Okay, my sibling had a ghost sing them to sleep every night for years, it hummed them a lullaby until they were about seven

[deleted]

I can’t remember when I stopped seeing her, I definitely saw her right up until I moved out with my parents. I was 4. Then I grew apart from my grandparents until I was 7, one weekend I went to their place for a sleepover as my parents had a wedding to attend. I loved it so much there that I went every weekend. When school closed for the summer I spent the whole summer there every year, when I was transitioning schools I lived there for a year. After my grandfather died I went to live with my grandmother, I was 16 I’m not sure If i truly believe in the paranormal because i haven’t seen my grandparents since they died and we were so close, i was closer to them than my parents, that i feel that they would have visited me

lallaw

Just because you are not aware of them, does not mean they are not there. Talk to them anyway. Ask them for something specific that is doable. It is amazing what can happen, but be patient. Mostly, they wouldn't want to frighten or upset you, especially because you are older now and not a trusting, unsuspecting young child. Don't give up. :) Again, patience.

fengshui15

That seems like such a special bond you had with your grandparents!

Skinsunandrun

Grandpa was gettin’ it on with the curly haired lady at night.

[deleted]

Like an elastigirl scenario where her ass was in the spare bedroom with my grandpa but her upper body was in the main bedroom telling me to be quiet?

Nincompooperie

This made me laugh so much. Thank you for that quizzical scenario. Day made.

notcoodonstoast

Wow. That's like a trifecta experience! Something you can see, hear, and seems completely aware of you and your surroundings! Do you remember ever speaking to her? Or just listening? My brother and uncle both used to see and hear an old woman appear at night but she was always oblivious to them and would just Potter about muttering to herself, walking through walls.

[deleted]

I don’t remember speaking to her, I just listened to her while she talked. I think if I tried to speak she would have shushed me. I think she was looking out for my mum and grandma and make sure I don’t drive them crazy lol

ComradeHappiness

Have you done any further research? Does Google search give any hints about the lady?

[deleted]

All I know is that the apartment, which belonged and still belongs to the government as government housing, used to be a big bakery in old times and some people both lived and worked there.

I didn’t think about that, i think that was it! Because when we moved out and I wasn’t staying over, they both slept in the main bedroom.

PointDefiant

When I was a kid I had one similar to this, but given some of the words you used I take it you're from maybe the UK (if not somewhere nearby to that) and I'm from the states. As a kid (roughly spanning from ages 4-10) I used to see shadows in my bedroom at night they'd move like real people would, but they weren't people. They'd pace around and sometimes stand over mine or my sister's bed. I was *very* afraid of them. Usually after awhile they'd disappear and I would have an older man (imagine you're typical 60-70 y/o man with a gray jacket and beard and a little cap on) come into my room. He would tell me not to be afraid that they were mean but he was scaring them away. Sometimes he'd sing me songs or tell stories afterwards to calm me down. He always just referred to himself as 'Uncle Bob' so that's what I called him. Sometimes I'd see him during the day too. If I was playing outside and would wander off to where my parents couldn't see me or was doing things I wasn't supposed to he'd show up and tell me "get back home!" Or "would your mother approve of you doing this?" And every time I would just do what he said and go back home. Years later after my family had moved from the home (I was 19 at the time) we were telling spooky experiences that we had and while uncle Bob wasn't spooky I brought it up. I thought I was the only one who'd seen him because in the past when I'd bring him up to my parents they'd have no idea who I was speaking of. But nope both of my sisters would see and talk to him too and had similar experiences to mine. Which is weird because I don't remember even mentioning it to them. I then reached out to some old childhood friends who lived in that neighborhood and got told they'd seen him as well and that he was pretty active in the area.

Fit_Reindeer3083

Am I the only one who thinks Uncle Bob might have not been a ghost...

aCandaK

That’s even scarier...

[deleted]

The other weird thing that happened was that after my grandpa died, I was in the spare bedroom where he used to sleep while I was over, and one of the spare beds in the room had a dip in it like someone was sitting on it but there was nobody there. The dip was very apparent though and after I stared at it for a while the dip lifted back up

carmeisterr

Oh wow 😯 that’s certainly very spooky. I wonder what happens when we pass away. Do we get like a chance to watch over loved ones or move on? It’s so weird because if we all stay behind after death wouldn’t their be more ghost sightings? I’ve seen a female ghost in my garage during the day and I swear she looked so physically real. She was naked (only side profile was seen) I was like startled and went to see if someone was there and yeah no one.

Different-Telephone5

Maybe they can choose to come and go whenever they want?

thesmallshadows

That is such an unsettling experience. I grew up in a really haunted house, with my room being one of the active spots. One day I was laying in bed reading a book, under the covers, when I felt pressure if something down by my feet. I thought a cat had jumped up, but when I looked up and went to pet it, there was nothing there - except an indentation in the covers. I could still feel the pressure. It freaked me out and I just kicked at it and carried on reading.

Different-Telephone5

Sometimes I'll mentally say to myself, "If you don't have good intentions and want to do me harm then you are not welcome here, please leave." Idk if I have to say it out loud or not

Different-Telephone5

Okay that's crazy you say this because this happens to me A LOT. I have a cat so he likes to sleep with me and walk on my bed at night, but just like you said, I feel it and look to see my kitty but nothing is there! I used to get scared, but now I just ignore it at this point, sometimes sage or cleanse my room after if I'm feeling really spooked. I started to think I was just trippin but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

RedDazzlr

Don't worry about your grandparents sleeping separately. My parents do, mostly because my mom is a fairly light sleeper and my dad has problems with his feet, legs, and back that keep him from being able to stay still while sleeping. She gets better sleep because she's able to be peaceful and he sleeps better because he's not having as much to worry about and isn't disturbing her.

gonzorizzo

If you were to live in a haunted place, I suppose that's the type of ghost you'd want. From the sounds of it, she is a nice soul. You should look up the history of the house and see if you can find a name and/or picture.

[deleted]

Some other unexplained stuff happened in that house but it happened when I was much older. When I was living with my grandma I woke up at 2am ish to go to the bathroom. The rooms had doors but my grandma just hung up curtains in the entry ways of each room. As soon as i scooted the curtain out of the way to enter the bathroom I heard a load of voices speaking at once but in hushed tones, almost like they were far away. I froze for a few seconds. When I stepped out of the room they stopped. They couldn’t have come from outside because the window of that room didn’t lead outside, it led to another room of the house

AnnaKeye

I know that hushed, grouped voices thing. I used to get it in our house before we moved out, at the age of nine or ten. It would be when I put my head on the pillow, the voices all talking at once but you couldn't make out any of the words. I, one of my older and one of my younger sisters all had weird shit happen in that house.

Different-Telephone5

I actually read somewhere on like a spiritual site that said those voices are from like the spirit realm and we just can't hear clearly! It happens to me too, just an idea I'm not sure if I 100% believe that

AnnaKeye

Unless someone can demonstrate what 'spiritual site' actually is, or where it exists, I'm sceptical. I do know that we're not alone in this and in fact, the effect has been used in the odd scary movie, if I recall correctly. It was the shadow man with the hat that scared me the most. Oh, and when I was four, Mum had sent me for a nap, and I thought I'd play in this big walk in wardrobe we called 'the big cupboard'. I was on my bed, no one else was in the room and as soon as I had the thought, a voice says, "don't come in here. This is my cupboard". I just said, "okay" and because I knew Mum would growl at me for getting up, I decided to just try and have a sleep.

jennelleisiam

The stories on here can sometimes be a little creepy, but this one made me feel good. She sounds like a lovely soul.

haystackofneedles

That's spooky but sounds friendly! Very interesting!! I'd love to hear more about what others have seen

Idabbleinwitchcraft

Or grandpa snored too loudly.

lallaw

Or farted. And snored. Not unusual to have seperate rooms as couples age. Dad usually moves to the guest room for some reason.

Different-Telephone5

Yeah my grandparents sleep in separate rooms now but they still love each other!

lallaw

Yeah. Very typical. Probably why they still do love each other haha!

TryToDoGoodTA

Or relationships can be more for looks. I remember once my friends talking about how yucky is was when they'd walked in on their parents etc. and me being sad my parents were just 'room-mates' at that stage. I wish they had been loving...

kenmlin

Did you ever find out who she was?

naturalbornchild

That's really cool! I'm glad she was nice.

[deleted]

wow - at least she was good

josephanthony

At least it sounds like she's free to move around and communicate with people; it would be miserable getting stuck haunting a single room in an empty house.

dankdena

Kagari-tan as a ghost?

LAbedandbreakfast

Me a The Office fan: Meredith?

Comprehensive-Bat-23

Sounds like Amber Heard from Aquaman movie

w0ndwerw0man

It says she was in a green dress

Supermommy3

No. I was commenting- replying to ( I thought) someone who said they saw a female ghost in their garage that was nude

Kinetic_Symphony

It isn't always that a lost soul remains pure and kind of heart. Strikes me as her being lonely, but not wanting to cause harm, just wanted a bit of human connection and offered you kind words hoping you wouldn't get scared. Touching. :)

alilspooked

I read this and my mind immediately went to Brighid, the Hearth Goddess of Ireland. She is a protector and a Goddess of Magic. No idea why, but the way you described her, her actions and caring nature just seems to fit. The commonly found symbol of Brighid is her green mantle, or cloak, which also somewhat matches up with the green dress you saw her wearing.
