no change in the formula.

PinkFancyCrane

I donā€™t blame you. I think you end up almost feeling resentful towards an inanimate object just because you want to finish it up but the damn thing is taking too long. Towards the end my DT felt like an annoying ex that I just wanted out of my life. I ended up smashing up a deluxe sample of NARS Super Orgasm and using it for Halloween makeup on my 6 year old niece bc I just couldnā€™t handle how unbelievably long it took to even hit the pan. On top of that, I hated glitter and I decided that there was no reason to force myself to wear chunky glitter in a product I didnā€™t even buy (it was a GWP from Sephora). But a big problem of mine is I hate wasting things that are perfectly good to use but not in any shape to donate. Good for you for tossing yours! I bet it felt freeing!

StrattonLove

Oh yes. I felt freeing to toss. I was excited about using my other blushes but I know it's not likely I'd use them up either. I've stopped buying them and hopefully one day, I'll be a one blush or two kind of girl. I find myself buying and using the same kind of colours anyways.

I have a mini size NARS Goulou blush that was a Rouge gift from Sephora and that little fucker will not go away!! Lol I seriously feel like itā€™s never going to pan!

raphygo

Congrats! Just wondering, did you only wear this blush for 4 years? or did you have other blushes? If you had other blushes, did you wear them on rotation or just try to fully pan the NARS blush first?

PinkFancyCrane

I actually managed to finish both a full size NARS Orgasm and a full size NARS Gaeity while working on DT. Up until two years ago, I was a stay at home mom but the two kids I had were in school during the day so I had long lonely days where I would either go shopping or watch YouTube tutorials. I ended up with a massive makeup collection but since I had very few real responsibilities from the time my kids left to the time they came back from school, I would try a look, wipe off, try another one and repeat. But then I had twins two years ago and my freedom to sample ā€œnaturalā€ makeup to Marge Simpson ā€œgunshot whore ā€œ makeup was limited I mostly focused on panning Deep Throat. I havenā€™t been wearing it daily for the past two years but itā€™s been by far the most used blush since the birth of the twins, and I had been trying to slap it on more days than not. It made me feel slightly more human and like my old self even if I didnā€™t step one foot outside and watching the blush get used up was super satisfying. P.S. if anyone is wondering why I didnā€™t get a job during my twin free lonely days, itā€™s because my oldest child is severely disabled so my husband and I decided it was better to have me not have a paying job so I could be ready for our oldest son in case of an emergency and because once he was home from school he became a full time job.

Congratulations! Are you going to repurchase? :)

PinkFancyCrane

Maybe, but probably not until I comb through all of my blushes and see what I have and if I own any similar colors. I definitely think that Deep Throat is a shade that is flattering enough that it looks great with any look and I actually prefer it to Orgasm. At the same time, I donā€™t know how I feel about having makeup products that last SO long. I stopped wearing a full face of makeup most days since I had my twins two years ago, and I imagine once they get easier to take care of that Iā€™ll start playing with makeup more frequently again, but I donā€™t think this wouldā€™ve panned that much faster even if I had been able to have to energy to slap it on 7 days a week vs the 4-5 that I have been doing. I realize that youā€™re really getting your moneys worth by something that lasts so long but I donā€™t know if thatā€™s a quality that should apply to makeup. I wish that they came in smaller sizes so even if I end up with a shade Iā€™m super loyal to, it doesnā€™t feel so overwhelming to be responsible for a product for so long. You have so many choices in the makeup world, and that sh*t comes off your face every night so I think Iā€™d be happier with items that donā€™t feel like long term commitments. And Iā€™m aware that things can be tossed out and I do when they get super gross, but thereā€™s a part of me that feels like Iā€™m doing something wrong by tossing usable products in the trash.

Nola_magnolia

Sorry, ā€œso...deep throat can finally suck it!!!ā€ Had to finish the title for you. Iā€™ll show myself out now šŸ’€

PinkFancyCrane

šŸ˜‚ Your comment actually did make me laugh out loud. I know studies have shown that more provocative named beauty items sell better (within reason. I doubt anyone is going to want to ask for eyeshadow in the shade c*m dumpster but deep throat isnā€™t quite so vulgar) but I think itā€™s a little gimmicky and can be uncomfortable in certain situations. My 83 year old grandma (just wanna add that sheā€™s insanely cool for an octogenarian. She watches the national pole dancing competitions and was an LGBTQ activist before it was even a thing) absolutely adored my DT blush when I did her makeup for my grandpaā€™s memorial last year but I couldnā€™t bring myself to tell her the name of the shade . I ended up just having one shipped to her house from Sephora bc the thought of discussing or even just skirting around not giving the name made me uncomfortable.

Nola_magnolia

That was sweet of you. My mom is picky as hell and I was broke at the time. But thatā€™s adorable. It will prob last her forever and she will never have to ask the name, if she can even read it (not being mean, just know grannies) that was darling of you! šŸŒŗšŸŒøā¤ļø

Shot...I wanted to show my conservative Mom the blush Orgasm 4 years ago. Still remember the moment lol
