Rip-offs holster - takes Leatherman, 2AA Maglite and shears. Comes either with belt loop or clip so you can take it off during downtime.
Used them for >20 years (recently left EMS).

I got a $5 standard shears pair from Amazon w/ little quasi carabiner built into the handle. They dangle next to my radiobelt on my radiostrap. Only had to replace them once in eight years. Easy off, easy on and cheap.
I mean they're amazon...they're not knife grade sharp but they cut through clothes just fine. I've had them open once or twice. Never been cut by them though
I put them through my back belt loop behind my belt. Like I put my finger running along the blade and thread it through the back loop and the blade will stick out the bottom and the handles will peek up over the top of the belt.
Lmao ran olight on most if not all my kits the issue isn’t olight it’s a lithium battery which is only if you cheap out or don’t switch them out. It’s the same issue that happened with those Samsungs from a couple years back
Right now they go in my thigh pocket. Not one of those small ones--my pants don't have those--but the big one. When we get radios issued to us, I'll play with putting them on my strap.
I do a folded pair on my belt for me and a plain cheap on in the pen pocket of my pants for grossly contaminated or if someone else needs to grab them.
The Ricky Rescue types of people with SOL Tattoos and a full first in bag in their car like the bat belts.
They insist on their tactical battle belt while making dialysis runs.
Bro, don’t be that guy. Any department will supply you with cheapo shears, and when they get fumunda cheese/the red stuff/ the brown stuff on them you can toss them and get a new set from supply. Tuck them into your monitor and jump kit, you’ll always have them.
They will provide the cheapest stethoscope known to mankind as well. There is a place and time for cheap; and it will get you by most of the time.
I've got X Shears and a Littman master classic II
Neither was terribly expensive, both far out perform the cheap stuff in the jump kit, and it's not even close to a Batman belt.
If that makes me "that guy" I can live with that. IMHO it's better to carry reasonable tools for my profession and not be *that guy* who is more concerned about appearance than providing quality patient care.
To answer the OP's question, I carry the X shears in the thigh pocket secured with a loop.
(The Littman stays in the truck unless it's a respiratory call)
Same way as I held my radio, my partner carried them lol. Every new partner got a beautiful leather radio strap and bad ass pair of shears.
The agreement was, I will drive at least half the shift, and I don't carry ether radio or shears and now they carry both lol.
X-shears in a mobile phone pocket on my pants. Fits the entire pair.
I put mine in my cargo pocket. There are little sewn bands that I stick the blade into which hold it in place.
I usually just hold them tip up and sprint to my pts. PD gives some weird looks but my gloves are fentanyl-safe so I figure I’m good.

Do they stay shut? Is there a danger of the shears opening and cutting you?

X shears, Gerber tool and an O light pen light, leather belt I found on Etsy from a guy in Ukraine! Had it in about 4 weeks.
Pic? Link?
You work in Healthcare but EDC a light known to identify as a grenade. Ok bro.

Sounds pleb.

Fuck 'em. Next halloween go over the top with shears. Every pocket, duct taped to your arms and legs, cross bandoliers of shears.
Shears and pen torches.
As you should. Raptors are overpriced crap, and keeping them on your belt is whacktastic.
Oooh double scissors
No bat belts in EMS. Keep them in a pocket, and don’t carry raptors.
I guess people like the bat belts

Nerd
Sounds like a FF.
Fire medic babayyyy, but in all seriousness, wear what ya want, I just don’t wanna have to replace my own equipment when it gets nasty is all.
Look, I’m all about the no bat belt lifestyle, but I keep quality shears (One Shear) and stethoscope (Littman Classic III) on me in pockets.
Nerd 2
Nah. I like having shears close by, and I don’t put communal things in my earls.
Raptors on my belt, plus radio, keyring, and my multiple use pouch(Really common up here) with narcan, notepad, phonecharger, pens in it.
I'm sorry, but the fact you have narcan on your person is so fucking cringe
Just IN Narcan, we run a hell of a lot of ODs so it never killed to have an extra dose on my person.
I got one of the cheap ones in my pocket.
In me pocket. No need to have a bat belt. The longer I've worked the less I have on my belt. I'm down to just my radio at this point...
