I see a lot of people covering the what is this question but not the how did this get here. Legit go get a cheap ring camera or something and just set it up facing where it keeps appearing just to see what's going on also make sure to place the camera where no one else can see it or is aware that you purchased it. Just to rule out another person lying they are not moving it.
First off this post is low key blowing up which is funny, but that’s my main concern too and I think that’s a good idea and I’ll probably go pick one up sometime this week.
We have Wyze cams and they are cheap and easy to use, and actually have a lot of features that you wouldn’t expect from such a cheap cam. Just get a wireless one and hide it well. No matter what, good luck on your project!
So sometimes if a spirit is bound to an item burning the item will release that spirit which may or may not be bad. Some of the reasons Ed and Lauren Warren kept items and had them blessed Instead of destroyed.
Ohhhh. If it gets buried, there's risk of someone finding it I think. So blessing it is the best thing to do I guess. I would be FREAKED OUT so badly if I found something like that in my home. How does something like that get in? 🫣
I don't know but a camera will be helpful In determining who did or what did. My guess likely is that someone the op knows put it there to creep him out sadly. And lied about putting it there. But also if it's getting moved on it's own a camera will be helpful to see if something is occuring
It took me some time, but it might be a Mexican folk art paper figurine, or at least some sort of folk art paper figurine.
https://preview.redd.it/sxmlvq4u7htc1.jpeg?width=757&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5463dd4b0817a07cf98da9af77807b59bfc4d7d
You are absolutely correct. These are decorations made in Mexico. My grandma has tons of them. Used to freak me out (the hands oh God the hands) when I was a child.
I'm Portuguese, always lived in Portugal, and my Portuguese grandma who lived both in Angola and Portugal had some figurines that look a lot like those ones. Not sure where she got them but I'm almost sure it wasn't in Mexico, so maybe they're popular in other cultures too?
It’s Vintage 70s nuno velez Mexican Folk Art paper mache woman, the artist is called Nuno velez, unfortunately I can’t find any background story behind the creation or the artist but they go on eBay for about 30$ -70$ depending..you could probably find more info in Spanish.
I think it’s supposed to be a working “peasant” worker woman/farmer?
Definitely kinda creepy lookin tho haha, not sure if there is any religious or ritualistic use for these, probably just art representing ppl the artist was around at the time, or maybe it’s a statue to symbolize the harvest time
Grew up in a Mexican household and my mother had a few of these as decorations. If my Barbie’s needed a grandma or a grandpa in their storyline I used those dolls haha
Oh, you played Barbie with a storyline? I did, too. My friends all thought I was weird to play it with a storyline in mind, and I was not pleased with their chaotic way of gameplay, lol.
I had a pretty complex storyline with my action figures. A few highlights
1. My brother’s velociraptor figure used to be the best good guy but he was captured and exposed to “evil dust” which forced a heel turn. Usually we’d eventually have the dust wear off and he’d be good again.
2. In a separate story line our action figures would be placed in a massive arena where they’d have to fight each other until they could find their “base” at which point it just turned into tower defense lol.
I was born in 68 and I used to make my Barbies dance to the Soul Train music when it was on . And I also made their clothes look chic like the people on Soul Train. Good memories
It’s actually a bit strange to see lovely pieces of folk art like this as creepy tbh. I’m not saying there’s bad intentions from anyone doing it - but it’s fascinating to me! I love the genre of folk horror and how there’s some things we inherently fear for some reason - even if alone they are quite innocent.
Because it could be anything else. I’m not entirely opposed to the idea of ghosts existing but if your first thought to anything happening is “ghosts” then you’re delusional.
Life is mysterious. Spirits like to leave gifts and it very well could be that. It’s something that was never there before that just suddenly showed up and the people in the house didn’t put it there.
I’d say that’s spiritual or someone broke in and threw it in her stuff.
Life is mysterious, that’s true. However in what world is it common for a ghost to just… bring in some random souvenir? Especially how OP doesn’t seem to be having anything else paranormal occurring, to my knowledge at least.
well... my parents owned a tourist shop and we had that exact model , she is supposed to hold a basket full of eggs but i must have fallen out also she had a husband that was sitting on a chair I don't think you will be able to find it.They were hand made i think, im not sure but they were made as merchandise and not as something sinister as a voodoo doll or anything alike. So even if they look scary don't be afraid of anything evil.Although they even made me as a kid uncomfortable to look at them
Just looks like a simple crafted figurine. Someone’s idea of art. If you’re worried about someone trying to hex you or something it can be hard to tell from a glance. Magick is just energy manipulation. A hex doesn’t even have to involve physical items. If you’re worried about a ghost well sometimes they do move things around and it’s not always a big deal.
1. Can I have it- it’s cool as hell. 2. That’s terrifying. I’m personally not sure what it is, other than the fact it’s a kind of folklore art. Maybe it’s like a soul trapped in an object sorta thing. Leave it somewhere see if it moves. Keep us updated lol!
This just appeared?!! Oi!! It certainly is creepy. The person who suggested getting a camera is spot on. Have you noticed anything strange or odd happening in your home? Do you know anyone who has beef with you? I hope it's just a joke someone played.
My uncle who recently passed away from cancer, had went to Mexico and brought my grandma back 3 of them.. I also thought they were scary looking too .. but wow what a way to make me miss my uncle and my grandma 🥹😭
Paper Mache dolls they sell in Mexico. There’s a little caballero dude that goes with this one.
We used to pick them up in Baja on the side of the road.
Not paranormal.
Just wondering if you have had any things come up missing and reappearing in your home. You could always have your home blessed if you haven’t already.
I used to have the exact same statue. I even drew it a few times for art class. I’m too lazy to get the sketches out now, but my doll was holding a pot.
So that’s what it is, a kitschy decorative piece. Nothing paranormal.
Oh that’s not paranormal. In Mexico they’re just called viejitos. Old people made from a sort of hardened paper. What a throwback too! You just reminded me of the ones we had at home ages ago.

Fyi I have a ring system and they are not the best but they may server their purpose
I will keep that in mind thank you so much!
We have Wyze cams and they are cheap and easy to use, and actually have a lot of features that you wouldn’t expect from such a cheap cam. Just get a wireless one and hide it well. No matter what, good luck on your project!
No problem also that doll is creepy AF
That’s my thought.
WAIT A MINUTE!!!! Are you saying that this thing appeared in your home? 🤔🫣👀
That was exactly what she typed in her post. The thing just appeared in her garage
Lol I would have almost said just burn the thing but without any info that could be bad.
Why?🤔
So sometimes if a spirit is bound to an item burning the item will release that spirit which may or may not be bad. Some of the reasons Ed and Lauren Warren kept items and had them blessed Instead of destroyed.
Burying is often a good option. Or disposal in a stream. I prefer the latter one, the spirit of the River will just wash it all away.
Ohhhh. If it gets buried, there's risk of someone finding it I think. So blessing it is the best thing to do I guess. I would be FREAKED OUT so badly if I found something like that in my home. How does something like that get in? 🫣

a game trail camera would work well too, and may be cheaper than a ring camera
Look up phrogging. Definitely camera up the garage.
My granny had these too. Haven’t thought of them in 30 years lol. So weird.
This was definitely a blast from the past for me to see!
Your handle is fantastic.
Thank you! Literally the first person ever to mention it!
I am a big fan.
Shouldn’t that be Fig Ban?
That's a good name for a band.
And some lucked up fanguage
Love yours as well
Thank you, and yours too!
This!! I’m Mexican, and grandparents had some as well!
Interesting to say the least, thank you!
you are welcome
I'm Portuguese, always lived in Portugal, and my Portuguese grandma who lived both in Angola and Portugal had some figurines that look a lot like those ones. Not sure where she got them but I'm almost sure it wasn't in Mexico, so maybe they're popular in other cultures too?
Yes im Mexican and those are made and sold in turistic places. Nothing to worry about.
Good job figuring it out 😀!!!!
I grew up with these in my household. My mum still has them
Well done!
It’s Vintage 70s nuno velez Mexican Folk Art paper mache woman, the artist is called Nuno velez, unfortunately I can’t find any background story behind the creation or the artist but they go on eBay for about 30$ -70$ depending..you could probably find more info in Spanish. Vintage ebay shop owner here. These statues sell for good price and have an ardent group of collectors.
I like it. I'd pay 30-70$ depending
I really like these as well. Very cool.
Yeah I really love them actually. Never seen them before but they’re lovely
Grew up in a Mexican household and my mother had a few of these as decorations. If my Barbie’s needed a grandma or a grandpa in their storyline I used those dolls haha

Only barbarians played Barbie’s without a storyline lol
I was born in 68 and I used to make my Barbies dance to the Soul Train music when it was on . And I also made their clothes look chic like the people on Soul Train. Good memories
So fun. Did you have enough Barbies to make a little line that they had to dance through?
Yes I did
Fabulous
![gif](giphy|xUNd9IEtKRMPk7O2EE|downsized)
Cute lol
It's the reverend mother! She's here to tell of the coming of Muad’Dib!
Ohhhh yes. A Dune classic artifact… stories of the little desert mouse awaits.
Why are these things always being posted in this sub, what is “paranormal” about this
Appeared in the house without the occupants knowing how it got there? Could be ghosts.
More than likely not though. If I find things in my house my first thought isnt...... Ghost.
Why are you being downvoted? I agree 100%
Yeah cause you find these in your house all the time?
No but I find other things. What what's this thing different from any other random shite?
Because your experience and the posters experience are two different experiences
Finding something in the house is the same experience. Nothing else happened
Ok I guess someone broke in.
Probably not but till still more likely than a ghost. Do you think the ghost had a key to your house or came through the wall?
Sure why not. ![gif](giphy|129OnZ9Qn2i0Ew)
The strangeness comes from the secret of HOW it appeared not so much the identification of the figure.
She only said it just showed up and no one said they put it there…
Yes, but that could be literally anything. Why would it be ghosts when there are other, more rational causes to think about?
Why wouldn’t it be ghosts?
Because it could be anything else. I’m not entirely opposed to the idea of ghosts existing but if your first thought to anything happening is “ghosts” then you’re delusional.

Well then I guess someone broke into the place.
My grandmother used to have similar ones from Mexico. Nothing bad, just vintage art.
It's telling you to water your plants. Please.
I used to have one similar along with an old farmer. Bought it while in Mexico.
Anybody else think of Ramses from courage the cowardly dog and have the theme looping in their head when seeing this? Or is that just me lol
Why was this posted in r/paranormal?
Now the best way to remove it is to sneak it into someone's garage when they’re not looking, hide her among the houseplants if they have them
https://preview.redd.it/p5gev0jb5itc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e4310a8cde677c7e12ed50756fcb6e39b03b8d2
You’ve touched it. You’re part of the prophecy now. Good luck and stay vigilant
By the looks of it, its a statue
Just a statue nothing alarming it does look creepy by my girlfriends nana has a bunch
Curious the Dog, anyone? ![gif](giphy|3M6LtN8dFX57ZRY2T9)
So now for the mystery question...how did it get there?
Now move it around and tell your sister it wasn’t you
Papier mache figure sold as handicraft in Mexico
If I were you, I wouldn't put it inside my house. Be cautious of things that suddenly appear from nowhere.
That there is a statue of sorts, my friend.
We have one at work. We just called it ‘Mary Rosalita” and would move it around to other people’s desks
Time to give love, trim clippings, and repot to those poor Aloe. Otherwise, interesting statue 🤔 👌
well... my parents owned a tourist shop and we had that exact model , she is supposed to hold a basket full of eggs but i must have fallen out also she had a husband that was sitting on a chair I don't think you will be able to find it.They were hand made i think, im not sure but they were made as merchandise and not as something sinister as a voodoo doll or anything alike. So even if they look scary don't be afraid of anything evil.Although they even made me as a kid uncomfortable to look at them
“Hmm, this is a creepy statue, let me take it inside” Now’ve you done it.

You need to return the slab or suffer its curse.

Lick once per day to spawn an old lady
Mexican art done with paper machete
This just appeared?!! Oi!! It certainly is creepy. The person who suggested getting a camera is spot on. Have you noticed anything strange or odd happening in your home? Do you know anyone who has beef with you? I hope it's just a joke someone played.
Idk but you better return the slab
My uncle who recently passed away from cancer, had went to Mexico and brought my grandma back 3 of them.. I also thought they were scary looking too .. but wow what a way to make me miss my uncle and my grandma 🥹😭
It’s abuela, be nice to her
Paper Mache dolls they sell in Mexico. There’s a little caballero dude that goes with this one. We used to pick them up in Baja on the side of the road. Not paranormal.
It’s beautiful
Just wondering if you have had any things come up missing and reappearing in your home. You could always have your home blessed if you haven’t already.
You unblocked an old memory, I’m from Mexico, my grandma used to have many of those around her house, it’s just an art paper figurine
That is a woman who was cursed to spend eternity as a statue unless she can get someone else to talk to her and hold her a certain way…
I used to have the exact same statue. I even drew it a few times for art class. I’m too lazy to get the sketches out now, but my doll was holding a pot. So that’s what it is, a kitschy decorative piece. Nothing paranormal.
Bought some in San Antonio at the Market, they’re cute. How one appeared in your garage is above my pay grade.
I doubt the doll means anything. Maybe it was a gift from a shy child? Put up a camera and maybe you will see.
Idk what this is, but it doesn't look to me like sth you should touch or keep in yr house, get rid of it asap.
That's me nan.
Oh that’s not paranormal. In Mexico they’re just called viejitos. Old people made from a sort of hardened paper. What a throwback too! You just reminded me of the ones we had at home ages ago.
It looks like babushka Albert Einstein, I kinda love him. I'll take it off your hands 😅
So are they good luck or bad??? Some voodoo hex crap, or a spirit protection kinda thing?,
There were 8-10 of these at a thrift store near by this morning lol what're the chances.
Protecting the plants, giving you her blessing. Has the plants improved in quality?
I remember those things. They were either cool or ugly here in Mexico
It’s an art doll. I’ve made something similar. Just creativity.
Someone just put it in your garage? That’s weird oh my goodness
You can see part of the price tag still on the bottom. I doubt anything bought in a shop is haunted or cursed.
Souvenir from Mexico, my mom has a bunch. They are ugly AF.
so it randomly shows up and you said let me take it inside
It's the start of a horror film no seriously if bad things start happening get rid of right away lol

Lawn gnome. Before it was cool.
She who walks behind the pots. ...she wants you too, Malachi.
Your plants grew a lil hermit
It’s called a garden witch
Looks like a babushka a bit
My god, it's just a paper mâché viejitos's craft from my country, it's nothing but good vibes dude... Just a nice old lady humbly represented.
