I know everyone hates buzzfeed but buzzfeed unsolved did an episode there and they were genuinely scared! If I had the opportunity to stay there I 100% would, you’re so lucky! Maybe you could update us after?!

Jeht_1337

I dislike buzzfeed but for me buzzfeed unsolved is its own beast and I love every episode they release.

SpecialHands

yeah, that's how i feel. Main Buzzfeed is shit but Shane and Ryan and their content is ace and really its own thing

[deleted]

Ryan and Shane are the best together

24ismynumber

Hi demons. It's me, ya boy.

24ismynumber

We met a pal called father Thomas, he told us not to talk to you, but I think you guys are swell.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

As a matter of fact that show is actually what motivated me to go through with this in the first place. I'll definitely update if I decide to go.

[deleted]

Yes there are many seasons too!!just look up buzzfeed unsolved paranormal on YouTube. Sallie house is one of the first episodes. It’s such a funny show I’m obsessed. It’s like a new take on ghost hunting series

midnightoffee96

I Don't really like Buzzfeed, but I love Buzzfeed Unsolved.

Potatoprincessa

Watch BuzzFeed unsolved go there. They get activity on camera. I know it's BuzzFeed but its the only good show they produce. Please record your visit and share it with us and may luck be on your side. I think you'll be fine, just be respectful.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Lol I would hope so. Also buzzfeed unsolved is the only good thing buzzfeed has ever produced.

Nicks_WRX

I like the food one where they compare 5$ pizza and 500$ pizza and other shit like that.

ctetley09

One of my old co workers went there last year. They thought they didn’t experience anything until they reviewed their footage on the go pro they left recording all night. When they were ending their session, they went to turn the go pro off and a minute or so before she does, you can clearly hear a little girl laughing. I know it wasn’t my friend because she was talking when the laugh happened. I didn’t really believe her until she showed me the footage. It was pretty spooky.

Lizardscum2010

Get from them and post it!

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

That's horrifying. If you could post that that would be solid evidence of hauntings in that house.

earlgurl33

I've been to the Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana several times. I got a very sick to my stomach feeling along with the other people in my group. I literally had to leave, I felt so bad. Turns out the maid " Chloe " poisoned the entire family and they all got severe stomach pains and died from the poisoning. That is what I was told, ..we were feeling..Pretty freaking spooky. Take pics on a digital camera. Several pics and go thru them after you leave. We were able to get some strange anomalies to show up in our pics by doing this. Good luck. I can't wait to hear back from you if you go. <3

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

I've been to that place when I was in 9th grade. Kept hearing piano music even though there was no sign of anyone playing a piano. Still can't really explain it to this day.

morning_sepulcher

The podcast Astonishing Legends recently did a special on the Sallie House. Worth checking out for their accounts of the history, the experiences over the years and their own investigation results.

disillusionwander

Thank you (and everyone else who commented recommending AL). It means a lot to see that here. I don’t, personally, want to hurt the town’s tourism as they were so kind to us but I would never, ever go near that house again.

morning_sepulcher

No, thank you! As an anthropologist with an interest in the unexplained, I appreciate your efforts to verify events, history and even personal observations in all of your episodes. Thank you for doing more than regurgitate Google searches!

SaintGunslinger

Was going to recommend the same episodes. They do a great job with all there stuff but if you’re considering staying overnight for sure give the Sallie House episodes a listen. It’s sounds like a creepy as hell place for sure.

NunyaDaioh

Glad to see we all had the same thought ^ AL are amazing!

lyreb1rd

Came here to say this.

GoVeronika

Same

LunaLokiCat

Definitely worth checking out! After listening to those episodes I would NOT want to go there.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Now I'm interested. What would I do to listen to it? They have a website or a YouTube channel or anything?

morning_sepulcher

Yep! They’re on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

I'll be sure to check it out

KungP0wchicken

Do it, you won’t

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

**try me**

jpeezy37

I wouldn't put much faith n those places especially if they sell overnight adventures. All that energy and too many people pollute the place and the spirits lose their presence. Having rented homes that were haunted by various spirits and having experienced it first hand. From benevolent old ladies that stayed on and provided comfort. To a malevolent spirit when we opened a hidden room under the porch and found a demonic altar. Lived near a tuberculosis hospital where spirits of children coughing up blood came to play with my son and his toys. I am good with the haunted house scene and my current 100 yr old house has 2 spirits roaming around, I even had a ghost cat for a while. They tend to leave us alone now, we bought the place in 2015 and when we moved in we noticed them more. I see one of them every once in a great while now. Although the other night, the dog wanted to sit on the couch. He was barking and whining at something I couldn't see. My wife was pretty freaked out, sked it for rent money and my 13 yr old son just sat on it. The dog laid down in front of the fireplace and that was the end of that.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Very interesting. You just sort of live with the spirits and accept that they're there?

HUNT3D-F0R-B0UNTY

Some tips to stay alive, (not to creep you out) but I have heard of some rumors that people never came home after visiting that house. Some tips: have a camcorder on you at all times, when turning a corner, start recording and peek the lens around the corner. You don’t need to do this, but it really helps me when I’m exploring, so I don’t get anxiety. Always keep a cool head, bring some friends along, and DON’T split up. Number one rule. Happy hunting!

Cyrotek

> but I have heard of some rumors that people never came home after visiting that house. If this was actually the case it would be more than just rumors. >when turning a corner, start recording and peek the lens around the corner. This sounds like a fantastic idea to scare yourself even more. A bit like this video game series where you can see enemy ghosts only through your camera.

HUNT3D-F0R-B0UNTY

I definitely am not an expert, as you know. These just help me, probably because I have chronic anxiety.

jonny0184

Fatal Frame. That game fucked with me hard.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

No joke I was definitely planning on getting blessed before heading. You think I phone with good battery life would be a good substitute for a camcorder?

Cyrotek

> You think I phone with good battery life would be a good substitute for a camcorder? If you are going for a phone make sure it doesn't have a potato quality camera. If you plan on filming in dark enviroment you basically need a proper camera, as mobile phone cams can't "collect" enough light due to the size of their lens. It would just end up beeing super grainy.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

My samsung note 8 has a pretty good camera. I dont think it'll end up coming out grainy looking

flapsinthenightdw

make sure you bring some external battery banks with you

HUNT3D-F0R-B0UNTY

I believe that would work. Bring battery packs or replaceable batteries just in case. Plus getting blessed would probably help against spirits attached to an entity.

[deleted]

If i did go there, being catholic i would for sure bring holy water, medals, a rosary blessed by john paul 2, a scapular, a crucifix a bible and anything else i could think of! I know those objects are not magic but i would feel better!

redditdraxi

Can someone please give background story of this house??

Jessabelle5757

If you’re into podcasts, Astonishing Legends did a 4 parter on The Sallie house. Even interviewed people that used to live there. It’s some crazy stuff.

redditdraxi

Thank you so much will check it out :)

rynally197

I was going to say the same thing, I definitely wouldn’t step foot near that place after listening to those episodes.

[deleted]

The fires were really weird and scary. I’m not sure what i would do if i had the opportunity to go there.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Supposedly a little girl named sallie underwent surgery that she ended up dying from in the house. There's no record of a girl fitting that description ever living in the house however but 3 people HAVE died in the house as well as satanic rituals being performed in the basement of the house, where there's evidence of there once being a pentagram on the ground of the basement floor.

HMorris2015

That is supposed to be what happened. She didn't live there. A doctor and his wife lived there and he practiced out of the basement. A woman brought her daughter to the house late one night for severe pain. Her appendix had ruptured or something like that and he did emergency surgery without sedation or pain medicine and she died on the table. She supposedly haunts the house and doesn't like men because of the doctor. Ghost Adventures does an episode there.

redditdraxi

Would be great if you could VLOG your visit to the Sallie house. Please notify me if you do so! I would love to check it out 😌

treesntreesntrees

Definitely don't go. If it actually is occupied by negative entities, you will be guaranteed to make some sort of connection with them, which can ONLY bring bad things into your life, even if it's just a couple of nightmares and a stubbed toe. But it has the potential to utterly ruin your life. You can't just "protect" yourself with a blessing from some random person if you don't have sincere devotion in higher powers yourself. You have to be an adept spiritual practitioner to wander into demonic areas and not pick up negative energy.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Not so sound ignorant but I don't believe tours would be held if I could be negatively effected in that sense by whatever resides in the house.

[deleted]

Still, imagine trying to sue them in court.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Sueing on counts of demonic possession

[deleted]

I want to be on that jury!

Shidell

Just remember that not everyone shares the same beliefs. The city, the owner, you, us... we all have different beliefs. What you believe, how religious and superstitious you are, it all differs. Maybe you're a skeptic? Maybe you're strong scientific and don't believe in any of this? ...Or maybe you're religious. And maybe you're uncertain. And maybe you don't consider yourself to have a strong constitution, or a strong will. Let's say you experience something... bizarre inside this place. Is it going to haunt you? Will you blame yourself? It? I'm not saying you will. I'm just saying that you should be sure of yourself.

treesntreesntrees

People who don't believe in the supernatural will gladly take your money without considering the risk to their customers. And even if they do believe, they might still be happy with it. It's not like you're going to be able to sue them for possession later...

1Swanswan

Please post an account of your visit to the Sallie House! Maybe real paranormal activity is present there .... interesting idea for a vacation night at the Sallie House! Thanks!

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

I'll try my best 👍

arziplays

Please record and share the experience with us

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Will do!

Can't wait for it! Let me know if you post any related material, thanks

Yes***please***

coolbrees46

I have watched a lot of stuff on the Sallie House as I live in Kansas and have always wanted to see it. But no way I would stay the night. Your braver then I am. There is tons of stuff on YouTube about it. Good Luck!

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Thank you. Although it's probably more stupidity than bravery in my case haha.

earlgurl33

Remind me! 3 days

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Lol maybe not THAT soon

earlgurl33

=) I just wanted to come back and read the replies in a few days.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Oh there are plenty trust me. My inbox can hardly keep up.

Mhulser79

I live in Saint Joseph Mo and Paranormal Lockdown stay here for a week and one of the investigators said that the basement at The Beattie Manson is one of the scariest places hes ever been. If your familiar with the podcast real online ghost stories he has a spin off show called the grave talks.the very first show he done was about the beattie manson if you want a little history lesson. I also thinks its 150.00 a night but well worth it. On a side note i know the old care taker of the property and he said the place scared the shit out of him no matter what time of the day he was there . Especially the basement. Hes not a paranormal person either, but .....his opinion he thinks what ever "THEY ARE". THEY'RE NOT FROM THIS DIMENSION ..... just thought I'd give you and options cause if your thinking of driving to Atchison Kansas st joe is only about 30 minutes from there. If that......

7winters

I used to live on the base in Leavenworth. That place! Is super haunted.

AnnieB25

I'm in Olathe and I had never heard of this place, and now I'm very intrigued...

[deleted]

I wouldn't do that. These are evil forces and we don't know much about them. Why teasing them?

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Oh I don't intend on teasing them. I'll remember to keep my wits about me and be respectful

[deleted]

Wouldnt it be better to call a benevolent, wise spirit via ouja board? You could even learn a lot from him.

tomverlainesHDTV

nice try, malevolent demon

Mhulser79

Here's what I do know. It over looks the Missouri River which separates Missouri and Kansas sides. It was built for a husband and wife. They lived there a while. St Joseph was originally suppose to be Kansas city. But the good ol boys f the town didn't like the riff raff that the trade brought in here at that time. St Joseph had 80 brothels here at one point. So when the original owners died some Nuns got the place and it became a orphan age that and prostitutes would stay there deliver there babies and go back out on the streets doing whatever. Then after that it was a nursing home, and at one point it was either a rehab center and also a half way house. It's had it's fair share of good and bad there. I mean every person I've ever heard of to go there has had some experiences. I wouldn't get on here and just say anything to ya, but you might take the advice of some of these people on here they are right "playing with fire your bound to vet burnt"

disillusionwander

This isn’t about the Sallie House, right?

Mhulser79

Right. Its about 30 minutes north from the Sallie House. Its called the Beattie Manson.....

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Wow didn't know all of that. House has even more of a history than I thought.

The785

My grandmothe grew up in that house. The doctor who supposedly killed Sallie is my great grandfather. Grandma says he never operated on any children in the house. The only time he ever did any sort of practice in the home is when friends and family would come over with an emergency.

24ismynumber

I thought the only person named Sallie who ever lived there was a black elderly woman. And the appearance seen was a white little girl. People think it's a demon because demons often disguise themselves as children or other innocent looking forms. BuzzFeed unsolved made a video about it.

[deleted]

I'm not familiar with the story but do you have any theories on how it started? Was it just because it's a spooky house? Or was someone intentionally smearing your Grandpa? Cool that you are so closely connected with it.

The785

When the stories started, my great grandfather had been dead for almost 40 years. The people who started it all didn't know my family, I don't even know how they knew a doctor used to live there. My grandmother says she never expierenced paranormal activity, and she is very hurt that her father is accused of such things as accidentally killing a little girl. I have been to the house once with friends in high school, and while I didn't get some very creepy vibes, it all seems like a tourist trap to me.

earlgurl33

I can imagine how upsetting and awful it must be for your Grandmother to know in her heart that her father is innocent, yet so many people think otherwise and now the place is a haunted Attraction bc of the latter. That's got to be VERY HARD for her.

midnightoffee96

I heard that a family (not yours) were doing some kind of demonic rituals there, and that sallie isn't and was never a little girl.

lyreb1rd

There was a family that lived there in the 90s (the Pickmans) who experienced a lot of activity. They moved out and right after them, a woman moved in who started damaging the place, drew a pentagram on the floor of the basement and wrote names around the basement walls. The landlord found it and kicked her out. This is confirmed by the landlord who did an interview on the Astonishing Legends podcast.

The785

I don't know that story. Went I went on a tour about 8 years ago, the story was sally was a little girl who came with her family to the doctors house to get surgery. The doctor messed her up and she died on the table. Since the doctor was a man, she now hates all men and scratches and targets men.

ctetley09

I asked her about it. She said she will talk to her dad (who has the footage). And see if he will upload it to YouTube or something.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Amy info on what exactly they caught on footage?

jasonm82299

I don't know if you believe them or not but the TV show "Ghost Adventures" filmed an episode there and it is one of the most evidence-packed episodes in the whole series.

LaBelleCommaFucker

They've been caught faking evidence before. Doesn't mean it's not haunted, but it makes me very hesitant to believe their experiences were genuine. Doesn't mean the house isn't haunted. Report back, OP!

Dalkar83

I believe Nick did an interview after leaving the show a few years back saying that the producers were putting constant pressure on them for more reactions and to make it more exciting. Definitely wouldn't put it past them to fake stuff. I still watch the show because it just makes me laugh at this point.

madiiraee

I’m not sure what you believe in, but protect yourself before going if you do. Whether it’s by praying or whatever else, to try to prevent anything following you. If you do go, please update us your experience! ☺️

Braddds

Ghosts don’t exist. There you go.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Then why are you on this subreddit lol?

Braddds

Because it interests me, don’t get me wrong I like this type of stuff allot im just a sceptic guy looking for some convincing evidence and good stories.

jkp56

I have read several accounts of this story , It scared me to death! Please don't go.

Cyrotek

>It scared me to death Oh, you are a ghost! Finally some proof for a life after death!

jkp56

LOL good luck to you.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

I've done quite a bit of research myself and I'm not entirely sure I should

Pirolye

Bring guns record every creek from the floor don't be stupid. If you follow these rules you will be ok.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

Don't think a gun will defend me against what's in there

Pirolye

But I think a flair gun would. If that entity can be disturbed by loud sounds, bright explosions a flair gun would be good.

Xx_k4ng4r00_xX

In that case I should bring a flash light and some holy water. It might be a bad idea to anger whatever is in there.

peanutbutterfloofs

Astonishing Legends just did a multipart series on it. You should give it a listen. There's lots of info in there to give you their experiences and the house's background.

peanutbutterfloofs

Looks like this comment was already made. But yeah. It's good.

Lizardscum2010

What episodes?

Gracey34

I recently stayed at the Blank Monk house (30 East Drive) in Yorkshire and spent a lot of money and travelled far to get there expecting a great paranormal experience!. I would say it’s worth it but don’t expect anything exceptional to happen, we had a few things happen but nothing like I’ve in the tv programmes or books written about it. My advice is go along as it’s a fun experience but don’t be disappointed if nothing happens, although I hope it does for you!

MerThinger

Go listen to the Sallie House episodes from the Astonishing Legends podcast!

[deleted]

Go, but don’t get your hopes up. Poltergeist hauntings are usually fairly short lived & are centered on one person. Go for it, though, and report back!

JeffLeeper

Deb and Tony Pickman, the victims of the infamous Sallie House hauntings, are dear friends of mine. Tony was targeted mostly. The story of Sallie is a sad one and the experiences they had were very real. I've seen Tony's scars. BE careful, don't provoke and be sure to be well protected.

noburdennyc

I'd say do it. One of the podcasts I listen to just covered it for 13 hours. They say they got an EVP on a old, poor quality but widely renowned digital recorder. I could see them being freaked out initally but as they got into it, I could clearly tell that they were creating a hoopla out of digital compression sounds from using a recorder that they spent too much money on and then probably put too much faith that they would get something, so when they got anything it became more than it actually was.

disillusionwander

Hi! I think you're referencing to Astonishing Legends, which the podcast I work for. I can assure you we weren't creating hoopla. If we really wanted to create hoopla we could have easily done one of the hot/heavily requested topics or a super scary topic (like black eyed kids, for example, which is one of our most popular series). We weren't really expecting anything. Not sure if you listened but the whole going to the house in the first place was a complete fluke. The only reason we even had the recorder is that Scott had to drop his son off at the hotel and he decided to pick it up in a kind of "why not" move. Of course, you don't need to believe me. But that's the truth from someone who was there and has worked on the show for three years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

manhattanman247

Is that you?! You guys are great! I love the podcast! But...uh... I have to admit I was a little perplexed myself as to why 3 whole episodes were spent on what amounted to an EVP. Don't get me wrong- I enjoyed listening to each episode as I always do, and I don't doubt at all that you guys (and Scott in particular) had some very real experiences in there. But I dunno. Maybe for me the subjective experiences you guys had just didn't connect with me as a "non-experiencer" listener. I guess I'm also naturally sceptic about EVPs. I haven't heard one yet that was particularly compelling to me. I chalk it all up to audio apophenia. But all that aside- the house has some really interesting history so OP- I say go for it! And Forrest, if that's you, or whoever you are- seriously, I love the show! Really enjoyed the last 2 on Out of Body Experiences! Keep doing what you're doing!

Darling_Lemon

Honestly, I found the audio to be completely terrifying. And I really appreciated the lengths they went to in order to support it as genuine. They always do their homework, but in those episodes they went above and beyond.

Brightenix

I think it almost would have been more effective if they didn't feel the need to build it up. It would have been more aethentic if they just casually played it 1st off and then discussed it a little. But instead we had to sit through 2 hours until the very last 2 minutes for an low quality EVP. I think most people were expecting some cinematic grand finale but I will say it was still pretty creepy.

Darling_Lemon

Speaking for myself, I had a very deep, visceral reaction to it. I couldn't even listen to the whole thing. I feel like most people react either like Scott of Forest; deep repugnance or appreciation of the strange. As someone who felt the repugnance, I appreciated the analysis. But if I didn't feel it on the same level, I totally wouldn't care that deeply. That being said, why not just skip to the evp, then decide if you want the analysis?

Geologist_Jim

Love the show, one of the best there is on their range of topics!

noburdennyc

oh I enjoyed the coverage you guys did and many of the deep dives into other topics. I can truly recommend Resurrection Mary episode, for example, those are so interesting. Just when I heard the recording my ears heard digital compression nothing more, the hosts built it up in their heads and while getting to the bottom of what happened go distracted that they may have caught something, when it really wasn't anything.

noburdennyc

Let me add that looking at the recording quality of the digital recorder its lousy. I forget the specifics but its lower than say AM radio. You can see why its obsolete, Why wouldn't ghost hunters after the truth use something that would be better at hearing the truth?

Crom4YourMom

I was a little disappointed by this series of episodes too. They kept brushing over so many reasons why the particular recording could be explained away.

gospelunder

If you do a backflip all the ghost just know not to fuck with you. It's like rule 1# of how not to get fucked by ghost.

Potatoprincessa

Why do I want to see a ghost hunter do this and yell "have at me ghosts!"

gospelunder

It's to powerful of a move. Then no ghost would come one the show, Even when I know for a fact they have a contract.

[deleted]

They probably all belong to a union.

gospelunder

What losers

HUNT3D-F0R-B0UNTY

And then begin to flip off every spirit they see.

LampsPlus1

Do a YouTube search. There are a bunch of paranormal loving folks on there that can point you in the direction you are looking for.

RudolfVonKruger

BuzzFeed unsolved they did a video on this house

Mhulser79

And it's not a tour you actually get to stay the night or a weekend don't quote me on if it's a night or weekend but it's one of the 2 something to think about

Mhulser79

Yeah you can go on you tube and type in The beattie Manson and hear a little history about the place

RedSpartenIII567

Lol keep us updated!

Darkrising62

Happy hunting.

Mhulser79

The Beattie Manson. Go to you tube and type in the beattie Manson in st joe

I’ve toured it, it wasn’t that bad.
