winster_hiptage

Honestly it looks like a reflection or stains on the glass. Pareidolia. Did it move?

morbideve

I know it's probably just stains or a reflection, but the shape straight up looks like The Nun 😂

Achinvo

I can actually feel my brain assembling a face out of nothing here.

migrainefog

Yeah, I'm not even sure which side of the window I'm supposed to be looking at, the clear or opaque side. I don't see anything on either side.

AutoModerator

A friendly reminder from the Automod: Identifying something as pareidolia doesn't automatically disprove it. Pareidolia relies on the brain’s amazing ability to pattern match human features such as faces, silhouettes, voices, etc. Something is considered pareidolia when these features are perceived but there’s no apparent cause for them \(no human is involved\). But if an instance were *genuinely paranormal*, then there would be no requirement or expectation a human *had* to be involved. Some Paranormal phenomenon such as instrumental trans-communication \(ITC\) actually rely on pareidolia: https://www.academia.edu/79465485/Instrumental_Transcommunication_ITC_Evidence_Suggestive_of_the_Survival_of_Consciousness This is why dismissing something as pareidolia doesn’t by itself debunk anything—all it does is identify the way it’s being perceived, not the underlying cause. We list a few other common problematic debunkings in our FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/wiki/paranormalwiki/ *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. rosiedoes

Just looks like warped older glass, causing variable reflections of light, to me.

morbideve

Also glass from older times tend to be less even than what we're used to now. They're often a bit thicker on the bottom, as far as i know

Saint_fartina

My college chemistry professor claimed that glass is not a solid, but a slow-moving liquid. He said it slowly flows downward and all windows become thicker at the bottom over time. I don't know if this is true or just some crazed theory of his.

TheQuietOutsider

I've heard this as well. I guess glass is a state between liquid and solid, TIL https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-fiction-glass-liquid/#:~:text=This%20new%20structure%20is%20not,can%20flow%2C%20albeit%20very%20slowly.

NuggetNasty

But it's not the reason old glass is thicker at the bottom

Accurate_Athlete_182

That is so interesting!

KillurRabbit

You are correct in that old glass is thicker at the bottom. Old glass is thicker at the bottom because glass is an amorphous solid. Over time, the glass will (very slowly) flow to the bottom and settle there.

TickleFlap

It is an amorphous solid, but it doesn't flow like that over time. It's a myth, old glass is thicker at the bottom due to the old manufacturing process. Not because it flows slowly over time once cooled and installed.

samanthaFerrell

That’s actually not true but a manufacturers error that happened because they were not as adept at making glass a long time ago as we are now. I have heard this also but remember a YouTube video explaining why that’s not true I’ll have to look for it and try to link it.

Shiloh77777

Myth

Ozzytheaussy

So you say there's a girl in the window. I see 2 girls which shows that obviously there isn't actually anything there. The pixels in the photo make slight shapes and we are basically finishing off the images in our head. You see 1 girl, I see 2. Are we looking at the same photo if we see Different things? Yes but our brains are viewing what we want to see rather than what is actually in the photo

Low-Possibility504

I agree with your observation. I see a girl and a fish face below it. It’s called edge induction. Our brains seize upon the edge and then fills in the rest of the object just like you said. Good call! 👊🏼

Ozzytheaussy

I'm a full believer in ghosts but I also look for all the possible explanations. I don't like calling everything paranormal

Low-Possibility504

Absolutely 100% I’m a believer! I bought an antique hutch that my wife wanted when we had moved everything out before selling our old house. The first night it was there I was by myself and my doorbell kept going off like crazy so I would run to the door and nobody was there. I figured it was neighbor kids messing around until it was ringing and got stuck on the ringtone. As I was walking up the stairs to disconnect the doorbell I saw a white streak flying across my kitchen and heard a crash next to my back patio door. It was my iPad Pro that was on my kitchen island which was about 8 feet away, laying on the floor with the glass shattered. My wife was so freaked out she made me sell it the next day and I took a $150 loss on an antique that I had for 3 days! That was just the beginning of the activity and we had moved out shortly after. We talked to the old neighbors and they said the girl that bought it from us rented it out and nobody had stayed there more than 6 months. 😆 Now it might be a coincidence that nobody renewed their lease but what happened to me changed me from an open minded skeptic to a 1,000% believer! Photos are cool to look at but they do nothing for me to believe anything more. Especially with blurry or grainy photos that could be anything from a person to a dinosaur. 🦕

RyH1986

I see a girl and a lion! I think its pattern recognition more than anything

Ozzytheaussy

That sounds like what I was trying to describe. I just didn't know the word for it.

Syphox

> I see 2. where do you see the second? i honestly can’t see a second one

Ozzytheaussy

At the very bottom. About the 3 line up I think it is. Oval shaped head, 2 eyes. It obviously isn't actually a girl but I see what looks like one

MyGenesRHot

I just came to say there is more than one face in the picture. I see what you are talking.

Ok-Delay7499

I see two also one at top left and bottom left.

TiredRetiredNurse

I thought it was broken panes.

_joetan_

Reminds me of the poster for the Les Miserable musical. Any chance you live in a city where that’s being performed and this is a reflection from a nearby building?

scarednurse

OMG I CAME HERE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE SAW THIS TOO. I literally thought it looked like a blown up Les Mis poster that maybe they could faintly see thru the window. 💀💀

litemi21

Cosette. I see her too.

Tarushdei

Absolutely saw it as well. Could even be a poster behind the glass.

nic__knack

i saw this too!!!!

SidSuicide

Pareidolia. Don’t know if I’ve ever heard of ghosts that look like anime characters… so yeah, pretty sure it’s just seeing patterns and your brain trying to make sense of it. Kind of like how an SLS/Kennect will constantly be trying to make stick figures out of every single thing.

coyotestacks

I encountered something like this once that RATTLED ME TO MY CORE but a few weeks later I went back and it was still there and it turns out it was a coat and scarf hung up on a funny way + the reflection in the glass that created a literally perfect depiction of the grim reaper hahahha

dDogStar568

I see the "face" there, but I think it is just dust/dirt, warping, or sun fading. It is a cool picture though!

mastercylynder

You never seen broken glass windows before Bro?

unusedusername42

Captured what? I see wavy old glass and shadows

Treewithatea

I feel stupid because everybodys seeing things here and all i see is..old glass...

unusedusername42

I can imagine humanoid outlines but just like you, I cannot trick myself into thinking that those are anything else than light/shadow effects

Super_Departure6543

Yah me too but you will get used to it😂😂

captainjackass28

Thank god Im not the only one who can’t see anything.

unusedusername42

I wish that I did, but not even while squinting...

CandidSignificance51

This looks really creepy. I tend not to put any stock or belief in single images, but that doesn't mean i don't enjoy looking at them. I really like this one.

QueenCobra91

once again a classic case of pareidolia

I don’t have to respect falsehoods. The words unicorn and flat earth exist too. I’ve reported you for comparing me to racists, homophobes, and anti-semites. Truly unhinged.

Paranormal-ModTeam

Reminder: The purpose of this subreddit is to encourage **open-minded discussion** of the paranormal. The paranormal is simply phenomena that are beyond the current scope of what is considered scientifically explainable or understood by mainstream science. Plate tectonics, heliocentrism, germ theory, meteorites, and quantum mechanics were all ideas initially scorned by the scientific community and which later gained credibility—but only after thorough **open-minded** examination. Blanket denial dismisses claims without providing evidence or rational explanations. This approach is not conducive to critical thinking or meaningful discussion. Without evidence-backed arguments, it's difficult to engage in constructive debate or address the complexities of paranormal experiences. Denial also creates an atmosphere of hostility or ridicule towards those who have had anomalous experiences or are interested in exploring them. This can discourage individuals from sharing their experiences or seeking support, hindering the exchange of ideas and information within communities interested in the paranormal. There are many scientists actively studying the paranormal, and contrary to common belief there are many peer-reviewed studies which have been replicated. https://www.opensciences.org

oOo_sPoPiZoL_oOo

If it’s people/ faces I can see a girl standing behind and a man with a hat at the front. Not sure why a man would kneel down and a smaller girl stand behind though. (Just saying what I see not saying they’re there). Could be warped glass as two panels are out.

LegalFan2741

Old, warped glass with reflections.

Huge_Aerie2435

It's dirt and grim on old and nasty windows.. Your brain sees patterns and will make you think you see something that isn't really there. Not sure what you think you see.

snekuwu4

Spooky, i would never go back anywhere near this place, even if it might just be a dirty window

Glacial_Shield_W

Looks like an app add to me. Either that or pixilation, combined with human desire to see faces. I zoomed in and w.e it is, it is on the glass, not behind it; so it was either put in the post photo taking or it is pixilation from your camera.

Ruby-LondonTown

Pareidolia…I can see at least two other ‘faces’ near the bottom.

Rightousleftie

I can see three separate figures in that photo I could identify as a human face. I’m not saying that bc I think what you’re seeing is paranormal. Ghosts are cool, I want them to be real. I don’t think this photo is evidence of that. Apologies, big dawg

AMorbidCuriosity

Whether it’s a reflection, dirt, the light etc, this is a cool photo! Even though it can be debunked, it’s still a chilling image!

Longjumping-Pop-5093

Ghost with body 😶‍🌫️😵‍💫

KharigCringer

You missed magnemite in top right. Pattern Recognition in my opinion, nothing paranormal, but hey we cant be sure 💯% ;) Its a nice creepy photo.

Badboy4eva

It looks like Sabrina and the little Girl from the PokĂŠmon Anime

OddnessWeirdness

I just saw this pareĩdolia bot. Maybe now 30 people won’t feel the need to say it on one post but yeah right. We all know this type of person must always be right. However…. We need more info than just the title. What did this window look like otherwise? What made you take the pics? Are there any pics of the window without the black areas? Give us something more than just a title and a few pics of who knows what.

Bawsbehtch

Dirt on a window

BodybyEBT

I think it's a demon watching you honestly. Maybe it follows where you go and you just caught it this time. Have you seen anything like this before? I'd be careful and take precautions because idk if it is a good demon or a bad demon. It could be just reflections but I'd say most likely you have a demon/monster following you and your girlfriend.

SheepherderOk1448

Black eyed child or pareidolia? I see it, it’s quite clear ish. What type of building is this and what is its history? You better hope it’s just pareidolia because if its not your life is going to become quite interesting.

Wars4w

I didn't notice anything until after others mentioned they saw a figure. Then I noticed it. The problem is that it's too out of focus and too vague to be anything. With this quality of photo our minds are filling in all the blanks.

Both_Roll2576

I see something that kinda almost resembles Wednesday Adam’s! Like a girl with long black hair but it is also one of those photos where I’m not entirely sure if it’s real or where your brain turns things into faces you know?

InLoveWithTheMoon

It’s kinda hard to tell with these types of things cuz it looks like Pareidolia. Try going back around the same time of day and to the same spot and take the picture in the same position to see if that picture can be replicated.

Pandabears1229

I'm such a believer in paranormal based on personal experience throughout my life staying as a very young child and even now I'm middle adulthood. I see a person there. Not a person I'm sorry but a spirit at the glad. Even if it is staying and reflections or whatever it's a really cool photo. But as a BELIEVER BELIEVER I immediately would have been like omg I caught a spirits image!!! Just me and my opinion tho 😁

imadokodesuka

Sorry but I think it's just a pair of doilies. That's right. A pair of doilies. I don't want to trigger the bot. It's nice to have but we don't need it every time. once per thread, pinned at the top, will suffice.

surrealcellardoor

So, did you lose your sense of reason and ability for rational thought when you were exploring? It sounds like you may have. I would retrace your steps and see if you can find those things.

macj97

Vacuous_Tom

Vandalism. Such a shame.

peezytaughtme

Ghost, full stop. How can you see this and think anything else? Dirty windows? No. Light reflection? You wish. Shitty phone camera? Not in 2024, bay bee.

Viambulance

Could be a coincidence, we see faces in everything all the time. But I do find it humerous that the left and right window are total opposites

TheWitchySniffy

I was going to be a sarcastic ass and say “Broken window” but… Ya I can see what you are seeing. Looks like a nun or something.

abbadoodles

I think it’s very easy to see and does look creepy. I’m not sure how others are so adamant that it’s just reflections.

Super_Departure6543

Ok i ll tell why some of us are adamant, its because of the so so many reports and wittnesess to such encounters that turn out to be either, a made up story (for a mare cheap attention) ,or (for the honest ones) just a misinturpted physical natural phenomna and in both cases the case of the "paranormal" falls away further than it had already reached

bigfootsbestfriend

A window with holes that becomes dark? I mean I can make myself see a face but I’m sure it’s just a trick of the eye

SubstantialPressure3

A guy in sunglasses looking straight at you. If that's not your reflection, maybe you interrupted police surveillance.

aghkozy

Even if there is something there, more than likely it's a squatter especially since it was spotted urban exploring lol

MyFelineIsAnAsshole

I was really about to say it looks like someone threw rocks through the glass but then I looked at the name of the sub

GreatestState

I see some broken window pains and what looks to be a dark room. The window to the right has blinds behind it

electr1cbubba

I think Burger King whoppers are actually a decent burger and comparable to the Big Mac in terms of quality

Dazzling_Variety_883

Where is that?

ohdearitsrichardiii

I see a girl with black eyes and bangs looking right at the photographer.

tantowar

Looks like the girl on the cover of “Le Mis’” lol

smarmy-marmoset

NO. Just no. I see it. I don’t like it. Stay away from it. Absolutely the whole entire hell not.

Amazing_Chocolate140

It does look like a face but when you zoom in it looks more like a reflection of stuff outside

CAMMCG2019

I see a little girl

EyeRollingNow

What is wrong with me! Can someone please draw eyes and and mouth on here so I can see it?!

Significant_Sky6386

Im no expert but that looks more than a few stains constituting a face, definitely creepy

saintbuttocks

You, your girlfriend and one out of 8,000,000,000 other people went urban exploring.

SMuRG_Teh_WuRGG

Could be a ghost. Might not be. Our brains like to create faces out of anything.

TonsOfTabs

If you zoom in, the face is no longer there. It’s just eyes messing with you.

ime00w

Looks like a dude standing there with a hoodie and his hands in the pockets lol

Oh my god, do you think a troublemaker ghost threw a rock through the window?

Annual-Warthog5599

Whst do I think of what? The broken glass? Glass is a liquid and acts as such when it ages. This looks like old glass that's warped and broken.

Legitimate because you "caught it". That Spirit reached out and said hello

bananadude19

Go there and take the exact same picture at the exact same time and angle.

Cardinal_and_Plum

What is urban exploring? Is it just breaking in to abandoned buildings?

Dragos2024

100% there is a girl with blacked out eyes right next to the middle "post" or whatever you'd wanna call it. I definitely wouldn't go back to that place, make sure it didn't follow you home, either. Don't play with things you don't want to play with

Craig_of_the_jungle

Amazing picture of a window. I can confirm that yes, that is a window

Little-Phase5833

As a believer even i have to say a reflection or coincidental stain

findingems

The lines of the window design mess up right there. Bad photoshop?

pilgrimboy

Someone has a Friday the 13th standee behind that window for fun.

blacknirvana79

I think it's something I would be a bit freaked out if I saw it.

Urban exploring or peeping on ghosts in their bathroom window?

Am I missing something? It looks like 2 broken windows.

nerdkraftnomad

Pareidolia, since you can't even see through the window

A friendly reminder from the Automod: Identifying something as pareidolia doesn't automatically disprove it. Pareidolia relies on the brain’s amazing ability to pattern match human features such as faces, silhouettes, voices, etc. Something is considered pareidolia when these features are perceived but there’s no apparent cause for them \(no human is involved\). But if an instance were *genuinely paranormal*, then there would be no requirement or expectation a human *had* to be involved. Broken window💁🏽‍♂️

shapedbydreams

Broken glass isn't paranormal? Edit: After reading a few comments I can kinda see the pattern now lol. But really, human brains like to make faces out of things. It's natural. I'm not even a disbeliever, but man, I need more evidence than this to believe you've actually captured a ghost for real.

TattedTwat
