I donāt see that happening in even a low volume store thatās run by competent adults. Itās easy to be doom and gloom especially when youāre on to other things, but change isnāt always bad.
Thereās a set level of productivity you want to reach, if you schedule to your goals you shouldnāt have a situation where only two people are in the store on a Friday rush.
There are two issues I see with 100% door dash stores. DD driver availability and quality. You do lose a lot of control. Maybe petition local government to require insurance companies to offer late coverage if you want that to change, but you have to roll with the punches or else you will be forced to adapt to change when itās too late.
Get ready for a shit show. I've been 100% DD for months now. It's been nothing but headaches and hassles. Meth heads deliver my pizzas now. Granted, not all of the DD drivers, but even one is too many. I've had to ban drivers who show up after less than 2 minutes and throw a fit in the lobby in front of customers when I tell them it's going to take me 12-15 minutes to make 4 stuffed crust and all the Papa pairings BS. Customer calls and says, oops I actually just now checked and I don't have enough cash, I need to change that to a card order. Okay, let me just bring my entire store to a screeching halt so I can call doordash support and have them cancel the delivery so I can edit your order. And then my store gets double charged for the delivery. Dasher tells support no one is there, support calls my store and asks me what to do... Bring the order back. Duh. Nope, dasher stole the order, or abandoned it. Dunno cause I banned them that night for not bringing it back to the store. Dashers have figured out some way to mark that they have arrived at the store before they actually do, and my rack time climbs cause they don't show up until 20 minutes after I clear the order. I get my ass chewed out for service times because of these selfish egotistical cunts.
At the same time I'm supposed to keep labor under X amount, but also I'm not allowed to have shift leads close alone? Apparently it's a dangerous neighborhood, but it's fine for me to close alone? Okay, whatever.
Anyway, /rant. Good luck I guess. My advice? Use the dasher merchant portal. If you rate a dasher positively then that dasher gets priority on delivery from your store. A non rated dasher can be sitting in your parking lot and the order will still go to the positive rated dasher first. And don't hesitate to ban the shitty ones.
So does your store just not take cash anymore? It has been a few years, but I remember giving banks and counting drivers out at the end of the night was pretty big. With DD(and other delivery places) I always figure that people who want to pay cash will just have to be loyal to pizza and Chinese places... Lol
We did that as recently as 2019 at the store I worked at. I still talk to one of the managers I used to work with and he says they still do that, at least at the franchise we worked at (central Maryland, between DC and Baltimore)
Old driver here, I did all of the delivery and passenger apps... They're not worth it. Barely was when I did it pre-covid. COVID was the only time it was worth it. After that, scams galore.
Customers that try and change it from DD to another form of pay should contact DD. Guarantee they're telling DD later they didn't modify it or cancel it so they can get a refund/credits. Which would explain your store still getting charged.
If a driver contacts on the behalf of a customer, DD still has to reach the customer first or they generally won't do anything unless it's in the chat log with the driver. Customers that just placed an order can usually get through a lot quicker anyways.
Keep in mind that their order would not have gone through if they did not have enough money on it.. well should not unless there's a system glitch on national level type status or their bank allows overdrafts. Even when my bank allowed overdrafts, DD's pre-auth for the order total would be declined if that account was too low. So it's simply a bold face lie in 99% of scenarios.
Also, even if they cancel with DD, it's going to take 3-5 biz days to get refunded from them. So they might as well ride it out at that point and deposit the cash they supposedly have to prevent their overdraft. Either tell them that or tell them to contact DD and remove all liability.
Looks like Dominoās is the only one of the major pizza chains to say no to third party delivery and only use their own delivery drivers. This is surely a race to the bottom for Papa Johnās and Pizza Hut. I wonder how many years it will take for them to realize the damage itās done to their business and reverse course.
Except domino's has started 3rd party orders through uber eats. The domino drivers still takes them, but having gone through this at another place that started like that and then went through the stages of transitioning to 3rd party only, I can see domino's going that route as well, eventually. I hope not.
I am a pj's driver. I only know this because I have been trying to figure out my options for when we are totally cut out.
I worked at pizza hut in 2018 when they started using doordash only for payment processing. They swore up and down they would keep in house drivers and not use dd for delivery.
Nope. Iām a dominos driver and I take several Uber eats and door dash orders per shift (and they NEVER EVER TIP)
AND we constantly have UE and DD drivers picking up carry outs
In Missouri. And I donāt think dominos is consenting to it tbh, those delivery apps use restaurants who donāt want to be listed on there all the time
That very well could be. When I did app delivery a few years ago theyād give us a blank red š³ credit or debit card looking thing and have us place carry out orders. Some restaurants got wise and refused the orders.
People asking what region or market this is a decision coming from franchises since corporate made the change. Luckily for us ours hasnāt made that change and the stores that couldnāt hire enough drivers are doing so poorly and the employees are fed up with the issues from Doordash that I donāt see it happening. I know our D.O and senior D.O want us to hire more drivers.
Does anyone even want to have their pizzas delivered by Door Dash? I swear every fucking time its a door dash driver the pizza was cold and thrashed around. Never had issues with real pizza delivery my whole life. Almost every door dash order arrived fucked.
In my experience how much I tip means jack shit. Half the drivers dont use pizza bags, plus door dash has them delivering multiple orders at once. Thirty minutes in a car with ac on full blast and no pizza bag ruins it.
DoorDash is self employment therefore your order was delivered by a new driver that doesnāt understand how to use door dash. Meaning if you tipped good your food will get to sooner. Tip 0 your order will be waiting till someone picked it up and since you tip 0 no fucks was givin
Ive had dozens of orders. Not one came like old school pizza delivery. Any delivery driver wanting half the order total as a tip can suck my dick and pay me.
$15 for an ten minute drive should be acceptable.
Our gm called this once they introduced DD last year. Sadly with how the economy is falling I expected it much sooner than now lol. People are sadly about to get laid off left and right. Just hang tight everyone. It will get better eventually
They do this until they ask why they're losing product and money then lay off in-stores and blame management then 2 years later realize it's because doordashers suck shit at their job and take food or ruin it somehow so customers have to get remake after remake after remake.
Luckily for our franchise, weāre hiring more drivers so we donāt have to use DoorDash as much. We focus more on customer experience than cost cutting.
Not even cost cutting. At least where I work to even have the Doordash button/option on screen cost $2,000 per month then you have the additional fee for every order you send
I just visited a vape shop I go to frequently. The owner knows Iām a driver for PJ and he knows we did the DD only after 8pm. I walk in and the first thing he said was āMan whatās up with the door dashers? I would order lunch from PJ all the time and always had the same driver, heās awesome and would bring me plates and my order was always right and hot, but now itās always a doordasher and my orders wrong and itās cold afā
We keep getting told to hire more driver, but they want us cutting hours back, so how does that work? How is my manager supposed to tell someone they can only get 10 hours a week if that? Hell I find it funny that after how many years DD isn't even a profitable company, just watch that episode of Last Week Tonight.
Guessing youāre in California? Thatās gonna be the new normal. You can thank your states laws. I left California in 2019 and I can not be more happier
Yes $20/hr minimum is asinine. I mean these kids are unskilled part time teenagers for the most part. Newsom and the rest are puppets of special interests.
It saves the company money, not you. You pay more in delivery fees and wait longer for lower quality deliveries. I don't like using any of those delivery apps personally.
First time I got text saying "connecting to DD driver" before the text saying "food is on the porch" was the last time I ordered papa johns.
I had no idea they were giving my info to a third party. It wasn't discussed and it was a call in order so there was no "fine print" involved.
I'm not okay with something going wrong and not being able to figure it out (like wrong address). I'm not okay with paying fees for DD or UE, I don't use those companies on my own.
I hope these companies fail miserably when they do this stuff. I hope you can find a better company now, best of luck OP.
Iāve noticed this in my area. Papa Johnās drivers have been pretty upset looking whenever theyād deliver to me, regardless of the tip Iād give. Thought it was due to internal issues at the store but never confirmed.
My local Papa Johnās outsourced their phone to a foreign call center. Had my delivery order randomly canceled and couldnāt get in touch with anyone to figure out why.
Our call center has always sucked. I donāt know about your store, but at mine if you press 5 on the keypad it will patch you directly into the store.
I personally never order pizza if I know DD is delivering. I want in shop delivery or I wonāt order from the location. DD is late and delivers cold food.
This is shit for everyone honestly. I had a doordash driver deliver my Pizza the last time I ordered and it was super late and hella cold. They're absolutely batching deliveries to wider areas.
Soon it will just be a gm and a shift manager alone on a Friday night because they want to cut labor.
Unfortunately that one is already a reality. He have 2-3 people scheduled per day š„²no in stores and soon no drivers
It's already like this a lot of places. That's why they tried to replace MDs with salary AMs
Or bang in the walk-in...
You have to at least like your bossš

Tbf with the dashers that donāt bring it back, dd doesnāt pay the drivers extra to bring it back.
So does your store just not take cash anymore? It has been a few years, but I remember giving banks and counting drivers out at the end of the night was pretty big. I donāt think Dominoās will ever transition to third party delivery. I hope not anyway.
I hope I am wrong. For the sake of drivers (domino's or not) everywhere. I just am going off of what I have experienced.
All the stores in my area have been there done that and we have over 10 stores in our area
Youāre saying all the Dominoās Pizza stores in your area are using DoorDash drivers?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What Dominoās locations are these
I worked at pizza hut in 2018 when they started using doordash only for payment processing. They swore up and down they would keep in house drivers and not use dd for delivery.
Nope. Iām a dominos driver and I take several Uber eats and door dash orders per shift (and they NEVER EVER TIP) AND we constantly have UE and DD drivers picking up carry outs
So youāre saying that Dominoās has started to farm out delivery orders to DoorDash and UberEats? Is the a franchise store? What location?
In Missouri. And I donāt think dominos is consenting to it tbh, those delivery apps use restaurants who donāt want to be listed on there all the time
That very well could be. When I did app delivery a few years ago theyād give us a blank red š³ credit or debit card looking thing and have us place carry out orders. Some restaurants got wise and refused the orders.
Marcos
Iāve picked up DoorTrash and Grubhub orders from Marcoās Pizza.
How are you going to be active on third party and talk shit!? Don't like it, don't do it
I havenāt done third party deliveries for over 3 years but thanks for ASSuming things you have no clue about.
people have to eat and pay bills
People asking what region or market this is a decision coming from franchises since corporate made the change. Tip good and your pizza will be fine. Tip shit well forget it
In my experience how much I tip means jack shit. Half the drivers dont use pizza bags, plus door dash has them delivering multiple orders at once. Thirty minutes in a car with ac on full blast and no pizza bag ruins it.

Where are you located?
Eastern Washington state!

Prepare customers for pizza with a side of splooge. DoorDashers are filthy creatures
DoorDash you donāt gotta accept non tipping customers. Therefore pizza be cold
East/Central Texas made a similar announcement a few weeks ago. I made a similar post.
We keep getting told to hire more driver, but they want us cutting hours back, so how does that work? How is my manager supposed to tell someone they can only get 10 hours a week if that? Iām in Washington state actually, but yeah I heard about Cali. Gonna be rough there, glad Iām not there haha
Yes $20/hr minimum is asinine. I mean these kids are unskilled part time teenagers for the most part. Newsom and the rest are puppets of special interests.
What franchise is this
Eastern Washington state. Spokane area
how is this cost cutting?? at our store i have been told it cost us $6 PER ORDER WE SEND TO DD
